Mrs. Helen Blickenstaff
Mrs. Helen Heffner Blickenstaff, 95, Frederick, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at the Golden Living
Center, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Daniel Nevin Blickenstaff, who died May 27, 1971.
She was born in Creagerstown, Feb. 27, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Charles Bernard and
Maud Mae Heffner Myers. Mrs. Blickenstaff was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church,
Walkersville, and prior to her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated a community
grocery store on Rosemont Avenue, for many years.
Surviving her is one daughter, Jean Blickenstaff Galloway and husband, Dr. Charles Barton Galloway
of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Stephen Galloway and wife, Judy of Fla., Lori Galloway
Chambers of Baltimore, and Michele Blickenstaff Jones and husband, Steven of Frederick; two
great-grandchildren, Alicia of Frederick, and Stephanie, of Fla.; one niece, Constance Crawford and
husband, Edgar of Frederick.
Mrs. Blickenstaff was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Daniel Blickenstaff; one brother,
Charles Lewis Myers; and one sister, Elizabeth Keefer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the
Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Charles G. Beekley, will
officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.
Mrs. Mary Crone
Mary Elizabeth Crone, 96, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Vidobona Nursing Home. She was
the wife of the late Mehrl L. Crone.
Born Oct. 11, 1911 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Francis and
Vandelia Haupt.
Mrs. Crone worked in house keeping for over 27 years for the Masser's Hotel until her retirement.
She most enjoyed time spent, and was well-known, for being an avid bingo player throughout
Frederick and surrounding areas.
Mrs. Crone is survived by her daughters Betty J. Blank and Phyllis Crone; her grandchildren, Alan
Griffith and wife, Carolyn of Hagerstown, Richard Griffith, Donnie Blank and wife, Brenda of
Middletown, James Blank and wife, Angie of Frederick, Ray Stine and wife, Tammy of Frederick,
David Stine and wife, Valerie of Hagerstown and Mary Ellen Musser and husband, Paul Sr. of
Middletown; nine great-grandchildren, Amy Umbrell, Paula Brown, Paul Musser Jr., Stacy Stream,
Donna Blank, David Griffith Jr., Kimberly Burras, Amanda Stine, and Chelsa Stine; six great-greatgrandchildren,
Bradley Umbrell, Hannah Brown, Cody Burras, Scooter Stream, Devin Stream, Sara
Stream and her sister, Beulah Swope.
Mrs. Crone was preceded in death by one brother, Roscoe Haupt; two sisters, Annie Smith and
Nellie Shank; a nephew, Ray Shank and a son-in-law, Donald Blank Sr.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 7, from at the Keeney and Basford,
P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday,
March 8, at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Mount Airy. Reverend Tom Parris will officiate.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Alan Griffith, Ricky Griffith, Donnie Blank, Ray Stine Jr., David Stine,
and Paul Musser Jr. Interment will be at the Middletown Reformed cemetery, Middletown.
Father Wayne G. Funk
Father Wayne G. Funk, 70, Pastor of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church,
Frederick, died peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born January 6, 1938 in Baltimore, he was a son of Clara I. Lambert Funk, of Catonsville and the
late Alfred H. Funk.
Father Funk was ordained December 19, 1962 at the Church of Christ the King, Rome, Italy and
was first assigned to Saint Agnes Parish in Catonsville. He was later appointed to the faculty of
the Pontifical North American College in Rome, where he served until returning to Baltimore as
Associate Pastor of Saint Matthew's Parish. He faithfully served the Parish until his appointment
as Director of Clergy Personnel for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He later returned to Saint
Matthew's Parish, where he served as Pastor until he assumed the same position with Saint John
the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick where he has served for many years.
He is survived by two brothers, Alfred H. Funk, Jr. and wife, Seldra and John W. Funk and his
faithful friend, Gloria Scherer, all of Baltimore; a nephew, Donald W. Funk and wife Ann; great nephew,
Paul E. Funk and wife Jennifer; and great-great-nephew, Samuel C. Funk.
His body will be prayerfully received at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118
East Second Street, Frederick at 5pm on Monday, February 18 where friends may call until 9pm.
Friends and parishioners are also welcome to visit during a vigil on Tuesday, February 19th from
1 to 9pm and where a Wake Service will be offered on Tuesday at 7pm by the Most Reverend W.
Francis Malooly, Vicar of Western Maryland for the Archdiocese of Baltimore..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, February 20th from the
church, with the Most Reverend Archbishop William D. Borders, as principal celebrant, with
commendation by His Excellency Edwin F. O'Brien, Archbishop of the Baltimore Diocese.
Interment will be in Saint John's cemetery, Frederick.

Mr. Cyrus Gambrill Jr.
Mr. Cyrus Gambrill Jr., 82, of Frederick, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Frederick Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. Gambrill was born April 2, 1925, the son of the late Cyrus Gambrill and Miriam Hagedorn
Gambrill. He was a graduate of Frederick High School and attended Cornell, Drexel, Maryland
College Park universities.
During World War II, Mr. Gambrill served in The American Field Service as an ambulance driver
attached to the British forces in Burma. After World War II, he was employed at the GL Baking
Company. In 1959, he went to work at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory where he was
employed until his retirement in 1985. Throughout his career, he demonstrated both a broad
knowledge and wide range of skills in microwave testing techniques. For years he served as lead
engineer of the Antenna and Boresight Facility where he supervised facility personnel and performed
liaison with the Fleet Systems Department's engineering staff.
Surviving are the mother of his children, Ann Meadows Gambrill of Fredrick; Cyrus Gambrill, III and
wife, Deborah of Clayton, Calif., Peter H. Gambrill of Bozeman, Mont., and Susan G. Tremaine of
Thurmont; grandchildren, Owen, Conor, Ainslee and Aidan Tremaine.
Mr. Gambrill will be especially remembered by his beloved daughter-in-law, Deborah Coppola
Gambrill and very caring cousins, Pete and Eleanor Bowers and family, along with the Michel family.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Hadley P. Tremaine.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Keeney
and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Private interment will be in the Mount

Mrs. Margaret Guth
Margaret D. Guth, 89, of Frederick, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008. She was born Jan. 6, 1919
in Massachusetts. Formerly married to Stewart Guth.
She is the loving mother of Carol Guth of Adamstown. She is also survived by many nieces and
nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Guth of Frederick, in 2000.
Margaret was a loving caregiver to her daughter who suffered from cerebral palsy, requiring
constant care and attention.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Keeney & Basford,
P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m.,
Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. Second St., Frederick.

Mrs. Willie Harris
Willie June Harris, 90, formerly of Richlands, Va., died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at the Glade Valley
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Harris.
Born Aug. 2, 1917 in Richlands, Va., she was the daughter of the late William N. and Dora James
Bates.
Mrs. Harris was a longtime resident of the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of
Walkersville and was a member of the Valley Baptist Church of Jefferson.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her son-in-law, Edward J. Mulhern of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Rebecca
Mulhern-Pescatore and Charles Tuell; great-grandchildren, Tyler E. Pescatore, Hunter Tuell and
Joseph Robinson; nephews, Bill, Joe and Denny Smith.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her daughter, Iola
Ruth Mulhern.
Visitation with family will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A.,
Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Interment will be held in Richlands, Va. at the convenience of the family.
Ms. Nancy Hawkins
Nancy Lee Hawkins, age 62, of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Frederick
Memorial Hospital. Born on Sept. 11, 1945, she is the daughter of Edna Wachter of Frederick and
the late George Wachter Sr.
Nancy worked for 13 years at West Frederick Middle School, where she was employed as a
custodian. She took great pride in her work. She also loved all animals, having many different
kinds as pets. She always enjoyed cleaning her home, and cooking for her family. Her favorite
meal was steak and a Heineken.
Nancy was the loving mother to Cheryl Renyolds and husband, Alan Tobery, of Thurmont, and
Sheldon Gregory Hawkins Jr., a long-time resident of Frederick, currently of Middletown. She is the
grandmother of three, Chasity Renyolds, Madison Tobery and Justin Tobery, all of Thurmont. Also
surviving is one brother, George Wachter Jr. of Frederick. She also leaves behind special friends,
Don and Mary Crabbs, Ann and Harvey Long, and Dina Dorsey. She will also be missed by the many
members of the Dawg Pound.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the Keeney & Basford P.A.

Mrs. Mary Heffner
Mary E. Heffner, 100, of Frederick, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008. She was the wife of
the late Clarence E. Heffner who passed away in 1988.
Born Sept. 27, 1907 in Mountaindale, she was the daughter of the late William C.
and Maime Bowers Geesey.
Mrs. Heffner was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Frederick. She
was employed at the Frederick Hosiery Company into the late 1920's before
becoming a homemaker.
Mrs. Heffner was the last of eight siblings and is survived by her two sons, Edward
W. Heffner and wife, Patricia of Shenedale, W.Va. and Robert W. Heffner and wife,
Marilyn of Thurmont. She was additionally survived by five grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren
and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation with family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at the Keeney and
Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the funeral home. The
Rev. Kenneth R. Dunnington will officiate. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet
cemetery, Frederick.

Mrs. Mary Louise Jones
Mrs. Mary Louise Jones, 87, of Frederick, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008,
at her home in Crestwood Village. She was the wife of Ernest P. Jones Jr.,
USAF, Ret.
Born in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, on July 20, 1920, she was a daughter of the late
Donald and Beatrice Kinkead.
She had worked for many years as a purchaser for several department
stores.
Surviving her, in addition to her husband, is one daughter, Sue Ellen Padilla
and husband, Ignacio; one brother, Larry Kinkead, of Toledo, Ohio; four
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, in the
Arlington National cemetery, Fort Myer, Va. Those wishing to attend should
be at the administration building by 1:30 p.m. The Keeney and Basford
Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, is in charge of the
arrangements.

Mrs. Ada Kinna-Lenhart
Ada Elizabeth Kinna-Lenhart, 72, of Hagerstown, former resident of Frederick
and Montgomery Counties, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 at the
Western Maryland Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ralph F. Kinna who
passed away in 1984 and was the wife of the late James D. Lenhart who
passed away in 1991.
Born Aug. 24, 1935 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and
Hilda Staub-Rice.
Mrs. Lenhart spent most of her life as a travel agent for the Carlson Travel
Network and Fairchild Industries. In her early married life with Ralph, they
were dairy farmers in Monrovia and Poolesville. She was a former church
organist, having played at the Poolesville United Methodist Church, the
Doubs United Methodist Church, Araby United Methodist Church and the
Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lenhart is survived by her two children, Jean Kinna Baker and husband,
William of Big Pool and Bruce Kinna and wife, Patty of the Hagerstown/
Smithsburg area; her three grandchildren, Jeanne Baker, William S. Baker
and his wife, Bertha and Brandy Kinna; one great-grandchild, Donavan
Santimier and two step-great-grandchildren Leah and Marco Oliveria.
Mrs. Lenhart was preceded in death by one brother Arnold M. Rice.
Visitation with family will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at
the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, from the funeral
