Lauren M. Hamby

Lauren M. Hamby, 20, of 8466 Diehl's Woods Road, St. Thomas, died on Monday, December 8, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in a Lincoln Way East motor vehicle accident on Monday morning. Born on October 11, 1988 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of Crystal A. Lutz (wife of Daryl) Helman, of St. Thomas and Keith C. Hamby of Hagerstown, MD.
A 2007 graduate of Manito Alternative High School, she attended James Buchanan High School. She was attending Harrisburg Area Community College, studying to be a registered nurse. Lauren was also working for Federal Express in Hagerstown. Among her interests, she enjoyed drawing, hiking, and music. She also had a special love for animals.
Aside from her parents she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Kenneth Lutz of Fayetteville; paternal grandmother Geraldine (and step-grandfather, Charles) Doyle, of Hagerstown; step-grandparents, Shirley and Jay Helman of Chambersburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ronald H. Hamby.

Robert E. Klein
August 31, 1936-February 16, 2009
Robert Edward Klein, age 72, of 2715 Esther Drive, Chambersburg, died on February 16, 2009 at Penn Hall Nursing Center. He was born on August 31, 1936, the son of the late Clarence Edward Klein and Carrie Greiner Stadtlander Klein of Pittsburgh.
Holding a BFA degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an MA degree in art from Pennsylvania State University, he taught for three years in the public schools and seven at the college level. His next project was transforming a sixty-year-old Pennsylvania barn into a gallery featuring original American art and craft work. Working in painting, collage, printmaking and sculpture, his art revolved around his love of the countryside. In 1985 he moved to a chalet on North Mountain near Martinsburg, WV. When Parkinson's Disease made it impossible to continue his art work, he turned his creative energies into writing, winning several awards from his area Writers; Guild. In 1985 he moved to Luther Ridge Retirement community in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Agnew Klein, and two sons, William Alan Klein of Camden, NJ and James Richard Klein of Philipsburg, PA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2 PM; where Rev. Beth Miller and Rev. Herbert Spomer will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Luther Ridge or any of the Parkinson's Disease foundations.
Betty M. McClure
August 26, 1921 - January 25, 2009
Betty M. McClure, 87, of 4785 Newman Road, Fayetteville, PA, died at 1:55 PM Sunday, January 25, 2009. Born August 26, 1921 in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Bohn Brookens. A homemaker most of her life, she attended Coldspring United Brethren Church and the First Pentecostal Church. Her beloved husband, James McClure, preceded her in death on January 16, 2001.
She is survived by four children, David K. McClure of Chambersburg, Mark McClure of Fayetteville, Barbara Forrester of Chambersburg, and Matthew McClure of Shippensburg; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jeff Brookens; and two sisters, Helen Godshall and Eleanor Whelan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James McClure, III; two brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Chaplain Chuck Ryan will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing.
John F. Ciccarelli
December 30, 1947 - June 4, 2008
John F. Ciccarelli, age 60, of 49 Midland Drive, Chambersburg, PA, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, June 4, 2008 at home. Born December 30, 1947 in Huntingdon, PA, he was a son of the late William and Yolanda Sisto Ciccarelli. John was a 1965 graduate of Huntingdon High School and attended technical school at Williamsport Community College. He served with the National Guard in Huntingdon for 20 years. He worked at Office Suppliers, then opened his own business, Ciccarelli Office Machines, which he operated for 10 years in Chambersburg. He was currently employed as a maintenance mechanic at Knouse Foods in Chambersburg. John was a devoted member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1426, Chambersburg, PA. He enjoyed bowling, playing poker, going to Bingo, watching Pittsburgh Steelers games, but most importantly, John enjoyed being with his family.
A devoted husband and Father, he is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Huhn Ciccarrelli, whom he married November 8, 1969; three children, Michelle Eyer and husband Christian of Chambersburg, Theresa Oller and husband Richard of Fayetteville, and Angela Ciccarelli of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Devin Eyer, Colby Eyer, Dominick Lehman, and Savannah Oller; and two brothers, William Ciccarelli and wife Cathy of Chambersburg, and James Ciccarelli and wife Sue of Lafayette, Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Leasure, and a grandson, Damian Ciccarelli. John will be greatly missed by all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James R. O'Brien at 10 AM Monday, June 9, 2008 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM Sunday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.

William P. Williams
September 27, 1935-November 18, 2008
William P. Williams, 73, formerly of 102 Springwood Avenue, St. Thomas, PA, died at 12:30 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 27, 1935 in Blairs Mills, PA, he was a son of the late Irvin T. and Mary E. Smith Williams. He served in the US Air Force and was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg as an Artillery Repairman, retiring after twenty-eight years of service. William was a member of West Side Brethren In Christ Church near Chambersburg. He enjoyed spending time at church and at the Senior Center in Ft. Loudon, and visiting with his family.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Beth Bickle of East Waterford; three step-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard and wife Verna of East Waterford, Thomas and wife Sharon of Three Springs, Eugene and wife Miki of Lewistown, and Irvin and wife Cris of Scotland; and two sisters, Ruth Snyder and husband Bill of Hanover and Martha Yohn and husband Charles of Blairs Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole J. McClure Williams in 1988 and a daughter, Donna Sue Williams in 1964.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2008 in Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA. Pastor James Sollenberger will officiate. Interment will follow in Upper Path Valley cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.

Catherine King Thomas

Catherine King Thomas, 78, of 411 Cedar Street, Chambersburg, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in her home. Born on March 12, 1930 in Columbus, GA, she was a daughter of the late Robert King Sr. and Ida Mae Cutts King Smith. She was the widow of Benjamin Thomas, who preceded her in death on October 12, 1990.
Catherine was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Chambersburg and the NAACP. A full time mother, she raised fourteen children, while also doing factory work outside of the home. Surviving are 12 children, Benjamin Thomas Jr., Jerome Thomas, Carmerlita (Harold) Noel, and Hester (Jett) Thomas, all of Chambersburg, Larry (Anita) Thomas of Gettysburg, Sonny "Sammy" Thomas of Greensburg, Johnny (Barbara) Thomas of Harrisburg, Frankie Thomas of White Deer, PA, Betty Thomas, Sheila (Michael)Haggins, Anthony (Patricia) Thomas and Douglas Thomas, all of Chambersburg; three sisters, Mary King of Biglerville, Rose Bolton of South Carolina, and Gloria Brown of St. Thomas; one brother, Robert King Jr. of Gettysburg; 32 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and numerous great great and great great great grandchildren. Aside from her husband she was preceded in death by a son Michael, a daughter, Frances Hankerson, a brother Willie King, and a sister, Christine Bates.

Maliyah Lynn Shauf
August 7, 2001 - October 17, 2010
Maliyah Lynn Shauf, age 9, of 2015 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA, died peacefully at her home Sunday morning, October 17, 2010. Born August 7, 2001 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of Dennis Scott and Brandy Lee Gontz Shauf. Maliyah was a fourth grade student at Grandview Elementary School in Chambersburg. She attended Central Presbyterian Church and enjoyed participating in the Sunday School program. She was an avid animal lover and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by twin brothers, Kamden and Kobe; a sister, Kyra; Paternal Grandparents Dennis and Deborah Shauf of Chambersburg; Maternal Grandfather Ralph Gontz, Jr. of Shippensburg; Paternal Great-Grandmothers Alta Holden of Chambersburg and Jane Shauf of Fayetteville; and Maternal Great-Grandmother Mary Gontz of Shippensburg. She is also survived by her uncle, Dustin Shauf of Chambersburg, and her aunt Tiffany O'Hara of Shippensburg. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandmother, Darlene K. Sylvester; Maternal Great Grandfather, Ralph Gontz, Sr., Paternal Great Grandfather John W. Strayer, Sr. and Paternal Great Grandfather David S. Shauf, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 22, 2010 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. John B. Bayer, Jr. will officiate. Curtis E. McMullen
July 22, 1984 - October 14, 2007
Curtis E. McMullen, 23, of Mongul Road Newburg, died on Sunday, October 14, 2007 as a result of a single car automobile accident on Amberson Road. Born on July 22, 1984 in McConnellsburg, he was a son of Carmen S. McMullen of Orrstown and Philip E. Wallace of Blain, PA.
A 2003 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Curtis was employed with Grove Manitowoc Crane Group in Greencastle. He attended Mt. Rock Church in Shippensburg, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. In his spare time Curtis enjoyed spending time with his sons, his family and friends, going fishing, playing pool and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Aside from his parents he is survived by his two sons, Cody A. McMullen of Bigglerville, PA and David P. Ryan of Chambersburg, PA; two sisters, Misty S. Neil of Fannettsburg and Lacey Q. Wallace of Loysville, PA; one brother, Toby L. Wallace of Loysville; maternal grandparents Dorsetta and Allen Hockenberry of Doylesburg; paternal grandparents, Arlene and J. Gard Wallace of Blain, a nephew Jadyn J. Rowe of Fannettsburg, PA, and many aunts uncles and cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 20, 2007 in Mt. Rock Church, 22 Mt. Rock Road, Shippensburg, with the Rev. Christopher D. Clugh officiating. Doris J. Scott
Doris J. Scott, 61, of 769 Fairground Avenue, Chambersburg, died, Monday, Nov. 10 at her home.
Born June 4, 1942 in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Mark K. and Elsie Blakey Perry. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Leighton D. Scott Sr.
She obtained her Associate of Arts Degree from Hagerstown Business College.
She retired as a Nurses Aide from South Mountain Restoration Center in 1994, after 25 years of employment. She then worked for the former Citicorp in Hagerstown for approximately seven years until retiring in 2001.
She was a member of Brownsville Church of God in Fayetteville, where she was a minister to the faith in several capacities including teaching Sunday School, working with church youth and founding the Alabaster Box women’s ministry.
She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by four daughters, Angela M. Harris and Melinda A. Woods, both of Chambersburg, Anita E. Johnson of Tampa, Fla. and Deborah L. Manning of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Mark E. Scott and Leighton D. Scott Jr., both of Chambersburg; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be held in The Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Friday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Victor T. Johnson and Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Gertrude M. Kolnoski
Gertrude M. Kolnoski, 80, of 220 Lehman Avenue, Fayetteville, died, Thursday, Oct. 23 in Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born March 22, 1923 in Johnsonburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella Kasper Kanski. Her husband, Edwin L. Kolnoski died in Feb. 18, 1999. Her first husband, Joseph Plawischak also preceded her in death on May 21, 1960.
She was a 1941 graduate of the former Johnsonburg High School in Johnsonburg, Pa.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Earnest of Chambersburg and Kathleen Beaston of Fayetteville, Pa.; two brothers, Bernard Kanski and James Kanski, both of Johnsonburg; four grandchildren and two grandchildren.
Aside from her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, Monday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. with Rev. James R. O’Brien officiating. Interment will be in Corpus Christi cemetery, Chambersburg.

John C. Cramer
February 28, 1929 - June 4, 2008
John C. Cramer, 79, of 462 East Washington Street, Chambersburg, PA, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at home. Born February 28, 1929 in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Elmer G. "Mike" and Izzetta Straley Cramer. John was a 1948 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He served in the US Air Force for 22 years, retiring in 1970 at the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he served in Turkey, the Philippines, and 2 tours in Korea. He was a life member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, and Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, all in Chambersburg. He was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Air Force Sergeants Association, National Association Uniform Services, and T.R.E.A.
John is survived by a sister; Janet Love and husband William of Dale City, VA, a brother, Gilbert G. Cramer of Edenville, PA; four nephews, Randy Love of Fairhope, AL, Scott Love of McDonough, GA, Ian Love of Fairhope, AL, and Gary Cramer of Fayetteville, PA; two nieces, Sally Pierpoint of Manassas, VA and Janice Cramer of Edenville, PA, and a number of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, June 9, 2008 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Rick Noll will officiate. Interment with military honors by members of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW will follow in Lincoln cemetery. Nellie B. Treher
November 2, 1912 - November 15, 2008
Nellie B. Treher, 96, of Fayetteville, PA, died at 4:04 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2008 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born November 2, 1912 in Greensburg, WV, she was raised in the former Quincy Orphanage, Quincy, PA following the death of her parents. She was a daughter of the late Harry Burns and Bessie Bender Tabler.
Nellie and her husband Dick lived in the Althoff House located near Devil's Den in Gettysburg National Military Park until their retirement, when they moved to Fayetteville. Mrs. Treher had been employed in the cafeteria of Gettysburg High School, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and a former member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, where she had been active with many women's groups and the Sunday school program. She was a member of AARP Chapter 2287 in Chambersburg and enjoyed canning jelly, tatting, embroidery, and reading religious and all other types of books. Her beloved husband, Thomas Richard Treher, preceded her in death on August 14, 1994.
She is survived by two children, Albert R. Treher and wife Anna Lee (Sanders) of Brook Park, OH and Mildred E. Beauchamp and husband George of Seaford, DE; three grandchildren, Mark Beauchamp, and Craig and Scott Treher; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristi Beauchamp. Nellie was the last of her five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, PA. Pastor Thomas Willis will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Charles H. Stumbaugh

Charles H. Stumbaugh age 88 of Fayettville, PA, died on Thursday, December 19, 2008. Born April 26, 1920 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John Alvin and Mabel Stumbaugh. He was the husband of the late Kathryne E. "Betty" Stumbaugh, who died March 22, 2006.
Mr. Stumbaugh was a welder/fabricator by trade and retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad and then Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his Grandchildren Richard C. (Jennifer S.)Weaver of Chambersburg and Kimberly Sue (John) Crider of Chambersburg; and great grandchildren Tyler Lindsey, Katelyn Lindsey, Chelsy Kernan, Kassy Crider, Abby Weaver, and Jane Weaver. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy Lea Weaver, and his siblings Walter Stumbaugh and Louise Morton.
The Rev. Dianne Salter will officiate. Interment will follow in Norland cemetery. Memorial contributions maybe made in his name to the First United Methodist Church, 225 South Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
George Wesley Simmers

George Wesley Simmers, 54, of 16 Redwood Street, Chambersburg, PA, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 in ManorCare Health Services where he had resided the past six weeks. Born February 18, 1953 in Waynesboro, he was a son of Milton Simmers, Sr. of Chambersburg and the late Ethel Louise Hollenshead Simmers. George was a member of the Overflow Ministry at Cedar Street Mennonite Church in Chambersburg.
In addition to his Father, he is survived by a son, George W. Snoke of Chambersburg, six brothers; Dennis and David Simmers of Chambersburg, Gordon Simmers of Greencastle, Nathan, Billy, and Brian Simmers, all of Chambersburg and five sisters; Nancy Walter of Waynesboro, Kathleen Suders, Laura Duke, Kimberly Miller, and Jody Simmers, all of Chambersburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Cedar Street Mennonite Church, 430 Cedar Street, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Douglas Lehman will officiate. Robert L. Suders Sr.
Robert L. Suders Sr., 42, of 53 N. Federal St., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at his residence.
Born Aug. 21, 1961, in York, he was a son of the late Harry R. "Dick" and Starr L. Leisher Suders.
Mr. Suders was a member of Freedom in Christ Church, Chambersburg.
A 1979 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, he was a self-employed carpenter in Chambersburg.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy L. Mills Suders; a son, Robert L. Jr. (husband of Christina) of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Taylor Suders and Jonathan Suders, both of Shippensburg; two granddaughters, Kaylee Suders of Shippensburg and Destiny Suders of Chambersburg; two brothers, Harry R. Jr. of El Paso, Texas, and William B. (husband of Candy) of Mercersburg; a sister, Susan L. (Mrs. Leo) Neil of Shippensburg; a stepmother, Betty McMullen Suders of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. John Pogue will officiate.
Burial will be in Salem cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
