OMA A. STILE

Oma A. Stile, 79, of Latrobe RD5, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 12, 1921, in Unity Township, a daughter of the late Howard C. and Rachel S. (Hughes) Mershon. Prior to retirement, she was a district sales representative for Avon. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Youngstown, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth I. Gibson. She is survived by her husband, Walter W. Stile; four children, Linda K. Burkhart and husband, Karl Burkhart Jr., of Latrobe RD4, Howard Wayne "Sonny" Stile at home, Betty Lou "Betsy" Kaleina and husband, Dr. David Kaleina, of Greensburg, and James Keith Stile at home; five grandchildren, Shawn Burkhart and wife, Karen, Brook Burkhart and fiancee, Kristen Hoyman, Cory Stile, and Jessica and Megan Kaleina; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Jane Burkhart. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 356, Youngstown, PA 15696.

EDWIN J. AIRGOOD

Edwin J. Airgood, 88, of Pitcairn, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000. Husband of Margaret E. (Nash) Airgood. Father of Shirley E. Wilson of Pitcairn, LaVerne Hoffman of Windber, Pa., Barbara McElfresh of Pitcairn, Frank P. Airgood of Pitcairn and the late William E. Airgood. Brother of Ruth Howard of Irwin, Paul Airgood of Wilmerding, Marie Dry of Canonsburg, Ethel Syster of Butler and Catherine Root of Pitcairn. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Friends received Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

EDWARD RAYMOND BAER

Edward Raymond Baer, 72, of Plum Borough, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Forbes Regional Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Pittsburgh, a son of Irene Ecker Gardnar of Lower Burrell and the late Raymond Baer. Also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lynn Baer. Survived by his wife, Odette Christiane Murray Baer; and three sisters , Ann Degitz of New Castle, Joan Wikert of Lower Burrell, and Joyce Wolf of Tennessee. Friends will be received at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Norman E. Nething officiating. Interment Mt. Royal Cemetery.

JAMES R. BELLINI

James R. Bellini, on Tuesday, May 23, 2000. Beloved husband of Flora (Dixon); Father of Michael J. and Mary Anne Brennan; Father -in-law of Paul Brennan; grandfather of Christopher and Daniel Brennan; and brother of John, Silvester, Henry, and Thomas. Friends received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FINDLAY C. WYLIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 11311 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. Funeral Mass Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Susanna Church.

WILLIAM BERGAD

William "Bill" Bergad, 88, a well-known and longtime resident of Irwin, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Bergad; his loving wife, Rose; sister, Mary; and brothers , Max and Saul. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Bette Jo and Howard L. Greenberger of New York City, N.Y.; and a son and his wife, Robert and Pearl Bergad; and also grandsons, Aaron and Corey, all of Minneapolis, Minn. Bill was a hometown boy who made Irwin his life. After high school with a stint on the football team, Bill attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his pharmacy degree. In 1931, after working as a pharmacist in several Pittsburgh drug stores, he married Rose Reisberg of McKeesport and settled back in Irwin, where he opened his own drug store on the current site of the post office. In 1955, he moved the drug store across the street to the former site of Fink's Pharmacy, now a parking lot at Second and Main. In business for more than 40 years, Bill's many customers could always depend on him to fill their prescriptions any time of the day or night, and deliver them. He never complained about middle-of-the-night emergencies simply stating that his customers came first. After retirement, Bill could now afford some hard earned leisure years with his wife, Rose. Viewing sports events and reading were his favorite activities. Bill was an active member in the Irwin Chapter of AARP. He only recently gave up golfing with the Seniors and enjoyed daily morning meetings with his many friends over coffee at Isaly's. Bill touched the hearts and lives of many Irwin residents. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Temple Emmanuel Cemetery, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwin Public Library, 299 Third St., Irwin, PA 15642.

THOMAS LAWRENCE BROZACK

Thomas Lawrence Brozack, 69, formerly of Irwin, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Cambridge Springs, Pa. Born in Shafton, Sept. 25, 1930, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Katherine Losscotch Brozack. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. Survivors include four sisters , Helen Belfiglio of Jeannette, Agnes Thomas and her husband, Frank, of Irwin, Shirley Cagle and her husband, Kenneth, of Irwin and Delores Safran and her husband, John, of Westmoreland County; and a brother, George Brozack of Wayne, Mich. Services will be held today at the VAN MATRE FUNERAL HOME, Cambridge Springs. Burial at Union Cemetery, Irwin.

LARRY G. CHARLEY

Larry G. Charley, 53, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Greensburg, a son of the late Anthony and Olga "Alice" Lishego Charley. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, South Greensburg, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Charley. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Zedek Charley; a daughter, Angela Charley of Greensburg; three stepsons, Ryan and his wife, Tricia Zedek, of Long Beach, Miss., Kevin and his wife, Shirley Zedek, serving with the U.S. Army in Hawaii, and Keith Zedek at home; a brother, John J. and his wife, Judy Charley, of Greensburg; and a nephew, Jerry Charley of Greensburg. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will begin in the funeral home Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and immediately follow at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, South Greensburg, with Archpriest John Nosal officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard of Greensburg will follow in the Hillview Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Memorial services will be held in the funeral home Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. Family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Westmoreland County Chapter, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15235, or St. Michael's Orthodox Church Building Fund, 601 Wirsing Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601.

ALFRED H. HEARD

Alfred H. Heard, 85, of Saltsburg, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Iselin, Pa., a son of the late Thomas and Lula Henry Heard. He had lived in Saltsburg most of his life. Prior to retirement in 1979, he was employed by Federal Laboratories in Tunnelton as a purchasing agent. Also he was a member of Saltsburg Presbyterian Church and was a session member along with being a deacon and elder of the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Heard, in 1994; four brothers , Claire, Glen, William, and Tom Heard; and a sister, Ruth Kohler. He is survived by four daughters , Jean E. Heard of Valencia, Nancy R. Zimmerman of Clarksburg, Pa., Carol A. Newhouse of New Alexandria, and Marjorie K. Gordish of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 701 Salt St. in Saltsburg. Services from the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Satler officiating. Interment Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saltsburg Presbyterian Church, Saltsburg.

THOMAS PHILLIPS JOHNSON

Thomas Phillips Johnson, on Tuesday, May 23, 2000. Husband of the late Jane Moore Johnson. Father of Thomas Phillips Johnson Jr. of Poultney, Vt., and James Moore Johnson of Telluride, Colo. Also survived by three grandchildren, Peter T., Jesse D. and Asa J. Johnson; and a sister, Winifred Clive of Orlando, Fla. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at H. SAMSON INC., 537 Neville St., (Oakland Civic Center). Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to East Liberty Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Highland Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206, or to a charity of one's choice.

PAUL V. MAHER

Paul V. Maher, 71, of Bell Township, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home. Born in Philadelphia, April 11, 1929, he was a son of the late Paul Vincent and Margaret (Markle) Maher. He lived in the Saltsburg area for the past five years and previously resided in New Jersey. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he had been employed by Amtrak as a car inspector at the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth "Sandy" Maher, in 1987; a brother, John Maher; and a sister, Dorothy Moore. He is survived by a son, Michael Maher of Bell Township; a daughter, Mrs. Billy (Debra) Walker of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters , Mrs. Gabe (Marion) Babjzak of Mays Landing, N.J., and Peggy Gallagher of Drexel Hill, Pa.; and five grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, May 27, from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m., the time of a memorial service in the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

RAYMOND M. McILVAINE

Raymond M. McIlvaine, 86, of Jeannette, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at home. He was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Manor, a son of the late Taylor and Ruth Ruoff McIlvaine. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Helms Transport. He was a member of Teamsters Local 30, the Arlington Sportsman's Club, the Kingston Vets, and B.P.O.E. #486 of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William McIlvaine. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Fagan McIlvaine; a daughter, Donna Drylie and her husband, William, of Jeannette; a son, Raymond "Butch" McIlvaine of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren, John R. Diffenderfer and his wife, Marlene, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Daniel Diffenderfer and his wife, Sandy, of Hanover, Pa., Deidre Reed of Blairsville, Dana Zimmerman and her husband, Brian, of Derry, Catherine Harbaugh and her husband, Eric, of Jeannette, Jesse McIlvaine of Punxsutawney, Taylor Schaffer of Bethlehem and Aaron Schaffer of Bethlehem; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Coley of Mechanicsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Hans O. Andrae officiating. Interment will be private. RACHEL HELEN PECK

Rachel Helen Peck, 81, of Greensburg, formerly of Indian Head, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Greensburg. She was born June 8, 1918, in Mill Run, a daughter of the late Raymond and Rebecca Rugg Miner. Rachel was a resident of Indian Head for most of her life. She was a loving homemaker and was a demonstrator for Dutchmaid Clothing for 20 years. She was a member of the Indian Head Church of God and was also a member of the Fayette Mountain Craft Club. She is survived by her loving children, John R. Peck and his wife, Joanne, of Normalville, Jerold Peck and his wife, Mary Jane, of Connellsville, James Peck and his wife, Norma, of White , Jean Grimm of Indian Head, Nancy Williams and her husband, John, of Champion, Rose Coffman and her husband, Wendell, of Sterling Heights, Mich., Arlene Ritenour and her husband, Dennis, of Indian Head, and Brenda Kopf and her husband, Rob, of Clarkston, Mich.; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters , Sybil Beck and her husband, Carl, of Indian Head, Violet Bottomley of Mill Run, Cora Hyatt of Sheridan, Ill., and Cosey brothers and her husband, Clyde, of Connellsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis H. Peck, in 1985; an infant son; an infant grandson, Curt Ritenour; a sister, Ina Nicholson; two brothers , Raymond Dale and Ted Miner; and a son-in-law, Samuel Grimm. Friends will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of a funeral service in the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Indian Head Church of God Building Fund, Indian Head, PA 15446, or the Alzheimer's Association, 1323 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, in Rachel's memory.

REGIS PELTIER

Regis "Rip" Peltier, 82, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000. He was born June 8, 1917, in Jeannette, a son of the late Victor and Mary Breinig Peltier. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a mailman in Jeannette. Regis was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, 79th Division, and was a member of the American Legion Post #344, F.O.E. #844 and the Brotherhood of White Eagles, all of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers , Harry and George Peltier Sr. He is survived by his wife, Betty Oswald Peltier; three daughters , Pamela Lawson and Lisa Peltier, both of Jeannette, and Cindy Lane and husband, John, of Plum Borough; three sons , Regis A. Peltier Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Ohio, Richard Peltier and wife, Deborah, and Randy Peltier and fiancee, Betty Hoover, all of Jeannette; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Ascension Church. Interment will follow in the Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will hold services Friday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Arnold Charles "Arnie" "Babe" Peterson, 86, of Scottdale RD2, husband of Mary Hixson Peterson, died Wednesday evening, May 24, 2000.
