Dr. Joseph L. Intelisano, D.C.N.D.

Dr. Joseph L. Intelisano, D.C.N.D., Lake Ariel died Friday in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. His wife is the former Elaine Marie Delia.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey son of Fannie Patti Intelisano of Fairfield, New Jersey and the late Joseph Intelisano, Sr. He was a graduate of Passaic High School, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Columbia Institute of Chiropractic Medicine. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel. He was a member and past president of the Garden State Chiropractic Society, member of the Pennsylvania State Chiropractic Society, and a past member of the Rotary Club, Hamlin. He was a self employed chiropractor for 40 years in Clifton, New Jersey, Hamlin, Pa and Laceyville, Pa.
Surviving are sons Joseph and his wife Jackie of Bradenton, Fl and Christopher De Tone and his wife Melanie of Clearwater, Fl; daughters Renee Intelisano of Mt. Arlington, NJ, Julie Intelsiano of Malden on Hudson, and Virginia Intelisano of Tampa, Fl, Amy Schneider and her husband Bill of Lake Ariel, and Kimberly De Sau and her husband Mike of Coppell, Tx; sisters Camille Intelisano of Verona, NJ and Patricia Cerrigone of Fairfield, NJ; grandchildren Ashley, Alexis, Grace, Faith, Hope, Rachel, and Gabrielle.
Dr. Joe belonged to a singing group in the late 50's called "The Tassels." They had a hit record song title "To a Soldier Boy" which reached number 55 nationally in the summer of 1959. He was an author of several books and articles pertaining to the Healing Arts and Alternative Medicine. Dr. Joe was granted a United States Patent on August 27, 2002 for inventing a food supplement/herbal composition for use as a health enhancement.

Michael P. Nolan

Michael P. Nolan, Syracuse, died Friday of an apparent heart attack.
Born in Scranton, son of William E. and Rosemary Spencer Nolan of Lake Ariel. Michael was employed as a commercial driver by the New Penn Trucking Company in Syracuse.
Michael enjoyed sharing time with his family and friends. He was always ready to extend a helping hand to family, friends and coworkers. May your remembrance of Michael always bring a happy memory to you.
Michael was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are a sons Shawn R. and his wife Katie of N. Syracuse and Christopher who is in the United States Army stationed in Virginia; a daughter Anna Rose of Myrtle Beach, NC; sisters Kathy O’Neill and Mary McClure both of Lake Ariel, his twin sister Rosemary Burchard of Scottsdale, Az; brothers William of Weirton, West Virginia and Patrick of Honesdale; a granddaughter Alaini Nolan of Northhampton.
Preceded in death by a son Ryan William Nolan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, corner of Gravity Rd. and Tresslarville Rd. Lake Ariel.

William H. Parry

William H. Parry, Hollisterville, died Monday at Mercy Hospital after an illness. Born in Madison Twp. son of the late Ellis and Amy Hartford Parry his wife of 61 years is the former Elsie Mead.
He was a graduate of Sterling High School, he was a 2nd Lt. Serving in the Army Air Corp. as a pilot during World War II in India and China, and prior to retirement he was partners with his brother Frank in Parry’s Garage, Hollisterville. He was a member of the Hollisterville Bible Church.
Also Surviving are sons Randall and his wife Maureen, Hollisterville, Thomas, Hollisterville, Lynn and his wife Lisa, Madisonville, Dale and his wife Malinda, Gouldsboro, Mark, Madisonville, Luke and his wife Morag, Bangor; a daughter Kathleen and her husband Bill Ferguson, Mt. Holly, NJ; a brother Richard, Port Jervis, NY; sisters Elizabeth Henwood, Lake Ariel, Ruth Skelton, Waymart; 9 Grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Frank and Homer; a sister Esther Hollister.

Michael G. Karkoska

Michael G. Karkoska, Lakeville, passed away peacefully on Sunday. His wife of 49 years is the former Evelyn Prosnak. Born in Jessup on April 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Petrillo Karkoska. He was a graduate of Hawley high school. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a union Mason in New Jersey. He was a member of St Mary’s Church Ledgedale. As a young boy his parents moved from Jessup to a farm in Lakeville. After high school he moved to New Jersey to begin his long career as a Stone Mason, he and his wife Evelyn made their home in Jamesburg, Nj for 45 years before moving back to Pa in 2002. He was charter member and past Exalted Ruler of The B.P.O.E 2180, a member of St James Knights of Columbus Council 6336 in Jamesburg, NJ. He also enjoyed Hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Also surviving are a son Paul and his wife Rose of Jamesburg, NJ, Daughter Michele and husband George Blandino of Bridgewater NJ. Sister in law Judy Sochoka of Greenfield Twp, Grandchildren Amanda and Nicholas Karkoska, Jennifer and Michael Blandino, Niece and nephew Jay and Lynn Sochoka and many cousins.
A mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:30am in St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Rd, Ledgedale to concelebrated by Rev Stanley Jarosz, Holy Trinity Church, Helmetta,nj and Rev Phil Altavilla St Thomas More/St Mary’s Church, Lake Ariel. Martha E. Shaffer

Martha E. Shaffer, Rochester, NY, died Wednesday at Rochester General Hospital after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Shaffer in 1985. Born in Mt. Cobb, daughter of the late Oliver and Clara Jones Meyers, she was a graduate of Lake Consolidated Schools and prior to retirement she was employed at McCurdy’s Department Store, Rochester, NY.
She was an avid gardener and enjoying spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters Joan E. Shaffer, Rochester, NY, Sarah Belles and husband David, Pittsford, NY; a sister Melba Abrolat, Moscow; a brother Roland Meyers, Lake Ariel; two grandsons David Belles and wife Rhonda, Canandaigua, NY, James E. Belles and wife Jean of Memphis TN; 6 great-grandchildren, Kassie, Matthew, Timothy, Joel, Steven, and Andrew; sisters-in-law, Doris Isger, Carbondale, Romaine Meyers, Lake Ariel.

Mary Ellen Cole

Mary Ellen Cole, Lake Ariel, died Friday morning in the Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Clarence Cole who died in 1984.
Born in Angels, Pa. daughter of the late Alfred F. and Sadi Megargle Beavers she was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Hamlin. She was a also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are sons Clay of Lake Ariel and Clarence of Madisonville; daughters Eva Hall of Lake Ariel, Edna Heller of Levittown, and Alane Lynn of Hamlin; a brother Edward Beavers of Maplewood; a sister Elsie Swingle of Lake Ariel; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two brothers Ralph and Norton; two sisters Nora and Elizabeth.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Ron Onder.

Jeanne Marie Ball Davis

Jeanne Marie Ball Davis, 68, Lake Ariel, died Friday at home after a battle with cancer. Her loving husband of 44 years was Lester Davis.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Jessie Hiney Edwards Ball and Russell Ball. She was a member of the Maplewood Grace United Methodist Church for over 55 years. She was a graduate of the Lake Ariel Consolidated High School and West Chester State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching career spanned 25 years from 1959 to 1997 where she was able to touch thousands of young lives in a positive way. She taught in the Western Wayne School District in Pennsylvania as well as in schools in Ft. Dix, NJ, Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Mid West City, Oklahoma. She was active in her church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Communion Stewart, Administrative Board Secretary, and Church Trustee. She was also active in the Emmaus community where she was a Table leader and a member of the Emmaus Board of Directors. She was also a member of one of the Western Wayne Scholarship Committees. Recently she wrote and published a 50th yearbook for her Lake Consolidated High School class fo 1955. She was also a VNA Hospice volunteer and found great joy in working in the Hospice community with her friend and associate Carol Schneider.
She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and school teacher. She was beloved by everyone. Her greatest joys in her retirement years was spending time with her grandsons Timothy and Christopher.
Surviving are sons Jeffery Edward Davis and his wife Rebecca Morgan Davis and Lester James Davis, Jr and his wife Patricia Tyler Davis; grandsons Timothy and Christopher Davis; a brother Russell Ball all of Lake Ariel; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 11am in the Maplewood Grace United Methodist Church Lake Henry Rd., Maplewood.

Boyd K. Chapman

Boyd K. Chapman, 81, Lake Ariel, died Thursday in the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit after an illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Moore Chapman in 1999.
Born in Lake Ariel, son of the late Kenneth and Ida Conklin Chapman. He was educated in the Lake Consolidated School. Prior to retirement he was the co-owner of Chapman Supply Plumbing and Heating, Chinchilla. He was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Hamlin. He was of the Christian Faith.
He loved his cats, Mittens and Snowball.
Surviving are a son Larry and his wife Libby of Broken Arrow, Ok; a sister Evelyn and her husband John Jane of Norristown; a brother Ray Chapman of Clarks Summit; a brother in law Harry Moore and his wife Dorothy of Lake Ariel; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am in the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Route 191 Hamlin officiated by Rev. Gordon White, pastor.

Charles R. "Bud" Felton

Charles R. "Bud" Felton 79, of Newfoundland, Pa died early Friday morning in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa. shortly after arrival. His wife of 57 years is the former Jean Booth.
Born March 26, 1927 in Trappe, Pa, son of the late Reaser F. and Emma Shellenberger Felton. He lived most of his life in Hatfield, Pa until retiring to Newfoundland, Pa in 1986. Prior to retirement he had been employed for 32 years by North Penn Transfer in Lansdale, Pa as a Truck Driver. He served in the Army Stationed in Japan during World War II earning the Army occupation medal and the World War II Victory medal. Bud was a hard working man who enjoyed hunting, boating and especially gardening.
Surviving two daughters: Karen Osecki of Hamlin, Pa. and Sandy Dillon and her husband Jim of Hatfield, Pa.; a brother Richard and wife Marge of Wellsboro, Pa.; grandchildren Becky Dillon-Hinchliffe and her husband Rich, Stefan Osecki, Megan Dillon, Jordan Osecki and Luke Dillon.
Several Nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a brother Robert and a son in law Mike Osecki.

Edward G. Tencza, Jr, Lake Ariel, formerly of Bayonne, NJ died Saturday evening in the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former Lorraine Alfano.
Born in Trenton NJ, son of Jessie Kakalec Tencza of Bayonne, NJ and the late Edward G. Tencza Sr. He was a graduate of Bayonne Vo Tech High School. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Staff Sgt Paul A. Sweeney American Legion Post 807, Hamlin. Prior to retirement he had been employed by Verizon Telephone Co for 32 years as a cable splicer and was a member of Telephone pioneers club. He also had been employed by Northeast Auto Auction in Scranton for the last year. He was also a member of the Local 827 IBEW Union and the Elco Boat Club of Bayonne, NJ.
Also surviving are two sons: Edward C. of Long Valley, NJ and Joshua L of Oakridge NJ; two brothers George of Marlton NJ and John of Cranford NJ; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt 296 Gravity Rd Lake Ariel.
