JANET BETTI LADENSON
Janet Betti Ladenson, 65, of Lansdale, died Monday, October 29, 2001, at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown.
She was a Lansdale resident for 22 years.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Paul J. and Lillian (Vinokur) Ladenson. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College, Class of 1987, with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
She was employed as a computer programmer for 15 years with Unisys Corp. in Blue Bell. She was currently employed by Walmart Corp. in Hilltown.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed painting, sculpting, cross country skiing and hiking. She was devoted to her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be sadly missed as a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Susan R. Gill and her husband, Christopher, of Jamison and Dr. Brett L. Moses and his wife, Lisa, of Yardley; a brother, Jack Ladenson of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Eileen Seidman of Atlanta, GA; and her six grandchildren, Ashlyn, Nick, Ian, Kevin, Katie and Peter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday, Nov. 1, at 3 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road) Richboro. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
DAVID W. LILL
David W. Lill, 72, of Chalfont, formerly of Philadelphia, died Oct. 29, 2001.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy G. (Schmidt) Lill.
He was a graduate of Frankford High School, where he was an all-public, all-city and all- state football tackle and a varsity letterman in basketball and track. He attended Temple University on a football scholarship from 1949 to 1953, where he earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in administration and minored in art. He also belonged to the ROTC. He received his doctoral equivalent from Penn State University and Glassboro State University.
Mr. Lill taught and coached for the Philadelphia School District for 18 years, in Upper Moreland for one year and for the Central Bucks School District for 21 years. He was named Football Coach of the Year for Philadelphia and the suburbs, in 1964. He established the Varsity Club of Overbrook High School in 1970. In addition, he was employed by the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, the Chalfont Police Department and Blue Cross.
He was an active member of Holy Trinity Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and youth sponsor and with outreach and the usher's association for more than 40 years.
He was a former, active member of the Brittany Farms Civic Association, Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, and Jump Rope for Heart Association of Bucks County. He also took part in the Bike-a-thon for Multiple Sclerosis.
As an amateur artist, he was the recipient of several awards in the Bucks and Montgomery county areas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, David H., Michael D., Donna Hinds and Diane Schultz; one brother, Joseph; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris and Constance Taylor; a brother-in-law, Robert Taylor; and his aunt and uncle, David and Ritz Zell.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie McKinley.
Relatives, friends and members of all organizations of which he was a member are invited to attend his funeral, Friday, at 9:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 407 N. Broad St., Lansdale. A service of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Interment , Hatboro cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. at the John F. Fluehr & sons Inc. ROBERT E. LOVELESS
Robert Edgar Loveless, 70, of Smithers, WV, formerly of Telford, died October 30, 2001 at his home.
He was the husband of Ruth (Lavender) Loveless.
Born Nov. 19, 1930 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, he was a son of the late E. Lloyd and Gladys (Richardson) Loveless. He attended Houghton College in Houghton, NY and Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, and was a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Walaston, MA.
A mechanical engineer, Mr. Loveless retired from Electra Products in Telford.
He was a member of Boomer Baptist Church in Boomer, WV and a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert M. Loveless of Souderton, Warren E. Loveless and his wife, Charolett, of Perkasie and John Loveless and his wife, Nancy, of Dublin; two sisters, Beth Bass and her husband, Hank, of Greensboro, NC and Barbara Olsen and her husband, Ralph, of Walnut Creek, CA; a brother, Brad Loveless and his wife, Addie, of Southampton; three stepchildren, Carl D. Anderson and his wife, Terry, of Perkasie, Bonnie Anderson of Eddington, ME and Penny Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Carmel, ME; 19 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at Boomer Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Lewis Coe officiating. Entombment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, WV. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 PM at the O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, WV. BRIAN K. MARTIN
Brian K. Martin, 37, of Hilltown Twp., died Oct. 28, 2001, in his home.
He had lived most of his life in Hatfield Twp.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of William E. and Esther (Derstein) Martin of Hatfield Twp. Brian graduated from North Penn High School in 1982 and was formerly employed at Merck & Co., as an animal caretaker.
He attended First Baptist Church in Lansdale.
He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, William E. Martin III of Hatfield; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

KAREN A. MINDER
Karen A. (McDevitt) Minder, 41, died Oct. 27, 2001 at her home in Towamencin.
ELLEN BRYAN
Ellen Bryan, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Cedars.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve B. Bryan, in 1980. In 1958, she and her late husband came to the United States and lived in Philadelphia. Following retirement, they moved to Washougal, WA. In 1996, Mrs. Bryan returned to the east coast to live with her family.
Born in Northampton, England, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (Cousins) Sparrow.
She was employed by the VIZ Corporation in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, retiring in 1975, after 17 years of service.
Mrs. Bryan was a member of St. Philip's Orthodox Church in Souderton.
She was a former member of the daughters of the British Empire, Richmond Chapter in Vancouver, WA.
Surviving are two daughters, Maureen Kaminsky and her husband, George, with whom she lived in Cedars and Barbara O'Brien and her husband, Quinn, of Washougal; 10 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Freda Lloyd of Wales, U.K.
A funeral service for relatives and friends will be Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Philip's Orthodox Church, 1970 Clearview Road, Souderton, where friends may call after 9:30 A.M. Entombment, Lansdale cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Philip's Orthodox Church and sent to Box 64565, Souderton, PA 18964. JOSEPH J. KOHLER SR.
Joseph J. Kohler Sr., 75, of Skippack, formerly of Center Square and the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, died Nov. 1, 2001 at North Penn Hospital. He was the husband of Marguerite (Keenan) Kohler.
Mr. Kohler was born June 14, 1926. He graduated from Holy Family Elementary School and Saint Joseph's Preparatory School. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served for three years during World War II. He was an electrician's mate first class and served in Panama.
He was a plumber's apprentice from 1946 to 1950. He was the owner of Joseph J. Kohler Inc., which did plumbing and heating for schools and other commercial clients. The business was located in Philadelphia and later in Colmar.
Mr. Kohler was a former supporter of Saint Helena's Church in Center Square.
He was a member of the Lions Club and a charter member of LaSalle High School's Touchdown Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sons, Joseph J. Kohler Jr. of Norristown, Walter J. Kohler and Michael P. Kohler, both of Lansdale, Thomas J. Kohler of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, John W. Kohler of Harleysville and James P. Kohler of Hatfield; 20 grandchildren; and four sisters, Margaret McQuaid and Katherine Donoway, both of Yardley, and Anne Chicchi and Joan Erthal, both of Philadelphia.
The viewing will be Tuesday at 9 A.M. at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery in West Conshohocken. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Kohler's memory to Camilla Hall P.O. Box 100, Immaculata, PA 19345. Arrangements are by the Koller Funeral Home in Philadelphia.
FLORA A. SCHATZ
Flora A. Schatz, 80, of Souderton, died Friday, November 2, 2001, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill, where she had been a medical patient for several months.
She had been in failing health for several years. She was the wife of 51 years of the late Kenneth N. Schatz, who died in October, 1993.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (Shepherd) Volk. She had resided in Souderton for more than 60 years.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Mrs. Schatz was a member of the Reliance Chapter of the Eastern Star, National Rifle Association and American Legion Warren Royer Post No. 234 in Souderton. She was a life member of the Souderton-Harleysville Game, Fish and Forestry Association.
She is survived by a son, Chris K. Schatz of Souderton; two daughters, Carla Ann Taylor and her husband, Robert D., of Perkasie and Conie Louise Schuler and her husband, Kenneth W., of Souderton; three grandchildren, Doug Taylor, Deven Thomas and Jessica Schuler; three greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Edie Tomson and her husband, Robert, of Souderton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Volk.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 11 AM in the David R. Sadler Funeral Home, 33 N. Main St., Telford. Interment , Sellersville cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choosing.
MARIE C. HOUGHTON
Marie C. Houghton, 53, of Harleysville, died Tuesday night, October 30, 2001, at her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She was an inspiration to all who knew her in her determination to fight this disease. She was the wife of 31 years of Richard D. Houghton. Formerly of East Norriton, she lived in Harleysville for the past 30 years.
Born in Norristown, she was a daughter of Marie C. (Tabin) Catania of Lansdale and the late Charles B. Catania. She graduated from Norristown High School in 1966 and Montgomery County Community College with an associate's degree in business administration.
Mrs. Houghton was an executive assistant at Merck & Co. for 12 years. She previously was employed by Unisys in Blue Bell, North Penn United Way and Leeds & Northrup in North Wales.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Corpus Christi Prayer Group in Upper Gwynedd.
She was a member of the Greater Federation of Women's Clubs in the North Penn area and was a founding member of The Wellness Place in Lansdale, where she served on the advisory board and as the publicity manager.
Marie was an avid homemaker and devoted mother and wife. Her interests included family activities, cooking, walking, and volunteer work. She was known for her soft spoken ways and kindness to others.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Julie Kline and her husband, Robert, and a son, Stephen Houghton and his wife, Erin, all of Doylestown; and her mother-in-law, Mildred Houghton of Spring House.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Saturday at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446 (in Upper Gwynedd Twp.), where the family will receive friends from 9 to 10:15 AM. HELEN KEEFE
Helen (McKee) Keefe, 77, of Norristown, died Oct. 30, 2001, at her residence. She was the wife of John Keefe.
Born Aug. 12, 1924 in Durham, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lynn C. and Emma (Elder) McKee. She received her bachelor's degree from Ursinus College.
Mrs. Keefe was a school teacher.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Keefe of New York, NY and Robert Keefe of Cinnaminson, NJ; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 2 P.M. at the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home in Norristown, with the funeral service following at 2 P.M. Interment will be at a later date in Union cemetery in Lebanon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Phila., PA 19103, would be appreciated.
