Rebecca M. “Becky” Stump

MILTON — Rebecca M. “Becky” Stump, 93, of 50 Mahoning St., Milton, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2008, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born April 14, 1914, in Potts Grove, she was the daughter of the late Russell G. and Pearl E. (Wallize) Coup.
She and her husband, Joseph N. Stump, were married Aug. 20, 1932. He died March 26, 1977.
Mrs. Stump graduated from Potts Grove High School with the Class of 1932.
She was a waitress and cook at the Loyal Order of Moose, Milton, for 32 years and later a cook at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Milton.
Mrs. Stump was a life member of the Moose Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternal Order of Eagles auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Milton Senior Action Center, the Friendly Diners Club, a past deputy grand regent of the Women of the Moose of Eastern Pennsylvania 1968/1969 and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed crocheting and bowling.
Mrs. Stump is survived by three sons and two  daughters-in-law, Richard L. and Alma Stump of Milton, Kenneth E. Stump of Milton and Robert L. and Donna Stump of West Milton; seven grandchildren, Timothy Stump, Patti Herman, Michael Stump, Scot Stump, Teresa Williams, Joseph Stump and Steven Stump; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Coup of White Deer; two sisters, Bertha Keefer of Lewisburg and Pauline Moser of Denver; and a daughter-in-law, Marianne Stump of Milton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Stump Jr. and William E. Stump; two brothers, Sidney Coup and James Coup; and a sister Myrtle Hauck.
Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Rubens Ruba officiating. Burial will be in the Church Hill cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mooseheart, c/o Moose Charities, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, Ill. 60539-1100.

Winifred Mary Wirth Stroup

Winifred Mary Wirth Stroup, 88, of 366 Gessner Road, for the past 33 years, died Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2007, in her home.
Born April 21, 1919, in New York, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elva (Chamberlain) Ross.
Her first husband, Paul E. Wirth, preceded her in death on June 17, 1968. In August 1974, she married Harold T. Stroup, who survives.
Mrs. Stroup was employed at Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, Milton, for many years. Earlier in life, she was employed at the Milton Cannery and Colonial Furniture, Freeburg.
She was a member of the Sunrise United Methodist Church, Kelly Township.
Mrs. Stroup enjoyed listening to music, attending to her many plants and flowers at her home and collecting dolls.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Helen Wirth of Hartleton; two  daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Elwood Smith of Lewisburg and Rosalie and Karl Shaffer of Linglestown; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Ross of Lewisburg; two stepsons, Charles F. Stroup of Richfield and Harold J. Stroup and his companion Betty Strahan of Richfield; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Shirley L. and Richard Knouse of Richfield; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and two longtime caretakers, Kathy Weaver and Jean Jones.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Ross; one granddaughter, Donna Raker; one stepgreat-great-grandson; three half sisters; and two half brothers.
There will be no public viewing. Visitors may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Forest Hill United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Daniel H. Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery.

Mary M. Rohrbach

LEWISBURG — Mary M. Rohrbach, 95, of 1760 Adams Ave., Lewisburg, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, in Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
Born Nov. 5, 1912, in Aristes, she was a daughter of the late Miles Edward and Mary Henrietta (Miller) Kostenbauder.
Her husband of 59 years, Carl Luther Rohrbach, died Dec. 28, 1998. They lived in Aristes, Mt. Carmel and Lewisburg before moving to Glen Burnie and then Severna Park, Md.
She was a graduate of Conyngham Township High School, Aristes.
Between the years of 1955 and 1975, Mrs. Rohrbach was employed by Westinghouse Electric (engineering department) in security control and later as a data compiler.
She was a member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Rohrbach enjoyed cooking for her family.
Surviving are nine nieces and nephews, Robert and Edward Kostenbauder, Lynn Tiley, Joan Cox, Diane Pursley, Linda Trundt, Nancy Kostenbauder, Lystra Turner and Lawson Fetterman; one stepnephew; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Kostenbauder of California and Marian Kostenbauder of Telford.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Miles E. Rohrbach, in 2005.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where the Lewisburg Chapter 394 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service at 10:45.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Zion United Methodist cemetery, Aristes.
The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, Pa. 17837.

Myrtle L. Erb

Myrtle L. Erb, 90, a resident of Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, and formerly of Upper Market St., Milton, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in the nursing home.
Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Selah and Helen (Lytle) Ryan.
She and her husband, Glen W. Erb, were married for 49 years until his death July 16, 1996.
Mrs. Erb was a homemaker.
She was a former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Milton.
Mrs. Erb was a member of the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Milton.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry L. Lamb of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry W. and Marjorie Keefer of Milton; a granddaughter, Tamara White; and a great-granddaughter, Megan White.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dawn; three brothers, Charles, Ray and Bruce Ryan; and a sister, Mary Ebright.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Harmony cemetery, Milton, with the Rev. John H. Shaw III officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.

Carol D. (Sampsell) Kirkner

MUNCY — Carol D. (Sampsell) Kirkner, 52, of Muncy, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in her home.
Born Feb. 18, 1955 in Chester, she was the daughter of Ralph W. and Elizabeth “Alice” (Huffmaster) Sampsell of Turbotville.
She and her husband of 24 years, Kevin J. Kirkner, were married Dec. 23, 1983.
Mrs. Kirkner was a 1973 graduate of Warrior Run High School and a graduate of Empire Beauty School.
She was most recently employed as the dairy manager at Scott’s Grocery Store in Montoursville.
She was an avid animal-lover and especially enjoyed spending time with her pets.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric C. and Rachel Gordner of Muncy and Casey J. Kirkner, at home; twin granddaughters, Brianna Marie and Tori Diane Gordner; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl L. and Edward Bressler of Lewistown; and her mother-in-law, Donna G. Kirkner of Muncy.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Paradise Street, Turbotville, with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux officiating. Those planning to attend are asked to dress casually and bring photographs and other memory items to share.
A luncheon will follow the memorial service in the fellowship hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, Pa. 17701; Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 277, Turbotville, Pa. 17772 or to one’s own local SPCA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.

Louise Marie Adams

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Louise Marie Adams, 54, of Millstone Township, N.J., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, following a battle with a terminal illness.
Born March 11, 1953, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Ray and Nancy Ard of Lewisburg.
She and her husband, Greg Adams, were married in 1974.
Mrs. Adams graduated from Lewisburg High School with the Class of 1971. As a senior in high school, she was named Miss Betty Crocker of Union County. She continued her education at Penn State University and Williamsport Area Community College.
She was employed as an executive administrative assistant at Fusion Energy, Princeton, N.J., and later worked for Genetech Pharmaceuticals.
Mrs. Adams was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Millstone, N.J.
She was a member of 4-H and served on the Millstone LL auxiliary and the Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company auxiliary.
She enjoyed showing horses and cattle, the outdoors, wildlife, her flower garden and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by a son, Gregory, of Charlottesville, Va.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tim and Eileen of Lancaster and Alan and Kyle of Lewisburg; two nieces, Leah and Danielle Ard; and a nephew, Ryan Ard.
Visitors may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road and New Road, Monmouth Junction, N.J.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the HUMC Foundation, 360 Essex St., Suite 301, Hackensack, N.J. 07061. Please note in memory of Louise Adams for multiple myeloma research.

Noah Lucas Bierly

MONTGOMERY — Noah Lucas Bierly was stillborn Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was the son of Cory A. Bierly and Jill N. Kinney of Montgomery.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Pamela and Douglas Kinney of Montgomery; his paternal grandmother, Carol Bierly of Mifflinburg; his paternal great-grandparents, Dean and Sylvia Bierly of Mifflinburg and Mervin and Edna Aikey of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dean Bierly Jr.; and his maternal great-grandparents, Elwood and Dorothy Hans and Floyd and Lois Kinney.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Fairview cemetery, 1706 cemetery Road, Montgomery, with the Rev. Daniel H. Hicks, pastor of the Buffalo Valley United Methodist Charge, officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 East Houston Ave., Montgomery.

Betty J. Yocum

MILTON — Betty J. Yocum, 82, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, where she had been residing since July.
Born July 9, 1925, in Montour County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph R. “Mac” and Grace Edna (Poust) DeWald. She was the oldest of nine children.
Her husband, Lester Yocum, died in 1984.
Mrs. Yocum worked at Montgomery Mills, where she served as a union steward.
She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and traveling. She liked sewing and working in her garden. She often made floral arrangements to share with others.
She was a former member of the Turbotville Lioness Club for many years, having served as president, chaplain and with their stands at the Turbotville Carnival and the Hughesville Fair until her health failed.
Mrs. Yocum attended clown school in Williamsport with her friend Fay Kessler, and together they clowned at many parades and parties and entertained children at the Benton Rodeo.
She enjoyed many activities while residing at the nursing home, especially baking and making new friends.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, where she was in the choir and served on church council. She also attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Milton with her daughter.
Following her husbands death, Mrs. Yocum lived in Danville with her companion Leo Cero for 20 years until her health failed and she relocated to Watsontown in 2006. Cero died in 2007.
Mrs. Yocum is survived by two  daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Jane and Dennis Fish of Selinsgrove and Alice Mae “Amy” and Ronald Mull of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary W. and Cleo Yocum of New Columbia; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Tamara White of Milton, Robert and Brenda White of Lewisburg, Denise and Paul Zerbe of Mifflinburg, Dane and Peggy Fish of Sunbury, Kelly Smith of Florida, Sheri and John Yingling of Williamsport and Ronda and Shawn Burkhart of Milton; 17 great-grandchildren; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie and Sidney St.Clair of Turbotville, Dorothy and Donald Warner of Texas, Gerri and Paul Cashner of Shamokin Dam, Annabelle and Paul Erlston of Catawissa, Nancy and Kenneth Kremer of Benton and Peggy and Raymond Fryling of Danville; and a brother, Ralph R. DeWald Jr. of Muncy.
A brother, Robert Nile DeWald died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Mahoning St., Milton, with the Revs. Cheryl Berner and Wayne Muthler officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian cemetery, McEwensville.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church in Milton or to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 3249 N. Old Trail, Shamokin Dam, Pa. 17876.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville.

Larry E. Russell Sr.

SUNBURY — Larry E. Russell Sr., 58, of 134 N. Fifth St., Sunbury, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in his home.
Born Aug. 27, 1949, in Lewisburg, he was a son of Mary E. (Gemberling) Russell of Milton and the late Raymond B. Russell Sr.
His companion for the past 14 years is Dorothy Derk of Sunbury.
He was an independent carpet layer.
Mr. Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, taking walks, reading his Bible and being a grandfather.
In addition to his mother and companion, he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry E. Jr. and Judy Russell of Danville, Dennis D. Russell and companion Anna Decker of Lewisburg and Keil Russell of Mifflinburg; 11 grandchildren, Krisa Spriggle, Todd Russell, Rodney Glover, Justin Russell, Mariah Seaman, Lakota Russell, Nakota Russell, Laticia Jackson, Erica Jackson, Crystal Jackson, and Douglas Jackson Jr.; a great-grandson; four brothers, Raymond B. Russell Jr. of Chesterfield, N.J., Jack A. Russell of Bordentown, N.J., James F. Russell Sr. of Montandon and David W. Russell of Milton; and two sisters, Bonnie L. Lupo of Milton and Debra A. White of Greenwood, Ark.
He was preceded in death by infant children, Todd B. Russell and Tricia A. Russell; and a brother, Michael B. Russell.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, with the Rev. Roosevelt Brown officiating. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a fund to help pay his final expenses, c/o Bonnie Lupo, 6 Old Orchard Lane, Milton, Pa. 17847.

Doris M. Flickinger

LEWISBURG — Doris M. Flickinger, 84, a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg, and formerly of 220 Eighth St., Watsontown, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, in the nursing home.
Born Dec. 8, 1923, in Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Margaret (Weir) Getz.
Her husband, Harry S. Flickinger, died in 1999.
Mrs. Flickinger graduated from Sunbury High School with the Class of 1941.
She was employed by the Jasper Wood Products, later the Masonite Corp., Watsontown.
Mrs. Flickinger enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Blue Tee Golf Club, Milton.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. Braham of Lewisburg; a grandson and his wife, Richard and Samantha Russell of New Columbia; two great-grandsons, Elijah and Daniel; and a brother, William Getz of Sunbury.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Holtzapple.
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. John E. Lee officiating.
Burial will be in the Watsontown cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Frederick G. Sanders Sr.

Frederick G. Sanders Sr., 84, of 13 Vertie Lane, Milton, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in his home. He was the husband of the late Alberta Edith Wilson Sanders.
Born Aug. 28, 1923, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Estelle Gumps Sanders.
Mr. Sanders was the owner of the former Fred Roofing and Siding in Ashland and later in Sarasota, Fla.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. Mr. Sanders received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and American Campaign Medal.
He attended St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.
Mr. Sanders loved his children, grandchildren, pets and wild animals.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frederick G. Jr. and Cindy Sanders of Sarasota, Fla., and Joseph J. Sanders of Elkton, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. and Christopher Stratton of Milton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Jack Blake of Philadelphia; and a sister-in-law, Joy Ryan of Sarasota, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg.
