ROBERT W. ACKERMAN

Robert W. Ackerman, 71, of Latrobe RD1, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at home. He was born May 20, 1929, in Jamison 20, Pa., a son of the late Frank and Dorothy Reynolds Ackerman. He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and a member of the Community Church of Hecla. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Dream Waterbeds Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Grist. He was the loving husband of 39 years to Edna Musgrove Ackerman; and the loving Father and grandfather of Grace Smith of Latrobe RD1 and her children, Heather and Timmy; Deborah Vidakovich of Pleasant Unity and her husband, Greg, and their children, Greg and Joey; Mary "Ruth" Stinebiser of Greensburg and her husband, Mark, and children, Carrie, Matt and Daniel; and Robert Ackerman Jr. of Latrobe RD1. He is also survived by a sister, Leora Smith and her husband, Morris, of Latrobe RD1; three brothers , Raymond Ackerman and his wife, Barbara, of Mt. Pleasant, William Ackerman and his wife, Julie, of Latrobe RD1 and Richard Ackerman and his wife, Gloria, of Latrobe; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:20 a.m., followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Community Church of Hecla with the Rev. Dr. Dale L. Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. A military service will be accorded by AMVETS Post 94 of United and the Armbrust Veterans. LORETTA D. BOTTINO

Loretta D. Bottino, 80, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in her home in East Windsor, N.J. Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Perry Mazzarese. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Anthony DePaul Roman Catholic Church of East Windsor, N.J., and a former member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse Bottino; and a son, Norman F. Bottino. She is survived by two sons and daughters -in-law, Anthony J. Sr. and Judith Wall Bottino of Monongahela and Louis J. Sr. and Sally Bottino of Jacksonville, N.C.; daughters , Hazel J. and son-in-law, John Yankosky of East Windsor, N.J., with whom she made her home, Lorraine and son-in-law, Daniel J. Pergola Sr. of West Newton, Marion T. and son-in-law, Michael Duff of Frederick, Md., and Mary G. Parker of Searsport, Maine; grandchildren, Daniel J. Jr. and Cheri Pergola of West Newton, Anthony J. Jr. and Tara Bottino of Monongahela, Renee' and Shannon Henrich of Monongahela, Ronald, Louis and Maureen Bottino of Jackson, N.C., Angela Bottino of Donora, Jonathan Mesher of Abingdon, Md., and Tara Mesher of Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Jamie R. Pergola and Jeffrey A. Pergola of West Newton, Anthony II, Kala and Alexander Bottino of Monongahela. Friends will be received Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen. A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Monessen. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.

CAROLYN M. DIBERARDINE

Carolyn M. DiBerardine, 69, special mother , loving wife and trusted friend, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She gave her life freely and unselfishly not only to her family and friends, but also to her community through her tireless efforts at the Salem Township Tax Office for 26 years. She was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Bradenville, a daughter of the late Constantino and Severia Montegno Vitale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters , including: Nunzie A., Amedio V., Amergio V. Vitale, Anna Rich, Clara and Angeline Vitale, Mary Jane Wagner, Helen Unferdorfer and Clementine Vella. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Alfred J. "Shooty" DiBerardine; her children, Angella Macik of Greensburg, Ricky and Tim DiBerardine, both of Crabtree, and Andrea Eakin and her husband, Mark Sr.; three grandchildren, Joshua, Mark Jr. and Evan; two sisters and three brothers : Lucy DiMinno of Pittsburgh, Ernestine Valek of Greensburg, Anzelmo Vitale and John "Ron" Vitale, both of Bradenville, and Elio Vitale of Latrobe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020, www.pantalone.com, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree, with the Rev. Luke Policicchio, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township. Natale N. Pantalone, supervisor.

PAULINE COLES FEW

Pauline Coles Few, 86, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Jeannette, died Monday, May 22, 2000, after a lingering illness. Friends received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation and viewing will be held at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Jeannette, Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald M. Smith giving the eulogy and the Rev. Richard Freeman presiding.

MARJORIE FOX FRUND

Marjorie Fox Frund, 76, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 24, 2000, at her residence, with her loving family at her bedside. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-530, (email: rferg<\at>a1usa.net), Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held in Pennsville Baptist Church Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of funeral services with the Rev. Dr. Terry Murray and the Rev. Robert Bixel co-officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Mt. RONALD R. GIGLIOTTI

Ronald R. Gigliotti, 62, of Greensburg, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born in Pittsburgh, Aug. 18, 1937, he was the son of the late Louis R. and Lena Iorio Gigliotti. He was the retired owner and operator of Summit Health Services of Greensburg. He was a member of the B.P.O.E., Greensburg. Surviving are his wife, Ahna Harris Stumpf Gigliotti; four sons , Ronald Gigliotti and his wife, Lisa, of Latrobe, Louis Gigliotti of Pittsburgh, Joseph Gigliotti of Pittsburgh and Ross Gigliotti and his wife, Stacey, of United; a daughter, Rhonda Fiore and her husband, Robert, of Pittsburgh; four stepchildren, Terry Samide and her husband, Gary, of Latrobe, Tammy Johnson of Acme, Tracey Stauffer and her husband, Chris, of Latrobe and Todd Stumpf and his wife, Tracy, of North Carolina; a sister, Barbara Pecora and her husband, Frank, of Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. until the time of the blessing service at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private.

RONALD ALAN HICKMAN

Ronald Alan Hickman, 58, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at his home. He was born May 27, 1941, in Pennsylvania . He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Hickman; his mother , Jean Berkey of Latrobe; stepfather, William Berkey of Latrobe; a daughter, Erin Hickman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a brother, Gary Hickman of Denver, Colo. A memorial service was held May 16, 2000, at the OTT-LAUGHLIN FUNERAL HOME, Winter Haven, Fla.

DOROTHY L. MICHEALS

Dorothy L. Micheals, 90, of Connellsville, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2000, at the home of her son, Richard S. Micheals of Greensburg RD3. Friends were received Friday at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Randolph officiating. Committal, followed by entombment in Green Ridge Memorial Park at Pennsville.

IRMA (SOLSKY) MOCARSKY

Irma (Solsky) Mocarsky, 80, of Herminie (Keystone), died Thursday, May 25, 2000. She was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Herminie (Keystone), a daughter of the late George Sr. and Ida E. (Kranitz) Solsky. Irma was a homemaker and also was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herminie VFW Post #8427 and the Ladies Auxiliary Bowling League. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Mocarsky, in April 1997; and three brothers , John, George Jr. and Joseph "Ace" Solsky. Mrs. Mocarsky "Irma" is survived by her daughter, Debby Thompson and her husband, Stephen, of Charleston, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Adam Thomas Thompson and Judith Nicole Thompson; four sisters , Elizabeth Solsky, Helen and her husband, Peter Andreo, and Catherine Solsky, all of Herminie, and Mary Ellen Beltz and her husband, Joseph, of Greensburg; also a number of nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and will be received Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Lawrence L. Manchas officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Herminie Volunteer Fire Department or the Sewickley Township Ambulance Service.

BARBARA A. (PROFOZICH) NOVOSEL

Barbara A. (Profozich) Novosel, 88, of Shaler Township, on Thursday, May 25, 2000. Mrs. Novosel was a homemaker. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Novosel; mother of John M. Novosel of Shaler Township and Edward J. Novosel of California; sister of Katherine Schoppen of McCandless Township and Michael Profozich of Indiana Township. Also six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brothers , Edward and Joseph Profozich. Friends received at the FRANK R. PERMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Township, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Hampton Township, Tuesday at 10 a.m.

ROBERT D. NUTTER

Robert D. Nutter, 76, of Foxtown, Pa., died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Mt. Pleasant. He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Greensburg, a son of the late Theodore "Jack" and Bernice Davis Nutter. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Whyles, Pa., and was a member of the D.A.V. He was a deacon of the church and used his beautiful voice serving God. He was a staff sergeant in the 141st Infantry Regiment while in the Army, serving in North Africa, Italy, and France. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie B. (Daugherty) Nutter; children: son, Robert D. Nutter Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., son, Dale E. Nutter of Foxtown, daughter, Mrs. Terry (Carol) Trout of Acme, and son, James Nutter and wife, Dorothy, of Acme; a brother, Paul Nutter and wife, Ann, of Smithton; two sisters , Sarah Vincent and Dorothy Komko of Tacoma, Wash.; a special nephew, Ed Daugherty and wife, Lori, of Foxtown; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Grace Bible Church, Whyles, with the Rev. Wes Johnson officiating. Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.

MARIE SMATHERS REED

Marie Smathers Reed, 83, of Punxsutawney RD4, died Thursday, May 25, 2000. She was born March 4, 1917, in Ringgold Township, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Charles Emerson Smathers and Minnie Belle Dobson Lingenfelter Smathers. She married Frank A. Reed on June 16, 1935. Marie attended the Mottorn and Reitz Schools in Ringgold Township, and graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1935. She rode the first bus from Ringgold Township to transport students to Punxsutawney High School. She was employed for 14 years at the Loree Footwear in Rossiter and Big Run, Pa. She was a 50-year member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Punxsutawney RD4, and also a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Commercial Travelers, a member and secretary of the Ringgold Golden Agers and a member of the Grandmothers Club in Punxsutawney. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters , Doris and Geraldine; a brother, Ross; four half sisters , Mrs. Stella Seanior, Mrs. Annie Stewart, Ella Lingenfelter and Mrs. Florence Hetrick; and three half brothers , Fred, John and Marion Lingenfelter. Surviving are four sons , Elmer Frank Reed of Punxsutawney RD4, Don A. Reed of New Bethlehem, Col. Larry R. Reed of DuBois and Dale Dee Reed of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WAYNE W. PIFER FUNERAL HOME, Punxsutawney. Friends will also be received at St. John's United Church of Christ, Punxsutawney RD4, Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn McQuown officiating. Burial in St. John's U.C.C. Cemetery, Punxsutawney RD4.

PETER L. RICOTTA

Peter L. Ricotta, 59, residing at 2708 Hinde Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, May 25, 2000, at his residence. He was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving for eight years. He retired from New Departure-Hyatt in 1988, following 22 years of service. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the AMVETS, Mills Creek Men's Golf League, and was an avid golfer and NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Loehn) Ricotta, to whom he was married 25 years; four daughters , Mrs. Scott (Debbie) Mellon of Dayton, Ohio, Annemarie Roeder of New London, Ohio, Mrs. Bill (Michelle) Ross of New London, Ohio, and Mrs. Todd (Tina) Wise of Norwalk, Ohio; two sons , Robert C. Steler of Sandusky, Ohio, and Peter J. Ricotta of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three sisters , Mrs. James (Antonette) Grimm of Sandusky, Ohio, Mrs. Andrew (Margarette) Harenchar of Mt. Pleasant and Ms. Marie Ricotta of Avon Lake, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Mary (Vissari) Ricotta; and three brothers , Anthony, Anthony J. and John A. Ricotta. Friends may call Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the GROFF FUNERAL HOME, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. The Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Ohio Affiliate Inc., 1689 E. 115th St., Cleveland, OH 44106-3988, or to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
