Ann L. Musewicz, 84, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday evening, December 27, 2007, in Ascera Care Hospice, Peckville. She was the widow of Vincent J. Musewicz who died Nov. 11, 1987. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Louise Brown Murray. She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and formerly was employed by the Scranton Electric Co.
Surviving are five sons: Thomas Musewicz and wife Suellen, Scranton, Vincent Musewicz and wife Diane, Scranton, Joseph Musewicz, Scranton, John Musewicz and wife Gail, Throop, and Michael Musewicz with whom she resided, and a daughter Mary Bradford and husband William, Bethlehem. Also a sister Ruth Edmunds, Scranton. Also Grandchildren; Maggie, Sarah, Matthew, Jonathon Musewicz and Julie Grocki and husband Chester, Maria VanNorman and husband Ryan,Kim O'Connor and Husband S/Sgt. Sean, Scott Musewicz and wife Erin, Christopher and Nicole Poplawski, Emily, Robert and Maggie Bradford, and great grandchildren Tyler O'Connor, Kylie, MiKayla and Carter Musewicz and Jackson VanNorman. Also nieces, nephews and close friends she considered family Sheila and Tom Kohut and daughter Emily. She was also preceded in death by a sister Winifred Emmel.

Lucy Sgobba
Lucy Sgobba, 93, a Scranton resident, died Christmas Day at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Sgobba on January 29, 1986. Born May 20, 1914 in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Sabato and Josephine Stefan Panulla. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. Prior to her retirement she was the owner of Sgobba's Market in South Scranton. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the most important part of her life. She lived each day for them. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Allied for their kindness and time spent taking care of her.
Surviving is a son John Sgobba and wife Helen, Avoca, four grand children:Mark J. Sgobba and wife Lisa, Lenny Sgobba and wife Michelle, Lisa White and husband Randy and Lori Pellegrino and husband Evan, two great grandchildren: Mark Sgobba and wife Dominique and Justin White and wife Kara. Also surviving is a sister Josie Luclanchuk, Olyphant and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister Mae Bonick and seven brothers Phil, Alfonzo, Patsy, Joe, Max, Jimmy and John Panulla.

Marion A. Held
Marion A. Held, 97, a former South Scranton resident, died Thursday December 20, 2007, in Southern Ocean City Hospital, Manahawkin, NJ. She was the widow of Alfred Held and the couple was married for 67 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mathilda Martin Fisch. She was a former member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a vice president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was presently a member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church, Berlin, NJ. While residing in Scranton, she was formerly employed by Scranton Electric Co., Scranton Dry Goods and George's Lunch.
Surviving is a son John Held, Pennsauken, NJ., and seven grandchildren: Lisa Swantek, with whom she resided and Scott Held, Tracy Hofmann, Lynn Angelo, Laurie Kloiber, Steven and Shawn Jones. also 9 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Dorothy Jones and a brother Paul Martin.

Lois M. Palko
Lois M. Palko, 77, a South Scranton resident, died Monday, December 24, 2007 in Mercy Hospital. She was the widow of Albert J. Palko who died April 3, 2002 and the couple was married for 51 years. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Theresa Scheller Zenke. She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and was a volunteer at the Nativity School Lunch Program. In her younger years she was active in the Catholic daughters church organization of St. Mary of The Assumption Church. She was a retired employee of Casual Sportswear and was an avid bunny figurine collector. Family and friends were the most important things in her life.
Surviving are two sons Randy Palko and wife Ann, Peckville and Gregory at home, three daughters Andrea Kanuik and husband William, Olyphant, Beth Nihen and husband Chick, and Lori Conniff and husband Scott, all of Scranton, five grandchildren David and Christy Nihen and Christopher, Brandon and Erica Conniff, two sisters Mary Dovan, Fairport, NY and JoAnn Chase, Scranton and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son Jeffery. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the August J. Laura Kays Hamilton
Laura Kays Hamilton, 41, a Scranton resident, died Thursday December 20, 2007 in CMC shortly after being admitted. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of William and Linda Wilfong Kays, Scranton. She was educated in Scranton Schools and attended Marywood University. A homemaker, Laura will be remembered for her kindness and her generosity.
Also surviving are her children Michael Galli, Brianna Galli and Elyssa Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton, all at home. Also two brothers Brian Kays and wife Cindy, Virginia Beach, VA. and Christopher Kays and wife Lori, Scranton, and four nephews. Also Aunts and Uncles survive. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents Richard and Sonora Meng Wilfong and her Paternal Grandparents William and Dorothy Dolan Kays.

Mary P. Kich
Mary P. Kich, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in Mercy Hospice. She was the widow of George Kich who died July 7, 1978. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Grill Poskonski. She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a retired employee of Costa's Drugs. She was involved with the Senior Craftsmen Center and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are three sons Michael Kich and wife Susan and David Kich and wife Judy, all of Scranton and Martin Kich and wife Sandra , Lima, Ohio, a daughter Elizabeth Kich, Scranton. Also five grandchildren Shannon Lewis, Nicholas Kich, Michael Kich, Alison Kich and Dylan Davis and two great grandchildren Gage Lewis and Austin Lewis and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother Joseph Poskonski and two sisters Margaret Poskonski and Dorothy Thrapp.

Dolores C. Savitsky
Dolores C. Savitsky, 78, A South Scranton resident, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Mountain Rest Nursing Home. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Catherine Sowinski Savitsky. She was a member of Sacred Heart's Church and was a retired employee of Bona Fashions. She enjoyed dancing, sewing and gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother who shared her wisdom with her family.
Surviving is a daughter Geraldine Karsnak and husband, John, Mt. Cobb and two sons Paul Smith, Scranton and John Smith and wife Michelle, Throop, a brother Anthony Savitsky, Scranton and a sister Florence Yorkanis, Englishtown, NJ. , a sister-in-law Helen Savitsky, Scranton and a granddaughter Maryann Smith, and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother Joseph Savitsky.

Joseph Collins
Joseph Collins, 97, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday evening, December 13, 2007, at home. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Celia Murray Collins. He was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and was a retired employee of the US Post Office. He was formerly employed by the Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania. He was an Army veteran of WWll.
Surviving are cousins including Margaret Robinson, Maureen Robinson, his caregiver, Margie Robinson, Martin Kennedy, Judy Gillern and PJ Gillern. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Mary and Jean Collins. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9AM from the August J. Christine Dorio Dudzinski
Christine Dorio Dudzinski, 78, a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at home after an illness. She was the wife of Walter Dudzinski and the couple was married for 54 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Salamido Dorio. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a member of it's Class Reunion Committee since the 25th anniversary. She was formerly employed at Pricci's market for many years. She was a member of the Zonta Club, Lackawanna Council 17, Pokeno Club, and the Young At Heart Club.
Also surviving are three sisters; Pauline Long and Theresa Haefele, Scranton and Rose Sarcinelli, Vienna, VA., a brother Martin Dorio, Scranton and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four sisters; Josephine Dorio, Margaret Marseco, Marianne Ceresko and Mary Moran. The family extends a sincere thank you to Heartland Hospice and especially to Cheri, Cindy, Erin, Nicole, Chris and Michele for their kindness, caring and support.

Nancy J. Hiris Delligatti
Hawley, Pa. - Services will be held Saturday for Nancy J. Hiris Delligatti, 85, of Hawley, died at Belle Reve Senior Living Center, Friday, Jan. 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Delligatti, in 2006.
Born in Kimbles, to Joseph and Mary Svetitsch Hiris, she was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1942. Nancy graduated and eventually instructed at the Wilfred Academy in New York City.
As her career in hairstyling began, she earned several special awards and was the winner of eight trophies in styling from 1951 to 1953 for her creative designs. Nancy taught, lectured and was a platform artist at the M. Louis Salon in New York City. She was the first woman to win the World Supreme Hairstyling trophy in an international competition. Nancy also appeared on television as a hairstylist and had been involved in educational filmmaking.
“aunt Nancy” was beloved by her family and will be remembered fondly for her outgoing personality and kindness.
She was a member of BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley.
Surviving are two sisters: Catherine Koestner of Aliso Viejo, CA, and Dora Kump of Cleveland, OH, as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were: three sisters, Anna Baumeister, Helen Mortensen and Mary Hayden; and five brothers, Joseph, Frank, William, Harry and Peter Hiris.
There will be a Funeral Mass on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10 am, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 23, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. Interment will be at BVM Queen of Peace Cemetery.

LaRue Metz Krupp Slotter
Vass, NC - Services will be held Jan. 17 for Mrs. LaRue Metz Krupp Slotter, 84, of 708 Bald Eagle Drive, Vass, NC, formerly of Hatfield Lansdale, who died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Pinehurst ManorCare. She was the widow of Ambrose Herman Slotter.
Mrs. Slotter was the daughter of the late J. Paul and Catherine Metz Krupp. She was a Chief of Stewart of the CIAAFFL Union American Olean Tile in Lansdale for 31 years. She volunteered frequently at Vass-Lakeview (NC) Elementary with her dog Scooter and was a member of many Woodlake Organizations (NC).
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, January 14, 2009, pm at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 4888 US Hwy 1 South, Vass, NC, with Pastor Scott Homesley officiating. Additional services will be held today Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 3 pm at St. Peters Lutheran Church in North Wales with Pastor Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kulpsville.
She is survived by one son, Ronald L. Slotter and his wife Kathleen of Vass, NC; one sister, Virginia Leidy of Pennsylvania; one brother, Luther Krupp of Wyoming; two grandchildren, Brian and Michele Slotter; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two brothers, J. Paul Krupp, Jr. and Carl Krupp.

James V. Torre
Hawley, Pa. - Services will be held for James V. Torre, 91, of Fawn Lake Forest, Hawley, who died Friday, January 9, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Kathleen Miller, in 2003.
Born January 10, 1917, in Moonachi, NJ, he was the son of the late Dominick and Ida (DiFillipo) Torre. He served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic.
A Fawn Lake resident for 30 years, he was a retired electrician and a member of Knights Of Columbus Council 797, Hawley. He was an industrious individual who enjoyed his labors.
He is survived by: two daughters, Deborah Torre of Quebec, Canada, and Denise Dunn of Quakertown; one son, Daniel Torre of Honesdale; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
There will be a Prayer Service on Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 am at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor of BVM Queen of Peace Church, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Quakertown.

Karl Weber
Barryville, NY - Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6 for Karl Weber, 83, of Barryville, NY, a former resident of Roscoe Nursing Home and long time resident of the area, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at home. His wife of 62 years, Anna Mueller Weber, survives.
The son of the late Karl and Aloisia Gruber Weber, he was born April 25, 1925 in Czechoslovakia.
Karl was a retired machinist for American Can Co., Hillside, NJ, and also from the Narrowsburg Lumber Co. Shohola. He was a member of St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Shohola. A Family statement reads, “Karl was a loving husband, Father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to bowl, woodworking and the outdoors. He will greatly be missed by his family and all that knew him.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his daughter Marianne Yeaw and her husband Kenneth of Shohola; One son Karl P. Weber and his wife Catherine of Maplewood, NJ; One grandson Justin Weber and one great granddaughter Rose Weber; One stepsister Johanna Hetzer of Germany.
Karl is predeceased by two stepsisters Katherina Benner and Stefanie Weber.

Marylynn Profeta
Dingmans Ferry, Pa. - Marylynn Profeta 45, Dingmans Ferry, passed away Wednesday Feb. 17, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.
She was an Art Teacher for Delaware Valley Middle School, Westfall Township and was active with Odyssey of the Mind and Theatrical Set Design. Marylynn was a graduate of Marywood University, Scranton, PA, graduate of Wilkes University where she earned her Masters Degree and was a member of Phi Kappa Delta National Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
The daughter of the Louis Fiory and Nellie Dykstra she was born September 26, 1964 in East Orange, NJ. She was married to Richard Profeta.
Survivors include her husband, daughter Angela Profeta of Dingmans Ferry, PA; mother Nellie Carr of TN, Father Louis Fiory of Pittstown, NJ, sister Susan Fiory of Sparta, NJ, brother Robert Fiory of Franklin, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Gillette
Hawley, Pa. - Charles Gillette, 79, of Hawley died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Bethany Village, Bethany. His family was by his side when he died.
Born June 6, 1930, in Dunmore, PA, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Josephine (Ciero) Gillette.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Regina Helen Wendrick. They married on September 5, 1949.
A Hawley High School and Wayne Commercial School graduate, he was a Korean War Army veteran. A Hawley resident since 1933, he retired after 30 years from the United States Postal Service. He had also owned and operated Sandy Beach Motel for 16 years and worked at Yuba Fabricating Corp. After his retirement from the Postal Service, he owned and operated the Trading Post in Hawley for 10 years.
Mr. Gillette was a member of Knights of Columbus for 33 years and was past Grand Knight of Hawley Council #797 3rd Degree, past Faithful Navigator of #927 Bishop Hoban Assembly 4th Degree, member 4th Degree of Honor/Color Guard and had Honorary Lifetime Membership 4th Degree. In addition, he was formerly on the Board of Directors at two local banks and was a former member of the Board of Trustees at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He loved to travel, golf and was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. His favorite trip while traveling was to Guardia la Lombardia, Italy, in 2003. He was a member of the Gourmet Dinner Club for 37 years. He also had a hole-in-one at Red Maples Golf Course in South Canaan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Lori Gillette of Raleigh, NC; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Vicki Gillette of Detroit, MI, and Stephen and Patti Gillette of Portland, OR; one brother: Albert Gillette of Hawley, PA; and four grandchildren: Michael, Melanie, Kamil and Karolina.
He was predeceased by a brother, Guy Gillette, and a sister, Rose Marie Bebensee.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 10 am at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor.
