FRED K. STRICKLER

Fred K. Strickler, 80, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his home. Born in Latrobe, Dec. 31, 1919, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Elnetta E. Keltz Strickler. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Latrobe. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Latrobe Steel Co. for 35 years, and was also a retired employee of Latrobe Borough. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a member of American Legion Post 515, Latrobe, and a life member of the AMVETS. He was also a member of Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department and Latrobe Fire Police. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters , Sylverine Hoffman, Imogene Morrow and Lois Stemmler; and a son-in-law, Chester A. Bieloski. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" DiOrio Strickler; four daughters , Patricia Strickler of Sewickley, Marie Bieloski of Lawrenceville, Laura Dick and her husband, Terry, of Whitney and Janice Bruebaker of Greensburg; a sister, Eleanor Lawton of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. military services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department will meet Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home to hold services.

WILMA WORDEN

Wilma Worden, on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, after a brief illness. Wilma, age 80, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Ambridge, wife of the late Edward J. Beloved mother of Suzanne Fagan and her husband, Robert, of New Jersey, Kathleen Gandley and her husband, Michael, of Michigan, Bernard of Pittsburgh, Geralyn "Lyn" Yarows and her husband, Steven, of Michigan, Edward of Pittsburgh, and the late Marguerite. Also survived by Richard Gursky. Grandmother of Jesse Gandley, Kevin, and Kristen Yarows. Friends received at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL HOME LTD., Broadway and Shiras avenues, Beechview. Day and time later. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Catholic Community, 8 Krist Glen, Pittsburgh, PA 15218, or the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Bernard's Church, 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.

MICHELLE DAWN YUSCINSKY

Michelle Dawn Yuscinsky, 25, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Dec. 21, 1974, in McKeesport, a daughter of Al and Norma Terza of North Huntingdon and John and Kelly Yuscinsky of Webster, Mass. Michelle was formerly employed by RTN as a secretary. She was a Norwin High School graduate and an Organ Eye Tissue Donor for CORE. In addition to her parents, she is survived by four brothers , John L. Yuscinsky of Webster, Mass., Robert A. Yuscinsky and his wife, Nada, of North Huntingdon, Daniel C. Terza of North Versailles and Dale A. Terza of Sebastian, Fla.; and three sisters , Rheannonk K. and Amber M. Yuscinsky, both of Webster, Mass., and Cathy E. Tarli of Plum Borough. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. Interment will be in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Allegheny General Hospital, Department of Neurology, Stroke Prevention Fund, c/o Dr. Wilberger, 420 E. North Ave., East Wing Suite 302, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

DAVID E. ALBERT JR.
David E. Albert Jr., 68, of Laughlintown, formerly of Latrobe, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born June 19, 1931, in Latrobe, a son of the late David E. and Esther Saxman Albert. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was a computer systems supervisor for Latrobe Steel. He was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, a member of the Fort Ligonier Association, a member of the Ligonier Valley Historical Society, a member of the Penn Ligonier Railroad Club, Latrobe, and was very active with the Valley Players from 1967 to present and was in charge of the lights and sound. He was owner of the Loyalhanna Dockyards, a foreign car enthusiast, a world traveler and a docent for the Compass Inn, Laughlintown. Survived by his brother, Harry S. (and wife, Carolyn) Albert of Latrobe; nieces, Mrs. Darren (Marcia) Hemminger and Nona Peachey; and nephews, Harry Albert and Olin Hyde. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. Service will be held Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. in Unity Chapel, Unity Township, Latrobe, with Dr. David A. Eversdyke officiating. Interment Unity Cemetery, Latrobe (Unity Township). BERTHA FAIX SLEBODNIK CICCI BARELA

Bertha Faix Slebodnik Cicci Barela, 86, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Madison, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at the Living Care Center of Paradise Valley. She was an educator and an artist. She was born June 13, 1913, in McKeesport, to James and Julia (Kolesar) Faix. She married John Slebodnik on June 23, 1934, and they resided in Sewickley Township for 33 years until John's death in 1967. Bertha lived in Greensburg and Yukon for several years before moving to Phoenix in 1980. She is survived by six daughters , Dolores Garvis of Punta Gorda, Fla., Judith Pavsek-Green of Phoenix, Ariz., Jane Minda of Saltsburg, Rosemary Lewis of Woodbridge, Va., Cyrilla Lombardi of Londonderry, N.H., and Martha Mendoza of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons , John Slebodnik of Phoenix, Ariz., Jim Fix of Oceanside, Calif., and William Slebodnik of Gibsonia; two brothers , William Faix of Clairton and Arthur Faix of Port Vue; 29 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her first husband, John, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Amerigo Cicci, on Feb. 2, 1975, and her third husband, Abran Barela on Aug. 29, 1999. Bertha earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Seton Hill College in 1970, and taught at Blessed Sacrament School, Greensburg, from 1970 to 1974. While a resident of Westmoreland County she was active in politics, having served as a Democratic committeewoman. She was a Girl Scout leader for a number of years and served as a local newspaper correspondent for Sewickley Township. She was an active member of Seven Dolors Parish, Yukon, having served as president of the Christian Mothers for several terms. She continued to be active in the church and community in Phoenix. She was a member of the Sunnyslope Recreation Center, where she served as a teacher's aide, and entertained young and old alike as "Lollipop the Clown." A Memorial Mass will be offered at Seven Dolors Church, Yukon, followed by a graveside service at the Seven Dolors Cemetery, Saturday, June 24, 2000, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

FRANK STEPHEN BONDI

Frank Stephen Bondi, 68, of Mt. Oliver, on Tuesday, June 13, 2000. Husband of Joann Rizzo Bondi. Father of Theresa Leive of West Mifflin, Anna Babio of Allentown, Pa., Mary Louise Bailey of Faison, N.C., Rose Marie Frenock of Pleasant Hills, Bernadette Lowther of Zelienople, Andrew Bondi of Natrona Heights and Frank M. Bondi of Dormont. Stepfather of Becky McDermott of Mt. Oliver, Mike Graham of Mt. Oliver and Colleen Graham of Norristown, Pa. Also survived by 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Meeder of Mt. Oliver; and two brothers , Andrew Bondi of Mt. Oliver and Joseph Bondi of McCandless. Mr. Bondi was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Class Airman. Having graduated from Robert Morris College, he became a Certified Public Accountant and a successful entrepreneur of several retail establishments. Friends received Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at BRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, 704 Brownsville Road at Alice Street, Mt. Oliver. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Parish, St. Henry Church. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park.

ELMER GUY

Elmer Guy, 59, of Jeannette, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Claridge, a son of Albert Guy of Jeannette and the late Ruth Marie Rager Guy. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former H&H Foundry, Manor. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Jeannette, the Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, and a life member of the Grandview Fire Department. In addition to his mother , he was preceded in death by an infant sister; and a niece, Ruth Marie Guy. In addition to his Father , survivors include a son, Elmer Guy Jr. and wife, Paula, of Luxor; a daughter, April Elliott of Jeannette; a sister, Laura McGuiggan and husband, Robert, of Jeannette; five brothers , Albert E. "Sonny" Guy and wife, Sally, and Paul F. Guy, all of Jeannette, James W. Guy and wife, Iva Jane, of Hot Springs, Ark., Thomas Guy and Nancy, and Edward Guy and Roberta, all of Jeannette; a grandson, Jonathan Hawes; his ex-wife, Barbara Baker of Ford City; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township.

ANN HAWANCHAK

Ann Hawanchak, 82, of Mt. Pleasant (formerly of Derry), died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, in the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. She was born May 28, 1918, in Baggaley, a daughter of the late John and Mary Stranko Matuszky. She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Latrobe. She was a former cook at the Derry Ukrainian Club and a member of the Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. "Doc" Hawanchak, on Jan. 14, 1986; four brothers , John, Steve, Wallace and Joseph Matuszky; and a sister, Pauline Nemcheck. Survivors include a son, Basil L. Hawanchak and his wife, Sandy, of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers , Anthony Matuszky, Frank Matuszky and Michael Matuszky, all of Baggaley; two sisters , Mary Nemcheck of Baggaley and Rose Kosiba and her husband, Donald, of Latrobe; two grandchildren, James Hawanchak and Laura Zorzi; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Panachida service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary U.C. Church with the Rev. Xavier Elambassery as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.

DONALD R. HIXON

Donald R. Hixon, 82, of Pitcairn, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000. Husband of Harriet N. (McDonald) Hixon; and Father of Francis L. (wife, CiCi) Hixon of California, Wilda L. (husband, Bob) White head of Pitcairn, Elva M. (husband, Spike) Hullihen of Level Green and Donna N. (husband, Phil) Kushnar of Plum. Also survived by three brothers ; a sister; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends received Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Family suggests contributions be sent to: Greater Pittsburgh Chapter National Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. ELIZABETH C. NETZLOF

Elizabeth C. Netzlof, 95, of Latrobe, died Monday, June 12, 2000, in the Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa. She was born July 28, 1904, in Vandergrift, a daughter of the late John G. and Mary (Beatty) Campbell. Prior to her retirement in 1969, Elizabeth was a schoolteacher with Latrobe School District, and had previously been employed by the Vandergrift School District. She was a member and first woman elder of the United Presbyterian Church in Latrobe, a former member of the Laurel Delphians Society, a former member of the Latrobe Business and Professional Women, and a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Westmoreland County Teachers Association. She graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., and was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. Elizabeth also started the first Girl Scout troop in Vandergrift in 1931. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Helmend W. Netzlof in 1990; and her brother, Robert W. Campbell. She is survived by two sons , Robert T. Netzlof of Brockway and William H. Netzlof of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Erich, Roberta, and Michael Netzlof, and Kristin Howard; and two great-grandsons, John and Kurtis Netzlof. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David B. Batchelder officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.

JOHN BRUCE WEINMAN

John Bruce Weinman, 71, of Mt. Pleasant RD4, went to his final rest Monday, June 12, 2000, at his residence. He was born March 25, 1929, in Bridgeport, a son of the late John H. and Alena Dick Weinman. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. He was a student at the former Hurst High School and a charter member of the Bridgeport Sportsmen's Club. Prior to retirement, he was a machinist at U.S. Steel's National Tube Works, McKeesport, and had also been employed by Fisher Body, Dravosburg. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and the United Auto Workers. He is survived by his devoted wife, Norma Myers Weinman, with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary in July; and his loving family, John Kevin Weinman of Bridgeport, Keith Wayne Weinman and his wife, Kathy, of Bridgeport, Kathy Sue Eutsey and husband, Hobart, of Scottdale, Kristin Ann Wastchak and husband, John, of Venetia, Kelly Jean Chiemingo and husband, Todd, of Tabernacle, N.J.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers , Robert Weinman and wife, Mary, of Mt. Pleasant and Daniel Weinman and wife, Annabelle, of Bridgeport; a sister, Betty Weinman of Plano, Texas ; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Homer R. Weinman in 1989. Friends received at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held in the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time his funeral service will be held, with the Rev. Terry R. Trudgen officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlick Cemetery.

ADELE F. (KROBEL) YURIK

Adele F. (Krobel) Yurik, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of North Braddock, on Friday, June 9, 2000. Wife of the late John. mother of Doreen Burger, Ronald, John A., and the late Daniel Yurik. Grandmother of Sharon Yurik and Gina Carrig. Great-grandmother of Nichole Carrig. Also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the RAYMOND J. YUHAS FUNERAL HOME, Main and Franklin streets, Bessemer Terrace, East Pittsburgh. Visitation Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Helen Church of the Holy Cross Parish.

SANDRA Q. ZARZECZNY

Sandra Q. Zarzeczny, 57, of Latrobe, died Friday, May 26, 2000, in IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. She was born Dec. 31, 1942, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Francis and Gladys (Nair) Quinn. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Pelican Inc. in New Derry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Frichtel. She is survived by two daughters , Lisa Quinn of New York City, N.Y., and Jamie Zarzeczny at home; two sisters , Kathryn "Kie" Darazio and husband, Robert, of Latrobe, and Frances Piper and husband, Samuel, of Youngstown, Pa.; her brother, William J. Quinn of Derry; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Friday from 6 to 7 p.m., at which time a memorial blessing service will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Justin Withrow, O.S.B., officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265-0309.
