Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

HELEN KATO

Helen Kato, 92, of Murrysville, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on June 4. She was born Aug. 1, 1907, in Hungary, a daughter of the late Bela and Maria Takacs Stolmar. She was a member of the mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville, and the Ladies Guild and Christian Mothers of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kato, in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Lillian Bollibon and her husband, George, of Murrysville; a son, Kenneth Kato and his wife, Kathleen, of Murrysville; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Bollibon, James Bollibon, Loraine Frey, George Bollibon Jr., Ken Kato and Kerry Kato; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville, with Father Joseph Trupkovich as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The Christian Mothers will recite the rosary Sunday at 3 p.m.

MARY DUNYAK McFADDEN

Mary Dunyak McFadden, 88, of East McKeesport, died Friday, June 9, 2000. She was born May 30, 1912, in Donora, a daughter of the late George and Mary Tokach Dunyak. She was a retired nurse, having worked in various area hospitals, and was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. McFadden; and a brother, George Dunyak. She is survived by two sisters , Ann Dunyak of Whiting, Ind., and Margaret Moore of Smithton; two brothers , Mike Dunyak of Donora and John Dunyak of Harrisonburg, Va.; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Donora.

STELLA (BALDIGE) PETROSKI

Stella (Baldige) Petroski, 94, of Delmont, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Beverly Health Care, Monroeville Division. She was born Dec. 13, 1905, in Glenwood, a daughter of the late Stanley and Theofila (Mals) Baldige. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, William Petroski; a son, William Petroski; two daughters , Ester Glasser and Patricia Hah; a daughter-in-law, Betty Petroski; and a grandson, Moose Rutter. She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor L. Veradi and husband, James, of Delmont; two sons , Frank Petroski of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Anthony Petroski and wife, Barbie, of North Braddock; a sister, Eleanor Catterall of Turtle Creek; two sisters -in-law, Madline Baldige of Turtle Creek and Geraldine Baldige of North Huntingdon; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA 15626, (724) 468-1177, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Stella's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church with the Rev. William C. McGuirk as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge of arrangements.

YOLANDA M. PUCHAN

Yolanda M. "Lolly" Puchan, 76, of Venice, Fla., died Wednesday, June 7, 2000. She was born May 9, 1924, in Latrobe, and lived in Greensburg for 27 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Rudy Puchan of Venice; a daughter, Rhonda Will and husband, Bob, of Venice; two sons , Gary Puchan and wife, Debbie, of Orlando, Fla., and Rudy Puchan of Warsaw, Ind.; two sisters , Mae Carota and Anna Jim, both of Latrobe; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Friends were received Friday at the EWING FUNERAL HOME, 140 E. Venice Ave., Venice, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1:15 p.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Venice Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, South Sarasota County Unit, 2100 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite A, Venice, FL 34293, or a favorite charity.

LAVERA M. RINDT

LaVera M. Rindt, 80, of Penn Township, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1919, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Pfeiffer Brown. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a cook for the Penn-Trafford School District. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Rindt in 1997; a son, Gerry J. Rindt; and a brother, Wilbur Brown. She is survived by five sons , Carl F. Rindt of New Alexandria, Raymond P. Rindt of Forest Hills, Warren R. Rindt, Joseph M. Rindt and Robert N. Rindt, all of Claridge; a daughter, Mary M. Blazawich of Penn Township; and 29 grand- and great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township.

ASSUNTA ROMAGNOLI

Assunta "Susie" Romagnoli, 90, of Greensburg, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Italy, a daughter of the late Nicola and Elizabeth Bettina Ditoro Iezzi. She had been a seamstress in her home for many years. She was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, its Rosary Altar Society, a member of the Columbia Ladies Lodge and sons of Columbus, and had been a volunteer at the St. Paul School cafeteria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Romagnoli, on Jan. 10, 1968; by two infant daughters ; a brother, Joseph Iezzi; and a sister, Livia Pallitta. She is survived by her children, Frank and his wife, Lucy Romagnoli, of Greensburg, Gloria and her husband, Leonard DeFabo, of Indiana, Pa., Donald and his wife, Ilse Romagnoli, of Southwest Greensburg, and Betty Jean and her husband, Vaughn Piantine, of Bradenville; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mary and her husband, John Martz, of Jeannette; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Rosary Altar Society will meet at the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m. to pray the rosary.

MARTHA MAE MOSBAUGHER SINNAMOND

Martha Mae Mosbaugher Sinnamond, 84, of Ruffsdale RD2, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Greensburg. Born Feb. 26, 1916, in Shady Plane, a daughter of the late William J. and Nina P. Smail Mosbaugher. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church of Whyles, and was a past church organist and pianist. She was also a Sunday school teacher for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Kenneth Sinnamond; three brothers , Charles E., George H. and Frank H. Mosbaugher; and six sisters , Hazel F. Page, Mary E. Street, Jennie O. Townsend, Emma P. and Clara B. Mosbaugher and Goldie R. Waldenville. Surviving are a son, Robert L. Sinnamond and his wife, Laura, of Greensburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, John B. Mosbaugher of Shady Plane. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Wesley Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Seanors Church Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

CARL E. TODD

Carl E. Todd, of Turtle Creek, accidentally on Thursday, June 8, 2000. Beloved husband of Crystal (Isel) Todd. Dear Father of Joseph Todd. Son of Edward Todd Jr. Brother of Violet Todd. Son-in-law of Erika Koston and William Isel Jr. Brother-in-law of Marc and Bill Isel. JOHN W. TREASURE

John W. "Jack" Treasure, 76, of Bolivar, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at UPMC Lee Regional, Johnstown. He was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Bolivar, a son of the late John H. and Annie G. Wakefield Treasure. He retired as a supervisor in 1988 from PENELEC after 42 years of service. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bolivar, and the Bolivar American Legion, and he was a faithful member of Annie's Coffee Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Dragan. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elva E. Grubbs Treasure; three daughters , Mrs. Richard (Sandra) O'Donnell of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Charles (Susan) Walbeck of Seward and Mrs. Mark (Peggy) Fuller of Ligonier; two sons , Monte and wife, Kathy Treasure, of Pelham, N.H., and Jack and wife, Monica Treasure, of Munster, Ind.; a grandson, Jon Christopher (whom they raised) and wife, Valli Dragan; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Betty) LaMantia of Bolivar RD1; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL, Bolivar. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R. Kenneth Keiper officiating. Interment Fort Palmer Cemetery.

KENNETH W. WHIGHAM

Kenneth W. "Pete" Whigham, 85, formerly of Wilmerding, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000. Son of the late Raymond and Grace (Orgill) Whigham. Husband of the late Maxine R. (Rupert) Whigham. Beloved Father of William R. "Bill" Whigham and his wife, Carol, and Kenneth W. Whigham II. Grandfather of Kenneth W. Whigham III. Brother of Blanche Staubach and the late George Whigham, Evangeline Hickle and Edna Watson Vogler. Also nieces and nephews. Friends received at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until the time of service at noon. Interment in Restland Memorial Park.

WILLIAM JAMES ZELKO

William James Zelko, 68, of Greensburg, beloved husband of Rebecca Gardner Zelko, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Leo Zelko and Mary Zelko. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of serving in the Korean, Belgian Congo and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant and the American Legion Post #0515. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Zelko. Surviving are his loving wife, Rebecca Gardner Zelko; and stepsons, Gardner Douglas Keenan of Greensburg and Brendon Lee Keenan of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers , George Zelko of St. Lucie, Fla., and Leo Zelko of Ravenna, Ohio; and his mother -in-law, Ann Gardner of Greensburg. There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date. The family wishes memorial contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 555 Grant St., Suite #425, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-4408. Arrangements by KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., Greensburg.

HELEN M. BARRETT
Helen M. Barrett, 85, of McCandless Township, Pittsburgh, on Friday, June 9, 2000. Widow of Paul R. Barrett. Sister of Stella Bell and the late Ella Broush, Evelyn Mullin, Frank, Edward, Jack, Charles, George and William Forejt. Mrs. Barrett resided with the Frank Santora Sr. family and will be sadly missed by Jim, Herk, Bob and Judy. Friends may call SUNDAY from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GEORGE A. BENJAMIN C. BEAL

Benjamin C. "Benny" Beal, 88, of Connellsville, passed away Friday, June 9, 2000, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born June 13, 1911, in Connellsville, where he was a lifelong resident, and the son of the late Benjamin C. and Ella I. Housel Beal. He was a 1930 graduate of Connellsville High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He had been employed by the Fort Wayne Corrugated Paper Co. in South Connellsville and also by Anchor Cap Plant. He retired in 1977 from the U.S. Postal Service at the Connellsville Post Office, where he had worked for 34 years. He was a member of King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM of Connellsville of which he was past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Shrine and Comas Club. He was a member and past president of the Pa. YMCA Fellowship. He was a former member of the Trinity Reformed Church on Green Street, Connellsville. He was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church, South Connellsville, where he was a member of the Uber Bible Class and the United Methodist Men and played in the church orchestra. He was active in musical circles, having played the violin with the Silvertones, a local orchestra, and with the Sarasota Community Orchestra in Sarasota, Fla., for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Naomi J. Beal, whom he married July 2, 1977; two children, a son, Gary Black and wife, Terry, of Philadelphia, and a daughter, Linda Black of Morgantown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Gary Black Jr. of New York, Justin Black of Morgantown, W.Va., Bo Schlif of Philadelphia, Teressa Schlif of Conshohocken, Pa., and Diane Mumau of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha M. Beal, in 1971; a granddaughter, Wendy Antonucci; and sisters , Ethel Goswick, Susan "Tillie" Doppelheuer and Mary E. Trump. Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday in the Albright United Methodist Church, 1626 S. Pittsburgh St., South Connellsville, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at which time services will be held with the Rev. Dr. Byron Tate Fulton officiating. Committal and entombment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM will conduct a memorial ritual at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

SALLY COULTER

Sally Coulter, 66, of Parks Township, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in the Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born March 22, 1934, in Apollo, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Florence Clark Doutt, and had lived in the Kiski Valley all her life. Mrs. Coulter enjoyed cooking and reading. Survivors include her husband, Woodrow Coulter; a son, James Coulter of Parks Township; a daughter, Dorothy Coulter of Parks Township; and a brother, Donald Doutt of East Concord, N.Y. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, A Golden Rule Member, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where a service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T.J. McLaughlin officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
