Chester A. Hornberger, 99, formerly of New Cumberland died Tuesday October 31, 2000 in Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, PA.
He was a retired supervisor for Bell Telephone Co. and volunteered for over 19,000 hours for Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp (see accompanying (2) articles). He formerly attended Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Highland Park, Camp Hill; was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America; and his passion other than volunteering at the hospital was making grandmother clocks.
He was born October 16, 1901 in Reading, PA to the late Arthur M. & Ella K. (Wick) Hornberger. He was the widower of Ethel B. (Bice) Hornberger and is survived by 3 friends, Bob & Arlene Hawk of Halifax and Anna Topper of Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg.
Services will be held 2 pm Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in West Laurel Hill cemetery, Bala Cynwood, PA.
Visitation will be from 1-2pm Friday in the funeral home.

Rosemary Hughes, of Camp Hill died Saturday August 26, 2000 in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Residence, Service of Hospice of Central PA, Susquehanna Twp.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill.
She is survived by her husband Glenn Hughes; a daughter Theresa Costa of Lemoyne; a brother Sylvester Shank of New Cumberland; a sister Anna S. Natale of Camp Hill; 2 grandchildren, Bertran D. Walton, IV and Sean M. Walton; 2 great grandchildren, Bertran D. Walton, V and Janessa A. Walton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

Clair S. Hursh
Clair S. Hursh, 84, of Bethany Village, Lower Allen Twp., and formerly of Womelsdorf, PA, died Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at his residence.
He was a WWII Army Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, received the bronze star; five battle stars, and various other medals. He was a retired manager of quality control laboratory for North American Refractories, Womelsdorf, PA; He was a member of Camp Hill United Methodist Church; Williamson Lodge # 307 F. and A. M., Womelsdorf; Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Reading; Rajah Temple, Reading.
He was born March 10, 1916 in Lock Haven, PA to the late George and Olive (Vanatta ) Hursh.
He is survived by his wife Grace I. (Smith) Hursh; a son Dennis G. Hursh, Middletown; a brother John Hursh, Lock Haven; three grand children; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday at Parthemore Funeral and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Ronald E. Bowersox officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
There will be no viewing.

Elisabeth Lorenz, 78, of New Cumberland, died Friday, August 18, 2000 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a retired tax accountant / owner/operator of Lilo Income Tax. She also owned and managed her Father's business: Monreal of Cologne, Germany. She was a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College and Penn State University. She was an Income Tax Volunteer for the AARP on the West Shore; an Ice Dancer for the Hershey Figure Skating Club. She was a member of United States Figure Skating Club.
She was born May 16, 1922 in Cologne, Germany to the late Jakob and Elisabeth (Helm) Monreal.
Her husband, Heinz M. Lorenz; a daughter, Barbara Irmgard Hummel of New Cumberland, and a grandson survive her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30pm Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until 1pm Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Robert J. Lucas
Robert J. Lucas, 66, of New Cumberland, died Thursday, November 16, 2000 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
A Korean Air Force Veteran, he was a retired Warehouseman and HVAC repairman from the former DDRE, New Cumberland. He also was the retired owner/operator of Bob's Appliance Service, New Cumberland and retired from BAPS Auto Paint & Supply, Lemoyne. He was a member of VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg and was a member of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland.
He was born September 9, 1934 in Shenandoah to the late Paul and Helen Lucas.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. Ditmar Lucas; a daughter, Cindy A. Fetrow of Newberrytown; a brother, Paul Lucas of Shenandoah; and two grandchildren, Laura M. and Brandt R. Fetrow of Newberrytown.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in East Harrisburg cemetery, Susquehana Twp.
Viewing will be from 9-10am Monday at the funeral home.

John F. Ludwig
John F. Ludwig, 80, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Highland Park, Camp Hill died Wednesday September 13, 2000 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired district manager for the Social Security Administration, Harrisburg after 36 years service and later worked for 5 years as treasurer of HFE Federal Credit Union, New Cumberland. He was an Army Air Corps 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and past president of its Consistory, New Cumberland; Harrisburg Bridge Club; National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was born 4/11/20 in Hamburg, PA to the late Charles F. and Lulu (Kelchner) Ludwig.
He is survived by his wife Doris L. (Paul) Ludwig; a son Jeffrey P. Ludwig of Camp Hill; 2 grandchildren; and preceeded in death by a son Lieutenant James Stuart Ludwig.
Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday 9/16/2000 in his church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Hanover Twp., PA.

Col. Thomas B. Mahone, Jr., U.S. Army Retired, 80, of Camp Hill and formerly of New Cumberland, died Saturday, October 28th at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired Army Colonel with 32 years of service; Past Comander, New Cumberland Army Depot, 1969 - 1972, Retired; also served at Director of State and Federal Surplus Property Bureau. He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, VA and received his MBA fro University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society; Charter Member and Past President of Serra Club, Harrisburg; Military Liaison Committee, Greater Harrisburg Area and West Shore Chamber of Commerce; VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; West Shore Elks, BPOE 2257; and Riverview Golf Club, Defense Distribution Center.
He was born August 18, 1920 in Williamsburg, VA to the late Thomas B. Mahone, Sr and Louise Hall Mahone
. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Quinn Mahone; five sons, Thomas E. Mahone of Houston, TX, Daniel L. of Mechanicsburg, The Rev. Michael Q. of Lake Tahoe, NV, Master Sergeant Patrick B. of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Richard A. of Sparks, NV; two daughters, Dorothy L. Braun of Lewisberry and Camilla M. Braun of Pittsburgh; a brother, George C. Manone of Williamsburg, VA; four sisters, Catherine Drewrey of Richmond, VA, Betsy Inabnet of Evant, TX, Sadie Wells of Vera Beach, FL, and Julia Alcorn of Williamsburg; eleven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

He was an electrician for PA Steel Technologies (formerly Bethlehem Steel Corp.) Steelton; a Korean War veteran; and a member of the Capital City Cruisers Car Club.
He was born 5/2/43 in Erie, PA to Hazel V. (Fellows) McKean Blanchard and the late James P. McKean.
He is survived by a daughter Cristina A. McKean of New Cumberland; 2 sons, Shawn A. of Phoenix, AZ and Kenneth A. of New Cumberland; his mother Hazel V. (Fellows) Blanchard of Fairview, PA; a sister Patricia of Erie.

Florence C. Morelock, 90, of New Cumberland, died Friday, October 28th at Harrisburg Hospital.
She was a member of 2nd Street United Methodist Church, Harrisburg. She was born October 24, 1910 in Souderton to the late Wilmer and Esther (Schoelkopf).
The widow of George S. Morelock and Donald N. Hacker, she is survived by a son, Donald N. Hacker, II of Colonial Park; a daughter, Shirley E. Stephenson of New Cumberland; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Slate Hill Mennonite cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.

He was a retired Management Analyst for Commonwealth of PA, former Department of Environmental Resources, Harrisburg; was a registered professional land surveyor; a volunteer for Holy Spirit Hospital for over 10 years; and was a WWII Army veteran earning the Purple Heart, bronze star, campaign stars for Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardens, and Central Europe, WWII Victory Ribbon, American Theater & American Defense ribbons.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Holy Name Society; Cumberland County Historical Society; and VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by his wife Mary H. (Engle) O'Brien; a son George T. Jr. of Pepperell, MA; a daughter Maryann O. Plotts of Harrisburg; a brother John of Gettysburg; 2 sisters, Eileen Keim of Mechanicsburg and Frances Harper of Dunwoody, GA; 1 grandchild.

He was a retired lineman for PP&L and a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of First Church of God, New Cumberland and enjoyed carpentry and gardening.
He was born May 8, 1923 in Carlisle to the late Raymond & Helen (Gilbert) Phelabaum.
He is survived by his wife Dorthea M. (Bickley) Phelabaum; a son Paul H., Jr. of New Cumberland; a sister Bertha Patrick of Greensburg, PA; 2 grandchildren, Dawn Woodburn and Robert Phelabaum; 2 great grandchildren, Kelsey & Conner Woodburn.

M. Peyton St. Clair, Jr., 75, of Harrisburg, died Sunday, January 14, 2000 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran, he received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, American Theatre Medal, and Victory Medal. He was a 1943 graduate of West bury High School, Long Island, NY and Adelphi University, Garden City, NY. He was a retired Supervisor of Quality Control for Northrop Grunman Aircraft, Long Island, NY having been involved in NASA programs.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Meador Peyton and Esther (Lockard) St. Clair. He is also predecease by his wife, Germaine Reifen St. Clair and a son, Christian Lefebure.
He is survived by a son, Michel Lefevre of Harrisburg; and three sisters: Eleanor Nesbitt of New York City, NY, Virginia Chaise and Robin Miller both of Long Island, NY. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Hanover Twp.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
