Ethel E. Trout Kane, 68, of Hunker, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 31, 1931, in New Stanton, a daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Monola Sprinkle Trout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus M. Kane; four brothers , Clifford Trout, Gilbert Trout, Luther Trout, and Richard Trout; and a sister, Ruth Hoak. Survived by two sons , Jack Copley and wife, Jessica, of Mt. Pleasant and Barry H. Copley of Hunker; five grandchildren, James Copley and wife, Ashley, Jason Copley and wife, Jodi, Sean Copley, Keisha Meadows, and Joshua Meadows; a great-grandchild, James Connor Copley; two sisters , Mrs. Anthony (Betty) Emanuele of Greensburg and Mrs. Norman (Evelyn) Accipiter of Gastonia, N.C.; and a brother, Fred C. Chester A. "Chip" Lewandowski Jr., 50, of Enfield, Conn., formerly of Polish Hill and Manor, on Tuesday, May 2, 2000. Beloved husband of Maryann Ross Lewandowski. Devoted Father of Chester A. III and wife, Patience, and Michael and wife, Michelle. Grandfather of Corey and Tyler. Beloved son of Chester "Chip" Sr. and Anna Lewandowski of Polish Hill. Brother of Kenneth and David and his wife, Beth Ann. Son-in-law of Thomas Ross and the late Sarah Ross of Greensburg. Funeral services were held at St. Bernard Church, Enfield, Conn., Saturday, May 6. The family requests donations in his memory to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Polish Hill.
LUCY E. RODY
Lucy E. Rody, 81, of New Alexandria, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 28, 1918, in Salem Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Speal Rody. She was a beautician for more than 40 years, retiring from Doris Heasley's Beauty Salon. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in New Alexandria, and its Rosary and Altar Society. She also belonged to the St. Bartholomew's Fellowship Association. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters , Antoinette Balik and Frances Barron. She is survived by a sister, Lena Fantini of New Alexandria; three nieces, Mary K. Ruffner, Nancy Tamborino and Diane Barron; and two nephews, George Barron and Richard Balik. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Lawrence T. Persico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township. The Rosary and Altar Society will pray the rosary Thursday at 3 p.m.

Edith Rodriquez, 83, of West Newton, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the home of her sister-in-law, Mildred Guerrieri, in Herminie. Born in Keystone, July 1, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Montini) Guerrieri. Mrs. Rodriquez worked for Palmer Manufacturing Co. and she was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in West Newton and the C.D. of A. She is survived by her three sisters , Mrs. Angeline Guerrieri of Herminie, Mrs. Viola Marshall of Irwin, and Mrs. Ann Dennis of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Rodriquez; three brothers , Geno, Tony, and Charles Guerrieri; and two sisters , Mary Barnhart and Virginia Manusetti. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the RICHARD F. DODSON MEMORIAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, West Newton, with the Rev. Thomas W. Rogers presiding. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.

Eleanor Vargo Spern, 76, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Hempfield Township. She was born March 30, 1924, in Salem Township, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Kaiser) Vargo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Spern; and a sister, Betty Vargo. She is survived by two sons , William L. Spern of Chattanooga, Tenn., and David P. Spern of Scottdale; two daughters , Jessica Inglefield of Maryland and Sondra Becker of Tanneytown, Md.; and 10 grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by the VINCENT V. RICHARD W. WEST
Richard W. "Bill" West, 68, of Westmoreland City, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in the McKeesport Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1932, in Elizabeth Township, a son of the late Cyril and Emily Schwirian West. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a driver for Social Security Taxi. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving with the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the St. Joe's Polish Club and a social member of Westmoreland City, Shafton, and North Irwin V.F.D. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary West. Surviving are his wife, Edna Mae Torok West; four sons , Jeffrey of Irwin, William of Vandergrift, Martin of Somerset, and Jason West of Westmoreland City; a daughter, Debra Smith of Irwin; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers , Cyril West of Lindsay, Okla., and Kenneth West of McKeesport; and a sister, Shirley Hays of Buffalo, N.Y. Leslie Alberts Lampl, on Sunday morning, May 7, 2000. Leslie Alberts Lampl of McCandless Township, peacefully passed away at her home with her husband, Robert O Lampl, at her side, after a long struggle with breast cancer. Leslie, at the young age of 43, received her last rites early in the morning from Father James Root, paster of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church. Leslie was a devoted, loving mother of two sons , Ross Corky Lampl, age 10, and Sy Oscar Lampl, age 8. She was also the wife of Robert O Lampl, a Pittsburgh attorney. Survived by her Father , Walter "Corky" Alberts, retired assistant superintendent of the Allegheny County Police Dept., who is presently on the staff of Supreme Court Justice, Ralph Cappy; her mother , Dolores Mahfood Alberts; and her brother, Michael G. Alberts. Leslie has two stepchildren, Michelle Elizabeth Lampl and Elsie Rose Lampl, who reside in Pittsburgh. She has 13 nieces and nephews. Leslie, a native and long-time resident of Pittsburgh, graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Her career, as an office manager and paralegal, was with her devoted husband, partner, and best friend for their law firm which specializes in bankruptcy law. RAYMOND SAMUEL LAVALLE SR.
Raymond Samuel LaValle Sr., 62, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Jeannette, died Friday, May 5, 2000. He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Jeannette, a son of the late Samuel D. LaValle Jr. and Loretta Pandolph LaValle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Domnick M. LaValle. He was a former deputy sheriff in Hot Springs, Ark., worked for the city of Evansville Water and Utilities Department for 26 years, and was a lieutenant for AA State Security. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Rifle Association, the Owls, the Eagles and Teamsters Local 215, all in Evansville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and received the National Defense Service medal. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joyce LaValle; five sons , Ray Jr. of Vidor, Texas , Michael and Gary, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Joe of Fairbanks, Ind., and Jessie of Waukesha, Wis.; two stepchildren; two brothers , Joseph of Hot Springs and Samuel of Beaumont, Texas ; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Services with military rites accorded at graveside and interment will be Monday, May 8, in Evansville.
LOUISE S. RASSMANN
Louise S. Rassmann, 97, of Greensburg, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, after a brief illness, at New Haven Court, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 11, 1903, in Emden, Germany, a daughter of the late Otto and Luise Seiler Hahn. She was a retired manager of a maternity store in New York, and had been a member of the Harrold Zion Lutheran Church in Greensburg since moving to Greensburg. She had moved from Germany to the United States in 1925. She was formerly active with the Senior Group at the McKenna Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Rassmann, whom she married in 1927; two brothers ; and three sisters . Surviving are her son, Frank Rassmann and wife, Marilyn, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Nancy Domres and husband, David, of Wisconsin, Robert Rassmann and wife, Jane, of Massachusetts and Thomas Rassmann and wife, Natalie, of New Jersey; and seven great-grandchildren, Michael and Laura Domres, and Allison, Karl, Kayla, Matthew and Kelsey Rassmann. Friends will be received Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of services, at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. Robert Free officiating. Interment will be held Saturday in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Wis. Glenn Thornton, 64, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph R. and Gertrude Slonecker Thornton. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a union electrician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the L.O.O.M. 236 of Irwin, the Herminie-Wendel Athletic Association and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Thornton; and four brothers , Alvin, Albert, Wendell and Joseph Jr. Surviving are his wife, Veda Yeager Thornton; two daughters , Debbie and her husband, Colin Hildenbrand, of Arona and Mary Beth Thornton of Trafford; two sons , Glenn Thornton Jr. of Irwin and Brian Thornton, stationed with the U.S. Army in Korea; six grandchildren, Adam, Lindsay, Afton and Connor Proctor and Melanie and Joshua Thornton; and several nieces and nephews. Angela Tomasello, 88, formerly of West Newton, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. Born April 22, 1912, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Nunzio and Ida Fanelli Perugini. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Tomasello. Surviving are a daughter, Frances Phillips of Irwin; a son, Vincent Tomasello of North Huntingdon; a brother, O'Lindo "Perry" Perugini of Florida; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Nunzio Tomasello, in England; a sister, Linda Melodia; and a brother, Gino Perugini.
