Anthony J. Fazio, Lake Ariel, died early Saturday morning at home. His wife is the
former Linda LaCross.
Born in Rochester, Minnesota son of Dorothy Sbarra Fazio, RN, Dunmore and the late Dr. Anthony N. Fazio. He was a graduate of Bishop Reilly High School, New York, University of Scranton where he earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees, the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and NCO Academy. He was veteran of the 109th Infantry and the United States Air Force. He had been a teacher at Scranton Prep, Bishop O’Hara, Lackawanna Junior College, and Temple University. He was a 25 year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police retiring as a Corporal in 2003. He had served all three sections with Pennsylvania State Police: the Patrol, Criminal, and Staff Units. Where he served as a first responder, a recruiter, warrant officer, community service and public information officer, communications dispatch, criminal investigations, troop education officer, troop communications specialist, and patrol and shift unit supervisor. He was a charter member of the International Assoc. of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and the National Rifle Association. He was a former Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, a third degree Knight of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, Pa State Troopers Assoc., Adjunct for the Paul A. Sweeney American Legion Post 807, Hamlin, Military Vehicle Preservation Assoc., PHI DELTA KAPPA Educators Fraternity, the Police Marksmen Assoc., International Assoc. Chiefs of Police, Pa. Assoc. Of Private Investigators, Police Sportsmen Assoc., and the Hideout Sportsmen Assoc. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church.
Surviving are children Holly Brenner of Forest City, Tory Thompson, of Red Bank, New Jersey, and Cody Thompson of California; brothers Richard of Peckville, Peter of Cresco, Paul of Wilkes-Barre; a sister Margaret Tosh of Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Mass to be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Thomas More Church, lake Ariel.
Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Pauline Ruth Bohl

Pauline Ruth Bohl, Berwick, formerly of Lake Ariel, died Friday in the Berwick Retirement Village. She was the widow of Frederick Morris Bohl who died in 2002.
Born in Lake Ariel, daughter of the late Morton and Gertrude Conklin Moore. She attended school in Lake Ariel and was a member of the Bethlehem Church in Dover, New Jersey.. She had been employed a secretary for the Warner-Lambert Pharmacy in New Jersey.
Surviving are sons Donald E. of Berwick and Roger C. of Brunswick, Georgia; a brother Clifford Moore of Alabama; a sister Mary Gregory of Lake Ariel; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by brothers Edward, John, Morton, and Roger; a sister Beverly.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Ron Onder.
Friends may call Thursday from 9am until time of service.
Interment, Hamlin Cemetery.
Jean Toy

Jean M. Toy, Hollisterville, died Tuesday afternoon at home after an illness. Her husband was the late Earl M. Toy Jr.
She was born June 29, 1922 in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Elizabeth Neville and was a graduate of Sterling High School. She was a 60 year member of Harriet Greene Chapter No. 198 of the Eastern Star. She was also an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Hamlin.
Whether it was her weekly visits at the Senior Center with her friends or sitting on the porch during the summer with her family, she always had something to look forward to and enjoyed living her life.
Surviving are a son, David and wife Karen Toy, Hollisterville; a daughter, Elizabeth and husband Van Booth, Factoryville; a brother, William Neville, Hollisterville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by a son, Robert E. Toy.
Services will be held Friday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 pm with the Harriet Greene Chapter No. 198 of the Eastern Star service at 7pm.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Susan T. Lenko

Susan T. Lenko, Lake Ariel, died Friday morning at the Mercy Hospital. Her husband is Stephen Lenko, Jr.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Andrew and Mary Lipa Bazil, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School. She was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst. She was currently employed by L.A. mortgage company and previously had served as a branch manager of L.A. Bank in Mt. Cobb.
Surviving are a son Jason of Conshohocken, Pa.; a brother Andrew Bazil and his wife Barbara of Shavertown, Pa.; sisters Mary Ann Size and her husband Jim of Scranton, Pat Ubaldini and her husband Steve of Dallas, Pa., Ann D. Bazil of Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Eulalia’s Church, Elmhurst Monday at 10:00am with mass celebrated by Rev. John Polednak. Friends may call Sunday from 2-6pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.
Interment St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, Minooka.
All family and friends planning on attending the mass are asked to go directly to St. Eulalia’s Church, Blue Shutter’s Road, Elmhurst on Monday morning.
Antonina Gularowski

Antonina Gularowski, Waymart, Pa., formerly of Wallington, NJ died Monday in the Marion Community Hospital Carbondale, Pa. She was the widow of Leonard Gularowski.
She was born January 10, 1914 in Poland. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Antonina Kosazycka. Prior to retirement she had been employed in building maintenance in New York City.
Survived by family in Poland and her caregivers Mr. & Mrs Danuta Brzek and family of Wallington, NJ.
Preceded in death by a daughter Romaulda.
A Funeral Mass will Saturday at 11am in the Chapel at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, Ferry Rd. Doylestown, Pa. 18901

Ettore M. "Eddie" Casal

Ettore "Eddie" Casal, Lake Ariel, died Friday on the Community Medical Center after an illness. His widow is the former Marlene Kruchinski.
Born in Honesdale son of the late Manuel P. And Fernanda Fantini Casal he was a graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and Johnson Techincal School. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church. He had been employed by Thompson Electronics for 32 years and was currently employed by Arlington Industries. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
Eddie was a very devoted husband, Father, brother, grandfather and neighbor who was never happier then when he was with his three grandchildren. He always put others ahead of himself and was a friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are daughters Cathy Skirpan and her husband Greg of Cortez, Lisa Chowanec and her husband Jeff of Dickson City and Amy Casal of Lake Ariel; a brother Adrian of Dunmore; sisters Louise Brady of Long Island, NY, Angela Springer of Mt. Cobb, and Joan Seeley of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Sarah, Annie and Joseph Skirpan; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a sister Josephine.
The funeral will be Friday at 9am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with graveside services at 9:30am in the East Canaan Cemetery by Rev. Ron Altrui.

Sophie Karnick

Sophie Karnick, South Canaan, died peacefully at home Wednesday. She was the widow of Andrew Karnick who died in 1966.
Born May 16, 1905 in Galacia Poland daughter of the late Michael and Mary Wiesynke Naholnick. She immigrated to America in 1924 and resided on the family farm in South Canaan for the next 80 years. She was the oldest parishioner of St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church in South Canaan.
Sophie spent her life working on the family farm and loved to share her stories of her heritage and her younger years in the "Old Country."
She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are sons Peter and his wife Joan, Adrian and his wife Clarice, and Paul all of South Canaan; a daughter Mary Krohta and her husband John of Michigan; brothers John of South Canaan, Raymond of Lake Ariel, and Paul of Florida; sisters Anna Dragon of Mayfield and Helen Kuchmanich of Waymart; grandchildren Judy Spresset, Sandra Benavitch, Mary McDevitt, Julie Krohta-Whitmore, Diane Brace, Paula Herzog, Dan, William, and Steven Karnick, and Andrea Murray; great grandchildren Laura and Susan, Michael and Christina, Kyle and Garrett, Clare and Johnnie, Stacy and Carissa, Jennifer, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Mitchell, Lucas and Jacob, Lydia, Chloe, Cameron, Zachary, and Collin, and John; three great great grandchildren Matthew, Ryan, and Shawn; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Karen Karnick; a grandson John Karnick; two brothers Stephen and William Naholnick; a sister Tillie Luxmore; half sons Alex and John; half daughters Julia and Anna.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 10am in St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church by Bishop Tikhon.
Interment, St. Tikhon’s Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home Route 296 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel and Monday morning from 9am until time of service at the Monastery.

Carole E. Kamauraskas-Lipchus, Lake Spangenberg, died Wednesday in the Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. Her husband is Simon Lipchus, Sr.
Born in Scranton daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Kamauraskas she was a 1961 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Previous to her illness she was employed by the Price Chopper in Dunmore as a cashier and had previously been employed by Marywood University for 18 years.
Surviving are a son Simon, Jr. of Mt. Cobb; daughters Michele Novobilski of Dayton, NJ, Virginia Lipchus of Scranton, and Simone Brownell of Hamlin; a brother Frank of Scranton; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a brother Ronald; a sister Nancy Rosella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Noon in St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel by Rev. Edward R. Scott, pastor Emeritus.
Friends may call Saturday from 10am until time of Mass at the church.
Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

Catherine T. Booths, South Canaan, died early Saturday morning in the Wayne Woodlands Manor after an illness. Her husband is Vincent J. Booths.
Born in Bristol, Ct. daughter of Stanley and Malvinia Schilling Gorel of Waymart. She was a graduate of Waymart High School and was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Texas Hose Company # 4.
She loved bingo, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are sons Robert of Lake Ariel, Stanley of Honesdale, David and Michael both of Lake Ariel; a daughter Valerie Faatz of Lake Ariel and Josephine Allen of Maryland; brothers Stanley of Carbondale and Andrew of Honesdale; sisters Adele Parnell of Carbondale, Malvinia Hardler and Sophie Dunkle both of Shippensburg, and Ann Gorel of Las Vegas; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a son Vincent E. Booths.
