VEARL C. PITTMAN
Vearl Clayton Pittman, 70, of Clear Ridge Road, Everett, formerly of Latrobe, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Rays Cove, a son of the late George W. and Mary Jane (Taylor) Pittman. On Aug. 10, 1954, in Cumberland, Md., he married Catherine M. Hillegass. She survives along with his two children, Ron V. and wife, Charlene (Roadman) Pittman and Nancy L. and husband, R. Michael Drake, both of Latrobe; grandchildren, Ron Jr. and Tessa Pittman and Cassie and Adam Drake; and brothers and sisters , Margie J. Koontz of Everett, George W. Pittman of Hollidaysburg, Miles D. Pittman of Gibson, N.C., Calvin T. Pittman of Everett and Sandy L. Krepelko of Berlin, Pa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lee Pittman and a sister, Vivian J. Bowser. Mr. Pittman was of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean conflict. Mr. Pittman was employed as a truck driver for Helms and Ryder P.I.E. in Irwin before retiring in 1984. He was member of Teamsters Local Union #30, Uniontown, the Loyal Order of Moose, Greensburg Lodge, the Everett American Legion Post #8, the Everett VFW Post #2088 and the Improved Order of the Redmen Wambic Tribe #507, Everett. Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the hour of services at 11 a.m. at the DALLA VALLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, West Main Street, Everett, with the Rev. H. Lee Ritchey officiating. Interment will be in Everett Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
JOHN THOMAS RICE SR.
John Thomas Rice Sr., 79, of Wilkins Township, on Sunday, June 4, 2000. John was the manager of manufacturing engineering for Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh Plant, when he retired in 1983 with 45 years of service. He proudly served as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines, both in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. He was a member of the board of commissioners in Wilkins Township for 14 years (1969 to 1983). He was a past president of the Westinghouse Foremen's Association. He was a former member of the Lion's Club of North Versailles, serving as treasurer from 1952 to 1954. He was also a member of the John Dayton Rodgers VFW Post 6681 in Wilkins Township. Cherished husband of Barbara (Kessler) Rice for 56 years. Son of the late Edward and Mary Rice. Beloved Father and best friend of Robert Rice of North Huntingdon, E. Duffy Rice of Murrysville, Joy Marie Staudt of Wilkins Township, and the late James and the late John Rice Jr. Grandfather "Pap" of Dustin, Brian, Jennifer, Eric, Jesse James, Jamee, James, Lindsay and Kasey Rice, and Scott Staudt, and the late Terri Shawn Rice. Stepgrandfather of Tara, Amber, Brandy, Misty, Josh and Christy. GLENNA MAE RISHER
Glenna Mae Risher, 81, of Vandergrift, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born March 31, 1919, in Gastown, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late J. Mark and Ilone Lawton Pickle. She had lived in Vandergrift most of her life. Mrs. Risher was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Vandergrift, where she had worked as secretary prior to her retirement. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the election board, both in Vandergrift. Survivors include two sons , Douglas L. Risher of Harrison City and Dwight L. Risher of Vandergrift; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Risher, in 1992; a sister, Merna Irwin; and two infant siblings. EDITH CLAIRE (COSHUN) SMITH
Edith Claire (Coshun) Smith, 79, of Pitcairn, died Friday, June 2, 2000. Wife of the late Walter D. Smith. mother of Barry D. Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Douglas C. Smith of Orlando, Fla. Also survived by three grandchildren. Edith was a World War II Army nurse in the European Theater. She had a nursing career of 40 years and was head nurse at Columbia Hospital in the newborn nursery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn. HARRY R. WILLIAMS
Harry R. Williams, 84, of North Huntingdon, died on Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born April 1, 1916, in East McKeesport, a son of the late Harry and Natalia Losttetter Williams. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Airbrake as a coremaker with over 49 years of service. He was a member of Sampsons Mills Presbyterian Church and also attended the Sewickley Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Brookmiller Williams; three sons , David A. and his wife, Pamela, of North Irwin, Daniel L. and his wife, Donna, of Sewickley, and Daren P. and his wife, Maryann, of Franklinton, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Paula A.) Gallaway of Liberty Borough; a sister, Emma Widdows of Palatka, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Robert McCorkle, Kelly Singleton, Mellisa McCombs, Brittany, Joshua, Paige, Hannah, and Haley Williams. Pauline A. Cindric, 60, of Bovard, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 13, 1939, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Eli and Anna Chuma Cindric. Prior to retirement, she had been a registered nurse at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Bovard, and the Nurses Association of Westmoreland Regional Hospital. She is survived by a brother, Paul and his wife, Val Cindric, and their son, Josh, of Greensburg; an aunt, Stella Olech of Greensburg; a niece, Cindy and her husband, Stephen Sikora, and their son, Joey, of Smithfield, Pa.; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. BEANA COLARUSSO
Beana Colarusso, 78, of Greensburg, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her home. She was born June 18, 1921, in Larimer, a daughter of the late Felix and Lucy Palangio Mitchell. Prior to retirement, she had been a cafeteria worker for St. Paul elementary and middle schools. She was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, and its Rosary Altar Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Colarusso, on March 25, 1967; and two brothers , Daniel and Joseph Mitchell. She is survived by four sons , James and his wife, Linda Colarusso, Darryl and his wife, Rosiland Colarusso, Mitchell and his wife, Donnell Colarusso, all of Greensburg, and Brian and his wife, Tina Colarusso, of Punxsutawney; two daughters , Bonnie and her husband, Edward Watkins, and Carla Colarusso, all of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Michelle and Laura Colarusso; a sister, Tina Felentzer of Harrison City; and two brothers , Nicholas Mitchell of Herminie and Ted Mitchell of Larimer. MARGARET TOMASHOSKY CROWELL
Margaret Tomashosky Crowell, 69, of Latrobe, died Saturday, June 3, 2000. She was born June 7, 1930, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Parachino Sarp. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown. She was a graduate of the Latrobe Area Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1951. She had worked at Latrobe Area Hospital as an R.N. for a number of years and was retired from Torrance State Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul George Tomashosky, in 1977; her second husband, Robert Crowell, in 1985; and a brother, Dr. Edward Sarp. She is survived by two daughters , Paula Bryson and her husband, Craig, of Latrobe and Kristine Wertz and her husband, Robert, of Latrobe; a son, Joseph Tomashosky and his wife, Terri, of Wexford; two brothers , Donald Sarp of Jeannette and Anthony Sarp of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Christine Veautour of Naples, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Paul and Marc Bryson, Jenna Tomashosky, Todd Dieguez and Robert III and Adam Wertz. Also survived by a special aunt, Mrs. Bea Zappone of Latrobe. Friends will be received at the JOHN J. HENRY J. DEGLAU
Henry J. Deglau, 94, of Latrobe, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at the Mountain View Nursing Home, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 1, 1905, the eighth of eight brothers and sisters born to Eva and Lewis Deglau. Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Edsall Deglau, a retired Derry Area school teacher, on May 27, 1986. He is survived by a son, Terry and his wife, Gretchen, of Fairport, N.Y.; a grandson, James of San Francisco, Calif.; a granddaughter, Sydney Ceren and husband, Mathew; two great-grandsons, Alexander and Ethan of Murrysville; and special caring relatives: nephews, Ed Deglau and wife, Kathryn and Lewis Kepple, and brother-in-law, Roger Maher. Henry photographed professionally for 70 years in Latrobe (1919 to 1989). He is best remembered for his talent and the meticulous care given to his beloved photography of school children and high school graduates. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Derry, a life member of the Professional Photographers of America and the Triangle Photographers Association of Pittsburgh (of which he was president in 1959), and held a master's degree and Photographic Craftsman with the Professional Photographers of America. Henry was best known professionally for his imagery, and won numerous photographic print awards, including the prestigious Schriever Award for the state of Pennsylvania . No visitation. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 11, at 4 p.m. in Unity Chapel, Latrobe, with the Rev. Ronald A. Brown of Trinity Lutheran Church, Derry, officiating. Emily Zula Aird Dorsey, 74, of North Irwin, died Friday, June 2, 2000, in Jeannette. She was born March 14, 1926, in Latrobe, the daughter of the late Jessie and Ruth Baughman Aird. She is survived by her spouse, Oscar H. Dorsey; two sons , Kip L. Dorsey and wife, Dolores, of Irwin and Dean L. Dorsey and wife, Susan, of Medina, Ohio; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Mosykoki and husband, Tom, of Jeannette; and six grandchildren. Arrangements by the VINCENT V. MELBA L. GALONIS
The staff at Greensburg Nursing and Convalescent Center Inc. regrets to announce that Melba L. Galonis, owner and administrator, died Friday, May 26, 2000. Melba worked seven days a week, 12 or more hours a day. She was a remarkable lady, who was graceful, elegantly dressed, with four-inch heels. Melba loved the elderly and always had time for residents, their families and the staff. She was a generous, kind and compassionate lady. Her loss is felt by the staff who lovingly called her mother Melbie. A memorial service will be held at the nursing home Thursday, June 8, at 7 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta, NHA, and tributes by the staff. All friends are welcome.

Mary Garbon, 84, of Mammoth, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 20, 1916, in Trotter, a daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline Raymond. She was a member of the St. Florian Catholic Church, United, and its Altar Society. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance Lodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A. Garbon Jr.; four brothers , Stanley, John, Joseph and Henry Raymond; and a sister, Antoinette Klocek. She is survived by a son, Andrew S. Garbon and wife, Martha, of Norvelt; five daughters , Mrs. Richard (Mary Ann) Uhrin of Mammoth, Cecelia Garbon at home, Mrs. Roger (Louise) Coole of Greensburg, Mrs. Regis (Carolyn) Adamrovich of Weltytown and Mrs. Raymond (Stephanie) Donati of DuBois; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters , Kathryn Coulson of Delmont and Mrs. Wendell (Cecelia) Inks of Uniontown; and several nieces and nephews. Betty Elizabeth Guy, 64, of Jeannette, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at home. She was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Wendel, a daughter of the late Dominick and Jenny Mondaglina Celio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Guy; a son, Gary Dean Guy; a daughter, Tammy Guy; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Mayes; a brother, James Celio; and a sister, Leah Farrier.
