Helen W. Alexander
Helen W. Shatzer Alexander, 90, formerly of Lemoyne, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001.

She was a registered nurse and was a retired employee at the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church of Hershey and its Berean Sunday School Class; Polyclinic Hospital Nurses Alumni Association Class of 1931; Perry Historians; was one of the original volunteers and active with Hospice of Central PA; and she enjoyed fishing and spending time in Kennedy Valley, Perry County.

She was born May 26, 1910 in Johnstown, PA to the late James and Gertrude (Smith) Shatzer.

She was the widow of William D. Alexander (1981). She is survived by 5 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Shatzer Jones and Ora Shatzer Leaman.

Funeral services will be held 11am Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with Pastor Paul H. Haken officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

Viewing will be 10-11am at the funeral home.

Frank Wesley Baker
Frank Wesley Baker, 84, of Yeager Personal Care Nursing Home, Mechanicsburg and formerly of New Cumberland, died Friday at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was a retired Warehouseman from the former US Navy Depot, Mechanicsburg and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Carlisle. He enjoyed crafts and making models.

He was born July 25, 1917 in Harrisburg to the late John and Blanche Baker.

The widow of Lillian S. Baker, he is survived by five sons, Dennis Baker of Lewisberry, Clifford of New Cumberland, Richard of Omaha, Nebraska, Steven of Etters and Thomas of New Cumberland; three  daughters, Nancy Beard of Etters, Diane Baker of New Cumberland, and Deborah Mosely of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Persis Deakins of West Covena, CA and Mildred Brink of Xenia, OH; twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, www.parthemore.com. Private interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Fairview Twp.

Viewing will be from 1-2pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

John S. "Bo" Bald
John S. "Bo" Bald, 32, of Etters, Newberry Twp. and formerly of Torrance, California died Sunday July 8, 2001 in South Creek Twp., Bradford Co., PA.

He was the Sales Manager for Yamaha of Camp Hill and an Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War and the Panama Operation. He was a member of East Coast Enduro Association; South Penn Enduro Riders; Western NY Off Road Riders Association; American Motorcycle Association, District 7; American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415, both of New Cumberland.

He was born 6/14/69 in Harbor City, CA to John B. & Barbara Ann (Culley) Bald of Gilroy, CA. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Monica J. (Benda) Bald; 4 sisters, Yvette Summers of Mechanicsburg, Carole Ballew of Charlottesville, VA, Linda Wackowitz and Diane Weseman, both of Elgin, IL; and his maternal grandmother Cleo Culley of Hemet, CA.

Services will be held 2 pm Friday 7/13/2001 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church cemetery, Etters, Newberry Twp.

Viewing will be from 1-2pm Friday in the funeral home.

Roy Betz
Roy Betz, 80, of Newberry Township, PA, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.

He was a retired Mechanic with over 40 years service for Brenner Motors, Harrisburg; an Army Veteran of WWII; a member of VFW Post 537, Etters; American Legion Post 791, Shiloh; and enjoyed meeting with friends while walking at the Capital City Mall.

He is survived by his wife Arlene Schaffner Betz; two sons, Roy M., New Bloomfield, and Sheldon R. Betz, Dushore, PA; a daughter, Wanda K. Cassel, Leola; a sister Mabel E. Dugan, Newberry Township; 10 grand children; 2 great grand children; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. George M. Weaver, Paddletown St. Paul United Methodist Church, Newberry Twp.

Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Viewing will be 10-11 am Monday in the funeral home.

Margaret E. Biffart
Margaret E. "Peg" Biffart, 95, of New Cumberland, died Saturday at Woodland Center, Fairview Twp.

She was a retired machine operator from the former NuBox, Inc. of New Cumberland. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching equestrian events.

She was born May 1, 1906 in Harrisburg to the late Samuel and Annie C. (Grass) Olsen. In addition to her parents, her husband, Max J. and daughter, Maxine M. Best, predecease her.

A son, Robert A. of New Cumberland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive her.

Funeral Services will be held at 10am Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Fairview Twp.

Visitation will be from 9:30am until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bernice S. Bowles
Bernice S. Bowles, 87, of Kendal at Oberlin, Retirement Community, and formerly of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at the community.

She was a retired Unemployment Compensation Analyst from the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg. She was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, and B.D. Tours Travel Club, Camp Hill.

She was born January 29, 1914 in New Cumberland to the late Clyde B. and Mary E. (Stetler) Shelly.

The widow of Mervin A. Bowles, she is survived by her daughter, Diane B. Pucko of Elyria, OH; a son, Edward S. Bowles of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Clyde B. Shelly, Jr. of Windsor, PA; a sister, Mary S. Monk of York, PA; a step-sister, Nancy Gross of Etters, PA; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Fairview Twp., York County, PA.

Visitation will be from noon to 12:45am Friday at the funeral home.

Luther F. Carbaugh
Luther F. Carbaugh, Jr., 42, of Harrisburg and formerly of New Cumberland died Friday, July 7, 2001 in his residence.

He was a painter for Reliable Contracting, Harrisburg.

He was born 9/17/1958 in Harrisburg, PA to Luther F. Carbaugh, Sr. of Florida and the late Elsie (Quaid) Carbaugh.

In addition to his  Father he is survived by a son Alex of Perry County and 2 brothers, Timothy F. of Enola and Zachary F. of Harrisburg.

Services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday 7/14/2001 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Emanuel cemetery, Lewisberry.

Viewing will be from 1:30 until time of service Saturday in the funeral home.

Rose M. Clemens
Rose M. Clemens, 76, of Camp Hill, PA, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp. PA.

She was a retired legal secretary for the Department of the Army, Judge Advocate General; She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, PA; she loved caring for her pets.

She was born February 23, 1925 in Scranton, PA to the late James J. and Mary E. (Size) Doherty.

She is survived by a daughter Eileen E. Clemens, Beltsville, MD; two sisters, Alice M. O'Leary and Marjorie P. Walsh, both of Camp Hill, PA.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Wednesday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland with the Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence as celebrant. Burial will be 12 noon Thursday in St. Catherine cemetery, Moscow, PA.

Visitation will be 9am to 10am Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Donald B. Cornish
Donald B. Cornish, 79, of The Woods at Cedar Run Assisted Living, 824 Lisburn Rd. Lower Allen Twp. died Monday March 5, 2001 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was a retired Assistant Principal at Cedar Cliff High School of the West Shore School District and previously coached and taught at Perry Joint High School, New Bloomfield and New Cumberland Junior High School where he entered the administrative ranks. He then went on to Allen Middle School as assistant principal prior to his retirement from Cedar Cliff High School. He was a graduate of Williamsport / Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming University) and Bucknell University where he earned his Master's in Education. He was a WWII Army veteran and attended Christian Life Assembly, Lower Allen Twp.

He was born May 21, 1921 in Williamsport, Lycoming County to the late Walter & Lena (Baney) Cornish.

He is survived by his wife Margaret E. (West) Cornish; a son Donald B. Cornish, Jr. of Lower Allen Twp.; 2  daughters, Joanne Wenger of Pasadena, MD and Sandra Gainor of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by 2  daughters, Virginia Lee (Cornish) Holmes and Claudia Richards; and 2 additional grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 11 am Monday March12, 2001 in his church with Pastor Paul J. Wislocky, Sr., his pastor, and the Rev. Tom Wenger, his son in law, co-officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Visitation will be from 10:30-11 am Monday in the church.

Susan E. Chorpenning
Susan E. Chorpenning, 43, of Camp Hill and formerly of Burlington, MA, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

She was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, Mechanicsburg where she served as Deacon. She enjoyed being a mom and volunteered for many of her son's activities including scouting, soccer and little league baseball programs.

She was born October 10, 1957 in Winchester MA. She was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Pattie.

She is survived by her husband, David S. Chorpenning; a son, Ian D. at home; her parents, Gerard J. and Dorothy (Burke) Pattie of Burlington, MA; two brothers, James A. Pattie of Burlington, MA and Jack J. Pattie of Newburyport, MA; three sisters, Karen Bobbish and Joan Falconer of Burlington and Debra Hosmer of Rye, NH; and her in-laws, Lloyd and Faye Chorpenning of Vineyard Haven, MA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday at her church and Friday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Burlington MA. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill cemetery, Burlington, MA.

Viewings will be from 1:30 to 2:15pm Tuesday at her church and Thursday at Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., Burlington, MA.

Lamar H. Craig
Lamar H. Craig, 73, of New Cumberland, and formerly of Reading, died Friday, June 15, 2001 at Harrisburg Hospital.

He was a retired Ironworker having worked in the Reading area. He was a graduate of Mt. Airy School for the Deaf, Philadelphia. He was a member of Reading Association of the Deaf, Pennsylvania Society for the Deaf, Keystone Central Deaf Senior Citizens, and York Association of the Deaf.

He was born February 14, 1928 in Coaldale to the late Harry and Dorothy (Stoffo) Craig.

His brother, Robert W. Craig of New Cumberland, a niece, Amy Martinar of Philadelphia; a nephew, David Craig of Haverton, and two grandnieces, Abby and Gracie Martinar of Philadelphia survive him.

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mt. Zion cemetery, Monroe Twp.

Eva S. Crisp
Eva S. Crisp, 87, of Camp Hill & formerly of New Cumberland died Saturday June 2, 2001 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland and was an avid Hershey Bears Hockey fan and loved all sports.

She was born October 5, 1913 in Shippensburg, PA to the late Clever & Hazel (Husler) Daihl.

She is survived by her husband Charles H. Crisp, Jr.; a son Charles H., III of Fayetteville, PA; 2  daughters, Judy C. Christie of New Cumberland and Orpha "Jean" Hare of Camp Hill; 3 sisters, Martha Woodring of McKeesport, PA, Nelle Nenninger of Shippensburg, PA and Orpha Benner of New Cumberland; 4 grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

Services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday June 6, 2001 in her church with the Rev. Carl Ford Peterson, her pastor, and the Rev. James Nenninger, her nephew officiating.

Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.

Chief Petty Officer John C. Dichard
Chief Petty Officer, John C. Dichard, US Navy, Retired, 74, of Lewisberry and formerly of Massachusetts, died Tuesday, February 27, 2000 at home.

He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. In addition to his military service, he worked for AVCO in Massachusetts. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; Pennsylvania LSM-LSMR Association; and Fleet Reserve Association. He was an avid Red Sox fan

He was born November 5, 1926 in Massena, NY to the late Adelard and Daisy (Bush) Dichard.

He was the widower of Wanda M. Kearns Dichard, He is survived by two sons, Rowland Cutter of Oceanside, CA and Anthony E. Dichard of Lewisberry; three  daughters, Annette M. Paddock of SanTee, CA, Miriam M. Petrillo of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, and Michelle M. Schoppert of Lewisberry; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 6pm Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland with The Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be at 10am Thursday at Arlington National cemetery, VA

Viewing will be from 4:30 to 5:45pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth A. Eater, 94, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of New Cumberland, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at home.

She was a retired employee for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission; a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; a former Republican Committee Woman; Order of Eastern Star, Steadfast Chapter.

She was born October 14, 1906, in Wrightsville, York Co., PA to the late Calvin and Barbara Thompson Upp. She was the widow of C. Vance Eater.

She is survived by her daughter with whom she lived, Barbara A. Fetrow, Mechanicsburg; two grand children; 3 great grand children. Services will be private.

Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

There will be no viewing.
