VELMA M. HARTMAN FERGUSON

Velma M. "Boots" Hartman Ferguson, 80, of Irwin, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late William and Martiena Middah Hartman. She was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , William and Robert Hartman. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, William R. Ferguson; a daughter, Pamela Imberlina and her husband, Gregory, of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Maria Imberlina. Friends received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.

FRANK FONTANA JR.

Frank "Hoppy" Fontana Jr., 76, of Harrison City, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, in his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Jeannette, a son of the late Frank Sr. and Mary Altier Fontana. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Penn Township Road Department. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps, a member of the Bushy Run American Legion Post #260 in Claridge, and the Diaz Club of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Raymond and George Fontana. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Pierce Fontana; two sons , Larry and wife, Mary Fontana, of Pensacola, Fla., and Wayne and Connie Fontana of Penn Township; a brother, Joseph and wife, Eileen Fontana, of Jeannette; a granddaughter, Monica and husband, Scott May; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Marks officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Family Hospice, 3029 Jacks Run Road, White Oak, PA 15131, or the American Cancer Society, 152 E. Otterman St., Greensburg, PA 15601.

CLYDE W. JONES

Clyde W. Jones, 92, of West Mifflin, on Sunday, June 25, 2000. He was a retired USX supervisor at the Edgar Thomson Works with over 49 years of service. He was a past member of the board of directors for over 30 years at the Edgar Thomson Works Federal Credit Union. He was the husband of the late Daisie Dora (Watson) Jones. Father of Dora Lee Evans of Munhall. Brother of Thomas C. Jones of New Jersey. Grandfather of Robin Evans, Lynn and husband, Gary Banyas and Sheri and husband, Douglas Brown. Great-grandfather of Christian, Rachel, Joshua, Nathan and Tyler. Friends received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 3511 Main St., Munhall, where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the UPMC Cancer Institute, 200 Lothrop St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

CAROL A. (SZMUC) MILLER

Carol A. (Szmuc) Miller, 48, of Hempfield Township, died Saturday, June 24, 2000. She was born Dec. 24, 1951, in McKeesport, a daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Tarker) Szmuc of North Versailles. She was employed as a unit clerk at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. She was a member of the Brush Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hempfield Township. Survivors include her husband, James A. Miller; a daughter, Crystal Miller at home; two brothers , Thomas Szmuc of North Versailles and William Szmuc of Somerset; and two sisters , Pat Harding of McKeesport and Sandra Cutson of North Versailles. Friends received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Brush Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, 177 Brush Creek Road, Irwin (Hempfield Township), with the Rev. William Hauser officiating.

MARIE (MISOK) USNICK

Marie (Misok) Usnick, 91, of Library, on Saturday, June 24, 2000. Wife of the late Andrew Fred; beloved mother of Lois Jean Leech of Lansing, Mich., Frederick J. of Freedom, Pa., Jacqueline Brandt of Upper St. Clair, William H. of Philadelphia, and Richard A. of Carnegie; sister of Anna Strnisha of Euclid, Ohio, Ethel Bakos of Fort Myers, Fla., George Misok of Moon Township, Joseph Roman of Bethel Park, and the late Pauline Garzony; also 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Usnick was a member of the Library Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the DAVID J. HENNEY FUNERAL HOME, 6364 Library Road (Rt. 88), Library. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church. Entombment in Jefferson Memorial Park Mausoleum.

ETHEL MAE ADAMS
Ethel Mae Adams, 84, of Perryopolis, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at 4:55 p.m. in the Parish House, Perryopolis. She was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Bridgeport, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Lottie Rittenour Boshinsky. Ethel was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the St. John's Altar Society of Perryopolis. Survived by two daughters , Rosemary Shupe and husband, James, of Smithton and Betty Jean Lafko and husband, Robert Sr., of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, Elaine Shupe and Ken Shupe both of Smithton, Pa., Robert Lafko of Baltimore, Md., and Brian Lafko of Felton, Pa.; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother, Annabelle Troup of Greensburg, Doris Seman of Perryopolis and Edward Boshinsky of Uniontown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve F. Adams, in 1980; and three brothers , Frank, Ernest and Mike Boshinsky. Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 E. Independence St., Perryopolis, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where prayer service will be held Friday at 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Perryopolis, with the Rev. Father Louis W. Cheatham as celebrant. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Perryopolis. A wake service will be held Thursday evening at 8.

Nina Loveall Albright, of Brentwood, on Tuesday, June 27, 2000. Wife of the late Edward Albright. mother of Bruce (Sharon) Albright. Friends received at the JOHN F. ALVEDA C. BRUNELLI

Alveda C. "Veda" Brunelli, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Margartti Lorenz. She was the former owner of the Cloverleaf Supper Club on Route 66, a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, and the Catholic daughters of the Americas, Court Seton 306. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Brunelli; and three sisters , Mildred Lorenz, Bessie Gall and Mary Louise Donghia. Surviving are a sister, Nicolena McDivitt; and a brother, William A. Lorenz and wife, Rosemary, all of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Interment will be private. Arrangements under the direction of the CLEMENT L. LYNN D. DEBONE

Lynn D. DeBone, 47, of Greensburg, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in the IHS Nursing Facility, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 19, 1952, in Pittsburgh, a son of Lucy Krupey DeBone of Pittsburgh and the late Louis DeBone. He was the owner of Gino's Pizza Palace (near Lynch Field) for 17 years. In addition to his Father , he was preceded in death by his grandparents. In addition to his mother , survivors include his wife, Tina Edwards DeBone of Greensburg; a daughter, Melissa DeBone, at home; the family pets, Scamper and Shaggy; a brother, Louis DeBone, of Morgantown, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Kathy Rankin, of Bellevue; a niece, Nicole DeBone; and five nephews, Christopher, Timothy and Patrick DeBone, and Jaison and Donnie Rankin. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. MARY G. EIFERT

Mary G. Eifert, 98, of Heritage Manor, West Mifflin, formerly a 27-year resident of Crafton, died Monday afternoon, June 26, 2000. She was born May 1, 1902, in Lancaster, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Leota Talbot Gray. Until her retirement in 1967, she was a clerk for the Pittsburgh Board of Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ramond K. Eifert; and a daughter, Patricia Ann Hayles. Survivors include a son, Kenneth G. Eifert, of Mt. Lebanon; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were private. Arrangements by the THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Blawnox.

BRYDA (PAINTER) JANKOVICH

Bryda (Painter) Jankovich, 64, of Monroeville, suddenly on Tuesday, June 27, 2000. A daughter of the late John and Margaret "Peg" (Bevil) Painter. Beloved wife of Milos Jankovich. Dear mother of JoAnne (Michael) Morris, Lisa (Herbert) Cohen, and Nick Jankovich. Grandmother of Joseph, Andrew, and Jennifer Morris, Joshua, Benjamin, and Rachael Cohen. Sister of Elizabeth "Liz" Painter; also nieces and nephews. Friends received at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home and Pomen Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m., followed by additional services in St. Nicholas Serbian E.O. Church Friday at noon. Mrs. Jankovich was a former nurse for the Forbes Health System and a former past matron for the Order of Eastern Star.

RUSSELL A. LANDIS

Russell A. Landis, 69, of South Greensburg, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Caleb A. and Bertryce Shick Landis. Prior to his retirement, he had been a self-employed master carpenter and cabinet maker. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the South Greensburg American Legion Post #981, the Baltzer Meyer Historical Society and was a life member of the Youngwood Sportsmen's Association. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Demers Landis; a son, Robert M. Landis and his wife, Susan, of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren, Catherine Jeanne, Michael Robert, and Patrick Francis Landis, all of Baltimore; and two brothers , Richard V. Landis of New Stanton and George W. "Wayne" Landis of Hunker. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. ONLY. Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert C. Wilson officiating. Interment will be private.

HARRY L. MILLER

Harry Lee "Buster" Miller, born Oct. 27, 1923, to Harry and Maude Miller of New Stanton, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Puyallup, Wash. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. After the Army, he drove trucks cross country. He settled in Tacoma, Wash., and became a Teamster with Local #313 and #741. He met Georgiana and they were married Dec. 22, 1953, in Tacoma. He retired in 1982 from IML Freightlines. He was an avid RV'er, loved gardening, woodworking, and "Reno." Georgiana Alice Overmire Miller, born June 6, 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa, the youngest of three daughters to Ralph and Alice Overmire, died June 30, 1998. Georgiana had worked at Safeway and was a member of the Pierce Country Women's Club. She loved to cook, sew, can and was lucky in Reno. Two years to the day that Georgiana died, they are "Together Again." They leave behind three children, Harry Calvin (Linda) Miller, Beverly (Ron) Caudill, and James T. (Nancy) Brandt; his sisters , Azie Stoner, Lourene Thomas, and Delores Fox; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; his business partner and longtime friend, Herb Gorman. A memorial service for Harry and Georgiana will be held Friday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in Dryer Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements by DRYER MORTUARY, Tacoma, Wash.

DIANA LYNN YOUNG

Diana Lynn Young, 54, of Penn Hills, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside. She was born Feb. 27, 1946, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Frederick V. Sr. and Lorraine Schook Lytle. Also survived by her husband, Joseph W. Young; and her brother, Frederick V. Lytle Jr. Friends will be received at the TRENZ FUNERAL HOME INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Friday at the funeral home, time later.

WALTER K. BROTHERS
Walter K. brothers , 89, of Scottdale, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his residence. He was born Sept. 8, 1910, at Prittstown, Bullskin Township, a son of the late Charles C. and Nellie McGregor brothers . Walter was a member of the Pennsville Baptist Church and was a student of the former Mudd School. Prior to his retirement, he was a coal miner having worked for the H.C. Frick Co. and the U.S. Steel Corp. Member of the U.M.W.A. and an avid hunter and fisherman. Walter is survived by his devoted wife, Agnes M. (Cale) brothers , with whom he would have celebrated their 64th anniversary on Oct. 14; his loving children, Charles H. brothers and wife, Janet, of Dunbar, David A. brothers and wife, Dianne, of Butler, Evelyn Ruth Shupe and husband, Edwin, of Scottdale, and Janice E. Basinger and husband, Harry, of Connellsville; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Charles brothers and Ernest brothers ; and two sisters , Mary Yothers and Betty Belmont. Friends were received at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating. Interment will follow at graveside in the Green Ridge Memorial Cemetery.
