Mary McGuiness Klee Roche, 94, a resident of Beverly Health Care Center, formerly of South Scranton, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in CMC Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband Jacob Klee and her second husband Thomas Roche. Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ellen Carr McGuiness. She was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church. Surviving is a son, Former Scranton Police Chief James Klee, Scranton, two grandchildren and one great grandson, and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Klee and a brother, Joseph. The funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 AM in St. John The Evangelist Church by Msgr. Stanley Piorkowski. Interment , Cathedral Cemetery. Pallbearers: Frank Roche, Harvey Applegate, Former Mayor James Connors, Michael Kreischer and Walter Kreig. Bartha F. Miller
Bartha F. Miller, 87, of the Village of Orange, Franklin Twp.( formerly of Forty Fort) died peacefully, April 28, 2006 , in her own home under Hospice Community Care, surrounded by her family and devoted caregivers. Born July 19,1918 in Thorofare, NJ., a daughter of the late Howard B. and Elizabeth Leonard Feltman. She was a graduate of Cheltenham High School, Elkins Park, Pa. Mrs Miller was a graduate of Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pa. and Pierce Business College. She was employed as a legal secretary in the Attorney General's Office in Philadelphia where she met her husband of 53 years, Frank Miller who preceded her in death. Mrs. Miller was a member of daughters of The American Revolution; Harmony Chapter # 58, Order Of The Eastern Star; Irem Temple Women's Auxiliary, and the Wyoming Valley Women's Club. Surviving are her brother Howard Feltman, Cornwall,Pa; a son William H. Miller and a daughter Suzanne M. Haas, Village Of Orange, Dallas. Also grandchildren: Dr. Shawn W. Miller, Jessica Miller , Billy Miller and two great grandchildren. In lieu of a memorial service, those of you who remember Bartha should take a quiet moment to reflect on the laughter and the memories you shared with her, and then, upon remembering, hug tightly the people and pets you love dearly. She has rejoined her husband so he can give her his customary and affectionate pat on the behind, and they will walk, laugh, golf, play cards, and travel once again. Florence Marsala
Florence Marsala, 92, a resident of Wesley Village, formerly of South Scranton, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 in Ascera Care Hospice at Mid Valley Hospital. She was the widow of the late Bennie Marsala who died in 1985. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Serafina Cala Occulto. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and formerly was employed locally in the garment industry. She was a member of the ILGW Union. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. Surviving is a daughter, Carol Beadle, Scranton and a son Joseph, Throop, a sister Helen Nuzzalo, West Pittston. Three grandchildren: Pamela Bradshaw and Nick and Ben Beadle and 5 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother Joseph Occulto and two sisters: Madeline Lombardi and Mary Macciche and a great grandson, Johnathon. Anna Saraceni, 94, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Moses Taylor Hospital. Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Giovanna Floria Mattiace. She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.
Surviving are two nephews Richard and Joseph DeLorenzo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sr. Diane Saraceni, IHM. and by a brother, Joseph and 4 sisters: Marie, Margaret, Annette and Clara.

John Hugh Barrett (Jack)
John Hugh Barrett(Jack), 74, A resident of the Gino Merli Veteran's Center, a former South Scranton resident, died Friday, April 7, 2006 in the VNA Hospice at Moses Taylor Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He and his wife, the former Paulette Costanzi, would have celebrated their 51st anniversary on June 4th, 2006. Born and raised in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Willard and Ann Ruddy Barrett. He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church, and was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1951. He retired from an administrative position at Chamberlin Manufacturing where he was employed for 40 years. He was a Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Wasp, US Navy.
He enjoyed golfing, cooking, fishing and especially loved time with his grandchildren. Also surviving are two daughters: Denise Spinelli and husband, Robert, Moosic, and Claudine Barret, Brooklyn, NY., two sons: Shawn Barrett and wife Kathy Nolan Barrett, Clarks Summit and Todd Barrett, Scranton. Also a sister Ann Alice Nykaza, Newton, NJ. , a brother, Willard Barrett, Libertyville, IL., Three grandchildren: Nolan Barrett, Michael and Mia Spinelli and nieces and nephews.

Charles D. Brown
Charles D. Brown, 85, a resident of Moscow, died Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Mountainview Care Center. His wife of 39 years is the former Ruth Alice Kizer. Born December 15, 1920 in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles D. and Carrie Doehler Brown. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1939. Charles attended Penn State Extension and the University Of Scranton.
He was a World War 11 army veteran with the rank of Staff Seargent. He served in the 333 Quarter Master Company, Depot Supply Company. He served in England, North Africa, Algeria, Tunisia, Italy and France. He was awarded the European Theatre Medal with five stars and the European Victory Medal. Following the War, Charles became a licensed Professional Engineer.
He also was a Master Plumber. He was a retired employee of Gilboy and O'Malley Consulting Engineers. He was a member of American Society Plumbing Engineers. Among Charles's career accomplishments was contributing to the refurbishment of The Statue Of Liberty. He was a member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, Peter Williamson Lodge # 323, F. and A. Masons, Keystone Consistry, Irem Temple and the Shrine Club.
Also surviving are two daughters: Carol Cron, Dunmore, and Karen Nindorf, Candlewood Lake, Ct., and two sons: Charles Marshall Brown, Scranton , and Keith Kizer, Guilderland, NY. and 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rollin.

Mary T. Connolly
Mary T. Connolly, a Clarks Summit resident, died Wednesday evening, March 1, 2006 in Scranton. Her husband of thirty-nine years, Joseph F. Connolly preceded her in death in 1985. Born in Scranton June 23, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes Reilly Gallagher. She had resided in Clarks Summit for the past twenty-three years and was formerly a resident of South Scranton. She was a member of St. Gregory's Parish, Clarks Green, and formerly was a member of St. John The Evangelist Parish and was a past president of it's Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a former member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church. Prior to retirement, she had been employed at Harper and Row Publishing Company. She also served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and was involved in the mother's Club at South Catholic High School. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1935. The lives of those who knew Mary were deeply enriched by her love, grace, compassion, strength and wit. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all. Surviving is a daughter Maureen Curry and husband Att. Peter, Lake Naomi and two sons Dr. Joseph W. Connolly and wife Evelyn, Clarks Summit, and Jerome Connolly and wife Patricia, Moscow. Marie A. Culkin, 91, a South Scranton Resident, died Saturday evening, February 25, 2006 in MountainView Care Center. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine May Culkin. She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society and the Mallonkrodt Auxiliary. She was an employee of Haddon Craftsmen for 44 years and was a member of the Graphic Communications Int'l. Union, local 97. She also belonged to the Catholic Golden Age and AARP. Surviving are nieces and nephews including Michael Philbin, Colchester, Ct. and Thomas and Patrick Culkin, Scranton and cousins including Jack and Helen Phillips, Minooka. Frank M. Winters
Frank M. Winters, 72, a Scranton resident, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 in Mercy Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He and his wife, the former Joan Sporer, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 21st. Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Andrews Winters. He was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary's High School. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War who served proudly on the U.S.S. Baltimore. Frank was active for many years in the Boy Scouts and served as a district commissioner. He personally attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was especially proud to award his two sons and grandson with their Eagle Scout awards. Frank was a skilled electrician by trade and retired after 23 years of service with the Scranton State Office Building. He was a loving husband, Father, son grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Also surviving are four children, Robert, Kathy Terry and husband James; Frank and wife Christine; Jackie Munley and husband Michael. He also had 6 grandchildren, a brother, Carl and wife Karen, Albany NY., and a sister Mary Bellopede, Philadelphia, and neices and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 AM from the August J. Mary Luciani, 96, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, in Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Lucian Luciani who died in 1981. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clotilde Severino Mariani. She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a retired employee of Linder brothers. She was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful example of love, kindness and caring to her family and all who knew her. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and will be greatly missed. Surviving are a son Joseph and wife, Catherine, Tucson, Az, a daughter Lucille O'Malley and husband Jerry, Scranton, a granddaughter Laura Barton and husband, Jerry, Phoenix, Az. 5 grandsons: David Luciani, Tucson, Az., John Luciani and wife Laura, Tucson, Az., Ryan O'Malley, North Hollywood, Ca., Scott O'Malley, El Segundo, Ca. Jeff O'Malley, Scranton and 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and Angelo Mariani and an infant son Thomas. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Frances McCall Williams. She was raised in the Catholic Faith and was a friend of St. John's United Church Of Christ in Orwigsburg. John J. (Jack) Williams, 53, a Scranton resident, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in the Hospital of The University Of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was the husband of Joanne Coggins Williams and the couple was married for 31 years. Born in Scranton, he is the son of Josephine Gronski Williams, Scranton, and the late John H. Williams. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He was a 1970 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and attended Johnson's School Of Technology. He was a member of the Army Reserves for 6 years and was an employee of the Scranton Sewer Authority. He was a loving and devoted husband, Father, son, brother and brother-in-law. He was a friend to everyone he met and was an avid Penn State and Miami Dolphins fan. Also surviving is a daughter, Carly, at home, four sisters: Susan Jennings, Ann Katorkas and Maria Williams, all of Delaware and Jean Monahan, Scranton and nieces and nephews. Eleanor L. Day, February 3, 2006. Eleanor L. "Nono" Day, 89, a former South Scranton resident, died Friday, February 3, 2006 in Holy Family Residence. She was the widow of Joseph A. Day, who died April 2, 1988. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Kathryn Fenton Corrigan. She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and it's choir. She was a graduate of Lackawanna College and was employed for 35 years by Mercy Hospital. She was a member of the Catholic Woman's Club and served as a Vice President and Corresponding Secretary. She was a member of Friends of Holy Family Residence and was a former member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed. She was a woman of deep faith and enriched the lives of her family, especially her nieces and nephews who honored Eleanor as a second mother. She also loved her Holy Family Residence family. Surviving are two sisters: Nancy Smith and Catherine (Kitty) Baas, both of Scranton and nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by five infant children and three sisters: Mary Connolly, Sr. Norita Corrigan, IHM and Kathryn Corrigan.. Also by two brothers: Luke and John Corrigan. Robert J. Taylor, 61, a resident of Carbondale, died Friday, January 20, 2006 in Marian Community Hospital. He was the husband of the former Mary Ann Piasecki. Born in Scranton, he was a member of St. Rose Of Lima Church, was formerly employed as a mason for Joseph DeStefano Construction and was a volunteer for the Humane Society and for local fund drives.
He was a loving husband, Father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed. Also surviving are two sons: Leonard Stormin and wife Heather, of Dauphin,Pa.,Robert J. Taylor, Jr., Moscow. Four daughters: Sandra Richards and husband Roy, Carbondale, Kim Huegal, Archbald, Eve Taylor, Carbondale and Marie Marone, Scranton. Five brothers Frank, James,Michael and John, all of California and Martin, Moscow. Two sisters Nancy Mundy and Patricia Mosier, both of California. 13 grandchildren: Christopher G., who resides with him, William, Seth, Christopher V., Jessica, Nicole, Bobby, Bradley, Patrick, David, Eva, Anthony and Alina. Also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.

Jean M. Nealon
Jean M. Nealon, 70, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in Mercy Hospice after an illness. She was the widow of Martin J. Nealon Sr who died January 7, 2001.
The couple was married for 41 years. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Gilligan Kelly.
She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was employed locally in the garment industry. She was a member of the ILGWU.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, sister and Nana who will be deeply missed. She loved her trips to Atlantic City, enjoyed listening to the Irish Baladeers, watching QVC and the Scranton City Council Meetings.
Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving is a son, Martin J. Nealon, Jr, Moscow, two daughters: Kelly Burdick, Taylor and Mary Ellen Swartz, Moosic. Four brothers: Frank, Old Forge, Jack, Dickson City, and Jerry and Thomas, both of Scranton, 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Browning and a brother Robert.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church, Orchard St. to be celebrated by Msgr. Michael Delaney, Pastor. Interment , Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Therese C. Polster, 78, a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday morning, December 28, 2005, in CMC Hospital after an illness. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth, Sr. and Florence Spohrer Polster.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and was formerly was employed by Supreme Laundry. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a loving sister and aunt who greatly enjoyed her family and will be greatly missed.
Surviving is a sister, Marita Guziewicz and husband Joseph, Scranton, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was also proceeded in death by a brother, Kenneth Polster, Jr. and a niece and goddaughter, Elaine Verespey.

Nan M. Snyder, 83, a South Scranton resident, died Friday, December 23, 2005 in Moses Taylor Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert C. Snyder, Sr. who died in 1966. Born in Moosic, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Dougherty McAndrew. She was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral Parish and was a former member of Nativity Of Our Lord Parish.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed life and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to many.
Surviving is a daughter, Jill, with whom she resided, two sons: John and wife, Anne, Stafford, Va. and William and wife Katy, Clarks Summit, 11 grandchildren: John Snyder, Jr, Robert C. Snyder III, Nan Quinlan, Brigid Ephault, Robert E., James, Tracy, Zachary, Joshua, Emilee and Zoie Snyder., great grandchildren: Caitlin, Sage, Quinn, Devon, Emily, Garrett, Sydney Snyder and Robert Quinlan, Adhan and Seamus Ephault. Also, nieces and nephews including Mary Ann Snyder, a loving niece.
She was preceeded in death by two sons: Robert C. Snyder, Jr. and Richard Snyder. She was also preceded in death by 8 brothers and 7 sisters. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 9:30 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church, 630 Orchard St. Interment , Cathedral Cemetery.

Mabel M. Earley
Mabel M. Earley, 90, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in Mountain Rest Nursing Home where she had been a guest since November of 2001.
She was the widow of Walter J. Earley who died July 6, 1989. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Miller Quinn. Born April 9, 1915, in the homestead at 738 Birch St., Scranton where she lived most of her life before moving to Geneva House in 1991 and Lutherwood in 1993.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of The Assumption Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society and the Mallinckrott Auxiliary. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Commercial Course in 1931.
Prior to her marriage June 29, 1946, she worked at Woolworth's and the A&P Bakery. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be missed.
Surviving is a son Harold and wife Mari-Anne, Scranton, two daughters: Patricia Trojanowicz and husband, Robert, Peckville, Kathleen Rine and husband Steven, Danville, two granddaughters, three grandsons, one step granddaughter, one great grandson, two step great grandsons, nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Francis, Harold, Robert and Edwin and one sister Delores.
The funeral will be Friday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc. 202 Pittston Ave with Mass at 9:30 Am in St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, River St. by Msgr Dale Rupert, Pastor. Interment , Cathedral Cemetery.
