Leroy J. Anthony
Greensburg

Leroy J. Anthony, 76, formerly residing at 29 Clopper St., Greensburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in the Atrium Advanced Care Facility, Pittsburgh. Mr. Anthony was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Greensburg, to the late Ira I. and Josephine Anthony. He was a retired career sergeant in the United States Army Medical Corps and had served as a sharpshooter in the European occupation following World War II. His Medical Corps years were spent in the Korean War theater and the Bay of Pigs, two tours of duty in Vietnam and a final duty tour at Valley Forge Military Hospital. While in the military, Mr. Anthony received the National Defense service medal with oak leaf cluster, the United Nations service medal, the Korean service medal, good conduct medals, the Army of Occupation medal, the Vietnam service medal and the Republic of Vietnam campaign ribbon. During his many years of residence in Greensburg, he was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral parish family and also held membership in the Greensburg VFW, the DAV and American Legion organizations, and the Autumn Leaves and Greater Greensburg Senior Citizens associations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Michael Anthony. Surviving relatives include a sister, Margaret R. Hrebik and husband, Steve; a niece, Patricia A. Goulding and her husband, Robert E.; a nephew, Michael W. Anthony Hrebik; great-nieces and -nephews, Robert and Sharon Goulding, Thomas and Kim Goulding, Gregory and Russett Goulding, Margie Goulding Chappel, Martin Goulding and Terrance Goulding; great-great-nieces and -nephews, Zachary Goulding, Alyssa, Stephanie and Kara Chappel and Nicholas, Jeremiah and Leena-Marie Goulding. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic cemetery, with full military honors accorded by VFW Post 33, Greensburg. Terence L. Graft, funeral director in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Harry G. Austin Jr.
Richland Township

Dr. Harry G. Austin Jr., 85, co-chairman of the board of James Austin Co. in Mars, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001. He was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 24, 1916, son of the late Harry G. and Mazie (Teufel) Austin. Mr. Austin graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He was discharged as a major in the infantry and received a Bronze Star. He served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, was former president of Smaller Manufacturer's Council in Pittsburgh and a member and former chairman of the board of trustees at La Roche College, where he received an honorary doctorate in business administration in 1988. In 1976, he was appointed to the U.S. Treasury Small Business Advisory Committee. In 1977, he was named Small Businessman of the Year in areas including Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and Washington D.C., and served on the Small Business Task Force on Venture and Equity Capital for Small Business. He also served the Small Business Administration Region Three, Pittsburgh Advisory Council, was a member of Pittsburgh Athletic Association and a member of Butler Country Club. He was elected to the board of directors of Mars National Bank in 1969 and became director emeritus in 2000. Beloved husband for 44 years of Roseann (Yarchak) Austin. Dear  Father of Harry G. Austin III of Wexford and J. Douglas Austin of Richland; brother of Madeleine Samarco of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jack Austin of Adams Twp. and Dr. James Austin of Boston, Mass.; grandfather of Harry IV, Brian and Colleen Austin. Cecilia A. (Ontko) Barclay
Brooklyn, Ohio

Cecilia A. (Ontko) Barclay, 77, of Brooklyn, Ohio, died Saturday evening, Oct. 13, 2001, in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon, Ohio, following a short illness. She was born in 1924 in Iselin, Pa., to the late Joseph and Mary (Ribar) Ontko. She had lived the past 20 years in Brooklyn, Ohio. She retired in 1989 as a bookkeeper for many years for Serv-A-Rack in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended St. Thomas More Church in Brooklyn. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She is survived by two  daughters, Mrs. Russell (Sandra) Thomas of Jeannette and Mrs. Walter (Carol) Radowenchuk of North Ridgeville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Justine, Dean, Jody, Michael and Adam; three great-grandchildren, Mattis, Thomas and Cassandra; two sisters and two brothers, Elizabeth Baughman and Anna Marie Rivardo and Raymond and Theodore Ontko, all of Jeannette. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Barclay, in 1988; a son, Robert Barclay; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph Ontko. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the BUSCH-BOGNER FAMILY CHAPEL, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, Ohio, 440-327-7472, where a service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Misenko of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Avon, Ohio, officiating. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.

Ruth Ganzle Boette
Formerly of Pittsburgh

Ruth Ganzle Boette, 90, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in St. Francis Nursing Center, Cranberry, following an extended illness. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George and Helena Boyer Ganzle of Brooklyn. During her lifetime, Mrs. Boette raised two sons, Jonathan Boette of Litchfield, N.H., and Les Boette of Beckley, W.Va. She volunteered at Bridgeport Connecticut Hospital and loved to oil paint still lifes and portraits. She lived in Brooklyn until her marriage to John Frederick Boette, whereupon they moved to Stratford, Conn., for most of their marriage. The couple also resided in Litchfield, N.H., for over 10 years before moving to the Pittsburgh area in 1992. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George of New York and Carl of Connecticut, and a sister, Marion Early of Ohio. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John Boette; her sons, Jonathan and his wife Ingrid, and Leslie and his wife Eleanor; also five grandchildren, Kevin, Scott, Mark, David and Amy Webb; two great-granddaughters; and several nephews. Private services were held in the GEORGE A. THOMA FUNERAL HOME, INC. in Wexford.

Mary Lou Bonay

Mary Lou Bonay, 55, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001. Mrs. Bonay was a former employee of the Military Entrance Processing Station at the Federal Building in Pittsburgh. She was a daughter of the late John and Anna Marie Bonay; sister of John Bonay of Harrison City, Barbara Humeniuk of Forest Hills, Thomas Bonay of Washington, Larry Bonay of Wilkes-Barre and the late Deborah Bonay. Thomas Boring
Saltsburg

Thomas Boring, 48, of Saltsburg, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in the Beacon Manor Nursing Home, Indiana, Pa. He was born Sept. 17, 1953, in Amsterdam, N.Y., a son of the late David and Marian R. (Brennan) Boring. He lived and worked in San Francisco, Calif., for 12 years, but lived most of his life in Saltsburg. He had been employed by the Presidio Hospital in San Francisco as an X-ray technician for 12 years, then returned to Saltsburg where he managed a Glassmart Food Store for seven years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and William Boring; and a sister, Joan Bell. Survivors include a brother, Ronald Boring of Saltsburg; a sister, Linda Kier of Clayton, N.C.; and nieces and nephews. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg, with the Rev. Daniel Satler officiating. Interment is private.

Harry F. Busch
Greensburg

Harry F. Busch, 90, of Greensburg (Penn Township), died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 13, 1911, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Anthony and Amellia Busch. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a security guard at J&L Steel. He was a political advocate and a Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Hanna and Sarah Landers; and a son, Donald R. Busch. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Busch; two grandchildren, Richard D. Busch and his wife, Kimberly, of New Stanton and Sharon L. Dale and her husband, Beecher, of Greensburg; three great-grandchildren, Richard and Hannah Busch and Sarah Dale; a special friend, Eleanor Ernette; a sister; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Busch's family will receive friends at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Alberta (Weaver) Carr, on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001. Mrs. Carr was a retired school crossing guard in Etna. She was the beloved wife of the late Thaddus L. Carr; mother of Margaret C. (John) Fedunok and Dorothy Mae (Bob) Fellows, all of Brookline, Carrie (Jim) Born of Saxonburg and Andrew G. (Joanne) Carr of Lyndora, Pa. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Celebrating Mrs. Carr's life with her family in the FRANK R. Michelle Dawn Davis, age 30, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born March 27, 1971, in Nuremberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Darrell and Sandra Carney Davis. A 1989 graduate of United High School, Ms. Davis received her bachelor's of science in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1993. She was employed as an emergency room nurse for Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Surviving are her parents of Brush Valley; her sister and best friend, Erica Davis of Brush Valley; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Anna Mae Stewart Davis of Armagh; aunts and uncles, Wanda Davis of Pittsburgh, Denise Ponczak and husband Edward of Monroeville, Barry Davis and wife Cheryl of Bellefonte, Robin Kuzmyak and husband Gregg, and Donald Carney and wife Doris, all of Homer City, Dorothy Mahalic of Saltsburg, Eileen Cole and husband Richard, and Della Carney, all of New Concord, Ohio, Robert Carney and wife Willie of Shelby, N.C., Fred Carney and wife Eileen of New Florence, Earl Carney and wife Margaret of Seward, Ira Stiles and wife Pauline of Ohio, and Pat and Gary Payne of Baton Rouge, La. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicola Fiorentino; two sons, Nick and Tom Fiorentino; three sisters, Fannie Dinzeo, Daisy D'Alessandro and Sophie Martinelli; and two brothers, Leonard and James Madonna. She is survived by two  daughters, Marion (Rege) Welsh and Roselle (Jim) Chrise; two sisters, Florence Caruso and Violet Kissel; a brother, Thomas Madonna; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Born in McKeesport on April 14, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Szpak) Szekalski. Mrs. Kula and her late husband, Eugene J. Kula, owned and operated the Deluxe Dry Cleaners in West Newton for over 40 years. A member of the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township, she was also a member of the New Society and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers of the church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Lacey Kula of Alexandria, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Clara and William Zalakar of North Huntingdon; three grandchildren, Heather Cox, Ryan Kula and Jon Kula; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Kula, on March 6, 1995. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township.
