Aeva Lynne Leonard

Aeva Lynne Leonard was born and went to be with the Angels Friday, May 4, 2007 in the Lock Haven Hospital.

She was the daughter of Jacob M. Leonard and Jennifer Fultz Cooper.

Also surviving are her paternal grandparents, Donna L. Leonard of Jersey Shore and Charles R. Leonard of Oval; her paternal great grandparents, Richard and Catherine Packard of Avis and Clarence and Francis Leonard of Jersey Shore; her maternal grandparents, Charles Cooper of Avis and Wendy Fultz Cooper of Allentown; maternal great grandparents, William Dauberman of Avis and Cynthia Young of Avis, also maternal great great grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Young of Jersey Shore.

Aeva was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Fultz.

Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in the Jersey Shore cemetery. The Rev. Michael Guiswite will officiate.

Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Worthy

Nancy Worthy (mother Worthy), 80, went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Monday, May 7.

mother Worthy lived here for 7 years before moving with her daughter in Philadelphia.

Mom retired from Stranbridge & Clothier. She was an excellent cook and loved being with friends. She was a member of Ebenezer Church.

Nancy leaves to mourn a son, Darryl (Christina); daughter, Linda (Albert); nephew, John Powell (Elizabeth) and many other nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family.

Funeral at mom’s church, Holy Cross Baptist, 63rd and Malverni, Philadelphia, has yet to be planned.

Lois Leipold

Lois (Swanson) Leipold, of Mansfield, went to rest May 6, 2007.

She was predeceased by her husband, James R. Leipold.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Folk and her husband Edwin Folk of Easton; grandchildren, James (Rick) Folk and his wife Krista of Flower Mound, TX; and Heather L. Kupres and her husband David of Pen Argyle; five grandchildren, Ryan, Ben and Gillian Folk and Connor and Emma Kupres.

Lois was a graduate of West Chester University and was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. She was a member of the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association and Pennsylvania State Retirees. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield. She was a long-time volunteer in the gift shop and the out-patient department at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, as well as past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Lois was a former member of Corey Creek Golf Club.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service celebrating Lois’s life and love will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lois’s memory to the SPCA, Mansfield Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield.

Howard K. Miller

Mr. Howard K. Miller, 89, of 361 Curtin St., South Williamsport, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church at South Williamsport.

Howard was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He served honorably with the rank of staff sergeant. He had duty and had served with the military police, infantry and ordnance. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.

Mr. Miller was retired from the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company, where he had been employed as a utility man in the system stores division. He was a member of the P.P.&L. Retirees.

Howard was a graduate of the class of 1935 of the Pine Grove High School. He enjoyed fishing and bicycle riding.

He and his wife, the former Anna Mae Keesey , were united in marriage on February 11, 1942 at Camp Livingston, La. Together they observed 65 years of marriage.

Born September 13, 1917 at Suedburg, Schuykill County, Pa., he was the son of the late Elias and Annie Kreichbaum Miller.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Miller, a guest at Sycamore Manor Health Center, three  daughters and sons-in-law, Linda A. Gordner and her husband, Jay, of South Williamsport; Barbara J. Bobotas and he husband, Andrew, of Montoursville; and Karen L. Silverstrim and her husband, Gary, of South Williamsport; his son, James H. Miller of Philadelphia; his sister, Mrs. Ivie E. Beuchler, of Pine Grove; his five grandchildren, Michael D. Beck, Jeffrey D. Beck and his wife, Cheryl, Michele L. Laudig and her husband, Nate Shipe, John M. Laudig, and Eric G. Silverstrim; and his two great-grandchildren, Brennan T. Beck and Morgan N. Beck.

In addition to his late parents, he was also preceded in death by his late sister, Anna Ulsh, and also by his three late brothers, Lloyd, Ray, and Clayton Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock noon on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church, 409 Main St., South Williamsport. His pastor, Rev. Mark D. Brumbach, will officiate. Interment will follow at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport.

The family respectfully suggests that contributions in memory of Mr. Howard K. Miller may be made, if so desired, to Grace United Methodist Church, 409 Main St., South Williamsport, PA, 17702.

Mary Kerbacher

Mary Kerbacher, 74, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Williamsport, went to be with the good Lord on May 1, 2007.

Born on October 30, 1932, in New York City, she was the daughter of James John and Mary Inverarity Terhune.

Mary graduated from Yonkers High School in 1950 and went to college at Wood Secretarial School in NYC. She worked for Stein Hall & Company and St. Regis Paper Company in New York.

She married Joseph A. Mercurio in 1955 and lived in Upper Nyack, New York. Mary moved to Pennsylvania in 1970 with her six children. She worked for James Armstrong, CPA and then went on to work for Handy and Harmen Automotive Group, working as the executive secretary for the president, Mr. James R. Kraus.

In 1977, she married her husband, Stephen D. Kerbacher. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Naples, Fla., and a member of Annunciation Church of Williamsport. Mary was a member of the Lady Knights Columbiettes and the Red Hat Society, Naples Mad Hatters.

Mary will be deeply missed by a loving husband, Stephen; her children, Mary Jo Dellucci, Charleston, S.C., Mark Mercurio, Ashburn, Va., Michelle (Russell) Clemons, Williamsport, James (Lisa) Mercurio, Jacksonville, Fla., Joseph (Lori) Mercurio, Middletown, N.Y., Anthony (Christine) Mercurio, Tappan, N.Y.,; stepchildren, Donna Ruble, Sumers Point, N.J., Barbara (Luther) Kreitz, Williamsport, Theresa Orwig, Williamsport, Mary Anne Kerbacher, Lancaster, Robin (Jim) Finn, Williamsport; 30 loving grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Colleen Gebbia, Nyack, N.Y.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joseph; uncle Charles Reilly of New York; and stepson, Stephen Kerbacher.

A memorial service was held in Naples, Fla. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial Mass to honor Mary on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Annunciation Church, Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the American Lung Association.

Calvin Welshans

Calvin “Bump” Welshans, 81, husband of June (Weaver) Welshans, of 1358 W. Valley Road, Loganton, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Lock Haven Hospital.

Born in Booneville on November 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Ralph and Jennie (Emig) Welshans.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army.

He was a graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School. A machinist by trade, he retired from the former Titan and Cerro Copper and Brass of Bellefonte in 1986 after 38 years of service.

Bump was a member of the Lafayette Lodge #199 F. and A.M., Lock Haven, and the Williamsport Consistory. He was also a member of the VFW #1600 of Bellefonte and the Sugar Valley Lions Club.

He was a member of the Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Co. #13 and was a member of the Fire Police for many years.

Bump was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years (September 9, 1944); a daughter, Nancy Gower (Richard) of Jersey Shore; two granddaughters, Corinne Paulhamus (Martin) of Linden and Kathy Martin (Randy) of Fleetwood; one great granddaughter, Amanda Paulhamus, and one great grandson, Andrew Paulhamus, both of Linden; and a brother, Elwood “Nook” Welshans (Marilyn) of Greenburr.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald P. (1970); a grandson, Nicholas Snook; and two brothers, Lester and Hillaire “Pete” Welshans.

The funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church, Booneville, with Rev. Nathan Rice officiating. The viewing will be held in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will provide the flowers. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Sugar Valley Volunteer Fire Co. #13, 24 W. Anthony St., Loganton, PA 17747.

Clarissa M. Fritz

Clarissa M. Fritz, 94, Milton, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Kramm Healthcare Center where she had been living the past several years.

Born in Lewis Twp., Northumberland Co. on July 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Margaret E. (Poust) Miller. Her husband, Harold Donald Fritz, died September 11, 1965. She had resided in Turbot Township for many years with her husband.

Clarissa graduated from Watsontown High School in 1932 and was a homemaker.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville with Pastor Amelia Shivers of Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville officiating. Burial will follow in the old section of Turbotville cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Wilma Losch Liddle

Wilma Losch Liddle, 91, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Williamsport, died Tuesday, May 1, in the Sherman House of the Valley Hospice in Phoenix after an illness of several years.

She was born in Crystal City, Texas, on Sept. 15, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Freda Losch of Williamsport. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1933 and subsequently from Lock Haven University. Her teaching career began in a one-room schoolhouse in Quiggleville. She was married to the late Alex Liddle of Williamsport and resided in Perkasie and Shippensburg. She later returned to Williamsport, where she taught at Cochran Elementary School for 15 years. It is hoped that her legacy might be that she made a difference in peoples’ lives through her students.

Her only sister, Doris (Mrs. Laurence P. Maynard Jr.,), survives her. She also is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Timothy Smyth) and grandchildren, Amy, Molly and Matthew, all of Phoenix; a son, James (Darla) of York; stepsons, Blake and Jeremy; daughter, Jane (Mrs. Gary Koser) of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Tracy and Ty. She also is survived by eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service in Wildwood cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dolores Ruth Brownlee Fisher

Dolores Ruth Brownlee Fisher, of 1315 Miller Ave., Williamsport, succumbed to her fight against cancer Monday morning, May 7, 2007. She was surrounded by family and friends at the Hospice Gateway Unit at Divine Providence Hospital.

She is survived by her son, Robert L. Fisher of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and daughter, Michele and her husband Tom Lusk of Cogan Station. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Brownlee and sisters, Doris Sweely, Phyllis Witmer and Frances Santalucia.

Dolores was one of “The Brownlee sisters.” The sisters are local celebrities, singing with big bands around the country during the late 1940s and early 1950s. Once asked why the sisters gave up their singing career, Dolores replied without hesitation, “We would rather start families and have babies.” And that they did. Between the four sisters, there were a total of 17 children.

Dolores, known to all as “Do” (pronounced with a long ‘o’), was an entrepreneur partnering with her late husband, Robert, in the antique and rare book business. Their business was located on Pine Street in Williamsport.

But for those who knew her best, she will be remembered for her unyielding faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. And her gift of kindness to every person with whom she crossed paths. Her love of God, and her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ, was a constant comfort and source of strength in her last days.

A special thanks to the Brownlee, Witmer, Santalucia, Sweely Families and Christal and Steve Eiswerth for their incredible support to the Fisher Family during a most difficult time.

The entire family will always remember and love one of the kindest souls God has blessed our family with, Dolores Brownlee Fisher. May God Bless You and Keep You.

Funeral services will be at Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, May 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held May 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Dolores will be laid to rest in Wildwood cemetery.

The family would ask that instead of flowers, donations be made in Do Fisher’s name to Hospice for their incredible ministry to the individuals and the families in these times of family grief.

Janet E. Davis

Janet E. Davis, age 66, of Tioga, died on Friday, May 4, 2007, in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at the Evergreen cemetery, Tioga.

Services are under the direction of the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield.

Dorothy M. Ziegler

Dorothy M. (Ziggi) Ziegler, 92, a resident of Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, died May 4, 2007, at Valley View.

Born in Franklindale on Oct. 30, 1915, she was a daughter of Bradford and Lena Ellis.

Dorothy was a homemaker and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

She was raised in Dushore and was a graduate of Towanda High School. She was a member of the Top of the Hill Senior Citizens Club.

Her husband, Sylvester G. Ziegler, died April 26, 1975.

Surviving are her children, Gerald L. (Sally) Ziegler of Hollister, Calif. and Sylvia (Lynn) Weishaupt of Williamsport, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Her sisters, Christine Overpeck and Mary Fischer and brothers, Sterling Ellis and Edsel Ellis, preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Her pastor Msgr. Stephen McGough will officiate. Interment will be in St. Boniface cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Divine Providence Hospital Foundation for the benefit of the Alzheimer’s Support Group, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Geraldine M. Loudenslager

Geraldine Marie Loudenslager, age 84, of Liberty, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.

Geraldine was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Montoursville, the daughter of the late Abraham and Marjorie Hall Pittenger.

Geraldine was a member of Freidens Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dayton P. Loudenslager; sons, Paul A. (Debra) Loudenslager of Willow Spring, N.C., Dayton P. (Cheryl) Loudenslager of Tioga and Terry R. (Bonnie) Loudenslager of Liberty; brothers, Tom Pittenger of Williamsport, Harley Pittenger of Muncy, Abraham Pittenger of Muncy; sisters, Gertrude Heller of Farragut, Isabell Rathmell of South Williamsport; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Faye Beck.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Freeberg Funeral Home, 120 N. Williamson Road, Blossburg, on Monday, May 7, from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at Freidens Lutheran Church, Liberty, with visitation from 10 - 11 a.m., with services following at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Byerly officiating. Interment will follow at Freidens cemetery.

Donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to Freidens Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

Tracy J. Ogden

Tracy J. Ogden, 52, of New Cumberland died Friday, May 4, 2007, at her home.

She was a member and Music Director at Community United Methodist Church, 16th and Bridge Streets, New Cumberland.

She was a 1973 Graduate of Clearfield High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1976 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a teacher at Cumberland Valley School of Music, Chambersburg. She was a member of Suzuki Violin Association and Delta Omicron Music Fraternity.

In addition to music, she enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.

She was born April 22, 1955 in Clearfield to Robert M. and the late Joanne S. (Knerr) McGarry.

In addition to her  Father, she is survived by her husband, The Rev. Scott R. Ogden; children, Jonathan R. of Austin, Erin E. of Chambersburg, Scott R. and Bevin J. both of New Cumberland; her step mother Constance R. McGarry of Clearfield; brother, Michael J. McGarry of Bradford; three sisters, Terry L. McGarry of Camp Hill, Kimberly A. Clukey and B.J. Sterndale both of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Clearfield.

Visitations will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland and from 10-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at her church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CPCUMC, Camping and Retreats Commission, 303 Mulberry Drive, PO Box 2053, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055-2053.
