DONALD S. WOODWARD
Donald S. Woodward, 76, of Ligonier, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born March 6, 1924, in Indiana, Pa., he was a son of the late Clyde C. and Vera Stone Woodward. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he had been employed by Kennametal in Latrobe for over 32 years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Ligonier, member and Past Master of Ligonier Lodge #331 F&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, New Alexandria, the Valley of Pittsburgh Consistory, and the Ligonier Township Sportsmen's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia K. Helmick Woodward, in 1995; a sister, Carol May Bell; and a brother, Frederick A. Woodward. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James S. (Susie) Spangler of Warren, Pa.; three sons , Lewis C. (and wife, Margaret) Woodward of Ligonier RD2, Donald G. Woodward of Greensburg and James A. Woodward of Waterford; three grandchildren, Brandie Stewart, Amy and Brian Neiport; a sister, Mary Louise Sokol of Kittanning; a brother, John C. Woodward of Torrance, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert D. Cummings officiating. Interment in Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier. Memorial gifts may be made to Ligonier Valley Meals on Wheels. Ligonier Lodge #331 F&AM will hold services in the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m.
C. WARREN BARNHART
C. Warren "Jerry" Barnhart, 79, of Stahlstown RD1, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier. He was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Donegal Township, a son of the late Jerry S. and Ellan Kalb Barnhart. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Stahlstown. Jerry was retired from Latrobe Steel Co., and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Donegal American Legion and the Ligonier VFW Post #734. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Estella Linkletter. He is survived by a son, Barry Barnhart and his wife, Gail; a daughter, Pat Queer; two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Barnhart, all of Ligonier; a brother, Herbert Barnhart and his wife, Mary Lou; and a sister, Della Hauger, all of Stahlstown. The family will receive friends at the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Church Street, Donegal, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Audrey J. Bell officiating. JESS WILLIAM CALLAHAN
Jess William Callahan, 19, of Connellsville (Bullskin Township), died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in UPMC, Pittsburgh, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born Aug. 15, 1980, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Kip and Trudie Murray Callahan of Connellsville (Bullskin Township). Jess was a graduate of the Connellsville Area High School with the class of 1999, and had just finished his freshman year at Slippery Rock State University. While in high school, he was a four-year member of the Falcon baseball team and was a member of the SADD Club. He also worked in the summer at DeMarco's Nursery. Jess also enjoyed skiing and had worked part-time at Seven Springs Mountain Resort during the ski season. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jared Callahan at home; his maternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Jess and Wanda Murray of Connellsville; his paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Dolores Callahan Jones and Jack Jones of Connellsville; his longtime girlfriend, Leah Vilella of Connellsville; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Betty M. Duke Murray; and his paternal grandfather, William P. Callahan. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry R. Hellein officiating. LESTER E. CLEM
Lester E. Clem, 48, of West Newton, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Layton, the son of the late Lester and Wilma Cooper Everly Clem. He had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co., and was currently employed by the West Newton Moose Lodge #31. He graduated from Yough School District, Sewickley High School in 1970, and was a member of the L.O.O.M. #31 and the VFW #7812, both in West Newton. He is survived by two children, Heather Lynn and Ryan Scott, both of Irwin; a grandson, Devin Andrew of Irwin; three half brothers , Don Everly of Perryopolis, and Raymond and Rich Everly of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and three half sisters , Joan Celapino of West Newton, Eileen Weaver of Belle Vernon and Joyce Craig of Lorain, Ohio. Antonio Fedelle DeLuca, 74, of Pitcairn, on Saturday, June 10, 2000. Husband of the late Giovanna (Mancuso) DeLuca; Father of Benedetto "Benny" DeLuca of Monroeville; brother of Rosario Mary Rosso of Virginia; grandfather of Anthony Joseph DeLuca and Angela Giovanna DeLuca. BERDIE WELTZ HIMLER FELDMAN
Berdie Weltz Himler Feldman, 82, of Greensburg, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in Christ the King Manor, DuBois. She was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Sell and Jessie Ross Weltz. She was a retired Pentecostal minister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Himler, and her second husband, Frederick Feldman; a brother, Sell Weltz Jr.; and a sister, Gladys Weltz Guidas. She is survived by her sister, Dona Weltz Ohler of New Stanton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park. ALBINO FERRARI
Albino Ferrari, of West Newton, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Huntingdon Ridge Personal Care Home. He was 88 years old. Mr. Ferrari was born in Blythedale, Pa., May 26, 1912, the youngest of seven children. His parents, Vincent and Linda Ferrari, immigrated to the United States in 1897, and married shortly thereafter. In his younger years, Albino worked in the local coal mines but found work later as a track maintenance employee for the B&O Railroad where he worked until retirement in 1975. Mr. Ferrari served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1947, he married Josephine Cacciamani of Charleroi. They lived in Blythedale for a short time moving then to Elizabeth Township, and in 1959 to their current home in West Newton. In addition to his work with the railroad, Mr. Ferrari or "Beno" as his friends called him, worked on weekends for Crown Metal Products Co., a manufacturer of steam- driven amusement park trains. Beno was known to many as the jovial engineer on these trains first at the farm in Elizabeth Township where they were built and at the Allegheny County Fair each year near Pittsburgh, and later on at Idlewild Park in Ligonier. Mr. Ferrari was preceded in death by his sisters , Zaira, Oriele, and Angelina; by his brothers , George, Aldo, and Merrico; and a son-in-law, John Rector. Mr. Ferrari is survived by his wife of 52 years, Josephine; three children, Carol Palmieri of Irwin, Vincent Ferrari of Bowie, Md., and Janice Rector of Allentown; and five grandchildren, Antoinette and Jackie Palmieri, Christina Ferrari, and Philip and Nathan Rector. Friends will be received at the RICHARD F. DODSON FUNERAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday, June 14, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Regoli officiating. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.
ELIZABETH (DODDS) KRACHT
Elizabeth (Dodds) Kracht, 93, formerly of Ford City, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in the Homestead Private Care Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Harper Kracht. She was a member of the Ford Memorial United Methodist Church, Ford City. She was a teacher at the former Shay School, Kittanning Township, and a part-time teacher at McKees Rocks Schools. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kittanning American Legion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Kracht, on Aug. 24, 1986; five brothers , William, John, Joseph, Arthur and Hilton; and three sisters , Jean Hilton, Dorothy Masters and Bertha Cawley. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Scalpello of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Linda Woolbaugh and Jim and Melanie Scalpello; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WELCH FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William T. McClure, 85, of Churchill, on Sunday, June 11, 2000. Mr. McClure was the former V.P. and treasurer of McClure-Johnston Co. Frances C. Miller, 81, of Connellsville, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2000, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born April 2, 1919, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Bruno and Felicia Roberts Cupiraggi. She was a member of St. Rita Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers Society. Sharing her love and closeness with her family and friends was important and ever constant throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and preparing some of her favorite recipes for her family. She is survived by a son, Harry Curtis Miller Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Pittsburgh; two daughters , Barbara L. Haggerty and her husband, Ronald J., of Connellsville, with whom she resided, and Beverly A. Harbaugh and her husband, Donald Merle, of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Ronald J. Haggerty Jr. and his wife, Jody, of Connellsville, Jennifer Haggerty of Connellsville, Chris Harbaugh of Mt. Pleasant, Julie Kirchner of Mt. Pleasant, Stephanie Harbaugh of Greenville, S.C., Lauren Arrowood of Greer, S.C., Kimberly S. McLoughlin of Pittsburgh and Curtis Geoffrey Miller of Pittsburgh; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry C. Miller Sr., in 1985; and a sister, Lena Konetsco. Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. THOMAS PATRICK MORGAN
Thomas Patrick Morgan, 76, of Dreliszak Road, East Huntingdon Township, Scottdale, died early Sunday morning, June 11, 2000, at Integrated Health Services of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born in Scottdale, a son of the late Thomas A. and Anna M. Miller, on July 17, 1923. Tom was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Scottdale. He was a retired electrical welder for Scottdale Machine Foundry and Construction Co. with 40 years service. Tom was a veteran of the Armed Forces serving with the U.S. Army during World War II as a combat soldier with the 351st Infantry Regiment in Italy. He was engaged in battle in Po Valley and Northern Apennine Mountains. He was the recipient of the European Theatre of Operations medal with two battle stars and the World War II victory medal. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post of Scottdale and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 595, Everson. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Valencia. He is survived by his brothers and sisters , John E. Morgan of Somerset, Anna Hyder of Arizona, Robert A. Morgan and his wife, Marjorie (DeLuca), of Scottdale RD, Paul E. Morgan of Connellsville, F. Owen Morgan of Scottdale RD2, Mary T. Katona of McKeesport, Dennis A. Morgan and his wife, Dorothy (Sidlovsky), of Lorain, Ohio, and Betty R. Maglicco of McKeesport; and a number of nieces and nephews. Tom's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. LEO V. PAWLIK
Leo V. Pawlik, 83, of Jeannette, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Hempfield Manor. He was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Jeannette, a son of the late Victor and Julia Wantuch Pawlik. Prior to retirement, he was employed by General Tire Co., Jeannette. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, the United Rubber Workers Union, and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Lukasik Pawlik; two sisters , Sophie Pawlik and Josephine Page; and a brother, Edward Pawlik. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Pawlik of Medina, Ohio; a son, Robert Pawlik of Jeannette; a brother, John Pawlik of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank R. Perman, 66, of Shaler Township, on Sunday, June 11, 2000. Mr. Perman was the owner of the Frank R. Perman Funeral Home Inc. in Shaler Township. He was the beloved husband of Judith Trench Perman; Father of Frank R. Perman and the late Anne Louise Perman; son of the late Ludwig and Jennie Perman; brother of Jennie Biggs and Kathleen Perman and the late Joseph and Ludwig Perman. Friends received at the FRANK R.
