RAY BARKLEY
Ray Barkley, 80, of Uniontown, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born April 13, 1920, in Luzerne Township, a son of the late Charles and Mary Myrtle Crable Barkley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Harford Barkley, on Jan. 14, 1987; and four brothers , Harry, Clyde, Danny and Charles Barkley. Survivors include four sons , Ray Barkley Jr. and wife, Karen E., of Smock, Douglas Barkley and wife, Deborah, Danny Barkley and Mark Barkley and wife, Tammy, all of Uniontown; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Thelma Powers of Beallsville; a dear friend and companion, Nan Martz of Uniontown; and many nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign, and was awarded four bronze stars for valor. He was a member of the North Union VFW Post 8543, the AMVETS General Marshall Post 103, and Teamsters Local 491 (retiring from Quinn Freight Lines). He was an avid boater and was one of the four original members and founders of the Fayette Boat Club. Friends were received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown. Additional viewing Tuesday until 11:30 a.m., at which time a blessing service will be held, followed by a burial rite in St. Peter Episcopal Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Finnie officiating. AGNES LORRAINE BERAN
Agnes Lorraine Beran, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Bair) Schaeffer. Lorraine was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Beran, in 1996. She is survived by two daughters , Loree Tannett and her husband, Jack, of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada and Lenore Dittrich of Pittsburgh; a son, Andrew Patton and his wife, Mary, of Mercer; a stepson, Richard Beran of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren, Robert, Eileen and Rebecca Dittrich, Andrew Morgan, Meg and Claire Tannett and Andrew and Anastasia Patton; two stepgrandchildren, Darlene Fulmer and Diane Beran; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Tiffany Dittrich and Robert Dittrich III; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. There will be no public viewing or visitation for Mrs. Beran. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren with the Rev. ERNEST CERESA
Ernest Ceresa, 77, of Trafford, formerly of Penn Township, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born April 17, 1923, in Schignano, Italy, a son of the late Paul and Catherine Peduzzi Ceresa. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a bricklayer for Local 75 Bricklayers Union in Greensburg. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Harrison City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World WAr II, and was a member of the Sub-Alpine Society of Turtle Creek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dominic Ceresa. He was a beloved husband, Father , Father -in-law, and grandfather to the following: his wife of 53 years, Florence Pierce Ceresa; three sons , Dominick and wife, Virginia Ceresa, of Jeannette, Ernest Ceresa of Trafford and Roy and wife, Barbara Ceresa, of McCullough; a daughter, Mary Kinkella of Trafford; two brothers , Anthony Ceresa of Wilmerding and Paul Ceresa of North Versailles; a sister, Pearl Rosi of Wilmerding; four grandchildren, Anthony Ceresa, Vicki Ceresa, Dominique Kinkella and Rachel Temple; and a great-grandson, Chad Heasley. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., at which time services will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. WILLIAM U. COLLIGAN
William U. Colligan, 69, of Greensburg, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Greensburg, a son of the late John and Rowena Eidem Colligan. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the A.B.B. Co. of South Greensburg. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Greensburg. William enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Lois H. Sakraida Colligan; a son, Paul S. Colligan and wife, Cindy, of Greensburg; three daughters , Patricia D. Jones of Pittsburgh, Barbara A. Flack and husband, John, of Latrobe and Donna J. Caldwell and husband, George, of Greensburg; and nine grandchildren, Paul S. Jr., Nathaniel and Sean Colligan, Jason and Taura Gaffney, and Deanna, Adam, Chad, and Austin Caldwell. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Logan Andrew Dunn, 11-month-old son of Jason A. Dunn of Greensburg and Erin R. Long of Ruffsdale, died Thursday, May 18, 2000. He was born June 7, 1999, in Greensburg. LOUIS R. FOLINO
Louis R. "Mang" Folino, 75, of Trafford, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in the Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh. He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Trafford, a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Ferline Folino. He was a member of the St. Regis Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a PIAA basketball official for 25 years, and officiated the first Roundball Classic game in Pittsburgh. He was also the manager of the Pizza Hut in Irwin for 25 years, for which he recently received a national award for service. He was well known within the Penn-Trafford, Norwin, Yough and Hempfield school districts for athletic fund raising for the basketball and football programs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Folino. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Cannillo Folino; a son, Louis and wife, Kathy Folino, of Penn Township; a daughter, Debbie and husband, John Cortazzo, of Penn Township; and four grandchildren. John J. Gilarski, of North Braddock, on Sunday, May 21, 2000. Retired steelworker from E.T. Works after 43 years. Member of the Good Shepherd Men's Club and the Good Shepherd Senior Citizens. Husband of Margaret Simcik Gilarski. Father of Marlene Cummings and husband, Dan, of West Mifflin and Lorraine Boyle and husband, Rich, of Williamsport. Brother of Anthony, Stanley and Frances Gilarski, Mary Sidor, Anne Sczwarc, Theresa Kobylanski, Helen Maszkiewicz, Josephine Palotta and the late Charles and Josephine Gilarski. ELLA J. GROSSMAN
Ella J. Grossman, 63, of Allegheny Township, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in her home, following a long illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Kiski Township, Armstrong County, a daughter of Anne Marsilli Dezzutti of Vandergrift and the late John Dezzutti. She had lived in Allegheny Township for the past 18 years and prior in Vandergrift. She was employed by Kiski Area School District as a cafeteria worker for 23 years until her retirement in 1999. Also, she was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift. Mrs. Grossman enjoyed playing cards, yard work, spending time with family and especially her grandchildren, and loved to travel to see and experience new and different things. In addition to her mother , she is survived by her husband of 27 years, Cecil D. Grossman; a son, Anthony J. Peila of Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Deborah A.) Whalen of Jeannette; a stepson, Stephen D. Grossman of Mars; two stepdaughters, Nancy E. Grossman of Natrona Heights and Patricia L. Healy of Tarentum; a brother, Joseph "Joe" Dezzutti of Allegheny Township; and six grandchildren. Shirley A. Hartman, 64, of Jeannette, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Grapeville, the daughter of the late Elmer A. and Martha Leasur Snyder. She was a member of the Open Bible Church of Jeannette. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ira C. Hartman; a daughter, Darlene Howard and husband, David, of Grapeville; a brother, Elmer A. Snyder and wife, Katherine, of Sunland, Calif., and their children, Keith, Faith, and Scott Snyder; three grandchildren, Angela Cook at home, and Ira and Michael Howard of Grapeville; brothers -in-law, James Hartman and wife, Janet, of Jeannette and Robert Hartman and wife, Janet, of Warwick, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews. Geraldine A. Johnson, 72, of Irwin (Sewickley Township), died Friday, May 19, 2000, in West Penn Hospital, Bloomfield. She was born Dec. 29, 1927, in West Newton, the daughter of the late Charles and Belle Bowen Harvey. She was a member of The Church, Sutersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Harvey. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles "Knobby" Johnson; two sons , Kenneth Johnson of Finleyville and Duane Johnson of Belle Vernon; a daughter, Sally Delaini of Jacobs Creek; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Betty J. (Armor) Jones, 70, of Herminie, Sewickley Township, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Greensburg. Born March 21, 1930, in Manor, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Arbaugh) Armor. She was a member of the Manor United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, William Y. Jones; two daughters , Candace Crimboli (husband, Marc) of Greensburg and Joyce Musgrove (husband, Dan) of Simpsonville, S.C.; two brothers , Robert Armor of Littleton, N.C., and Donald Armor of Manor; and four grandchildren, Crystal Musgrove, Danielle Musgrove, Adam Crimboli and Casey Crimboli. William T. Lane, 58, of Irwin, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1941, in Pittsburgh, a son of Margaret Walsh Lane of West Hempfield, Irwin, and the late William Henry Lane. He was a member of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, Ga. In addition to his mother , he is survived by two daughters , Christie Greenway of Lockport, Ill., and Jacquelyn Mass of Minooka, Ill.; four grandchildren, Ryan and Ian Greenway, Troy and Paige Mass; a sister, Mary Guman of Irwin; and a brother, John Richard Lane of Memphis, Tenn. Glen Henry Harrison Lovell, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Jeannette, a son of the late Williard Henry and Matilda Cranshore Lovell. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Pittsburgh Reflector Co. He is survived by his loving companion, Martha Smouse Brosh; three children, John, Joe and Grace Brosh, all of Mt.
