MARY F. KASTAN BROZAK
Mary F. Kastan Brozak, 82, of East McKeesport, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at UPMC McKeesport. She was born July 16, 1917, in United, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Scntylany Kastan. She was a retired employee of Gimbels Department Store, North Versailles, and a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John E. Brozak; and a brother, Joseph Kastan. She is survived by two sons , John E. "Jack" Brozak of Springdale, Pa., and Gerald J. Brozak of West Newton; a daughter, Barbara J. Margueriet of East McKeesport; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen "Fuzzy" Kastan of Yuba City, Calif.; also nieces and nephews. Ida E. (Martinelli) Campoli, 92, formerly of McKeesport, on Friday, May 19, 2000, at Baldock Nursing Home, North Huntingdon. Wife of the late Geano Campoli. Sister of J.B. ALFRED G. DELISSIO
Alfred G. Delissio, 71, of Penn Hills, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Pittsburgh. Mr. Delissio was born in Dunningtown, Westmoreland County. He was a millwright for U.S. Steel and a veteran of the Korean conflict. He is survived by a son, Alfred A. Delissio of Penn Hills; a daughter, Cathy L. Jones of Monroeville; a sister, Donna Korchok of Slickville; a brother, Robert Delissio of Liberty, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Angela Jones, Jason Delissio and B.J. Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Nora (Balest) Delissio; a brother, William Delissio; and a sister, Marie Hullenbaugh. F. KENNETH DIXON
F. Kenneth Dixon, 80, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Marian Manor, of complications resulting from a brain tumor. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary, and his children. Ken Dixon served as the director of elections of Allegheny County from 1976 until his retirement in 1984. He was considered a top aide to the late former county Commissioner Thomas Foerster. He was assistant director to Election Director Will Alton from 1970 to 1976, when commissioners Wecht, Hunt, and Foerster made him their unanimous selection to succeed Alton. Later, he served under Commissioners Flaherty and Pierce, before retiring in 1984. He was considered an organizer and brought a business management perspective to the County Elections Bureau. He was popular with the media and considered extremely honest and forthright by those he served. His election department was considered one of the finest, and often served as a model for similar departments across the country. Mr. Dixon was also the Democratic chairman of Mt. Lebanon in the early 1960s. Mr. Dixon was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in combat in New Guinea from 1943 to 1945. Following the war, he assumed the post of purchasing agent for Allegheny County, until his 1970 appointment to the elections department. He also managed the concessions stands for North Park, Camp Horne, Crafton and Greentree swimming pools, as well as the North Park skating rink, tennis courts and boathouse. He retired from the concession business in the early 1970s to devote his time to the elections department. When he retired in 1974, he had served the county for more than 35 years. Mr. Dixon resided in Mt. Lebanon, in the same home in which he was raised, inherited from his parents. He was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Parish, in Castle Shannon, where he tirelessly gave his time and energy. Among the innumerable services he performed for the church over the past 60 years, is president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 40 years. His sixth child, Special FBI Agent Martha Dixon, was slain on Nov. 22, 1994, after successfully thwarting a shooting spree in the Washington , D.C., Metro Police Station. She was awarded the Justice Department's Medal of Honor, the highest award given to a law enforcement agent. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his seven remaining children, Edward and Paul of Bethel Park, Janice Smith of Castle Shannon, Kevin of Egg Harbor, N.J., Joanne Giarla of Mt. Lebanon, Monica Dentino of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mark of Mt. Lebanon; and three brothers , Charles of Greensburg, Robert of North Huntingdon and the Rev. Jerome Dixon of the North Side. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren. Viewing will be held at the LAUGHLIN FUNERAL HOME, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, Castle Shannon. Logan Andrew Dunn, 11-month-old son of Jason A. Dunn of Greensburg and Erin R. Long of Ruffsdale, died Thursday, May 18, 2000. He was born June 7, 1999, in Greensburg. LORA A. ETLING
Lora A. Etling, 85, of Scottdale, passed away early Friday morning, May 19, 2000, at Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home, Scottdale. Lora was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Newport News, Va., a daughter of the late Fletcher A. and Lora E. Roberts Davis. Lora retired from Southmoreland School District, where she had been employed as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of the Alverton United Methodist Church and served on the church board for many years. Lora also served her church as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Lora is survived by her loving family: a daughter, Wilma J. (Jean) Nedrow of Richmond, Va.; two sons , William A. Etling and his wife, Helen, of Scottdale; Richard H. Etling and his wife, Brenda, of Derby, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Diane Brown, Robert Nedrow, Grace Toney and Daniel Nedrow, all of Richmond, Va., and Nina Siecinski of Mt. Pleasant, William A. Etling Jr. of Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nev., and Lynsey and Austin Etling of Derby, Kan.; four great-grandchildren, Katie, Collin, Jonathan and Aimee; a sister, Grace Singletary of Farmville, Va.; a brother, Floyd Davis and wife, Mary, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and her extended family, Sam and Opal Whetsel of Rockwood, Pa.; Carmen, Donna and Mark Petraglia of Prittstown, Angela and John Sipple of Scottdale RD, and Mike and Tina Petraglia of Connellsville RD. Dorothy Dudick Feehan, 78, of Monessen, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Belle Vernon, a daughter of the late David and Anna (Gall) Dudick. Mrs. Feehan was a resident of the Belle Vernon and Monessen areas all her life, and was a 1940 graduate of North Belle Vernon High School. She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph W. Feehan; two stepsons, Joseph P. and his wife, Gloria Feehan, of Woodsboro, Md., and Jack Feehan of Monessen; a stepdaughter, Marianne and her husband, Jim Flickinger, of Greensburg; a brother, Paul Dudick of Belle Vernon; a sister, Jean Maury of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren, Patrick, Sarah, Jake and Marc; and three great-grandchildren, Justin, Connor, and Brendan. Emidio J. "Mingo" Guerrieri, 84, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of North Braddock, on Friday, May 19, 2000. He was a second-generation owner and barber for more than 30 years of the Jones Avenue Barber Shop, North Braddock, retiring in 1970. He then became a supervisor of road construction for the Allegheny County Department of Works. In the 1930s, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in New England. He was a member and secretary of the North Braddock school board from 1953 to 1965. He was a former member and past president of the North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department Co. #2. He was also a founder of the North Braddock Midget Football Association. Husband of the late Edna E. (Kocher) Guerrieri. Father of Joanne H. LeDonne of Jefferson Hills, James A. of Penn Township and Lynne Horvath of Level Green. Brother of Amelia Roman of North Braddock, Robert of North Braddock, Thomas of Churchill and the late Frances Miglioro, the late Louise Cheney and the late Lawrence Guerrieri. Robert L. Hofmann, 65, of Derry, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at home. He was born July 27, 1934, in Derry, a son of the late Charles H. and Elsie Marie Chamberlain Hofmann. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Derry. He retired from Gray's Construction Co. and formerly worked for Westinghouse Support Services in Waltz Mills, Standard Steel, and Blairsville Westinghouse. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Derry Borough High School, where he was a two-time all-state athlete in basketball and football. He played baseball for Cooperstown, Derry Vets and Blairsville. He was a member of the Derry Ukes, Derry American Legion, Cooperstown Sportsman Club, St. Joe's Club and The White House. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Hofmann Jr. Surviving are his wife, LuAnn Parker Hofmann; three sons , Thomas W. of Youngstown, Pa., William R. and his wife, Candy, of Stahlstown and Patrick A. Hofmann of Derry RD1; two daughters , Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Todd of Derry and Krystle L. Hofmann of Derry; a brother, Carl Hofmann of Derry RD1; two sisters , Minnie Penrose and Mrs. Welty (Louise) Piper, both of Latrobe; eight grandchildren, Ann and Beth Conrad, Ryan, Michael, Joshua, Derek, Dylan and Kyle Hofmann; a great-grandson, Steven Conrad; and several nieces and nephews. Betty J. (Armor) Jones, 70, of Herminie, Sewickley Township, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Greensburg. Born March 21, 1930, in Manor, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Arbaugh) Armor. She was a member of the Manor United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, William Y. Jones; two daughters , Candace Crimboli (husband, Marc) of Greensburg and Joyce Musgrove (husband, Dan) of Simpsonville, S.C.; two brothers , Robert Armor of Littleton, N.C., and Donald Armor of Manor; and four grandchildren, Crystal Musgrove, Danielle Musgrove, Adam Crimboli and Casey Crimboli. Margaret H. Mash, 87, of Jeannette, died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Oct. 7, 1912, in Mammoth Shaft, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Catherine Kendi Frena. She was a member of the Ascension Church of Jeannette and the National Slovak Society. Margaret was a homemaker and an avid bingo player. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Mash, in 1977; and an infant sister, Helen. She is survived by a son, Eugene Mash and his wife, Nancy, of Jeannette; four grandchildren, Gina Mediate and husband, Bruno, of Level Green, Greg Mash and wife, Anita, and Jeffrey Mash, all of Jeannette, and Valerie Comito and husband, Robert, of Greensburg; six great-grandchildren, Vincent, Christina, Michael, Anthony, Nicholas and Lauren; two brothers , John Frena of Norvelt and Richard Frena and wife, Marie, of Mt. MILFRED ERWIN McCORMICK
Milfred Erwin McCormick, 80, of Laurel Gardens, on Thursday, May 18, 2000. Mr. McCormick was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Fairview, Butler County, a son of Albert Burton McCormick and Sylvia Mae Rimer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Mazzoni McCormick; daughter, Peggy Mahoney of Penn Hills; son, Raymond Milfred McCormick of Upper St. Clair; grandchildren: John Oglesby, Christian Mahoney, Ryan McCormick and Brett Milfred McCormick; brothers , Vernon McCormick of Titusville and Alfred McCormick of Butler. He was preceded in death by his sisters , Eleanor Reinhart and Dorothy Albert. Having enlisted in January 1938, Mr. McCormick was a World War II veteran serving three years with Company C-70th Tank Battalion, which fought against Rommell's forces in North Africa. He then served five years with the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 338th Bomber Squadron-96 Bomber Group, which served as air offenses in Europe - Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. In recognition of his services, he had received the Distinguished Unit Badge, the European-African Service Medal with six bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. McCormick had retired from J.B. Reynolds Glass Company, where he had been a glazer for 15 years. He held memberships with the American Legion - Oakland Post, the West View VFW -Post 2754, the International Brotherhood of Painters & Allied Trades, West View Hunting & Fishing Club, and the Faith Lutheran Church of Laurel Gardens.
