ROBERT D. BARTKO

Robert D. Bartko, 66, of Delmont, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, in his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1933, in McKeesport, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Bartko. Robert was a member of St. John the Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church of Delmont, and was retired from U.S. Steel National Tube Works in McKeesport. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn Yoncheff Bartko; a son, David A. Bartko of Delmont; a daughter, Christine M. Nixon of Towanda, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Bryan Christopher Nixon and Jarrett Brandon Nixon. The family will receive friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Father William McGuirk officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge.

ROLAND F. BREEGLE

Roland F. Breegle, 85, of Irwin, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 1, 1914, in New Cumberstown, Ohio, a son of the late Harry and Marie Long Breegle. He was the owner of Breegle's Contracting Services and also a past president of the American Society of Building and Construction Inspectors. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 236, Irwin, American Legion Post 359, the F.O.E. Aerie 1671, Shidle Lodge 601 F&AM, Greensburg Caravan #8, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Westmoreland Forest 77, and also the Syria Temple Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura E. Peters Breegle; and a sister, Marie Breegle. He is survived by two children, Ronald Breegle of Monroeville and Bonnie Chambers of Hammond, La.; two brothers , George Breegle of Panama City, Fla., and Melvin Breegle of Wichita Falls, Texas ; a sister, Elizabeth Burk of Ardara; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Long Run Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

FRANKLIN J. DUMM JR.

Franklin J. Dumm Jr., 81, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at his home. He was born June 20, 1918, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Franklin and Mirian John Dumm. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a production supervisor for Mine Safety Appliance of Wilkinsburg. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 701 of White Oak, VFW #781 of Irwin, and a member of MSA Retirees Association. He was a Penn State alumnus where he was a member and captain of the basketball team. He attended Scott High School in North Braddock, and was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie Miller Dumm, in August 1977. Surviving are a daughter, Annette Miller of Wilmerding; two sons , James F. and his wife, Marian Dumm, of Charleroi and Paul V. and his wife, Joanne Dumm, of North Huntingdon; 10 grandchildren, Steven, Kimberly, Catherine, Paul, Kenneth and Patrick Miller, Jeffrey, Jared, Lauren and Catherine Dumm; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Paul, Albert, Caprice and Austin. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

(GLADYS) JEANNE FULTZ GARDNER

(Gladys) Jeanne Fultz Gardner, 85, of Greensburg, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 5, 1914, in Mammoth, Pa., the fourth child of the late William Gould Fultz and Mary Baker Fultz. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a member of St. Luke's Church, Youngwood. She was also a 1932 honor graduate of Hurst High School, and she loved reading, gardening and family history. In addition, she was an employee of A.E. Troutman's from 1958 until 1972, when macular degeneration took most of her eyesight. For the past 66 years, she has lived in Youngwood and Hempfield Township. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas, in 1934; her husband of over 50 years, Edmund Johnston Gardner, in 1984; her oldest sister, Elva Hartman, in 1985; both of her brothers , William and James Fultz; and three nieces, Shirley Cunningham Chandler, Dorothy Cunningham Kessler and Gail Cunningham Hamer. She is survived by her son, Jon William Gardner of Hummelstown; her grandson, Sean Edmund Gardner of Hilliard, Ohio; her daughter, Rebecca Joan Gardner of Hempfield Township; her sisters , Margaret Johnston of Youngwood, Christine Metzler of Greensburg RD8, Rebecca Wilder of Milford, Conn., and Dorothy Mintus of Irwin; 17 nieces; and 17 nephews. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Peggy Whalen officiating. Interment in Youngwood Cemetery, Youngwood. The family suggests donations in her name be made to the Carnegie Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, 4724 Baum Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, or the Westmoreland Blind Association, 911 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601.

CLARA E. HOUGH

Clara E. Hough, 91, of Scottdale RD2, East Huntingdon Township, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in the Mon Valley Hospital, Charleroi. She was born Aug. 2l, 1908, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late William and Henrietta Barnhart Clarkson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scottdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Hough, in February 1975; two brothers , James and Ewart Clarkson; and two sisters , Edith Overly and Lucy Titterington. She is survived by her loving family: daughters , Clara E. Tracy and her husband, Leonard, of Corpus Christie, Texas , Nancy Johnston and her husband, Wallace, of Scottdale RD2 and Frances R. Sullivan of Charleroi; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Thelma Haas and her husband, Paul, of Pennsville. Friends will be received Tuesday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MURPHY-CARUSO MEMORIAL HOME, 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. James P. Cordell, officiating. Interment in Scottdale Cemetery, Scottdale.

SCHUYLER C. MARSHALL

Schuyler C. "Jack" Marshall, 83, of California, Pa., died peacefully, with his children at his side, on Saturday, May 13, 2000. He was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Warren, the son of Schuyler and Florence (Watchorn) Marshall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters ; and in 1991, by his wife of 49 years, Doris Rosseau Marshall. He was a retired professor of U.S. and Constitutional History at California University of Pennsylvania . During his lifetime Jack also worked as an usher at Forbes Field, and taught at Langley High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II and a lifelong member of the American Chess Federation. Surviving are his children, Alice M. Cook and husband, David, of Glen Dale, W.Va., and Carl F. Marshall and wife, Christy, with whom he made his home; and seven grandchildren, Steven, Andrea and Suzanne Cook, and Catie, Doris, Schuyler and Arthur Marshall. No visitation. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the United Christian Church, Malden Crossroads, California, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the United Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 532, California, PA 15419, or the California University of Pennsylvania Library. ANDREW R. MILCHICK

Andrew R. Milchick, 81, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Daisytown, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Milchick. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was employed by U.S. Steel, Edgar Thomson Works, Braddock. Mr. Milchick was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Milchick, on Nov. 30, 1999; a brother, Walter Milcheck; and a sister, Margaret Brian. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Milchick of North Huntingdon, Kenneth A. Milchick and his wife, Mary E. "Liz," of Ross Township, Dennis R. Milchick and his wife, Shirley, of Salem, Ohio, Andrea McAfee and her husband, Jim, of Baldwin and Thomas A. Milchick of North Huntingdon; a brother, John Milchick of California; and two grandchildren, David and Tracey Milchick. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, followed by interment in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millennium Fund, St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.

IRENE P. (HELWICH) MUZYN

Irene P. (Helwich) Muzyn, on Friday, May 12, 2000. Peacefully, at age 81, of Lawrenceville. A beautiful woman, inside and out. Born April 5, 1919. Homemaker and Avon representative for 42 years. Beloved wife for 58 years of Michael S. Muzyn. Loving mother of Janice S. and her husband, Wayne P. Anthony. Sister of Frank Helwich of Polish Hill, Loretta Stone of Niceville, Fla., and the late Mary Tessmar, Ben Helwich, Agnes Gally, Anna Drozinski and Tony Helwich. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3201 Dobson St. (Polish Hill), Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Parish, St. Mary Assumption Church (Lawrenceville).

HARRY E. NICKELS

Harry E. Nickels, 68, of North Versailles, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Latrobe, a son of Earl R. Nickels of Latrobe and the late Edna Cooney Nickels. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School, Class of 1948, Indiana University of Pa., Class of 1954, and also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement, he was a physics teacher at Penn Hills High School for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, East McKeesport, where he served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the NEA. In addition to his Father , he is survived by his wife, Louise Lopovich Nickels; a sister, Edna King of Latrobe; two sisters -in-law, Annie Weiland of Turtle Creek and Mary Smouse of Apollo; three brothers -in-law, Joseph Matkowski of Barberton, Ohio, Louis Matkowski of North Versailles and Frank Payne of East Pittsburgh; also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Father John Fedornock officiating. Interment will follow at Plum Creek Cemetery.

EDWARD BITNER PORCH

Edward Bitner Porch, 90, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Kecksburg, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born April 5, 1910, in Kecksburg, a son of the late James Albert and Emma Bitner Porch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna McKenna Porch; a brother, Clyde T. Porch; and two sisters , Jeanne Simpson and Ferne Green; a stepdaughter, Lindy Coughenour; and a stepson, Chauncey McKenna. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the World Book Encyclopedia Company, and was a school teacher for the Hurst High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and also attended the First Brethren Church, both of Sarasota. He was a member of the Lewistown Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Iona Shaffer Porch; a stepdaughter, Shirley Jones Rusinko and her husband, Michael, of Norvelt; a stepson, William McKenna and his wife, Jean, of Bedford, N.H.; a stepson-in-law, George Coughenour of Hollidaysburg; and numerous stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Henry G. SAMUEL SPEWOCK

Samuel Spewock, 76, of Chestnut Ridge Road, Latrobe, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born May 23, 1923, in Derry Township, a son of the late Frank and Pearl Cherup Spewock. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Derry Construction. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Kingston Vets and Sportsmen's Association. Samuel is survived by his wife, Shirley Shrum Spewock; a son, Robert Spewock of Derry; two daughters , Judith Morr of Latrobe and Karen Olson of Chantilly, Va.; two stepdaughters, Terry Hall and her husband, Richard, of Latrobe and Linda Brant of Derry; two stepsons, Gary W. Wannamaker and his wife, Donna, of Youngstown and Kevin L. Wannamaker and his wife, Bonnie, of Ridellatown; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters , Metro Spewock of Export, Theodore and Andy Spewock, Mary Durasky and Julia Kurela, all of Latrobe, and Margaret Avampato of Bel-Air, Md.; also numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry. ARMAND AGOSTINONE

Armand "Gus" Agostinone, retired business owner, 74, of Latrobe (Derry Township), died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Cape Coral, Fla. Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Bradenville, he was the youngest of six children born to Domenic and Antoinette (Mazzachetti) Agostinone. Former owner and operator of the Blue Ridge and Agostinone Mushroom farms in Bradenville, Armand was a parishioner of St. Rose Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was an active member of the Latrobe Elks Lodge 907 and the Coral Oaks Golf Course in Cape Coral. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters , Laura Savenelli, Jennie Banas and Collette "Goldie" Urdzik. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Catherine Churbock Agostinone; his children, Anthony of Annapolis, Md., James and wife, Anne, of Latrobe, Mamie McMaster and husband, Brian, of Brighton, Mich., Armand and wife, Bobbi, of Latrobe, Paula Johns and husband, Billy, of Blairsville, Monica Agostinone-Pineau and husband, John, of Edgewater, Md., and Gennie McCandless and husband, Darren, of Export; his brother, Daniel of Helena, Mont.; a sister, Mary Stachoni and husband, Joseph, of Latrobe; and 12 grandchildren, Ivy and Wesley Harris, Dana, Rena and Lexie Agostinone, Nicola, Catrina and Paula McMaster, Maria and Angela Agostinone, Katie O'Reilly and Johnny Pineau. Friends will be received Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. BARRY J. BAILLEY

Barry J. Bailley, 33, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, May 15, 2000. He was born Dec. 17, 1966, in Jeannette, a son of Shirley Andrewson Bailley and the late Benjamin Bailley. He was the owner of Barry Bailley Contracting, North Huntingdon. He was a graduate of Norwin High School, class of 1984. In addition to his mother , he is survived by three brothers , Robert V. Bailley of North Huntingdon, and William Bailley and Benjamin Bailley, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Betsy Kovac and her husband, Chris, of Irwin; four nieces; three nephews; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday in the funeral home at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery.
