Marion M. Hazen

July 24, 2005

Marion M. Hazen, 84, of Pomona Park, Fl died Sunday in Putnam Medical Center after an illness. She was the widow of the late Willard Hazen.

Born in Waymart daughter of the late Guy and Martha Keigler Black. She was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the WAVS. She was a member and former treasurer of the Pilgram Congregational Church in Pomona.

Surviving are a daughter and son in law Phyllis and Al Langella of Ellenton Fl.; a son Willard Hazen of Orange Va.; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in the Resthaven section of Fairview Memorial Park Elmhurst, on Saturday morning at 11am.

Viola H. Herrmann

July 25, 2005

Viola H. Herrmann, South Canaan, died Monday at home. She was the widow of Carl R. Herrmann who died in 1988.

Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Teaneck, NY and moved to South Canaan in 1967. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Jane Aslet Clade. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a seamstress in Waymart.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and taught them great love, respect, and honorable intentions. She was her children’s rock. Always there for them no matter what the circumstance. She taught her  daughters that all life should be cherished. Before becoming ill she went to many animal rescue missions for Angels Grace and was known in many shelters as "Mom," a name she loved being called. She loved the feeling of saving animals lives in their final hours. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are  daughters Diane Herrmann of Tannersville and Linda Herrmann of South Canaan; her darling Chihuahua daughter Tuti who faithfully remained at her side till the end; a brother Raymond Clade of Teaneck, NJ; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister Irene Clade; brothers Gordon, Clinton, and Roland Clade.

The funeral will be Friday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. William Rushik.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm.

Interment, East Canaan Cemetery.

Kenneth J. Wislinski, Sr.
July 25, 2005

Kenneth J. Wislinski, Sr., The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died Monday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. His wife is the former Kathleen Todd.

Born in Staten Island, NY son of the late John B. and Ann Horvath Wislinski he was a graduate of Tottonville High School and the Middlesex County Community College in Edison, NJ. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a career serviceman in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Surviving are a son Kenneth J., Jr. of Lake Ariel;  daughters Karen A. Matragrano, Rebecca A. Bigelow, and Amanda J. Erli all of New Jersey; three grandchildren.

Blessing and military services will be held Thursday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hamlin Fire and Rescue Company PO Box 116 Hamlin, Pa. 18427.

James A. Ovens, Sr

James A. Ovens, Sr. a resident of Maben, Mississippi, formerly of Maplewood, died May 27, 2005 in the N. Mississippi Medical Center in Tupolo.

Born in Maplewood, son of the late William Ovens and Myrtle Major Black and step son of Stuart Black. He attended the Lake Consolidated School. He was of the Methodist faith. He was employed as truck driver.

Surviving are a son Jonathan Ovens of Dunmore; sisters Sarah Black and Elna Wargo both of Lake Ariel; two grandchildren Kathy Lee Ovens and Robert Martin; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by sons James, Jr. and Jeffery;  daughters Susan Ovens and Lourie Martin; a brother William Ovens, Sr.; sisters Betty Houpt and Margaret "Peggy" Boyle.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am in the Grace United Methodist Church, Maplewood by Rev’s John Craig and Wilbur Black.

Interment, Providence Cemetery, Maben, Mississippi.

Arsene J. Coria

June 26, 2005

Arsene J. Coria, Hamlin, died Sunday at home after an illness. His late wife is the former Mary T. Tomenchok.

Born in Princeton, NJ son of the late Nicholas and Elvira Carapressi Coria. He was a graduate of Princeton High School and attended The Hun School in New Jersey. He was of the catholic faith. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a model maker for the David Sarnoff Research Center. His model of the first refrigerator is on exhibit in the Smithsonian.

Surviving are a daughter Mary Ann Miller of Hamlin; a granddaughter Katherine Miller Ford; a great granddaughter Krystle Kamdyn Ford.

Preceded in death by a son Robert J. Coria.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family in the Princeton Cemetery, Princeton NJ.

David R. Mitchell, Jr.

June 26, 2005

David R. Mitchell, Jr., Scranton, died Sunday at home.

Son of David R. and Jo-Ann Marulli Mitchell Sr.

Surviving are brothers Keith Marulli of Branchburg, NJ, Phillip Mitchell of Moscow; a sister Karen Williams of Lake Ariel; maternal grandparents Victor and Rose Marulli and maternal great grandmother Gemma Vodolo of Branchburg, NJ; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. with services by Rev.’s Arthur Davis and Pat Lee.

Friends may call Thursday from 9am until time of service.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Cheryl A. Garrett

June 25, 2005

Cheryl A. Garrett, Eynon, died Saturday afternoon in the Mercy Hospital.

Born in Honesdale, daughter of Shirley Jenkins Uhl of Newfoundland and the late Chester Garrett she was a graduate of Wayne Highland High School and attended the Peckville Assembly of God Church. She was employed by Keystone Printing Specialties.

Surviving are two sons Francisco and Alejandro Garrett both at home; a brother Chet Garrett of South Canaan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10am to time of service.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family in Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery.

Kathryn Vonderhey Kruchinski

June 25, 2005

Kathryn Vonderhey Kruchinski, 81, of Moscow, died Saturday in the Mercy Hospital after an illness. Her husband is Anthony Kruchinski. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on May 14th.

Born in Scranton daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Ryan Vonderhey she was a graduate of the Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst.

She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who spent most of her time caring for her husband and family. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are  daughters Marlene Cassal and her husband Ettore of Lake Ariel and Linda Klim and her husband Charles of Moscow; sons Robert and his wife Roberta and Anthony and his wife Doreen all of Lake Ariel; sisters Martha Nicholoff of Dunmore and Carol Budnovich of California; a brother William Vonderhey of Harrisburg; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a daughter Karen Stark; an infant daughter Kathryn; two brothers Robert and Joseph Vonderhey.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Hester W. Enslin, RN

June 24, 2005

Hester W. Enslin, RN, Lake Ariel, died Friday in the Brighten at Julia Ribuado Senior Care Center after an illness. She was the widow of Carl H. Enslin, Sr. who died in 1989.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Clara McCauley Palmer she was a graduate of the Lake Vocational School and the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a private duty nurse.

Surviving are her son Carl H. Enslin, Jr. and his wife Sandy; a daughter Cora Sue Kobesky all of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Stephanie Buckman, Jason C. and Jamie C. Enslin; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers Robert, Frank, Berton, and Thomas Enslin; sisters Florence Palmer, Margaret Swingle, Clara Magalski, Elsie Valenches, Grace Palmer, Cora Mallard, and Marion Hunt.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Ron Onder, pastor of the Lake Ariel United Methodist Church.

Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.

Ella H. Kellogg

June 17, 2005

Ella H. Kellogg of Lake Ariel died Friday evening in Mercy Hospital, Scranton. She was the widow of Edward L. Kellogg.

She was born in Scranton daughter of the late Harry & Harriet Miller Hedglin. Prior to retirement she had been employed as a seamstress at Umholtz Mfg, Lake Ariel.

Surviving are a son Edward of Lake Ariel; sisters Frances Connolly of Lake Ariel and Betty Neefeldt of Roebling NJ; a brother Martin Hedglin of Shelton Ct. Several nieces & nephews.

Preceded in death by a son Roger Lee Kellogg.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10 am in Moscow Cemetery with services by the Rev. Ron Onder.
