Frank Charles Pesveyc Jr.

Frank Charles Pesveyc Jr., 70 of Aldenville died Wednesday April 25, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born March 28, 1937 in Newark, NJ he was the son of the late Frank Charles and Evelyn Edith Terrel Pesveyc. He was a graduate of Nutley High School and received a degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a US Army veteran serving with 82nd Airborne. Before retiring, he worked at Bisson Motors in the auto sales department. A true outdoors man, Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his former wife and best friend Marietta "June" Pesveyc, a daughter Kelly Pesveyc of Randolph, NJ; step children, Bruce Consales of AZ, Jannene Yager of CA, and Karen Marini of Lancaster, PA; a sister Grace and husband Gilbert Stine of Boca Raton, FL and 9 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step son Stephen Consales.

As per his request, cremation was held Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald. A private memorial service will be held at the families convenience.

Shirley M. Hessling

Shirley M. Hessling, 81 of Honesdale died Wednesday evening, April 25, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Robert N. Hessling. The couple married May 7, 1949.

Born December 2, 1925 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Sidney D. and Alma Susla Daniels. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1943. After graduating she attended Fashion Model School in New York City and later worked in a Defense Plant as an engraver in Lansdale, PA. Upon moving back to Honesdale she also worked as a clerk and bookkeeper for A&P Food Store in Honesdale and later associated with the Hessling Funeral Home. Shirley was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, its Altar Rosary Society, Catholic  daughters of America's Court St. Martin, an active member of the Friends of Football and a former member of the Alert Hook & Ladder Co. #2 Ladies Auxiliary. A loving housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was known as an avid sports fan.

Also surviving are her five sons Michael Hessling, Richard and wife Mary, Thomas and wife Linda, and Robert and wife Marie of Honesdale and William and wife Theresa of Hawley; an uncle John Susla and wife Melba of Montrose; sister in laws Joan Daniels of Tunkhannock, Ann Schroeder and husband Charles, Jean Gilhool and husband Harold of Honesdale; grandchildren Heather Birdsall of New Columbia, Lacey, Richelle, Tom, Jaclyn, Olivia, Samantha, Julia, Nick, Natasha, and Rachel; step grandchildren Andy and Eddie; great grandchildren Lindsey, Brienna, Thomas and Aliyah and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her step-mother Marie Gillette Daniels, a brother Sidney I. Daniels, brother in law Jo-Jo Hessling and sister in law Betty Vonson and husband Mike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale on Monday April 30, 2007 at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donors favorite charity.

Thomas John Hitty

Thomas John Hitty, 77 of Honesdale died Monday April 23, 2007 at Marion Community Hospital in Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Ellen Smith who died May 21, 2001. The couple married June 21, 1952.

Born June 15, 1929 in Creamton, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Louise Bucar Kotar Hiti. He owned and operated his own carpentry business for many years before retiring. A faithful person, he was a member at St. John the Evangelist Parish, a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 363 and was an usher at St. John's Church. Tom always enjoyed riding his tractor and doing yard work.

Surviving is his son Louis and wife Kay of Cherry Ridge;  daughters Karen Cobb of Waymart, Maureen Travis and husband Edward Jr. of Starucca and Mary Anne White and husband Charles Jr. of Lake Ariel; a brother James Kotar of Milford; a sister Pauline Rollek of Buffalo, NY; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death was his infant son Thomas Jr. a daughter Barbara Hitty, a son-in-law Corey Cobb and siblings Louise Naglich, Mary Chiprvich, Gus, Aldoph and Anthony Kotar, Victor and William Hitty, and Tillie Supancik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale on Friday at 10 AM. Cremation will follow at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Forest City.

Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday from 6-9.

Esther W. Tisano

Esther W. Tisano, 72, of Lakewood and formerly of Stamford, CT., died Sunday April 22, 2007, at Osprey Ridge in Carbondale, after an illness. She is survived by her husband of 50 years John Tisano. The couple married June 23, 1956.

Born April 22, 1935, in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Virginia Kenefic Woodward. She was a graduate of Stamford High School Class of 1953, and was the owner and operator of Bill & Freds Variety Store in Stamford CT until retiring in 1987. Esther later worked part time in the Tax Department for the City of Stamford. An avid golfer and bowler she was also a past Commissioner for Sterung Farms Golf Authority, as well as a past president of the Woman Auxiliary of the Springdale Fire Company. A charitable woman she was proud to donate $5000.00 to St. Josephs Hospital. Esther was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are 2 sons Thomas and fiancé Theresa, and David and wife Diane all of Lakewood; a daughter Susan Achilles of Bridgeport, CT; and 3 grandchildren Thomas Tisano, Kristen Tisano and Kathlynn
Achilles.

She was preceded in death by a brother C. Richard Woodward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 26, 2007 at 10:30 am at St. Juliana's Church, Rock Lake. Interment St Juliana's Cemetery.

Friends may visit on Wednesday April 25 from 5-8 pm at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St, Honesdale PA.

Helen (Lintner) Rames

Helen (Lintner) Rames, 83 of Waymart, died Monday April 16, 2007 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She was preceded in death by her first husband Norman Lintner and her second husband Joseph Rames.

Born May 17, 1923 at Whites Crossing, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Blaschack Nadratowicz. Helen was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and was active in many churches in the area preparing luncheons.

She is survived by her son Richard Lintner and wife Diana of Fort Myers, FL; brothers John, Edward, Anthony, and Jerome Nadratowicz and sisters Verna Vesta and Marion Rhoades and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Frank and Leo Nadratowicz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale on Saturday at 10 am. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday from 7-9.

Stella F. Fischer

Stella F. Fischer, 81 of White Mills, died Tuesday April 3, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Robert E. Fischer who died Dec. 1, 2004. The couple married February 2, 1946.

Born February 20, 1926 in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Katherine Cwalina Gurniak. For 40 years, Stella worked as a manager in the Print Shop at Alexanders Department Store in the Bronx. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in White Mills and when able, she enjoyed playing Bingo at the White Mills Fire Dept. and crocheting. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother with a great sense of humor.

Surviving is her son Robert K. Fischer and wife Janice of East Northport, NY; a daughter Christine Lewis and husband Jay of Muldrow, OK; sisters Ann Swiezbin of Glen Head, NY, Jean Owsinski of Plainview, NY and Frances Budnar of Port Richey, FL; 4 grandchildren Jenna and Keith Fischer and Frank and Michael Metz; great grandchildren Stephanie, Alyson and Brandon and nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death is her brother John Gurniak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 10 at St. Joseph's Church in White Mills with Rev. Joseph Kutch officiating. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday from 2-4 and
7-9.

Michael Samuel Caggiano

Michael Samuel Caggiano, 46 of Waymart, died Friday, March 30, 2007 after injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, the former Elaine Rose Taylor. The couple married November 16, 1983.

Born March 6, 1961 in Brookhaven, NY, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Gloria Vena Caggiano. He worked as an auto-body mechanic at Middle Island Collision in Long Island. He was a loving husband and  Father and also loved his two dogs. Besides riding his Harley, he also enjoyed restoring classic cars.

Also surviving are his  daughters Crystal, Michelle and Angelina all at home; brothers James and wife Crystal and Gary and wife Laurie; a sister Maryann and husband David and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Diane Barbarise.

A Blessing Service will be held at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday at 8pm with Rev. Martin Boylan officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5 until service time. Cremation will follow at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald.

Emily Elizabeth Mullen

Emily Elizabeth Mullen, 97 of Honesdale died Sunday March 18, 2007 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. She is preceded in death by her husband Francis J. Mullen who died April 26, 1974. The couple married Oct. 24, 1934.

Born Nov. 21, 1909 in Equinunk, she was the daughter of the late Peter Edward and Olive Odelia Chapman Eggler. She was employed at Katz Underwear Factory as a seamstress until retiring. Active in the community, Emily was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Enterprise Grange in Girdland, and the AARP in Honesdale. A faithful person, she was a member of the Catholic  daughters of America, Court St. Martin, St. John the Evangelist Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. Emily enjoyed spending her time reading and tatting.

Surviving are her sons Robert Mullen and wife Alice of Bethany and William Mullen and wife Brenda of Ft. Walton, FL;  daughters Jean Watson and husband James of White Mills, Helen Johnson and husband Robert of Barnesville, GA, Donna Bluff and husband Robert of Bethany and Kathleen Phillips and husband Robert of Waymart; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Louise Hathaway, Helen Clarke and Lena Warren and 2 grandchildren Sharon Johnson and William Tracy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale with Fr. Joseph Kutch officiating. Interment in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday from 5-8.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Rd. Honesdale, PA 18431 or to the donors favorite charity.

Rosina "Rose" Rosa

Rosina "Rose" Rosa, 83 of Berlin Twp., Honesdale died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at VNA Hospice, Moses Taylor in Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Joseph A. Rosa. The couple married Oct. 1, 1960.

Born January 15, 1924 in Belleville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Sica D'Alessio. A housewife and loving mother, she also worked as a trimmer for Pierless Tube Co. in Bloomfield, NJ and later as a press operator at R.S. Knapp Co. in Lynhurst, NJ.

Also surviving are her sons Angelo N. Zecca of Paterson, NJ and Joseph C. Rosa and wife Lisa of Dallas, TX;  daughters Rosie Lynch and husband Paul of Lynhurst, NJ and Jo Anne Zecca of Lodi, NJ; brothers Peter and Jerry D'Alessio both of Toms River, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Angelo L., Michelle, Christopher, Laura, Vincent and Tyler; 7 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Bennie and Sam and a sister
Mary Montalbano.

Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9.

Visiting will also be held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Rd., Lynhurst, NJ 07071 at a time and date to be announced along with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.

James Patrick Holroyd

James Patrick Holroyd, 59 of Nanticoke died March 8, 2007 at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes Barre after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 4, 1948 in Irvington, NJ, the son of the former Mary A. Scholl Holroyd of Hawley and the late Howard J. Holroyd. He was a US Navy Sea Bee Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Of his many jobs, he was a truck driver, auto mechanic and worked at a department store.

Also surviving is his brother John T. Holroyd and wife Diane of Toms River, NJ; a niece Mariellyn Holroyd; special cousins Kay Wyckoff and Ann Kimble and several other cousins.

As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory in Archbald. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday March 15, 2007 at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley at 10 AM with Rev. Rick Beck officiating. Private interment will be at a later date in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.

Catherine Teresa Lau Taninies

Catherine Teresa Lau Taninies, 82 of Honesdale entered into her heavenly home on March 8, 2007 at her home in Laurella surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years William John Taninies Jr. (Vince) on September 1, 2004. The couple married April 19, 1947.

Born June 12, 1924 on Lau Homestead in Laurella, Berlin Twp, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Teresa Maloney Lau. She graduated from Honesdale High School in 1940. She worked at Katz Factory, she lovingly raised her five children, after which she enjoyed working in the Honesdale High School Cafeteria until she retired. She then took great pleasure four-wheeling daily with her husband through the beauty of nature on the farm they loved so much. She continued to treasure this activity until January of this year. She loved working part-time at B&B Dodge until February 2007.

Catherine was a life member of the Catholic  daughters of America, Court St. Martin and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was a member of the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration from its inception May 1, 1990. In her memory, her grandson Robby Spaulding will continue Catherine and Vince's spiritual hour of prayer. The bi-monthly gatherings of the Laurella Coffee Group, last held at her home on Feb. 22, was always happily anticipated. She will be deeply missed by her many friends, neighbors and family.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen and husband Bob Spaulding, Bill and wife Kathy Taninies III, Tessie and husband Michael Murray and John and wife Jeanmarie Taninies. 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, "her other kid" Ginny Davitt, her beloved sisters and best friends, Florence Southerton, Margaret Rickard, and Teresa (Tessie) Henderson and their husbands; also her "summer sister" Pat Lau Cappadoccia; sister-in-law Pearl Taninies and brother-in-law Harold Parrish.

Also preceding her in death was her son Clarke, sister Agnes Lau Weidner, niece Rebecca Rickard VanOrden and grandnephew Timothy VanOrden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale at 10 AM with Rev. Martin Boylan officiating. Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9. Private interment will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.

Charles Fredrick Nober

Charles Fredrick Nober, 49 of Beach Lake, passed away at his home on March 3, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, the former Holly A. Wilson. The couple were married June 14, 1978.

He was born January 4, 1958 in Callicoon, NY, son of Robert and Elaine Meckle Nober. Charles was a self employed logger and worked until taking ill. He ejoyed hunting, fishing, and playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Also surviving is his son Charles Nober of Camp Hill, PA; 2  daughters April Henshaw and husband Nick of Clarks Summit and Ashley at home; 2 beautiful granddaughters Baleigh and Peyton Henshaw; brothers Robert, Kevin, and John Nober; a sister Debbie Sumner and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Shane Nober.

As per his request cremation will be held at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald.

A Memorial Service will be held at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Hawley on Saturday March 10, 2007 at 1 PM with Pastor Jackie Mohrmann officiating. The family would like to thank the Wayne Memorial Hospital and its Cancer Ward.

Lois Jean (Kersnowski) Brussell

Lois Jean (Kersnowski) Brussell, 71 of Honesdale, passed away Thursday March 1, 2007 at the VNA Hospice at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton following an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John "Jack" Brussell in August, 2002.

Born June 19, 1935 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Florence Myers Kersnowski. Lois graduated from Honesdale Catholic High School in 1953, and was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. She worked at Katz Factory for 20 years as a garment presser until retirement. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether it was taking a ride to town with her sister Teresa or visiting with her family, she was most content. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and "tell it like it is" way with words. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Michael and wife Carolyn of Florida, Stanley and wife Linda of South Canaan and John "Juggie" Brussell of Honesdale;  daughters Sue Ann Burkavage and husband Paul of Honesdale, Kathryn Brussell of Honesdale, and Ann Marie Brussell of Jermyn, PA; a sister Teresa Miller of Honesdale; grandchildren Jason, Eric, Jackie and Matthew Brussell; Cassie and Brook Burkavage; Ricky and Ashley Cosgrove and Briana and Lexi Cieciorka; three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, an aunt, and uncles, sister-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, and her pug Ottis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Stanley Paul Burkavage in 1982.

As per her request cremation was held at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory. The family will receive friends at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday from 5-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10AM. Private interment will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery.
