Anthony Joseph Swiniuch Sr.
Anthony Joseph Swiniuch Sr., 85 of Honesadle, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Helen M. Lucewicz. The couple were married July 6, 1946.
Born , June 12,1920 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Rojek Swiniuch. He was US Army veteran, serving during WWII and was a POW. He was employed by Moore Business Forms for 30 years and originally worked at the Niagara Falls location before transferring to Honesdale. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a lifelong member of the North Tonawanda F.D. in NY and a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.
Also surviving is his son Anthony Swiniuch Jr. of Honesdale and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John Swiniuch and sisters Edna Kavanaugh and Rose Sikora.
As per his request, cremation will be held at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale, Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 10:00 am.
Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery.

Glen Walter Johnson
Glen “Fuzzy” Walter Johnson, 80, formerly of White Mills, died December 17, 2005 at the Wayne Woodlands Manor, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his companion Dorothy Norton who died April 17, 2002.
Born March 17, 1925 in White Mills, he was the son of the late Walter and Ethel Kelch Johnson. He was a welder for the former Lummus and Yuba companies and later retired from Penn Dot in 1987. Glenn was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII from 1943 to 1949.
He was a member of the White Mills Fire Co., VFW, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. An avid sports fan he enjoyed watching the Yankees and Red Barons. He took great pride in his Granddaughter Lisa.
Surviving are sons Jimmy and wife Anne, of Honesdale and Gary and companion Carla, of Rochester; a daughter Mrs. George (Sandra) Reisinger, of Rochester; a sister Jean Larish, of Bound Brook, NJ; grandchildren,. Lisa Johnson Ford and husband Dr. William Ford, George, LeAnn, Christine, and Terry Reisinger; and nieces and nephews.
As per his requests private funeral services will be held at the convince of the family in Indian Orchard Cemetery by Rev. Jan Tiebert, Pastor of White Mills United Methodist Church.

Jean Bensing Bishop
Jean Bensing Bishop, 74 originally of Honesdale, died December 16, 2005 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Walter E. Bishop, who died July 5, 1993.
Born, December 11, 1931 in Nazareth, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest G. and Beatrice Shireman Bensing. For over 20 years, she was employed at Wayne Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Honesdale. Jean enjoyed playing bingo and loved to spend time with her family and friends. Even only having three children of her own, she was known to many as "Mom".
Surviving are her sons, Donald D. and wife Paula and Thomas Bishop, both of Honesdale and Jeffrey Bishop and wife Catherine of Scranton; a brother, Kermit Bensing and wife Darlene of OH, a sister, Mrs. Robert (Kay) Henninger of Northampton; Step-sister Elizabeth Hahn of Nazareth; Step-brother Richard Markulics of Bath; 4 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-mother Naoma Newhard Bensing and step-brother Andrew Markulics.
A memorial service will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday Dec. 21, 2005 at 12 pm with Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter officiating.
Friends may visit prior to services from 10-12, at the funeral home.

James F. Wright
James F. Wright , 83 of Honesdale, died Monday, December 5, 2005 in Ellen Memorial Health Care Center after an illness. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Eileen Howard.
Born, August 30, 1922 in Buffalo, NY, he later resided in Lakeville, White Mills, and later in Florida. He was a US Army veteran who served during WWII.
He attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in White Mills.
He was a devoted husband, a loving Father and grandfather.
Surviving are his four children, Donna Sutter of St. Petersburg, FL, Nancy Wright, Coronado, CA, Michael Wright, of Nyack, NY, and Colleen Edwards of Honesdale; three grandchildren, Heather, Amanda and Courtney.
As per his request a memorial service will take place at a later date in Buffalo, NY.

Christopher M. Quales
Christopher M. Quales, 34 of Honesdale, PA, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 in Hershey Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, the former Judy Landers. The couple were married August 29, 1998
Born, November 19, 1971 in Honesdale, he was the son of Jerry Quales of Honesdale and the late Sharon E. Mitchel Quales. He graduated from Honesdale High School, class of 1990 and would be remembered by his friends nickname for him "Goonie." Recently he was employed by Wal-Mart in Honesdale until taking ill. Chris was a big sports fan and especially enjoyed watching football. He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music especially rock and heavy metal and watching movies with his family.
Chris will be remembered as a loving and incredible husband, Father, and friend. His children were the love of his life.
Also surviving is his son Jesse and daughter Sarah, both at Home; brothers, Martie and wife Tracie, of FL and James of California; Father and mother in laws James and Ernestine Landers of Honesdale; a niece, 2 nephews, and a great grand nephew.
His funeral will be held from the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Friday at 10 am.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

Edward W. Rickard
Edward W. Rickard, 60, of Honesdale, died in a hunting accident on Saturday, December 3, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Maureen O'Brien Rickard. The couple were married on Oct. 9, 1971.
Born July 14, 1945 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Chester and Marion Schiessler Rickard. He was graduate of Honesdale Catholic High, class of 1963. A member of the US National Guard, he was called to service in 1972 during the Hurricane Agnes floods. He joined the Pennsylvania State Police in 1968 and upon graduating from the State Police Academy in Hershey, he served in Towanda, Tunkhannock, and Dushore. In Feb. of 1979, he was assigned to the Honesdale substation where he continued to serve until his retirement in 1993. In 1990, he was recognized by the Honesdale Area Jaycees as the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the year. He sincerely believed in giving back to the community that he loved. He was involved with the Honesdale Little League Assoc. for over 20 years and was instrumental in the construction of two fields and a new concession stand. He supported the "Bambino" League, and brought reality of a pitching machine to the fields so the younger children could play. In recent years, Ed served as a volunteer coordinator for the Red Cross Bloodmobiles. He also donated his time and energy to the Wayne County Historical Society, Big brothers/Big sisters, the Meals on Wheels Program, the Parish Council and the Parish Food Pantry.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and the Honesdale Country Club at Kellows Pond. His greatest joy came from his family and his many good friends.
Also surviving are his two sons, Brian, a member of the Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem/Allentown; Dan, an engineer with Quad Three Group in Wilkes-Barre; brothers Gary P. and Chester L. Rickard and wife Cindy; a sister Sandra Rickard Newell; a sister in law Susan Rickard, all of Honesdale; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held from Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church on Wednesday at 10 am.
Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may visit the funeral home Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9.

Barry D. Predmore, Jr.
Barry D. Predmore, Jr., of Honesdale, PA died on March 12, 2010. He was the son of Jane and Barry Predmore, Sr. and beloved brother of David Predmore, Denise Yorn, Dawn Figura, Melissa Luland and Kristina Luland. He adored his nephews, Patrick, Daniel, Michael, Zachary,
Preston, Kyle, and nieces Sage and Zoey. He loved fishing, demolition derbies and being with his family and friends and will be remembered for his gentle kindness towards everyone he met. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School.
As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory. A memorial service will be held today at Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at 12:30. The family will receive friends today from 11 to service time. Private interment will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery.
Randall James Miller
Randall James Miller, 52 of Honesdale, passed away Friday night, March 12, 2010 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family who will miss him terribly. He and his wife Anne Bates Miller would celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary on June 26th.
Born June 3, 1957 in Santa Anna, CA, he is the son of Albert and Lorraine Riefler Miller of Honesdale. He worked for Pleasant Mount Welding before taking ill and recently received his Pilots license.
If he wasn't flying his plane, he was thinking about flying his plane.
Randy also enjoyed golfing at the Honesdale Golf Club.
He was a brilliant, fun, loving and compassionate person who adored his family, especially his wife, and was extremely proud of his children. Randy touched many hearts and he will never be forgotten!
Fly high, fly safe and fly free.
Randy was a great son, loving husband, Father, brother and Poppi.
Also surviving are his daughters Kelly Miller-Kelleher and husband Shamus of Honesdale, Sandra Miller and Mike of Honesdale, and Jodie Miller and Mike of Philadelphia; brothers Mike Miller of Delaware and Allie Miller and wife Jill of Hawley; a sister Tammy Langan and husband Brian of Moscow, PA; grandchildren Sydney Miller and Katlyn and Jack Kelleher; several nieces and nephews.
As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Hawley United Methodist Church by Rev. Martin Cox at 10 AM.
Interment will be private.

Olive Baldwin
Olive Baldwin, a long time resident of Honesdale, PA, died one day short of her 97th birthday on March 6th, 2010 at The Jewish Home of Eastern PA in Scranton, PA. Olive was born in Islip, Long Island, NY on March 7th 1913 to Julia and Anders Nelson, emigrants to the US from Austria-Hungary and Denmark, respectively. She was married to the late Randolph C. Baldwin, Sr of Seaford, Long Island, NY.
During the early years of their marriage, Olive worked as a supervisor for New York Telephone. Prior to World War II, Ollie and Randolph owned Randolph Dry Cleaning business in Riverhead, Long Island, NY.
After Randolph's return from service in the Pacific theater, they departed Long Island for Walton, NY. In Walton, they owned a successful dairy farm and raised their three sons. In 1957, the family relocated to Honesdale, PA and owned and operated Randy's Tavern and Bowling Center in Seelyville, PA. The family later moved to their home on Canal St. in Honesdale where Olive lived until her 95th birthday.
Olive is survived by sons Randolph (Randy) Baldwin, Jr. of Dunmore, Fredrick Baldwin of Honesdale, and Wayne Baldwin of Newfoundland, as well as John Stucker of Wilkes- Barre, long time friend and caregiver to Olive. Olive was also dearly loved by her grandchildren Joshua Baldwin of central PA, Jennifer L. Baldwin of Champaign, IL, Katherine Baldwin of Hatfield, PA, and Ryan Baldwin of Abington, PA.
To her family, patrons, and friends, Olive was a famous chef, well known for her pies, chile burgers, and homegrown tomatoes. She remained an avid reader and card player until recent years when her vision failed. Olive was a confidante to many, and at all stages of her life drew to her lifetime friendships among individuals of all ages. Perceptive and passionate, she possessed a razor sharp mind that always manifested itself in her wisdom and wit. Magnanimous and selfless, Olive instilled in her family the values that defined her own life: a fierce work ethic and commitment to self-betterment, limitless generosity to all who entered her life; and a strong moral compass guided by respect, tolerance, and acceptance.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Home of NE PA where she was a resident for the past two years, as well as the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice who helped care for her in her final days.
There will be a private blessing service held at Hessling Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA. Interment will be in Glen Dyberry Cemetery.
William Nicholas Galasso
William Nicholas Galasso, 68 of Honesdale, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Arlene M. Kanarr on September 1, 1998. The couple married December 9, 1972.
Born April 22, 1941 in Pittston, PA he was the son of Rose Yaletsko Galasso of Pittston and the late James W. Galasso Sr.. He was a graduate of St. Johns High School in Pittston, class of 1958 and in
1962 graduated from the University of Scranton. He received his masters degree in social work from Fordham University.
Bill began his career at Catholic Social Service in Wilkes Barre and then became the Executive Director of TreHab at Scranton State Hospital. He retired from Indian Hill Lodge in Narrowsburg where he was the executive director.
Bill was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.
Before taking ill, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an accomplished gunsmith.
Surviving are his sons Matthew Galasso, Esq. and wife Shannon of Hawley and Christopher Galasso of Honesdale; his daughters Lori Krol, RN and husband Kevin of Honesdale, Mary and Jannelle Galasso at home; sisters Madeline Solorzano of Shavertown and Dr. Gwen Galasso of Pittston; a sister-in-law Constance Galasso of Swoyersville; an aunt, Irma Yaletsko of West Pittston; his grandchildren Kyle, Lauren and Leah Krol, Noah, Ashley and Alyssa Galasso and Xander Nelson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son William Galasso Jr. and a brother James W. Galasso Jr..
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment will be in St.
