Catharine E. Allabach

Enjoyed family

WATSONTOWN - Catharine E. "Kate" Allabach, 71, of Dentler Road, Watsontown, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in her home.

Born Oct. 5, 1932, in White Hall, she was the daughter of Frederick and Katie S. (Menges) Moser.

She and her husband, Miles W. Allabach, celebrated 54 years of marriage Aug. 28.

Mrs. Allabach was a dealer of Stanley Home Products and judge of elections for the East District, Delaware Township, for several years.

Earlier in life, she had worked at the West Company, Montgomery Mills and the former Zenith Corporation, Watsontown.

She was a member of the Montoursville Senior Citizens and enjoyed bingo and playing cards.

Mrs. Allabach enjoyed baking and entering baked goods in area fairs. She enjoyed taking care of her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Millard L. Allabach and his fiancée, Teena Kepler, of Watsontown, and Royce and Pat Allabach of Elimsport; three  daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda L. and Michael Benfer, Gale A. Gelnett, and Roberta Y. and Alan Willow, all of Watsontown; a brother and sister-in-law, Cyril L. Sr. and Anna Moser of Muncy; and a sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Leonard Styer of Danville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stuart Moser and Jerome F. Moser Sr.; a sister, Sevilla Golder; and a granddaughter, Amy J. Allabach.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the William F. Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Paradise Street, Turbotville.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. A. Bruce Amme, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian cemetery, McEwensville.

Brandon M. Chillis

Milton Area High School graduate

MIFFLINBURG - Brandon Michael Chillis, 27, of 760 Green St., Mifflinburg, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident at Furnace and Grove roads, Buffalo Township, Union County.

He lived in Mifflinburg for the last six years and prior to that, he lived in Middleburg.

Born Nov. 13, 1976, in Ashland, Schuylkill County, he was the son of Louis Joseph Chillis of 404 Oakland Ave., Ashland, and Sandra Lee Frederick Worrell of 10 N. Fifth St., Mifflinburg.

He graduated from Milton Area High School with the Class of 1994.

He earned his bachelor's degree in history from Bloomsburg University in 2001.

Following graduation from college, he worked in the produce and bakery departments of Giant, Shamokin Dam.

He was an avid Penn State football fan and supported all Penn State athletics.

Earlier in life, he attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ashland.

In addition to his mother and  Father, he is survived by a stepfather, Anthony Richard Worrell of Mifflinburg; a maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Gotshall of Mifflinburg; a maternal great-grandmother, Alice Winifred Keister of Laurelton; a sister, Chastity L. James of Mifflinburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gregory S. and Jocelyn M. Valentine of Harrisburg and Dr. Danny L. and Evangeline O. Valentine of Middletown; a nephew, Dylan J. Valentine of Middletown; and a niece, Paige A. Santer of Mifflinburg.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. George's Church, 775 Forest Hill Road, Mifflinburg, by the Rev. Patrick J. Shannon, associate pastor of the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Church cemetery, West Buffalo Township, Union County.

Visitors will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday in the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg and New Berlin.

Elvin L. Fry

World War II veteran

ALLENWOOD - Elvin L. "Stony" Fry, 78, of 903 Gap Road, Allenwood, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, in his home following an extended illness.

Born March 20, 1925, in Montgomery, Lycoming County, he was the son of the late Arthur B. and Ismay (Stamets) Fry.

He and his wife, Margery P. (Pauling) Fry, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary April 15, 2003.

Mr. Fry was a 1942 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Stony retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at Montoursville, in 1987.

He was an active member of the Elimsport United Methodist Church.

He was a former Washington Township supervisor.

Mr. Fry and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the 50 states.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two  daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret L. and David Kennedy of Allenwood and Kathryn S. and George Heiges of Haughton, La.; a sister, Thelma J. Raymond of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Jeremy Kennedy, Erin Kennedy, Stephanie Heiges and Jaimie Heiges.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday in the Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 Route 44, Elimsport with the Rev. Max W. Furman, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Elimsport cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Monday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Elimsport United Methodist Church, 433 Gap Road, Allenwood, PA 17810 or to the Susquehanna Home Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Ave., Montgomery.

Aaron "Pete" Benfer

(May 29, 1932 - October 19, 2011)

Aaron W. (Pete) Benfer, Sr., 79, a resident of Watsontown, PA, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the Muncy Valley Hospital following an extended illness. Born in East Buffalo Twp., Union Co., PA, on Sunday, May 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Ammon and Beulah (Baker) Benfer.

Pete was the widower of Hazel S. (Derr) Benfer who preceded him in death on February 15, 2009.

He was employed in the maintenance department of the former J.C. Decker Co. at Montgomery, PA for over 57 years and was also the caretaker of Fairview cemetery for over 57 years.

Pete was a social member of the Turbotville V.F.W. Post 8206, the Bower-Decker American Legion Post #251 at Montgomery and the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by three sons and  daughters-in-law, Wayne F. and Virginia Benfer, Muncy, PA; Aaron W. and Azel Benfer, Jr., Muncy, PA; Harold E. and Taffy Benfer, Watsontown, PA; four  daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra L. and Robert Hackenberg, Winfield, PA; Karen S. Tupper, Muncy, PA; Patty A. Miller, Montgomery, PA; Brenda Lee Price, York, PA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Pete was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church, 41 West Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 with Reverend Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. The family requests no flowers. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Warrior Run Area Fire Department, 1125 Main Street, Watsontown, PA 17777 or to the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co., 24 Montgomery Street, Montgomery, PA 17752.

Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.

Clayton M. Fox

Former Montgomery mayor

MONTGOMERY - Clayton M. Fox, 76, of 110 Montgomery St., Montgomery, died at 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 in the Muncy Valley Hospital where he was taken after being stricken at his residence.

Marion D. Vitkus

Retired Montgomery teacher

MONTGOMERY - Marion D. Vitkus, 95, a resident of Montgomery, died at 2:53 a.m on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 in the Valley View Nursing Center at Montoursville.

Born in Emmons, Columbia County, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Reuben C. and Matrona Grace (Levan) Dunn.

Ruth A. Ferguson

Williamsport native

MONTOURSVILLE - Ruth A. Ferguson, 75, a resident of Valley View Nursing Home, Montoursville, and formerly of Williamsport, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in the nursing home.

Tina K. Sheaffer

Tina K. Sheaffer, 51, of Penns Creek, died at 3:37 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born Nov. 24, 1956, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. “Bucky” and Florence (Finck) DeHart.

She and her husband, Craig D. Sheaffer, were married Feb. 26, 1982.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mifflinburg.

Mrs. Sheaffer enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jason Musser and his fiance Gina Clark of Shamokin and Joseph Sheaffer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two  daughters, Samantha Eisenhart and her companion Michael Salter II of Selinsgrove and Nicole Sheaffer and her companion Jeremy Hendricks of Beaver Springs; six grandchildren, Michael Simon, Alexandria Simon, Julianna Eisenhart, Jonathan Eisenhart, Farrah Sheaffer, Jason T. Musser, II; a brother, Rickey E. DeHart of Millmont; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wendy L. Sampsell and her companion David A. Tittle of Middleburg, Florence E. Ralston of Mifflinburg, Roberta J. and Gregory L. Dorman of Mifflinburg and Holly A. and William R.J. Swede of New Berlin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin grandsons who died in infancy; a sister, Vicki Marie Mullany.

Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with John R. Rakow, guest minister of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Hill Top cemetery, Mifflinburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania, The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St., 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219-1916.

Brian Eugene Foust

HOWARD — Brian Eugene Foust, 46, of 137 Maple St., Howard, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Born Nov. 20, 1961, in Lawton, Okla., he was a son of Nancy L. (Folk) Foust of Howard and the late Franklin Eugene Foust, who died Sept. 27, 1996.

During his high school years at Bald Eagle Area High School and following his graduation in 1980, he worked at a service station formerly owned by Stewart Boone, then David
Bronson and later Pete Weaver.

He played Little League and Jr. League baseball. In addition, he played on the Howard Hawks county team and later managed the Milesburg county team.

An avid collector of sports cards, he owned Big B’s Baseball Card Shop in Bellefonte for 20 years until closing the shop in 1999. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers and also supported Bald Eagle Area High School wrestling.

At the age of 16, Mr. Foust joined the Howard Volunteer Fire Co., where he later became an EMT and helped as bingo chairman. He was also a former member of the Howard Lions Club.

Mr. Foust was a former member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Howard, where he regularly sat in the front row.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Bradd E. Foust of Howard; a paternal grandmother, Bernice Troxell of White Deer; his aunt and uncle, Jerry and Sherry Folk of Watsontown; and six cousins.

In addition to his  Father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Foust; paternal stepgrandfather, Paul Troxell; and his maternal grandmother, Frances Koser.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Pastor Wayne A. Shamer of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, White Deer, officiating. Burial will follow in Watsontown cemetery.

The family respectfully declines food donations.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Howard Volunteer Fire Co., 14 Walnut St., P.O. Box 276, Howard, Pa. 16841.

Oris W. Munson

HENDERSON, Nev. — Oris W. Munson, 68, of Henderson, Nev., since 1958, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in the St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Rose de Lina Campus.

Mr. Munson was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Milton.

His wife, Debra Lee Munson of Henderson, survives.

Mr. Munson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a retired brakeman for the railroad.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two  daughters, Patti Morley and Peggy Munson, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons, Oris Munson Jr. of Henderson, Kenneth Walizer of Las Vegas and Gerald Walzier Jr. of Las Vegas; two sisters, Florence M. Walter and Betty Lou Hillsey, both of Milton; a brother, Richard E. Munson of Milton; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the care of Palm Mortuary-Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Lela E. Rearick

LEWISBURG — Lela E. Rearick, 99, a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg, since 1990, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008.

Born Dec. 27, 1908, in Tylersville, Sugar Valley, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Shreckengast) Weaver. She was raised in Rebersburg.

She and her husband of 65 years, Paul Rearick, were married Sept. 2, 1928, with the Rev. I. K. Baker in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Rebersburg, officiating. Mr. Rearick died Jan. 31, 1993.

The Rearicks lived on a farm west of Rebersburg from 1930 until 1990, when they moved to RiverWoods.

Mrs. Rearick was a former church organist and choir member for her church, the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Rebersburg.

She continued playing the piano and organ for the residents of RiverWoods until her death. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing and was a loyal Phillies baseball fan.

Surviving are two nieces, Lois McClelland and Joan Probst, both of the Williamsport area, and several great-nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Bryan; and two half brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Riverview Manor Creative Arts Room, Lewisburg, with her minister, the Rev. Julie Piper, officiating. Interment will be in the Evangelical cemetery of Rebersburg at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Rebersburg, Pa. 16872.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
