Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

David E. Ebersole

CLEARFIELD -- David E. Ebersole, 33, of 109 N. Fourth St., died at 10:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He had been ill for several months and hospitalized for the last three days.

Before moving to Clearfield 18 months ago, he had lived in Williamsport.

He was born Sept. 27, 1968, in Williamsport, a son of David H. and Mary Jane (Eshleman) Ebersole of Millmont RR2.

Mr. Ebersole was a 1996 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School and received an associate degree in mechanical engineering from Penn College, Williamsport. He also held a commercial driver's license.

He was employed as a mold designer at Framtome Connectors Inc., Clearfield. Earlier, he was a mold designer at West Co., Montgomery/Williamsport plants, and also at Shop Vac Corp., Williamsport.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Diane M. and Jason Gearhart of Millmont RR1; one brother and sister-in-law, Daryl J. and Vonda Ebersole of Elizabethtown; one niece, Jasey Gearhart; one nephew, Cristofer Gearhart; and his maternal grandmother, Mary A. Eshleman of Palmyra.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Lewisburg Alliance Church, off Route 15 south, Supplee Mill Road, Lewisburg. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Steven E. VanAmburg, his pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Mazeppa Union cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jesus Ministries Inc., RR1, Box 58B, Shirleysburg, PA 17260; or the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are under the care of the Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.

Ray Franklin Vonada Sr.

MIFFLINBURG -- Ray Franklin Vonada Sr., 59, of 75 Walnut St., died at 7:49 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in the emergency room at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was a resident of Mifflinburg for the past 37 years.

Mr. Vonada was born June 21, 1942, in Aaronsburg, a son of the late Bruce Randal and Sarah Jane (Corman) Vonada.

He and his wife, the former Sandra L. Deitrick, were married On May 30, 1964, in First Baptist Church, Milton.

Mr. Vonada attended Penns Valley schools.

He was employed by Yorketown, Mifflinburg, for the past 34 years and was formerly employed at Huntington Throwing Mills, Mifflinburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Ray F. Vonada Jr. of Mifflinburg, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Seymore and Ethel Vonada of Lemont and Lester and Dawn Vonada of Woodward; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley Wittmer of Madisonburg, Helen and Truman Matters of Mifflinburg RR3, Mabel Shively of Millmont RR2, Betty and Harold Reber of Mifflinburg RR4 and Linda Luse of Aaronsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Stewart, Dean and Donald; and one sister, Gladys Boone.

Visitors may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in Roupp Funeral Home, East Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Pastor Fred Yarger of Millmont United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Woodward cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Association, P.O. Box 8, Mifflinburg, Pa. 17844.

Madeline N. Gearhart

LEWISBURG -- Madeline N. Gearhart, 85, a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg, and formerly of Milton RR1, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.

James F. Sheatler

WATSONTOWN -- James F. Sheatler, 78, of 102 Maple St., Watsontown, died at 4:45 this morning, Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, in his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.

Frances Wolfe Frederick

MILTON -- Frances Wolfe Frederick, 94, a resident of Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, and formerly of Milton RR1, died Thursday morning, Jan. 9, 2003, in the nursing home.

Born Jan. 31, 1908, in Milton, Mrs. Frederick was a daughter of the late Frank B. and Edna Frances (Hottenstein) Wolfe.

She graduated from Milton High School in 1925 and was employed as a secretary at Milton Steel and Supply Co.

Mrs. Frederick was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Milton, where she played the piano for many years for Sunday school.

She was a member of Rambler's Club, Milton Woman's Club and Homemaker's Club of Milton.

She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, reading and traveling.

The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlton G. Rinehart; her second husband, Louis I. Frederick; two sisters; and five brothers.

Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Wolfe of Watsontown and Mrs. Marguerite Wolfe of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a brother-in-law, John Heim of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul W. Cope and interment will be in Lewisburg cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Fund of St. John's United Church of Christ, 18 Arch St., Milton, Pa. 17847.

Annie Alberta Geiswite

MILLMONT -- Annie Alberta Geiswite, 75, of Route 45, Millmont, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in the emergency room of Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She lived in Millmont since April 1988, and before that was a resident of Selinsgrove and Danville.

She was born June 17, 1927, in Union Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Lewis Franklin and Mary Alice Walters Geiswite.

She is survived by three brothers and a sister, Lester Geiswite of Winfield, Ray Geiswite of Winfield, Robert Geiswite of Mifflinburg and Mary G. Snyder of Selinsgrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Wesley Franklin Geiswite in 1977, Earl Beneval Geiswite in 1987, Norman David Geiswite in 1996, Charles Edward Geiswite in 1998 and Fred William Geiswite in 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg. The Rev. Myron C. Campbell, pastor of Christ White Springs Church, Mifflinburg, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Winfield cemetery.

Visitors will be received by the family before the services Monday in the funeral home.

Donald B. Rein

LEWISBURG -- Donald B. Rein, 75, of JPM Road, Lewisburg, died Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2003, in the emergency room of Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born Aug. 9, 1927, in Milton, he was the son of the late Bright B. and Miriam (Catherman) Rein.

He and his wife of 52 years, the former Esther Grove, were married Jan. 28, 1951.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Rein served with the U.S. Navy in the American and Pacific theaters.

Prior to enlisting in the Navy, he attended Milton High School.

Mr. Rein worked at American Home Foods, now ConAgra, Milton, before retiring in 1989. Prior to that, he spent 22 years working at Groves' Mill. He also worked at Kelly's Texaco, West Milton.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.

Mr. Rein also was a member of Cove Road Hunting Club, Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post 182 in Lewisburg, NRA and United Food and Commercial Workers Union 38.

He enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Darlene M. Rowe and her husband, Robert, of Lewisburg, John H. Rein and his wife, Brenda, of East Lyme, Conn., and Denise R. Bollinger and her husband, Robert, of Columbia; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Rowe, Jenna Rowe and Jennifer Rein; four step-grandchildren, Bill Rowe, Steve Rowe, Brian Rowe and Krystale Arbour; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsi, Elaine and Hunter Rowe and Brandon Trate; two sisters, Betty June Swanger and her husband, Bruce, of Goosecreek, S.C., and Gail Marie Walston and her husband, Joseph, of Laughlin, Nev.; and two brothers, Richard L. Rein and his wife, Sue, of Mechanicsburg, and Dave E. Rein and his wife, Trish, of Hanahan, S.C.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Feryl Sledge.

Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's United Church of Christ, Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Paula M. Gustafson, officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by Lewisburg area veterans, will be in Lewisburg cemetery.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association of Central Pennsylvania, 264 Market St., Sunbury, Pa. 17801 or the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave. Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Walter Allen Long, Former newspaper carrier

MONTANDON -- Walter Allen Long, 69, of 46 Montandon Park died at 3:29 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in his home following a brief illness.

He had lived in Northumberland County since 1976, and prior to that he lived in Mifflinburg RR4 for many years.

Born July 1, 1932, in Mahoning Township, Montour County, he was the son of the late Ira Ambrose and Verna Mook Long.

He married the former Sylvia Jean Loss Dec. 2, 1971, in Mifflinburg with District Magistrate William D. Yohn officiating.

For the past 13 years, he had worked as a carrier for the Sunbury Daily Item. Prior to that, he served as an escort for Ritz-Craft Inc. of Mifflinburg and was employed by Huntington Throwing Mills, Mifflinburg.

He was a member of AARP and enjoyed spending time with his family and working on the computer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two  daughters and a son-in-law, Debra J. and Daniel S. Aikey of York and Wendy A. Long of Milton RR1; four grandchildren, Brian S. Aikey, Brandon M. Aikey, Dylan J. Fitzpatrick and Gage M. Fitzpatrick; his  Father-in-law, Ammon J. Loss of Turbotville; and three brothers, Freeman Long and Carlton Long, both of Milton, and Ira S. Long of Lewisburg RR2.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; and one sister, Ethel Ellen Grove, who died Nov. 7, 1990.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, with the Rev. Dr. Gary A. Hackenberg, interim pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, officiating. Burial will be in Montandon cemetery.

Visitors will be received from 10 a.m. to the time of the service Monday in the funeral home.

Marian Isophene Specht, Former Milton teacher

WEST MILTON -- Marian Isophene Specht, 88, of Old Route 15, West Milton, died Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2001, in her home.

Born Jan. 23, 1913, in McClure, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Myrtie (Wagner) Krick.

Her husband, Eric W. Specht, died in 1993.

Mrs. Specht graduated from McClure High School and later graduated from Juniata College in 1935.

She was a home economics teacher at the Milton junior and senior high schools. She retired in 1975 after 30 years of employment.

Mrs. McClure was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Milton, were she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.

She enjoyed reading and was an avid Penn State fan.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth I. and William Tilburg of Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric D. and Mary Specht of Painted Post, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Gregory Tilburg, Melissa Tilburg, Angela Tilburg, Brian Tilburg, Alan Specht, Jane Ames and Jill Specht; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Karl Krick of McClure and Donald Krick of Dauphin; and two sisters, Ruth Mattern of Lewistown and Gladys Bowersox of McClure.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Krick; and a sister, Phyllis Eichelberger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Milton, with the Revs. Dwaine E. Krebs and Ronald E. Landis. Burial will be in Milton cemetery.

Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.

Warren R. Greis, Veteran

MILTON -- Warren R. Greis, 79, a resident of Kramm Healthcare Center, formerly of Mahoning Street, Milton, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in the nursing home.

Mr. Greis was born May 31, 1922, in Philadelphia, the son of Harry and Jennie (Brion) Greis.

His wife, the former Hazel M. Tattersley, died Jan. 14, 1990.

He had been a laborer for the Borough of Milton for a number of years.

Mr. Greis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Post 71, VFW Post 1665, all of Milton, and the former Friendship Fire Company.

He had served his country from 1942-1948, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 and the U.S. Army from 1945-1948.

He is survived by a son, Warren Greis Jr. of Sunbury; five  daughters, Carol Berardi of Bricktown, N.J., Hazel Accardo of Cape May, N.J., Emily Peterson of Philadelphia, Marie Linn of Milton and Laura Bush of Mifflinburg; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle Griffith of Philadelphia.

Mr. Greis was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; and a brother, Jack Greis.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph cemetery, Milton, with the Rev. Thomas Scala officiating.

Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service Inc., 125 N. Front St., Milton, is in charge of arrangements.
