JOHN THOMAS RICE SR.

John Thomas Rice Sr., 79, of Wilkins Township, on Sunday, June 4, 2000. John was the manager of manufacturing engineering for Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh Plant, when he retired in 1983 with 45 years of service. He proudly served as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines, both in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. He was a member of the board of commissioners in Wilkins Township for 14 years (1969 to 1983). He was a past president of the Westinghouse Foremen's Association. He was a former member of the Lion's Club of North Versailles, serving as treasurer from 1952 to 1954. He was also a member of the John Dayton Rodgers VFW Post 6681 in Wilkins Township. Cherished husband of Barbara (Kessler) Rice for 56 years. Son of the late Edward and Mary Rice. Beloved Father and best friend of Robert Rice and his wife, Carol, of North Huntingdon, E. Duffy Rice and his wife, Cathy, of Murrysville, Joy Marie Staudt of Wilkins Township, and the late James and the late John Rice Jr. Grandfather "Pap" of Dustin, Brian, Jennifer, Eric, Jesse James, Jamee, James, Lindsay and Kasey Rice, and Scott Staudt, and the late Terri Shawn Rice. Stepgrandfather of Tara, Amber, Brandy, Misty, Josh and Christy. Brother of Dorothy Mignogna, Betty Carrigg, Edward "Ozzie" Rice, and the late William Rice and the late Mary Martha Welsh. uncle of Terry Welsh, Mary Jane Mignogna, Susan Combetty, Lucy Grad, Maurie Arkangel, Mary Dalton and Jo Ann Comer. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh, (412) 824-8800. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Colman Church Wednesday at 10 a.m.

EDITH CLAIRE (COSHUN) SMITH

Edith Claire (Coshun) Smith, 79, of Pitcairn, died Friday, June 2, 2000. Wife of the late Walter D. Smith. mother of Barry D. Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Douglas C. Smith of Orlando, Fla. Also survived by three grandchildren. Edith was a World War II Army nurse in the European Theater. She had a nursing career of 40 years and was head nurse at Columbia Hospital in the newborn nursery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn. Funeral services will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pitcairn, Thursday at 10 a.m. with Pastor W. Wesley Weidenhamer officiating and Pastor James Spitzel assisting.

MICHAEL E. BODNAR

Michael E. Bodnar, 88, of Hunker, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born March 25, 1912, in Greensburg, a son of the late Michael J. and Emilia Bodnar, and stepmother, Susan J. Bodnar. He was retired from Walworth of Greensburg and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, New Stanton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Bodnar; a stepbrother, John Michael; and a grandchild, James Foschia. He is survived by his wife, Olga Bodnar; a son, Daniel R. Bodnar and wife, Helga, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Foschia of Hunker; three grandchildren, John Foschia of Greensburg, Christine Foschia of Hunker, and Sylvia Christopoledge of Fort Myers, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Heidi Birkl of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Robert Foschia of Hunker, J.J., Tessa Marie, Samantha, and Cassandra Lynn Foschia of Greensburg; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hope Birkl of Lehigh Acres, Fla. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. A.J. Domines officiating. Interment Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.

LEONA MAE (FLORY) CLINE

Leona Mae (Flory) Cline, 69, of Export, formerly of Pitcairn, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000. Wife of the late Ninko Trkula and William Cline; mother of Nicholas Trkula of Saltsburg, Rae Turner of Monroeville and the late Mary Johnson; and sister of Robert Flory of Harrison City and James Flory of Georgia. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.

MERRILY JAD DANIELS

Merrily Jad Daniels, on Wednesday, June 7, 2000. Beloved wife of Mark Daniels. mother of Diane Daniels and Thomas Matsey. Daughter of Helen and the late Frank Jad. Sister of Melissa, Kimberly and J. Frank Jad. aunt of Alexandra, Gabrielle and Matthew Zabierek. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS INC., 4900 Centre Ave. at Devonshire Street, Oakland, Thursday and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment Lakewood Memorial Gardens.

NICHOLAS J. FEALS

Nicholas J. "Nick" Feals, 80, of Rillton, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in his home. He was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Rillton, a son of the late Peter C. Sr. and Anna (Sumonoka) Feals. Prior to his retirement, "Nick" was self-employed and co-owner of Feals brothers Garage in Rillton, where he was in business from 1946 thru 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. His memberships included: St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, where he served as an usher for many years. Also the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Herminie S.N.P.J. Lodge #87, a life member of the Rillton VFW Post #8518, and was a founding charter member of the Rillton V.F.D. Station #14, where he served as its first secretary treasurer for 10 years. Mr. Feals, "Nick," is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julia (Ricci) Feals; three sons , Robert and his wife, Rita, of North Huntingdon, Richard of Rillton, and David and his wife, Deborah Feals, of Portsmouth, N.H.; a daughter, Claudia Ziegler and her husband, Derick, of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two brothers , Harry of North Huntingdon and John Feals of Rillton; a sister, Ella Samulski of Rillton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Feals, "Nick," was preceded in death by a brother, Peter C. Feals Jr.; and three sisters , Mary Colussy, Katheryn Paroline, and Anna Pickerine. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas as celebrant. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Greensburg VFW Post #33 Honor Guard will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The Rillton Volunteer Fire Department Station #14 will meet for services Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A St. Edward parish rosary will be recited Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rillton VFW Post #8518 will meet for services Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

THOMAS L. FICCO SR.

Thomas L. Ficco Sr., 89, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in the Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Greensburg, a son of the late Dominic and Genevieve Teet Ficco. He had been employed as a foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1929 until his retirement in 1975. Tom, known fondly as "the personality kid of New York City," was well-known throughout the Eastern United States as an entertainer, stage and radio star. He was also a well-known master of ceremonies at beauty pageants, night clubs, and amateur nights at talent shows and dance clubs. He was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara E. Mroczkowski Ficco, on Dec. 11, 1993; a grandson, Scott A. Ficco; five brothers , Tony, James, Nick, Dan, and Joseph Ficco; and a sister, Mary Carnevale. He is survived by three sons , Thomas L. Ficco Jr., Robert J. Ficco, and Jerry A. Ficco, all of Greensburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Rose Leonard of Southwest Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at noon in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont.

PAUL H. FLICK

Paul H. Flick, 79, of Trafford, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in the Cedars Of Monroeville Home. He was born May 10, 1921, in Chicora, Pa., a son of the late Herman and Mable Edna Duer Flick. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Trafford. Retired employee of Westinghouse Electric. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara L. Pedder, in 1993; and a brother, George Flick. He is survived by a son, Paul R. Flick of Pittsburgh; two daughters , Patty Kandcer of Elizabeth Township and Carol Flick of Trafford; a sister, Mary Kintigh of Trafford; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. VISITATION AND SERVICES WILL BE PRIVATE. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Fairmont Avenue, Trafford, PA 15085. Arrangements by JOHN M. ALTHEA JEANNE JELLISON

Althea Jeanne Jellison, 56, of Hostetter, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born July 17, 1943, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late Luther and Goldie Peterson Ribblet. She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Jellison; two daughters , Tracey Krepps and her husband, Robert Jr., of Hostetter and Donna Loucks and her husband, Walter T., of Hostetter; a brother, Edward Ribblet, and a sister, Cathy Ribblet, both of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Robert and Antasha Krepps, and Kent and Cassandra Loucks; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. John George officiating. Private interment in Bethel Cemetery, Cook Township.

LAURA MAE MANTSCH

Laura Mae Mantsch, 86, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Port Charlotte, Fla. She resided in Florida since 1972, moving from Brookline, Pa., where she and her husband, Gustave, owned and operated the "Blue Bonnet Bakery" for 25 years, retiring in 1971. She was a surgical nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was a Eucharistic minister and C.C.D. teacher in Florida. Mrs. Mantsch was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband, Gustave. Survivors include her sisters , Madeline Weber and Rita Schmidt, both of North Port, Fla., and Roseanna Kleber of Painesville, Ohio; and a brother, Leo Reid of Pittsburgh. Services 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Port Charlotte, Fla. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the KAYS-PONGER FUNERAL HOME, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla.

DOROTHY J. (COVERT) MULLENNIX

Dorothy J. (Covert) Mullennix, 69, of Delmont, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. She was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Marienville, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Mary (Gadley) Covert. Dorothy was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers , Robert and Donald Covert; and a sister, June Shipe. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert Mullennix; two sons , John Mullennix of Johnstown and Richard Mullennix of New Castle; a sister, Bette Covert of Hermitage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Dottie's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Frederick Heitzenroder of Salem Lutheran Church of Delmont officiating. FRANK R. PERFETTA SR.

Frank R. "Banjo" Perfetta Sr., 95, of Slickville, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born April 28, 1905, in Sandy Creek (Allegheny County), a son of the late Joseph and Mary Ventresca Perfetta. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a coal miner and construction worker, primarily for Dick Corp., Large. He was a member of St. Sylvester Church in Slickville and the Holy Name Society of the church; an honorary life member of the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department; a member of Laborers Union #373 of Pittsburgh; the sons of Columbus in Export; the Slickville Sportsmen's Club; and a social member of the Slickville Civic Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia M. Mikolajcik Perfetta, in 1998; a son, Frank F. Perfetta, in 1991; two daughters -in-law, Mary Maruca Perfetta and Mary Santucci Perfetta; three brothers , John, Telio, and Domenic Perfetta; two sisters , Philomena "Minnie" Marnell and Pandelia Perfetta; a stepbrother, John DeNaro; a grandson, Anthony W. Perfetta; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Jean Perfetta. Survived by three children, John R. "Wallio" Perfetta of Slickville, Richard J. Perfetta and his wife, Peggy, of Export, and Louise A. Shawley and her husband, Harold, of Slickville; a daughter-in-law, Judith A. White Perfetta of Slickville; a stepsister, Rose Colarusso of Pitcairn; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. Raymond E. Riffle as celebrant. A chapel committal service and interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. JANE (SNODGRASS) REEB

Jane (Snodgrass) Reeb, 71, of Ross Township, on Tuesday, June 6, 2000. Beloved wife of John R. Reeb Jr.; beloved mother of Andrew C. Reeb of Minneapolis, Minn.; beloved sister of C. Don Snodgrass of Orinda, Calif.; and beloved aunt of Donna Sanderson of Vallejo, Calif., and Denise Wight of Martinez, Calif. Mrs. Reeb had retired from Kaufmann's Department Store, Downtown, where she was a sales associate for 22 years. Upon her retirement, she had volunteered for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Oakland. Mrs. Reeb was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral as well as a member of the Order of St. Luke, The Physician. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Perrysville. Funeral service will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Interment Allegheny County Memorial Park.
