AGNES M. (KUNCHER) HEMMINGER
Agnes M. (Kuncher) Hemminger, 77, of Drift Road, Boswell RD, formerly of Westmoreland County, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 21, 1922, in Seager, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Kelly) Kuncher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Hemminger Sr.; two infant sons ; a son, Ronald; a daughter, Margaret Pugner; sisters , Virginia Wall and Betty Grimm; and brothers , Herb, Jim and Buck. She is survived by sons , Albert L. Jr. at home, Robert W., married to the former Nancy G. Long, of Latrobe and John R. at home; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Sister of John of Latrobe, Bill of Boswell RD, Sue Orlandi of Hickory, N.C., Janet Lucas of Kimmelton, Edna Perrine of Vineland, N.J., and Harry of Jennerstown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the HOFFMAN FUNERAL HOME, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Martin Breski, O.F.M. GERTRUDE FAE LEONARD
Gertrude Fae Leonard, 91, of Homestead Avenue, Scottdale, passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2000, in Cedar Ridge Personal Care Home, Ruffsdale. She was born in Scottdale, Nov. 23, 1908, a daughter of the late Lyman and Maude Hoenshel Hixson. Fae was a lifelong resident of Scottdale and a loving mother , grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Scottdale and a member of the FRS Class and Otterbein Guild of the church. She was also a graduate of Scottdale High School with the Class of 1926. She loved growing plants, particularly flowers and tomatoes. Fae is survived by her loving family; her four children, Betty Stover and husband, Max, of Fairfield, Ohio, Keith Leonard and wife, Beverly, of Des Moines, Iowa, Gary Leonard and wife, Betty, of Fort Worth, Texas , and James Leonard and wife, Patricia, of Chesterton, Ind.; her six grandchildren, Michelle Stover Prok, Mark Stover, Christopher Leonard, Shawn Leonard, Dean Leonard and Kate Brisbane; her five great-grandchildren, Corey, Drew and Matthew Prok, and Emily and Sidney Stover; and a sister, Mildred Hite of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In addition to her parents, Fae was preceded in death by her husband, Fred DePriest Leonard, on March 17, 1972; a sister, Hazel Hixson; and two brothers , Lester and J.D. Hixson. Geraldine Ann "Gerri" Lindsey, 60, of Pittsburgh, formerly of North Versailles, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at home. She was born July 1, 1939, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late LaVerne H. and Anna Taldor Lindsey. She was a retired employee of Westinghouse NES Monroeville. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Mon Valley Travel Golf League and the NFD Westinghouse Golf League and also a former employee of Meadowink Golf Course. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Soles. She is survived by a brother, Wilford D. "Bud" Lindsey of North Versailles; two sisters , Bernice Ballough of White Oak and Gloria Cramer and husband, Harry, of North Versailles; nieces and nephews; and her adopted family, Jean Gray and her children, Kimberly and Don Gray. JON MICHAEL (SHAUN) MARTIN
Jon Michael (Shaun) Martin, 37, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Connellsville, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 12, 2000. He was born May 11, 1963, in Connellsville. He was a member of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. He was a graduate of Connellsville Area High School with the Class of 1981. He was formerly employed by Tobias Associates in Ivyland, Pa. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 493 in Connellsville. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Marla Shuma Martin, to whom he was married 5{1/2} years; three sons , Shawn Martin of Waynesboro, Chris Martin of Scottdale, and Logan Martin at home; and a daughter, Nicole Martin of Waynesboro; his Father , Amilio Gallo of Scottdale; his mother , Betty Lewis of Scottdale; also Wilma Younkin of Delaware; the following sisters : Amy Gallo Cornell of Parkersburg, Pa., Christina Crupe of Gaithersburg Md., Jennifer Walker of Acme, Janetta Johnson of Scottdale, Robin Feury of Smithton, Debra Todaro of Fayette City, Vivian Cohen of Concord, N.C., Rebecca Baker of Fayette City, Mechelle Prinkey of Connellsville; and a brother, Cyrus Younkin Jr. of Owensdale. DR. MERRITT J. McCLOY
Dr. Merritt J. McCloy, 92, of Mt. Pleasant RD6, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home. He was born March 24, 1908, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Ira J. and Lily Harbaugh McCloy. Dr. McCloy was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School in 1928, Gettysburg College in 1932, and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1936. He was a practicing physician in Mt. Pleasant for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II as a lieutenant junior grade. He was a member of the Westmoreland Medical Society, the Westmoreland County Sports Hall of Fame and was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks #868 of Mt. Pleasant. Dr. McCloy was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Cochran Lodge F&AM of Dawson, the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Syria Shrine. He was also an avid golfer and coin collector and a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou McCamic McCloy, in 1997. He is survived by a son, Dr. James L. McCloy and his wife, Denise, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Susan) Tack of Worthington, Pa.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Harold McCloy and his wife, Alice, of Bridgeport; and numerous nieces and nephews. RONALD J. MOORHEAD SR.
Ronald J. Moorhead Sr., 52, of Southwest Greensburg, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born July 5, 1947, in Greensburg, a son of Jamison Moorhead of Greensburg and the late Norma Rothlisberger Moorhead. Prior to retirement, he had been the owner and operator of Moorhead Portable Welding of Southwest Greensburg. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Greensburg, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a life member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Hose Co. #3 and also a member of the department's scuba diving team and bloodhound team. Ron was a member of the Pennsylvania State Firemen's Association, Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, VFW Post 33 of Greensburg, American Legion Post 981 of South Greensburg, and the Vietnam Veterans Association of Westmoreland County. In addition to his mother , he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally A. Seaman Moorhead, on June 2, 1986. In addition to his Father , he is survived by his stepmother, Betty Moorhead of Greensburg; a son, Ronald J. Moorhead Jr. of New Stanton; a daughter, Melissa S. Moorhead of Greensburg; his companion, Lynn Pratt; two sisters , Mrs. Charles (Carol A.) Miller of Columbia, S.C., and Mrs. Thomas (Joanne) Sanders of Greensburg; and several nieces, nephews and aunts. Catherine M. Myers, 76, of Newburg, Pa., formerly of Kecksburg, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in the Shippensburg Health Care Center, Shippensburg. She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Alicia, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry Oliver and Mazie Belle Rumbaugh Minerd. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons , George Calvin Myers and Barry Wayne Myers; a son-in-law, Robert P. Patrick; and two brothers , Harry O. Minerd Jr. and Frank Brown. She is survived by her husband, Clarence J. Myers Sr.; two daughters , Marjeanne Patrick of Blairsville and Cathy Sheele of Newburg; a son, Clarence Myers Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Shermans Dale, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eugene J. Puhl Jr., of Green Tree, on Thursday, May 11, 2000. Beloved husband of Betty Dompka Puhl. Dear Father of Richard J. Puhl, Susan Puhl Hareza and the late John Richard Puhl. He was a World War II Army veteran with the 86th Division and served in Germany and the Philippines and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was the historian and member of the board of directors for the 86th Division Blackhawk. Mr. Puhl was also a longtime member of the Clyde Kelly Letter Carriers Marching Band. CATHERINE F. RABATIN
Catherine F. Rabatin, 96, of St. Anne Home, Greensburg, formerly of Connellsville, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at her residence. She was born Nov. 24, 1903, in Leisenring #3, a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Talpas) Rabatin. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Connellsville and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a former employee of the Connellsville Sportswear Corporation as a seamstress. She was a member of F.C.S.L.A., Branch 44. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters , Anna Rabatin and Eva Rabatin; a sister, Irene (Rabatin) Klocek and brother-in-law, Joseph W. Klocek; brother, John A. Rabatin and sister-in-law, Genay (Sodies) Rabatin; a brother, Jacob J. Rabatin and a brother, Adam. She is survived by her loving nephew, Joseph G. Klocek and his wife, Paula A., of Mt. Pleasant; her loving niece, Maureen B. Hannel and her husband, John E., of South River, N.J.; great-nephews, Jeffrey J. Klocek and Michael J. Hannel; great-nieces, Kristin L. Klocek and Katelyn D. Hannel; a sister-in-law, Susan Rabatin of Connellsville; and several other nephews and great-nephews, nieces and great-nieces. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. CHARLES EMERY WARRICK
Charles Emery Warrick, 75, of West Newton, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He was born in West Newton, Sept. 5, 1924, a son of the late Clayburn and Mary (Rearick) Warrick. Mr. Warrick received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He was the owner and pharmacist at Goehring Drug in West Newton for 35 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Newton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later served in the Army Reserves. He was also a member of the VFW of West Newton and the West Newton Moose. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Mae (Schwerha) Warrick; a son, David Michael Warrick of Philadelphia; a daughter, Patricia Warrick Duvall of Dayton, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Jamie Warrick, Sarah Lynne Warrick and Lauren Marie Duvall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Charles Warrick, in 1982; and a brother, Raymond Warrick. EVELYN I. CLINE
Evelyn I. Cline, 79, of Derry, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 17, 1921, in Newport, Pa., a daughter of the late George Ambrose Bonsall Sr. and Flossie E. Meloy Bonsall. She was a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church, a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. She liked working at the Derry Agricultural Fair and helped with the"Shepherds Lunch." Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cline, on March 2, 2000; a brother, Edward Eugene Bonsall; and a daughter, Margaret Ann Cline. She is survived by two daughters , Evelyn I. and her husband, Dr. Tjalle T. Vandergraaf of Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada, and Nancy L. Cline of Blairsville; three sons , Robert E. and his wife, Karen Cline, of Apollo, Charles E. and his wife, Christine Cline, of Mechesneytown and George R. and his wife, Brenda Cline, of Jacksonville, Ala.; a brother, George A. Bonsall Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Marysville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. HOMER WILLIAM KERN
Homer William Kern, 74, of Normalville, died suddenly Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in the Memorial Hospital, Bainbridge, Ga., while attending his annual Army reunion. He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Mill Run, a son of the late Homer and Maude Firestone Kern. Homer was a lifelong resident of the Normalville area and retired after 50 years as a self-employed truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in both the European and Pacific Theatres in Company 1, 341st Infantry Regiment, 86th Division, of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Donegal VFW #6743. Homer served as Springfield Township supervisor for 12 years. He was a member of the Somerset Truckers Association and was a member of the Critchfield Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Idella Prinkey Kern, with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on July 6, 2000; two sons , Ernest W. Kern and his wife, Dora, of Upper St. Clair and Eric R. Kern and his wife, Deanna, of Normalville; a daughter, Margie S. Moore and her husband, Garry, of Normalville; his grandchildren, Amanda and David Kern, Marlis, Carina and Caleb Moore, Mollie, Erica, Michael and Jacob Kern; a brother, Rayburn Kern of Normalville; and three sisters , Nettie Pritts of Mill Run, Martha Stark of Warren, Ohio, and Pauline Brewer of Normalville. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Kern.
