Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

ANDREW R. MILCHICK

Andrew R. Milchick, 81, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Daisytown, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Milchick. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was employed by U.S. Steel, Edgar Thomson Works, Braddock. Mr. Milchick was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Milchick, on Nov. 30, 1999; a brother, Walter Milcheck; and a sister, Margaret Brian. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Milchick of North Huntingdon, Kenneth A. Milchick and his wife, Mary E. "Liz," of Ross Township, Dennis R. Milchick and his wife, Shirley, of Salem, Ohio, Andrea McAfee and her husband, Jim, of Baldwin and Thomas A. Milchick of North Huntingdon; a brother, John Milchick of California; and two grandchildren, David and Tracey Milchick. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, followed by interment in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millennium Fund, St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.

IRENE P. (HELWICH) MUZYN

Irene P. (Helwich) Muzyn, on Friday, May 12, 2000. Peacefully, at age 81, of Lawrenceville. A beautiful woman, inside and out. Born April 5, 1919. Homemaker and Avon representative for 42 years. Beloved wife for 58 years of Michael S. Muzyn. Loving mother of Janice S. and her husband, Wayne P. Anthony. Sister of Frank Helwich of Polish Hill, Loretta Stone of Niceville, Fla., and the late Mary Tessmar, Ben Helwich, Agnes Gally, Anna Drozinski and Tony Helwich. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3201 Dobson St. (Polish Hill), Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Parish, St. Mary Assumption Church (Lawrenceville).

CHRISTOPHER JORDAN NEU

Christopher Jordan Neu, 22, of Franklin Park Borough, unexpectedly on Friday, May 12, 2000, at Clarion University. Beloved son of Rita and Frank W. Neu of Franklin Park. Brother of Robyn R. Lugar of Terre Haute, Ind., Rachel R. Bowen of Portage, Ind., Benjamin W. Neu of Ohio Township and Gabriel J. Neu of Franklin Park Borough. No visitation. Memorial services to be announced at a later date. Christopher was a graduate of North Allegheny High School, a student of Clarion University, and a member of New Community Church. HARRY E. NICKELS

Harry E. Nickels, 68, of North Versailles, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Latrobe, a son of Earl R. Nickels of Latrobe and the late Edna Cooney Nickels. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School, Class of 1948, Indiana University of Pa., Class of 1954, and also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement, he was a physics teacher at Penn Hills High School for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, East McKeesport, where he served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the NEA. In addition to his Father , he is survived by his wife, Louise Lopovich Nickels; a sister, Edna King of Latrobe; two sisters -in-law, Annie Weiland of Turtle Creek and Mary Smouse of Apollo; three brothers -in-law, Joseph Matkowski of Barberton, Ohio, Louis Matkowski of North Versailles and Frank Payne of East Pittsburgh; also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the FORGIE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Father John Fedornock officiating. Interment will follow at Plum Creek Cemetery.

EDWARD BITNER PORCH

Edward Bitner Porch, 90, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Kecksburg, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born April 5, 1910, in Kecksburg, a son of the late James Albert and Emma Bitner Porch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna McKenna Porch; a brother, Clyde T. Porch; and two sisters , Jeanne Simpson and Ferne Green; a stepdaughter, Lindy Coughenour; and a stepson, Chauncey McKenna. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the World Book Encyclopedia Company, and was a school teacher for the Hurst High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and also attended the First Brethren Church, both of Sarasota. He was a member of the Lewistown Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Iona Shaffer Porch; a stepdaughter, Shirley Jones Rusinko and her husband, Michael, of Norvelt; a stepson, William McKenna and his wife, Jean, of Bedford, N.H.; a stepson-in-law, George Coughenour of Hollidaysburg; and numerous stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Henry G. Landis officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Kecksburg. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.

JOHN J. RUGGIERO

John J. Ruggiero, 79, of East McKeesport, on Saturday, May 13, 2000. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a retired employee of Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh Plant. He was a member and presently Commander of the Hilltoppers VFW Post #8430, East McKeesport. Husband of the late Norma "Dolly" (Latsko) Ruggiero. Brother of Rose Cardamone of Turtle Creek, Joseph of Wilmerding, Helen DeStefano of Turtle Creek and Stella Henderson of Virginia. Also nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 12 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church.

SAMUEL SPEWOCK

Samuel Spewock, 76, of Chestnut Ridge Road, Latrobe, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. He was born May 23, 1923, in Derry Township, a son of the late Frank and Pearl Cherup Spewock. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Derry Construction. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Kingston Vets and Sportsmen's Association. Samuel is survived by his wife, Shirley Shrum Spewock; a son, Robert Spewock of Derry; four daughters , Judith Morr and Terry Hall and her husband, Richard, all of Latrobe, Linda Brant of Derry and Karen Spewock; two stepsons, Gary W. Wannamaker and his wife, Donna, of Youngstown and Kevin L. Wannamaker and his wife, Bonnie, of Ridellatown; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters , Metro Spewock of Export, Theodore and Andy Spewock, Mary Durasky and Julia Kurela, all of Latrobe, and Margaret Avampato of Bel-Air, Md.; also numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald A. Brown of Trinity Lutheran Church, Derry, officiating.

STEVE SZUCS

Steve Szucs, 78, of Pittsburgh, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Manor Care, Bethel Park. He was born July 24, 1921, in Sonbor, Yugoslavia, the son of the late Fabian and Olga Pasty Szucs. He is survived by a sister, Cornelia Mecs of Bethel Park; two nieces and two nephews; and several cousins. Steve had been a self-employed dental technician and creative design jeweler. There will be no public viewing. Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Barron Church Cemetery, Rockwood, with the Rev. Joe Posta officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bethlen Home Activity Fund. Arrangements by the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., Ligonier.

EDNA MAE TOROK WEST

Edna Mae Torok West, 65, of Westmoreland City, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in UPMC McKeesport. She was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Greenock, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Kliments Torok. Prior to retirement, she was employed in the customer service department at Big Lots in North Versailles. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Greenock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard West, on May 8, 2000; a son, Gary West; and a brother, Herbert Torok. Surviving are a daughter, Debra and her husband, Thomas Smith, of Irwin; four sons , Jeffrey of Irwin, William of Vandergrift, Martin of Somerset and Jason West of Westmoreland City; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two brothers , Paul Torok of Coulter and Andrew Torok of Coudersport. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Henry, her pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Greenock.

EARL V. WILLIS

Earl V. Willis, 76, on Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Beloved husband of the late Valentina "Tiny" (Grosso) Willis. Devoted Father of James C. and his wife, Nicole Valentin-Willis, and Daniel E. Willis. Brother of Thelma Zimmerman and the late James E. Willis. Mr. Willis was a retired electrical designer for Dravo Corp. and previously worked as a watchmaker for Boggs & Buhl. Viewing hours have been omitted. Service and interment will be private. Earl was a lifelong student, an avid reader and appreciated higher education. Since childhood, he had an interest in horses. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made payable to "BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program," c/o Bureau of Land Management, Nevada State Office, Wild Horse and Burro Program, P.O. Box 12000, Reno, NV 89520-0006, or Carnegie Library, Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, 4724 Baum Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15213. The family plans a future memorial education fund. OZENE MOUBRAY BASTL

Ozene Moubray Bastl, 89, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born April 2, 1911, in Fulton, Ky., a daughter of the late Coe and Nola Wright Moubray. She was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church, North Huntingdon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Bastl; and two brothers , Joseph and James Moubray. She is survived by a son, David F. and his wife, Diane Bastl, of North Huntingdon; and a granddaughter, Kristine Bastl. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Weeber officiating. Interment will follow at Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park.

EARL R. BROWNLEE

Earl R. Brownlee, 80, of Lake Park, Fla., passed away Saturday, May 13, 2000, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, moving to Florida in 1996. Earl was a 1942 graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, and served three and one half years in World War II as a Navy lieutenant. He was a real estate broker and retired as vice president of First Federal Savings and Loan of Pittsburgh. He was a life member of Shrine Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, past president of Hill Top Rotary Club, served as a Dormont councilman in Pittsburgh, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach, Fla., and of the Palm Beach area Alumni Club of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen; three sons , Dr. F. Richard (Diane) Brownlee of Charlottesville, Va., Robert (Bonnie) Brownlee of Columbus, Ohio and David (Barbara) Brownlee of Linden, Mich.; a daughter, Barbara Brownlee of Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Jack Brownlee of Naples, Fla. A son, William, preceded him in death last August. Friends will be received Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the DORSEY FUNERAL HOME, 3525 S. Congress Ave., Lake Worth, FL 33461, (561) 968-0450. Inurnment will be in Allegheny Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County or the National Parkinson's Foundation.

ALBERT E. CINIBULK

Albert E. Cinibulk, 73, of Loyalhanna, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 7, 1927, in Loyalhanna, a son of the late Robert and Roseann Prohaska Cinibulk. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed by Teledyne-Vasco Co. with 36 years of service. He was a member of Local #7297 United Steelworkers of America; Chesky Lev #234 of Loyalhanna; a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in Miramas, France; a member of American Legion Post #515. He had a great passion for nature and found much joy in his flowers and birds, especially the purple Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie Rusenko Cinibulk. Survived by a daughter, Roseann Penrose of Ligonier; a brother, Robert Cinibulk of Loyalhanna; and three sisters , Marian, Irene, and Joann Cinibulk, all of Loyalhanna; also survived by a loving companion, Sibby McLaughlin. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A blessing service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. military services will be held at noon Wednesday in the funeral home.
