Carolyn L. Browning of Waymart, formerly of Buford, Ga. died Nov. 7, 2007, in the Gresen Ridge Health Care Center, Scranton, Pa. She was the widow of the late Ellis A. Browning.
She was born in Buford, Ga., daughter of the late Hugh W. and Virginia Nix Hunt.
Surviving are two daughters Celia Gail Robinson and Husband Mark of Waymart, Freda West and Husband Reid of North Carolina; 5 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt 296, Gravity Rd Lake Ariel, the family will receive visitors from 1:30pm until service time.

Scott D. Smith

Scott D. Smith, Lake Ariel, died Saturday at home after being stricken ill. His widow is the former Donna M. Mamolite.
Born is Staten Island, N.Y. son of Edward Smith, Fl., and Laura Peterson Moschella, Fl., he was self-employed as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish.
He was a loving husband, Father and friend to many and loved driving his truck cross country.
Also surviving are a son Scott, Jr. and a daughter Skye, both at home; a brother Dane and sisters Shannon and Gene Marie all of Florida; two nieces and one nephew.
The Blessing Service will be Friday at 10:30am in the James
Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
Friends may call Friday morning from 8:30am-10:30am.
Cremation will take place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Marie A. Freiwald

Marie A. Freiwald, of Piscataway, NJ, died Monday morning at home after an illness. Her husband is Richard K. Freiwald.
Born in Ledgedale, daughter of the late Joseph and Regina Reidy Madden she was a graduate of Roselle Park High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Ledgedale and Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway, NJ. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Westinghouse.
Surviving are sons Kenneth J, Dennis R, and Richard A; daughters Kathleen Marcaly of and Patricia A McNulty all of New Jersey; brothers Dr. Donald Madden of New Jersey, Lawrence Madden of North Carolina, and Patrick Madden of Virginia; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two sisters Jean Laukaitis and Margiurite Madden.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:45am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Mary’s Church, Ledgedale.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm.

Doris M. Davis, RN

Doris M. Davis, RN, Lake Ariel, died Friday after an illness in the Brighten at Julia Ribuado Senior Care Center. She was the widow of John W. Davis who died in 2004.
Born in Bradley Beach, New Jersey daughter of the late John W. and Margaret Gant Lyon. She was a 1933 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, New Jersey. She was a member of the St. Thomas More/St. Mary’s Parish Community, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a nursing supervisor at the Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, New Jersey.
Surviving are a son Alan J and his wife Patricia of Bethlehem; daughters Carol R. O’Neill and her husband John of Newton, NJ and Lynn Lindner and her husband Jerry of Gouldsboro; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a sister Barbara Van Sise; brothers Frank and Raymond Lyon.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church, Ledgedale.

John E. Venesky

John E. Venesky, 70, a life long resident of Lake Ariel, died Friday in the Community Medical Center after
a brief illness. His wife is the former Sally Barrett. They had celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on June 16, 2007.
Born in Lake Ariel, son of the late John and Mary Venesky. He was a graduate of Lake Consolidated High School and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Newfoundland. He was employed by the Western Wayne School District in the Transportation Department, prior to retirement he had worked for 27 years as the maintenance manager at Indian Rocks in Ledgedale. He was a long time member of the Salem Twp. planning commission and a certified Pennsylvania water works operator with a certificate in pesticide control. After retirement he started Venesky Excavating Company.
He was a quiet, caring, and loving husband and Father.
Also surviving are a daughter Michele and her husband William Craft of Lake Ariel; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Pawloski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Newfoundland.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-6pm and Monday from 8:30-9:30am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 , 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel and Monday from 8:30-9:30am.

Louise LaBar, 92, Lake Ariel died Monday in the Brighten at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center after an illness. She was the widow of James LaBar who died in 1998.
Born in Watchung, New Jersey, daughter of the late Frank and Nelly Schneider Jannelli.
Surviving are a daughter Bonnie Arnold and her husband John of East Stroudsburg; brother Frank Jannelli of New Jersey; a sister Clara Stragard of Nevada; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a son Richard LaBar.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
Lynita Camin

Lynita Camin, 92, Lake Ariel, formerly of Carbondale, passed away Sunday in the Wayne Woodlands Manor after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the widow of Carl Camin who passed away in 1976.
Born in Galilee, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Hattie Brooks Canfield. She was a graduate of the Damascus High School and the Wayne Commercial School. She was a former member of the Carbondale First United Methodist Church. Prior to a Florida retirement she had been employed as a paralegal for Atty. Louis A. Fine in Honesdale for 50 years.
She loved to travel, having visited 35 countries with her late husband. She was active in various church groups in Carbondale and Leesburg, FL. and was a volunteer in the hospital in Leesburg. She cherished time spent with her family.
Surviving are a daughter Sharon Birmelin and her husband Fred “Chip” of Lake Ariel; a son Lynden Carl and his wife Margaret of Pittsfield, MA; a sister Laura McBride of Monticello, NY; and her beloved granddaughter Lyndsay J. Birmelin of Lake Ariel.
She was preceded in death by two infant daughters Lynda Dianne and Lynda Carol; brothers Kermit and Kenneth; and a sister Beulah Wolfram.
Graveside services will be held in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee Saturday November 3rd, 1 p.m.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Steven V. Palacino, Lake Ariel, died unexpectedly Saturday.
Born November 8, 1985 in Queens, NY son of Robert A. and Marie T. McDermott Palacino of Lake Ariel. He was a member of the Living Word Fellowship Church in Beach Lake. He was employed by the Wayne County Prison as a corrections officer. He was currently serving in the in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Surviving are a maternal grandmother Elizabeth McDermott of Matamoris and a paternal grandmother Catherine Palacino of Maspeth, New York; a brother Robert of Lake Ariel; several aunts and uncles; cousins.
The Funeral will be Thursday at 10:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Naomi E. Butler

Naomi E. Butler, Mt. Cobb, died Monday evening in the V.N.A. Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center after an illness. Her husband of 63 years is Clarence Butler.
She was born in Scranton, daughter of the late George and Lillian Jones Williams. She was a member of the Hamlin Pentecostal Assembly of God Church and had been a former Superintendent of the Children’s Sunday School.
Also surviving are a son George and wife Janet of Lake Ariel; daughters Evelyn Sames and husband Douglas of Conyngham, Dixie Lee Murray and husband Rev. Edward of Petersburg, W.V., and Grace VanSickle and Husband Clyde of Lake Ariel; sisters Dorothy Coons and husband Richard of New Milford, Ruth Jayne and husband Robert of Archbald, Arlene Frederick and husband Robert of Wilmington, D.E., and Joan Kane and husband Gerard of Clarks Summit. 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Grace Williams and Pearl Black.
The Funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00am in the Hamlin Pentecostal Assembly of God Church Rt.191 Hamlin, with services by The Rev Edward Murray (Son-in-Law) and the Rev. Gordon White.

Richard C. Loughrey of the Hideout, Lake Ariel, Pa formerly of Succasunna, NJ died Monday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa after being stricken ill at home. His widow is tho former Mary Pat Donnelly, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April.
He was born in Orange NJ son of the late Joseph and Mary Hallett Loughrey. He was a graduate of West Orange High School. He was a member of St Thomas More/St Mary’s Parish Community, Lake Ariel. Prior to retirement he had been employed for 36 years by NJ Bell Atlantic as a senior staff manager. He was a member and one of the founders of the Hideout Woodwookers Club. He was also a army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was beloved husband, Father, grandfather, Brother, uncle and friend. He was a highly skilled woodwooking craftsman.
Surviving are a son Robert and wife Victoria of Warwick, NY, daughters: Pat and Husband Frank Everswick of Johnsonburg, NJ, Nancy and Husband John Donovin of Apex, Nc and Mary Kay and husband Michael Morelli of Sparta, Nj. brothers J. Robert of Lady Lakes FL, William if Mascotti, FL and Peter of Lakeville, Pa. Grandchildren: Megan, Alexander, Patrick, Joseph, Jack, Mallory.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 10 am in St Thomas More Church Corner of Route 191 and Tresslarville Rd, Lake Ariel.
Interment will St Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.
