Victor D. Maisey
Shohola, Pa. - Funeral services will be held today for Victor D. Maisey, 58, of Shohola, who died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born November 24, 1949 in Milford, CT, he was the son of the late Victor Maisey and the late Helen Buckley Davenport. He was the past fire chief and member of the Shohola Township Fire and Rescue Dept. and was also a member of the Greeley Fire Dept.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah Lake, Matamoras; and two nieces, Samantha Lake, Catskill, NY and Victoria Lake of Bainbridge, NY.
Friends are invited to call Friday, Feb. 8, 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 11 am at St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Shohola, with the Chaplain Rolf Buchmann of the Shohola Twp. Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept. officiating.
Cremation, Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY.

Lina Mall
Hawley, Pa. - Memorial Services will be held today for Lina Mall, 96 of Hawley, who died Tuesday February 26, 2008 at Belle Reve Senior Living Center, Milford. She was married to the late Arthur F. Mall.
The daughter of the late Karl and Berta Frankle, she was born February 6, 1912 in Konigsbach, Germany. She was a member of the Green Village United Methodist Church, Green Village, NJ.
Survivors include two sons, Werner A. Mall of Hawley, and Volker Sherle of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Kristopher, Erika, Jody, Wendy; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held today, Saturday March 1, 11 am, at Green Village United Methodist Church, 500 Spring Valley Rd., Green Village, NJ, with Rev. Clarissa South Holland, officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Green Village United Methodist Church, 500 Spring Valley Rd., Green Village, NJ, 07935.

Mildred Furgele
Lakeville, Pa. - A Funeral Mass will be held for Mildred “Lucky” (Pliscott) Furgele, 75, Lakeville, who died March 9, 2008 at her home, following an illness. Her husband of 54 years, Frank J. Furgele survives. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. Pliscott and Regina Bean. A graduate of Exeter High School, Bloomsburg State Teachers College with a BS in Elementary Education and Speech, she completed graduate studies at West Chester State College. She began teaching in Centennial Schools, Buck County and later organized and supervised a nursery and pre-school in Richboro. Upon moving to Lakeville, she substituted and served part-time as a speech therapist for Intermediate Unit 19; organized the annual Sandy Shore Golf Tournament for 15 years and was co-chair of the Welcoming Committee; was a long-time member of the Locust Grove Assoc. Board of Directors; was a former member of the Hawley Woman’s Club; and she conducted many fund raising events for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends, a family statement reads. She will be remembered for her heartfelt smile, great sense of humor and determination. Lucky was an inspiration to all who knew her because she saw the good in everyone. She was a member of the BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, Hawley. She was a devoted Catholic and active in the BVM Parish as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion; and has initiated and organized the post funeral luncheon program; served as a member of the Baptismal Seminar Team; member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the Catholic Outreach program.
Also surviving are two sons, John and wife, Kathie, Glen Mills and James and wife, Jill, Ambler; a daughter-in-law, Regina Goggins, Wilmington, DE; grandsons, John, Michael, Matthew and Jacob; granddaughters, Frankie and Emily; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Frank Jr., a daughter Dawn Goggins, a son-in-law, Michael Goggins, and two brothers, Ernest and Fred Pliscott.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 15, 10 am in the BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, 319 Chestnut Ave., with the Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating.
Internment is private at B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley at the family’s convenience.

Leith L. Hoffman
Milford, Pa. - Funeral Services will be held for Leith L. Hoffman, 80, of Milford, who died at his home on Sunday, May 11, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne Hoffman.
Born on July 27,1927, in Port Jervis, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Edna Carpenter Hoffman. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus and was also a U.S. Navy Veteran and belonged to the Marsch-KeIlogg American Legion Post #139 of Milford. He was an active member in his community serving on the borough council and the Milford Fire Dept.
Also surviving are: three  daughters, Elaine Stinardo, Lorry Bauer and husband, Robert, Nancy Greer and husband, Neal; a brother, Vincent and wife, Myrna; four grandsons, Derrick Bauer, Kyle Bauer, Matthew Greer and Eric Greer; two nieces, Lisa Schneerman and Michelle Dimmick; and one great niece, Christina.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 14, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Patrick's Church ,111 High St. Milford on Thursday May 15 at 11 am. The Most Rev. Gerald Mullally will officiate.
Private internment in Milford Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Marvin A. Crenshaw
Greentown, Pa. - Funeral services will be held for Marvin A Crenshaw, Sr., 60, of Greentown, who died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Honesdale. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne B. Brown.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Clarence and Carrie (Johnson) Crenshaw. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was an industrial welder, after he served.
Also surviving are a son, Mark A., Greentown; a sister, Elizabeth Jones, Philadelphia; and a brother, Larry, Philadelphia.
Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa.

Michael J. Durkin
Melbourne, Fla. - A Memorial Service will be held for Michael J. Durkin Jr., 20, Melbourne, FL, formally of Hamlin and Newfoundland, who died May 14, 2008.
Born in Hamlin, son of Michael J. Durkin and Debra Zippi, Durkin, Caputo, he had been a student at BCC, Florida. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and a New York Giants fan. He loved to play baseball and be with his cousins and friends in the summer. He was a devoted son, brother, cousin, grandson, and nephew, a family statement reads.
Also surviving are step-mother, Debbie Durkin, Lake Ariel; step- Father, Frank Caputo, Melbourne, FL; two brothers, Luke Durkin, Lake Ariel and Damion Kamarauskas, Harrisburg; two sisters, Jennifer Durkin, Melbourne, FL, and Korryn Bogdan, Harrisburg; nieces, Whitley Kamarauskas, Sarah and Rachel Bogdan, Harrisburg; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Mary Durkin, Hamlin; maternal grandmother, Marcia Zippi, Mount Cobb; an aunt , Mary Ellen Boandl, Hamlin; an uncle, Joseph Durkin, Hamlin; two aunts, Mary Herner, and aunt Donna Laniewski; an uncle, Anthony Zippi; many cousins and good friends in Pennsylvania and Florida.
He is preceeded in death by maternal grandfather Anthony Zippi and an uncle, Andy Boandl.
A Memorial Service to be performed in Pennsylvania will be announced at a later date.

Joseph T. DeSane
Hawley, Pa. - Joseph T. DeSane, 55, of Woodledge Village, Hawley, died Tuesday, June 15, 2008 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife, Diane (Cluen) DeSane.
Born July 13, 1952 in Queens, NY he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Puccio) DeSane. He served in the U.S. Army and he was a musician.
Also surviving is a daughter, Jessica DeSane, FL; six sons, Joseph and John of NY, Jamie and Jared of FL, and Jeffrey and Jacob of Tafton; a stepdaughter, Sharrie Hajduk of PA; nine grandchildren; a sister, Denise Schmidt; and three brothers, Frank, of NY, Robert and Steven.

Helen Atkinson Gevert
Honesdale, Pa. - Services will be held for Helen Atkinson Gevert, 94 of Honesdale, who died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Honesdale. She was married to the late Ralph Atkinson for 49 years and the late Walter Gevert.
Helen was born in Honesdale, PA, the daughter of the late William and Philippina Barthelmes Tarkett. She attended the Central United Methodist Church, Honesdale and was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Pamona Park, Florida. Helen was an active member of the Wayne County Election Board for many years. She loved ceramics and quilting afghans and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Ralph Atkinson and his wife Margaret of Honesdale, Gerald W. Atkinson and his wife Susan of Honesdale; a daughter, Carol Irwin and her husband Robert of Honesdale; eight grandchildren, Thomas Atkinson of Honesdale, Amy Beckers and her husband Carl of Bayonne, NJ, Dana Irwin of State College, Pa., Suzanne Lowrey of Nazareth, Pa., Erik Irwin and his wife Sibyl of Philadelphia, Pa., Gerald Atkinson Jr. and his fiancé Jennifer Kungle of Columbia, MD, Jennifer Conover and her husband David of Hoboken, NJ, Candace McColligan and her husband Thomas of Scranton, Pa.; 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Geraldine (Jodi) Irwin, a brother Robert Tarkett and a sister, Vera Dougher.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 11 am in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main street, Honesdale, with the Rev. Martin Cox Jr. of the Hawley United Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
Burial will be in the Spring in the Glen Dyberry Cemetery, Honesdale.

David Lee Mason
Rowland, Pa. - A Memorial Service was held for David lee Mason, 56, of Rowlands, who died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. His wife Laurel Tellefsen Mason, survives. The couple were married on September 29, 1984 in Rowlands.
Born January 26, 1952 in Falls City, NE, he was the son of the Ann Katherine Gugel Mason and the late Allyn Leroy Mason. He spent his childhood in Queens, NY. A quiet, shy and reflective man, he loved his family, the environment and the world and was passionate about tolerance and justice. He loved to travel and ride his bicycle or motorcycle along the river to watch eagles and herons. He was always ready to help and assist anyone who asked.
Also surviving are two  daughters, Diana Hope Mason, Rowlands and Keri Reich, New Port Richey, FL; two sons, David and Christopher Mason, New York; two brothers, Allyn, Allentown and Steven of Elmont, NY; a god child, Amy Jeanne Tellefsen; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held at the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Beach Lake, with Minister Laurie Stuart officiating.

Daniel J. Buttaro II
Scranton, Pa. - Funeral services were held for Daniel J. Buttaro, II, 64, of Scranton, who died Monday June 16, 2008 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife, Maryann (Lenart) Buttaro survives. The couple were married on September 2, 1970.
The son of the Late Daniel J. and Catherine Roman Buttaro, he was born June 25, 1944 in Phoenixville. He was a freelance journalist and a member of the Pike County Emergency Planning Committee. He served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Also surviving are two sons, Daniel J. and his wife, Christine of Milford, and Marc of Scranton; a daughter, Beth Buttaro and her fiancé' Vincent Scialpi, Scranton; two grandchildren, Keishi and Frank; and a brother, Robert, Phoenixville.
Funeral services were held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford on Thursday June 19, with Rev. David Repenning officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Deborah Hospital Foundation, 20 Pine Mills Rd., Brown Mills, NJ 08015.

Junior W. Joe Morris
Tafton, PA - Services were held for Junior W. Joe Morris, 80, of Lynndale, Tafton, who died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, the former Joan Grace Raber.
Born April 6, 1928, in Franklin Twp., NJ, he was the son of the late George W. and Helen H. (Rolison) Morris. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was retired as a transportation dispatcher from Picatinnay Arsenal, Dover, NJ, in 1983. A Tafton resident since 1974, he was a member of the Tafton Fire Department and he loved to fish and play golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two  daughters, Cathy and Debbie; one son, Terry Morris; and several grandchildren.
Calling hours were Monday at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. The funeral was held Tuesday, June 3, at 11 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Kathi Heath officiating.
Interment, Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.
Memorials may be made to Tafton Fire & Rescue, Tafton, PA 18464.
