Elmer C. Donaldson Jr.
Elmer C. Donaldson Jr., 79, of 200 North Allison St., Greencastle, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 in the Penn Hall Nursing Center, Chambersburg, where he has been a resident for over two years.
Born Aug. 10, 1927 in Jeannette, he was the son of the late Elmer C. Sr. and Elizabeth Jean (Peden) Donaldson.
He was employed at Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, from 1962 to 1970 and last worked at the Frick Co., Waynesboro.
Mr. Donaldson was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, where he served on the church council and on the food pantry committee.
He was also a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, Greencastle.
Mr. Donaldson was a graduate of Jeanette High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He and his wife, Helen C. (Clark) Donaldson were married Nov. 27, 1948 in Fredonia.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son, Kim A. (wife of Susan) Donaldson of Greenbackville, Va.; two daughters, Lisa E. Donaldson of York Beach, Maine, and Wendy S. Donaldson of Glen Burnie, Md.; a brother, Glenn Donaldson of Greensburg; a sister, Jean Kline of Spotsylvania, Va.; two nieces; and two nephews.
Services were held the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 13 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, with Pastor Martin Horn and Chaplain Robert Keener officiating.
Burial will be in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or to the Penn Hall Nursing Center, 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Ethel L. Brown
Ethel L. Brown, 96, a resident of The Village of Laurel Run of Fayetteville, since July 1, 2006 and formerly of Greencastle, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006 in the nursing home.
Born May 9, 1910 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Norman D. and Anna Grace (Goetz) Diehl.
She was last employed in the Greencastle-Antrim School District at the elementary school cafeteria. In her younger years, she worked at the former Gem Garment Co., Greencastle and Connie Sportswear, Waynesboro.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Greencastle.
She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319, Greencastle; Greencastle Senior Women's Club; Greencastle Homemakers; GreencastleAntrim Loyal daughters. She also attended and volunteered at the Greencastle Senior Center.
Mrs. Brown enjoyed crocheting, making afghans and doing needlework.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ross A. Shank, in 1944; her second husband, Nelson W. Poe, in 1962; and her third husband, George Brown, in 1975.
She is surviving by two daughters, H. Lorraine Anderson, a resident of The Village Of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, and Carol A. Huybert of Everett; a brother, William Diehl of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Shank, in 1947; two brothers; and six sisters.
Services were held the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 10 in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle with Rev. Glen A. Miller officiating.
Burial was in the Cedar Hill cemetery, Greencastle.

Leatha (Elliott) Pensinger
Leatha (Elliott) Pensinger, 67 of 156 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, died unexpectedly at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006 in the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore, Md.
Born Sept. 11, 1938 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Dwight G. and Vida (Barnhart) Elliott.
She and her husband, Thomas R. Pensinger of Greencastle, were married Feb. 25, 1957 in Hagerstown, Md.
Mrs. Pensinger graduated from the Greencastle High School in 1956.
She retired in 2000 after 26 years from the First National Bank of Greencastle where she last worked as a loan officer.
Mrs. Pensinger was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, where she was active in several groups and activities of the church.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, crafts, flower arranging and she was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kim Pensinger Witman of Vienna, Va.; a son, Doug Pensinger of Denver, Colo.; a brother, William Elliott of Hagerstown, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Services were held the morning of Monday, Sept. 11 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating.
Burial was in the Cedar Hill cemetery, Greencastle.

Merrill W. Carbaugh
Merrill W. Carbaugh, 88, of 3543 Sportsman Road, Greencastle, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Edna Elizabeth Kriner
Mrs. Edna Elizabeth (Bingaman) Kriner, 84, of 63-B Eastern Ave., Greencastle, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Robert and Ann Cunningham, 11574 Bemisderfer Road, Greencastle. She was in failing health for the past six weeks and critically ill for the past three weeks.
Born on May 13, 1922 in State Line, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Andrew D. and Annie E. (Bowders) Bingaman. She lived her early life in State Line.
Mrs. Kriner attended the Middleburg School.
She and her husband of over 65 years, John H. Kriner, were married Nov. 2, 1940 in Hagerstown, Md. They lived at 660 Woodland Parkway, State Line, for many years, and moved to the present residence in 2005.
Mrs. Kriner was employed for a short time at Woodland Way School, Hagerstown, as a cafeteria worker. Most of life, she devoted in caring for her home and family.
Mrs. Kriner attended Calvary Assembly of God Church, Waynesboro.
She enjoyed, canning, baking, gardening, quilting, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Joan E. Carty and Ann S. Cunningham, both of Greencastle; a son, Donald E. Kriner of Laurel, Del.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Dehart of Greencastle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Annabelle Reed, Clara Smith, Mary Jones, Helen Yeakle Rotz, Rev. Thelma Christopel and Hazel Bingaman; five brothers, John Bingaman, Roy Bingaman Sr., Charles Bingaman and infant brothers, Samuel Bingaman and Robert Bingaman.
Services were held the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 18 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Walter A. Stuart, Pastor Dwan N. Newsome and Pastor Adam Leeper officiating.
Burial was in Beautiful View cemetery, State Line, Md.

Keith E. Alexander
Keith E. Alexander, 51, of 11671 Hades Church Road, Shady Grove, was pronounced dead at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 in his home. Death was unexpected and attributed to a massive heart attack.
Born Nov. 23, 1954 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Gordon L. Alexander of Shady Grove and the late Thelma Jean (Leister) Alexander, who died Aug. 5, 2006. He lived most of his life in Shady Grove.
Mr. Alexander graduated from Highland View Academy, Hagerstown, Md., with the Class of 1972. He then attended Columbia Union College in Tacoma Park, Md.
He and his wife, Mrs. Judy A. (Lewis) Alexander, were married on July 20, 1980 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Waynesboro. They moved to the present residence on Nov. 19, 1981.
Mr. Alexander was employed by Review and Herald Publishing Association, Hagerstown, since 1973. He served as assistant vice president of manufacturing.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Waynesboro, where he served as an elder, deacon, youth teacher, with path finders and was a missionary.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, and while in high school played the trumpet.
In addition to his Father and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amanda S. Alexander and Melinda H. Alexander, both of Shady Grove; a grandson, Trenten A. Ditch of Shady Grove; three brothers, Allen L. Alexander of Smithsburg, Md., Carl L. Alexander of Denver, Col. and Gordon E. Alexander of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane A. Alexander.
Services were held the morning of Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Waynesboro with Elder Thomas L. Hennlein officiating.
Burial was in Green Hill cemetery, Waynesboro.

Josephine Jeanette Rinehart
Mrs. Josephine Jeanette (Sword) Rinehart, 85, a resident of Manorcare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 6398 Gehr Road, St. Thomas, died at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 in the nursing home. She was in failing health for the past one and a half years and critically ill since Sept. 6, 2006.
Born on Sept. 18, 1920 in St. Thomas, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Mary Elizabeth (Yeager) Sword. She lived her early life in St. Thomas, and most of her life was lived in Greencastle.
Mrs. Rinehart attended school in Lemasters and Beautician School in Harrisburg.
She was married to the late Arthur J. Rinehart, and they lived on East Madison Street, Greencastle, for many years, and moved to the Gehr Road address in 1972. Mr. Rinehart died on Dec. 15, 1986. She entered the nursing home on March 23, 2001.
Mrs. Rinehart was self employed as a beautician, owning and operating Jeannette's Beauty Salon, Greencastle, from 1957 through 1967.
She was a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church, and the Detrich-Brechbiel American Legion Post 612 Ladies Auxiliary of St. Thomas.
Mrs. Rinehart enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing with her dog Duke.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Karolann Keller of Greencastle; two step grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie "Betty" Daley of Waynesboro and Janet "Dolly" Crider of St. Thomas; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Helen Barges of St. Thomas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Summers, and one brother, Samuel T. "Bun" Sword.
Services were held the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 16 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Roy E. Brake officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Hill cemetery, Greencastle.
Elden L. "Lee" Davis
Elden L. "Lee" Davis, 66, of 9417 Brown's Mill Road, Greencastle, died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006 in his home following an illness of seven months.
Harry D. "Bubby" Miller
Mr. Harry D. "Bubby" Miller, 61, of 11795 Waxwing Dr., Greencastle, died at 5:34 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, Md. after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 25, 1945 in Greencastle, he was the son of the late Marshall M. Miller Jr. and Naomi M. (Spickler) Miller. He spent his early life in Nova and was a life long resident of the Greencastle area.
Mr. Miller graduated from James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, with the Class of 1963. He also attended Franklin County Area Vocational School, Chambersburg.
He and his wife, Mary E. (Gregory) Miller, were married Sept. 2, 1967 in Johnstown. They had lived at their present residence for the last seven years. They formerly resided on Mercersburg Road, Greencastle.
Mr. Miller was first employed by Grove Manufacturing, Greencastle, as an industrial engineer from 1963 to 1985. He then worked for Waring Products, McConnellsburg, from 1986 to 1987. He was then employed by Cesco, Mercersburg, again as an industrial engineer from 1987 to 1991, and from 1993 to 1994 he worked for Loudon Industries, Mercersburg, as a shop supervisor. For several years he held part-time status with the former Exxon Station, Greencastle, and later Travel America, Greencastle, where he was currently employed.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and electrical repair.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rainelle D. Dixon and her husband Charles Jr. of Greencastle, Stefanie J. Strayer and her husband Jeremy, of Greencastle; five grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth N. Witmer of Greencastle and Susan K. Statler of Nova; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis A. Miller.
Services were held the morning of Friday, Sept. 15 in MillerBowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Major John T. Brooks officiating.
Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery, Greencastle.

Ruth V. (Black) Wagaman
Mrs. Ruth V. (Black) Wagaman, 79, of 10545 Letzburg Road, Greencastle, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, in her home. She had been in failing health since January.
Cinda J. Smith
Cinda J. Smith, 62, of 12534 Old Route 16 Waynesboro, died at 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 in Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, where she has resided since Sept. 14. She has been in failing health the last six weeks.
Born March 23, 1944 in Coseytown, she was the daughter of the late Rev. James A. and Corena B. (Atherton) Snider.
She was last employed as a nurses aid at the former Piney Mountain Home, Fayetteville, and also worked at Rotorex, Walkersville, Md. In her earlier life she worked at the former Waynesboro Knitting Mill and other local garment factories.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She and her husband, Roy L. Smith, were married April 13, 1974 in the Grace United Church Of Christ, Greencastle.
In addition to her husband, she was survived by three sons, Jeffrey L. Keller of Hagerstown, Md., Courtney A. Keller and James S. Keller, both of Waynesboro; a daughter, Melissa R. Hartman of Waynesboro; a brother, Ronald D. Snider of Mercersburg; a sister, Beverly M. Spangler of Greencastle; three step children, Jeffrey L. Smith of Florida, Gary L. Smith of New York and Cheryl J. Hall of Shippensburg; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Services were held the morning of Monday, Sept. 25 in Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle, with Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. officiating.
Burial was in the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church cemetery near Upton.
