JOHN CHADWICK
John O. Chadwick, 65, of Upper St. Clair, died May 9, 2008, at home surrounded by family. He was husband of Elizabeth (Budenz) Chadwick, Father of David and his wife, Whitney, Michael and his wife, Breigh, and Andrew and his wife, Gillian. In addition, John is survived by his mother Lydia (Grisi) Chadwick; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his Father Jack B. in 2005, and his brother Conrad in 2003.
John was born in Columbus, GA and raised in Alexandria, VA.
He was employed as a Special Agent in the FBI from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. After retiring he was active in the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Former Agents of the FBI, and the Upper St. Clair Bocce League. John also enjoyed playing golf with his sons.
Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road , Pleasant Hills, Tuesday, May 13 from 3 to 7PM, with a brief memorial service at 7PM. There will also be a service held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1802 Skippack Pike (Rt. 73), Center Square, Thursday, May 15, visitation from 3 to 5PM, followed by a memorial service. EDNA KRIEBEL
Edna C. Kriebel, 74 of Catasauqua, died Sunday, May 11 th, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown. She was the wife of Leroy E. Kriebel, of Catasauqua, for 52 ˝ years.
Born in Blair Township, she was the daughter of the late James Regis and M. Helen (Ringler )Zeth.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation BVM in Catasauqua and its Altar and Rosary Society, and Craft Club.
Edna and her husband had the store franchises for the Ben Franklin Stores in Catasauqua, Allentown and Slatington until their closures.
She loved watching the Philadelphia Eagles, going to the casino and her pet dog “Roughiee”.
Surviving with her husband are brother Melvin of Altoona, David and his wife, Jean, Tom and his wife, Judy, and Dennis all of Catasauqua; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, John and James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Thursday, May 15, at St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation BVM, 122 Union Street, Catasauqua. Call 7PM until 8:30PM Wednesday at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua and 9 to 10AM at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3893 Alder Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
JAMES JORDAN
James W. Jordan, 76, of Lansdale died May 11, 2008 at Central Montgomery Medical Center. He had been in failing health for one year. His wife, Carol Archer Jordan, died Jan. 16, 1994.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Bill and Mazie Binder Jordan. He has been a lifelong resident of the North Penn area.
Mr. Jordan served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He had worked as a forklift operator at Leeds and Northrup in North Wales for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He had belonged to the local union at Leeds & Northrup.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lansdale.
Surviving are two daughters Stephanie L. Jordan and her partner, Jennifer Millney, of Lansdale and Nancy L. Anderson and her husband, Timothy, of Gunter, TX.; four grandchildren James, Mariya and Katie Burns and A. J. Anderson; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Lloyd Jordan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service Thursday, May 15 at 11AM at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale where the family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11AM. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Roslyn. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Jordan’s name to the American Cancer Society, 700 Horizon Circle, Suite 201, Chalfont, PA. 18914 would be preferred.
ABRAM ROSENBERGER
Abram G. Rosenberger, 89, of Souderton, formerly of Lansdale, went home to be with his Lord Friday, May 9, 2008 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. He was the beloved husband for 63 years to Kathryn (High) Rosenberger.
Born in Hilltown Twp., to the late Henry and Lydia (Garges) Rosenberger.
Abram was employed by Clemens Supermarkets in their Lansdale stores during the 1960's and 1970's. During the 1980's and 1990's, he was employed by The Estate of George S. Snyder in Hatfield. Abram also assisted his son, Don, at Rosenberger's Dry Cleaners in Spring House.
He was a lifetime member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church.
In addition to his spouse, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Moyer and her husband, Steven, of Harleysville; a sister, Anna Detweiler and her husband, Alvin, of Plumsteadville; a brother Earl Rosenberger and his wife, Doris, of Harrisonburg, VA; a sister-in-law, Carrie Wenger of Souderton; daughter-in-law, Helen Rosenberger of St. Michaels, MD; three grandson, Theodore Rosenberger of Telford, Jonathan Moyer of Harleysville, and Aaron Moyer and his wife, Danielle, of Nashville, TN; and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Dalton Rosenberger.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Rosenberger and a sister Ethel Wenger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 15, at 3PM at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, where friends may meet with the family from 1:30 - 3PM. Burial will take place at Blooming Glen Mennonite cemetery. BARBARA NEWTON
Barbara Joan Newton, 76, died May 11, 2008 in Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Warminster Twp. She was the wife of the late Harvey A. Newton, who died in 1989. She lived at Schwenckfeld Manor, Towamencin Twp., before entering the nursing home and was formerly of the Village of Neshaminy Falls.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. and Elizabeth M. (Lightcap) Finerfrock and graduated from Germantown High School in 1949.
Mrs. Newton had worked in data entry for International Computerprint Corp. in Fort Washington for about 10 years.
She had been a member of Sanctuary United Methodist Church, North Wales and a life member of the Volunteer Medical Service Corps Auxiliary, Lansdale.
She is survived by a sister, Jean Buonopane and her husband, William, of Blackwood, NJ and other relatives.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jay H. Newton, who died in 2003.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Wednesday, May 14, at 11:15 AM in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale, where friends may call after 10 AM. ALFRED SCIACCA
Alfred Francis Sciacca, 91, entered into rest on May 10, 2008, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian (Karow) Sciacca. He was a long-time resident of Towamencin Township.
Alfio (his given name) was born in 1917 in Montgomery Township, the first son of Rosario and Anna (Grasso) Sciacca. He is survived by brothers Joseph and his wife, Caroline, of Schwenksville, Harry of Hatfield and Anna O’Neill of Lansdale. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Al served his country with honor and pride during World War II.
He was part of Squadron A, 324th Bombardment Group, U.S. Army Air Force, stationed in Bassingbourn, England from 1943 to 1945. Corporal Sciacca was a munitions worker and bomb loader on a B-17 Flying Fortress.
His decorations included the Good Conduct Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with one bronze star and one silver star. His unit’s wartime campaigns included the Normandy invasion, the Ardennes offensive and the Air War over Europe.
Before and after the war he worked for Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown and its Hallowell division in Hatfield for more than 40 years.
Al enjoyed making pinwheels out of aluminum cans, making his grapevine wreaths, tending his garden, visiting with family and taking long drives in the country.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, May 16, from 7 -8PM at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale. There will be a memorial service at the funeral home that evening beginning at 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, PO Box 255, Sumneytown PA 18084-0255.
DOROTHY GRUENBAUM
Dorothy B. Gruenbaum, 89, of North Wales, died May 12, 2008 in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gruenbaum.
Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late E. Homer and Amanda (Dager) Webster.
Mrs. Gruenbaum retired from McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Fort Washington.
Surviving is her daughter, Judith A. Drosdik, with whom she resided at the Village of Neshaminy Falls; three step-children, Christine Rieber, Edward Gruenbaum Jr. and Janet Peretti; and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
A memorial service may be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
ANTHONY BAIR
Anthony J. “Tony” Bair, 20, of Lansdale, passed away unexpectedly October 8, 2007. He was the beloved son of Mary Jo Bair of Lansdale and Brad Lee Bair of Perkasie.
Born in Hatfield Twp., he graduated from Central Bucks High School South, Class of 2006 and was currently a student at Montgomery County Community College.
Tony loved football and was an integral part of the inaugural football team at CB South under Coach Bart Szarko.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, John J. Bair and a sister, Holly Jo Bair, both of Lansdale; paternal grandparents, John C. and Leila Bair of Pleasantville, NJ; maternal grandfather, James W. Hansley of Blue Bell; maternal grandmother, Katherine L. Hansley of Upper Gwynedd; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday, Oct. 13, between 2 and 3:30 PM in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale and are invited to attend his memorial service at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Tony’s memory to Central Bucks High School South (designated CB Student Activity Fund-Football), 1100 Folly Road, Warrington, PA 18976. To best honor Tony’s memory, his family is suggesting friends wear CB South football jerseys or casual football attire to celebrate and remember his life.
RUTH McGINN
Ruth M. McGinn, 81, a longtime resident of Lansdale, died Oct. 10, 2007 in Pennsburg Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. McGinn, in 1985.
Born in Doylestown, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Luceil (Pruner) Snedeker. Her younger years were spent in the Langhorne area and she graduated from the Langhorne-Middletown High School, Class of 1944.
Mrs. McGinn retired from Bell of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Bell Pioneers and St. Stanislaus Church in Lansdale.
She is survived by a son, Thomas G. McGinn and his wife, Karen, of Telford; a daughter, Catherine M. Panzeter and her significant other, Jim Hunter, of Schwenksville; three grandchildren, Kelly, Billy and Megan; one brother, Louis Snedeker of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister, Emma Jane Snedeker of Pennsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Snedeker and a sister, Dorothy McCauley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Monday, Oct. 15 at 10 AM in St. Stanislaus Church, Lansdale. The family will receive friends at church prior to Mass from 9 to 10 AM. Interment will be in the St. John Neumann cemetery. JOSEPHINE LEWIS
Josephine Elaine (Betz) Lewis, 76, a long time resident of Lansdale, died October 8, 2007 in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Geyer Lewis in 1989.
Born in Plymouth Valley, she was a daughter of the late Berthold and Elizabeth (Stutzle) Betz.
Mrs. Lewis currently enjoyed working with the children at the Lansdale YMCA.
Surviving is a daughter, Jacqueline Lewis of Harleysville; a sister, Violet Law of Norristown; and a brother, John Betz of Collegeville.
