ALDO L. CENGIA

Aldo L. Cengia, 73, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Johnstown. Born Feb. 6, 1927, in Elkins, Pa., a son of Joseph and Romana Fiching Cengia. Preceded in death by parents; brothers , Atilo and Alfred; and an infant sister. Survived by his wife, the former Louise Mroczka; sons , James R., married to Monica Schroeder, of Centerville, Ohio, Dr. Dennis, married to Pamela Bytheway, of Greensburg, and Mark J. of Armagh; and grandchildren, Brent, Michael, Gail, Suzanne, Timothy, and Douglas. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, where he served as church usher. He was a retired bridge structural and ornamental iron worker with 30 years service. Also a member of Local #3 Union, Pittsburgh; Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree; VFW Post #7022, Seward; life member of the Seward Volunteer Fire Department; and an Army veteran serving in Germany from 1945 to 1952. His death ends his marriage union of 46 years, and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the JON A. MEESE FUNERAL HOME, Seward. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, with the Rev. Edward McCullough as celebrant. military rites in charge of local organizations. Knights of Columbus memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

RICHARD P. COPPULA

Richard P. Coppula, 72, of Mt. Pleasant RD7, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Friends received Tuesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Matusak officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. military rites will be conducted at the memorial park by American Legion Post #446 of Mt. Pleasant.

EDGAR WILLIAM DONALDSON SR.

Edgar William Donaldson Sr., 82, of Delmont, formerly of East McKeesport and Lake Worth, Fla., died Sunday, May 7, 2000. He was born July 29, 1917, in Turtle Creek, a son of the late Edgar and Margaret Dixon Donaldson. He graduated from Union High School and attended Columbia University. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radarman during World War II. Mr. Donaldson retired in 1972 as an administrative officer with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was an Eagle Scout in his youth and later served as a scout master in Morgantown, W.Va. He was a life member of the East McKeesport Fire Company #2 and was also a life member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #548. A lifelong Episcopalian, Mr. Donaldson was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Greensburg, and previously was a warden, Lay Reader, and Sunday school superintendent of the former St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Wilmerding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters , Margaret D. Retzler, Alice D. Mattern and Virginia D. Green. Mr. Donaldson is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Weaver Donaldson; his children, Edgar W. Donaldson Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Gulf Port, Fla., Barbara D. Jennings and her husband, Charles, of McKeesport, and Rebecca D. Vesely and her husband, James, of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sisters , Ellen D. Coleman of Wilkinsburg and Grace D. Brady of North Huntingdon. Friends received Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. Lawrence Knotts officiating. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Full military services will be accorded by the VFW Post #33 at Brush Creek Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 122 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601 or to the Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601.

CHARLES B. DUKE

Charles B. Duke, of Jefferson Hills, died Monday, May 8, 2000. Husband of Grace A. Duke. Father of Thomas A. (Donna) Duke, David C. (Nina) Duke of New Cumberland and Aileen D. (George) Gallatin. Grandfather of Tracey, Amy, Mary, Susan and Peter Duke, and Steven and Andrew Gallatin. Son of the late Harry T. and Mabel Duke of Elizabeth. Brother of Mary Duke Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood. Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. in Trinity Cathedral. LUCY E. RODY

Lucy E. Rody, 81, of New Alexandria, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 28, 1918, in Salem Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Speal Rody. She was a beautician for more than 40 years, retiring from Doris Heasley's Beauty Salon. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in New Alexandria, and its Rosary and Altar Society. She also belonged to the St. Bartholomew's Fellowship Association. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters , Antoinette Balik and Frances Barron. She is survived by a sister, Lena Fantini of New Alexandria; three nieces, Mary K. Ruffner, Nancy Tamborino and Diane Barron; and two nephews, George Barron and Richard Balik. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Lawrence T. Persico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township. The Rosary and Altar Society will pray the rosary Thursday at 3 p.m.

ELEANOR VARGO SPERN

Eleanor Vargo Spern, 76, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Hempfield Township. She was born March 30, 1924, in Salem Township, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Kaiser) Vargo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Spern; and a sister, Betty Vargo. She is survived by two sons , William L. Spern of Chattanooga, Tenn., and David P. Spern of Scottdale; two daughters , Jessica Inglefield of Maryland and Sondra Becker of Tanneytown, Md.; and 10 grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, Irwin.

JOSEPH (BRKLYCICA) BERK

Joseph (Brklycica) Berk, 83, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Greensburg, a son of the late Stephen and Margaret Tepper Brklycica. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a machinist with the Elliott Company in Jeannette. Joe was a former Scout leader with Troop 229 and oversaw six young men who became Eagle Scouts. In 1961-62, he was voted Outstanding Scout Leader of the Westmoreland-Fayette Council. He was a member of Roosevelt Club of Greensburg and the Polish White Eagles and the Jeannette Fort Pitt Sportsmen's Club. He was also a member of the Woodcarving Society and the Famous Poet Society. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Hixson; a brother, Peter Brklycica; and three sisters , Margaret Ann Poole, Catherine Springer and Helen Kivala. He is survived by a son, Stephen F. Berk of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda Bottegal of Greensburg; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers , Stephen Berk of Seattle, Wash., and John Edward Berk of Greensburg; and four sisters , Anna Burk of Bovard, Margaret Thompson of New Florence and Ethel Overly and Matilda Byrk, both of Greensburg. There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in the St. Clair Cemetery, Hempfield Township, Friday at noon. BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, Greensburg, is in charge of arrangements.

EVELYN I. CLINE

Evelyn I. Cline, 79, of Derry, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 17, 1921, in Newport, Pa., a daughter of the late George Ambrose Bonsall Sr. and Flossie E. Meloy Bonsall. She was a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church, a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. She liked working at the Derry Agricultural Fair and helped with the"Shepherds Lunch." Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cline, on March 2, 2000; a brother, Edward Eugene Bonsall; and a daughter, Margaret Ann Cline. She is survived by two daughters , Evelyn I. and her husband, Dr. Tjalle T. Vandergraaf of Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada, and Nancy L. Cline of Blairsville; three sons , Robert E. and his wife, Karen Cline, of Apollo, Charles E. and his wife, Christine Cline, of Mechesneytown and George R. and his wife, Brenda Cline, of Jacksonville, Ala.; a brother, George A. Bonsall Jr. and his wife, Shirley, of Marysville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where services will be conducted at 8 p.m. with the Rev. F. Neal Galley officiating. Memorials may be given to the Latrobe Area Hospital Cancer Unit or the Pediatrics Unit.

JOSEPHINE A. COLBAUGH

Josephine A. Colbaugh, 88, of Monroeville, on Tuesday, May 9, 2000. She was born Oct. 14, 1911, in Star Junction, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Brunclik. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Colbaugh. She is survived by her daughter, Nicki Lynn Gibson of Irwin; and grandchildren, Kimberly Gibson of Pittsburgh, and Erik and Jaclyn Gibson, both of Irwin. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CENTER OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Dr. James Ritchie officiating. Interment Restland Cemetery, Monroeville.

ELDA SWENSON COLE

Elda Swenson Cole, 96, of Greensburg, formerly of Irwin, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at LAS Crownpointe, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 8, 1903, in Irwin, a daughter of the late Ernest and Esther Solberg Swenson. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Greensburg, where she was active in the Mary Martha Circle. She had been a former volunteer with the Tri-City Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. Myron E. Cole; a son, Myron E. Cole Jr.; a brother, Roy Swenson; and a sister, Wilma Vial. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Gourley of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, William C. Gourley III, Nancy Poston and Judy Quyle; and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. E. Allen Scanlon officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwin Union Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with the First Lutheran Church, 246 S. Main St., Greensburg.

JEFFREY M. DeMARCHI

Jeffrey M. DeMarchi, 41, of Harrison City, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1959, in Jeannette, a son of Virginia Mae Zackel DeMarchi of Claridge and the late William M. DeMarchi. He was a social member of the Bushy Run American Legion Post 260 in Claridge, the Diaz Club in Jeannette and the Slovenian Home in Claridge. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rebecca Visnick DeMarchi; a son, Stephen M. DeMarchi at home; two brothers , Ronald DeMarchi of Claridge and William and wife, Cheryl DeMarchi, of Penn Township; and a niece, Gabrielle. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. V. Paul Fitzmaurice officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

ELMA ZANELLA EYLER

Elma Zanella Eyler, 82, of Irwin, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born April 8, 1918, in Irwin, a daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Zanella. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Irwin, and the United Church of Christ of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She was a graduate of Norwin High School, Class of 1935, and Grace Martin Business School of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 400, Irwin, the Greensburg Country Club, the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, Sugar Mill Country Club of New Smyrna Beach, and a member of the Irwin Garden Club for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Corrin Zanella; and a sister, Caroline Riebe. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jess W. Eyler; and a son, Jack Eyler and his wife, Diane, of Santa Monica, Calif. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First United Church of Christ, Irwin, with the Rev. Robbin R. Clouser officiating. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery.

EDWIN A. LEWANDOWSKI

Edwin A. "Termite" Lewandowski, 76, of McClure Road, Mt. Pleasant (McClure), died early Wednesday morning, May 10, 2000, at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in McClure, a son of the late Alex A. Lewandowski, who died Feb. 26, 1999, and Frances R. Gesinski Lewandowski, who died March 6, 1980. Edwin was a life member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, and of the community of McClure. He was a retired millwright with U.S. Steel, Homestead Works, with 40 years of service. Edwin was a social member of the Scottdale VFW Post, Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post, and a regular member of the Mt. Pleasant Slovak Club. Edwin leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted children, William B. Lewandowski of Everson, Steven M. Lewandowski and his wife, Alice, of Scottdale, Marianne Riggar and her husband, William, of Mt. Pleasant, Lisa M. Lewandowski of McClure, Dolores L. Weir and her husband, James, of Greensburg, Anthony P. Lewandowski and his wife, Renea, of Scottdale, Elizabeth S. Lewandowski of McClure, Daniel A. Lewandowski of Mt. Pleasant, Margaret Kern and her husband, Terry, of Mt. Pleasant, and Kenneth L. Lewandowski of McClure; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Leah, Tony, Tyler, Ryan, and Tiffany Lewandowski, Jacob and Luke Weir; two brothers and two sisters , Joseph Lewandowski of Mt. Pleasant RD, Theresa A. Sakal of Seven Hills, Ohio, Mary Miele and her husband, Henry, of Mt. Pleasant, and Leonard J. Lewandowski and his wife, Bernadette, of Alexandria, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Weimer Lewandowski, who died Aug. 28, 1986; an infant son in 1955; four brothers , Raymond S. "Pete" Lewandowski, who died April 9, 1982, Daniel Lewandowski, who died Sept. 23, 1959, Bernard Lewandowski, who died in 1944, and William Lewandowski in infancy; and a sister, Genevieve Lewandowski in infancy. Friends will be received in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson, with his pastor, the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery, Everson. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, in memory of Edwin A. Lewandowski.
