A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at Troy’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Assisting with arrangements is Pepper Funeral Home in Canton.
Harry J. Bigelow
Harry J. Bigelow, 79, of 1693 Pine Run Road, Linden, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at his home.
Harry’s wife, the former Carolyn M. Betron, died June 2, 2002.
Harry retired in 1989 from Pullman Power with 30 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and Korea, a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church, Plumbers Local 520 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and building dollhouses and model airplanes and painting.
Born March 7, 1928, in Elmira, NY, he was the son of Cortland W. and Margaret E. Turner Bigelow.
Surviving are sons, Jay A. of Dover, Ross O. (Wendi) of Fredericktown, Ohio and Harry J. Jr. (Deb) of Linden; daughters, Jan Marie (Mark) Starr of Linden and Renee S. (Matt) Doughty of Jersey Shore; a brother, Francis R. (Ruth Ann) of Nisbet; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Philip D. Meanor officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the church memorial fund, 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden, PA 17744.
Margaret E. Curry
Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Curry, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, died peacefully on May 9, 2007, with her loving family at her side.
Born May 15, 1925, Peggy was the daughter of Ella Mae McGlaughlin and Thomas H. Jones of Pittsburgh.
She was a registered nurse graduating from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Magee Women’s Hospital for 35 years.
She was preceded in death by former husband Raymond S. Curry.
She is survived by her four devoted children, Paul F. (Sue) Curry of Erie, Christine L. (Steve) Kaiser of Williamsport, Mark R. (Hattie) Curry of South Park, and Karen S. Danforth of Upper St. Clair; her nine grandchildren, Julie, Jenny, Scott, Robert, Diane, Steven, Mark, Allyson and Savannah; one great-grandchild, Wyatt; and two sisters, Ella Mae Shepherd of W. Hartford, Conn. and Sue Ford of Richmond, Va.

George E. Waltman
George E. Waltman, 83, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Muncy Valley Hospital. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, November 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Leonard W. and Jesse F. (Klinefelter) Waltman.
He was the widower of Nancy G. (Greenly) Waltman who preceded him in death on December 7, 2004.
George was a 1941 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. He served during the Second World War with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a ball turret gunner on a B-24 having served 25 missions from Italy. George earned the distinguished flying medal.
George was employed as a mail carrier by the Montgomery Post Office for 33 years retiring in 1979. He also retired from Century 21 Real Estate in 1982.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church at Montgomery, PA. George was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was a loving husband, Father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by his entire family.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Peggy Waltman, Brookville, PA; Craig and Alice Waltman, Loyalsock, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Donald Edwards, Muncy, PA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy L. Waltman; one brother, Harry Waltman and one sister, Grace Blake.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 14, 2007, with Rev. Dr. Donald P. Edwards, his son-in-law, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations. The family will provide the flowers.
