Laura A. Morelli, 80, of White Valley, died Monday, May 1, 2000. She was born April 22, 1920, in Export, a daughter of the late Peter and Tresa "Tracy" Arbore Morelli. Also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Morelli. Laura was a retired employee of General Tire of Jeannette and a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Delmont. She is survived by a sister, Martha Morelli of White Valley; a nephew, Bernard and wife, Cheryl; a niece, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Harper; and great-nieces and nephews, Mrs. Michael (Michelle) Brix, Michael and Caleb Harper, Nicole and Krista Morelli. Also survived by many cousins. Friends received at the EDWIN N. JENNIE A. PLANINSEK
Jennie A. Planinsek, 91, of Latrobe, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 17, 1908, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances Smith Kebe. She was a member of St. Cecilia Church, Whitney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Planinsek Sr., on April 1, 1997; three brothers , Louis, Edward and John Kebe; and three sisters , Mary Cvitkovic, Frances Bradish and Irma Piazza. Survivors include a son, Louis J. Planinsek Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Bel Air, Md.; three daughters , Joanna Dorko and her husband, Emil, of Bradenville RR1, Ernestine "Teena" Anania and her husband, John, of Wexford and Dr. Frances Planinsek of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, William Kebe of Greensburg; two sisters , Margaret Bell and Evangeline Saffron, both of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Suzanne Dorko, James Dorko, Carol Dorko, Kenneth Dorko, Elizabeth Goodwin and Vivian Fuchs; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Austin, Luke, Paige, Ethan, Emary and Spencer; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will be private.
THOMAS A. ROCK
Thomas A. Rock, 68, of Hannastown, died Monday, May 1, 2000, in the Integrated Health Services at Mountain View, Unity Township. He was born March 29, 1932, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late John and Anna Kula Rock. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree, and the Hannastown Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by several cousins. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., the time of a blessing service in the funeral home with the Rev. Luke E. Policicchio, O.S.B., officiating. Private interment will follow in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Unity Township.
EDMUND D. ROTHWELL
Edmund D. "Bud" Rothwell, 85, of North Irwin, died Sunday, April 30, 2000. Born April 26, 1915, in Cowansburg, Pa., a son of the late Edward and Mary (Shoaf) Rothwell. He graduated from Sewickley Township High School, Class of 1933. He was retired from the maintenance department at Westinghouse Electric East Pittsburgh Works and also was a self-employed building contractor for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Irwin and was a former administrative board member of the church. He was a former North Irwin councilman; and a member of the North Irwin Planning Commission and the North Irwin Volunteer Fire Department. Also he was a member of Shidle Lodge F&AM #601, Syria Shrine Temple of Pittsburgh and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Steel), who died in 1998; a brother, Earl Rothwell; and sisters , Eleen Leet, Edna Hall, Catherine Broker, and Elsie Luke. Survived by a son, William S. Rothwell of Irwin; a sister, Jean Tucker of Monroeville; four grandchildren, Susan Koury and husband, George, of North Huntingdon, Timothy Rothwell and wife, Traci, of North Huntingdon, Dann Rothwell and wife, Renee, of Hempfield Township, and David Rothwell of Irwin; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. SAMUEL R. SCHRODER
Samuel R. Schroder, 67, of Manor Borough, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 1, 2000, in Jeannette. He was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Manor, a son of the late Howard O. and Dorothy (Spackman) Schroder. He was a special freight distribution manager at Conrail for 39 years. He was a member of the Gideons International, former president of Westmoreland County Library Association, and president of the Manor Public Library. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Manor, chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of White Mountain Lodge. Also he was a trumpet player for a local group, "The Keyboards, Horn, and Jane." He was an accomplished oil painting artist and was a former member of the Norwin Art League. He devoted years to community affairs in Manor. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Scheuerle) Schroder; a son, Jeffrey Schroder and wife, Charlene, of Manor; a daughter, Diane Brown and husband, Thomas, of Greensburg; and six grandchildren, Melissa Schroder, Amy Schroder, Christina Schroder, Joshua Schroder, Taylor Brown, and Andrew Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard F. Schroder; a sister, Meredith Allshouse; and a grandson, Jason Schroder. Friends received at the VINCENT V. VIOLA M. (FABRYCKI) SPRINGER
Viola M. (Fabrycki) Springer, 57, of Uniontown, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Beverly Health Care, Uniontown, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1942, in Martin, the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Sophie L. (Dudkiewicz) Fabrycki. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Fabrycki Jr.; and a sister, Antoinette M. Plourde, on March 25, 2000. She was manager of One-Hour Martinizing in Uniontown until her illness. She truly loved her work, and was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband and childhood sweetheart, Holbert J. Springer Sr.; her children, Holbert J. Springer Jr. and wife, Rena, of Uniontown, Holly D'Amico and husband, Matthew, of Greensburg, and her baby, Jamie Kuritz and husband, Daniel, of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Alyssa and Matthew; brothers and sisters , Loretta McManmon of Boise, Idaho, Theodore Fabrycki of Amston, Conn., John Fabrycki of Uniontown, Richard Fabrycki of Allison #2, Sylvia Burnsworth of Allison #2, Stanley Fabrycki of Hartford, Conn., and Walter Fabrycki of Hartford, Conn. Catherine Fadrosh Swiderski, 89, of Mt. Pleasant RD4, formerly of Brinkerton, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Passaic, N.J., a daughter of the late Ignatius and Ursula (Mokrzycki) Fadrosh. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Calumet. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Westinghouse, Youngwood, and previously worked for Porceliar of South Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and by the following brothers and sister, John and Joseph Fadrosh and Estella Fadrosh Keifer. Survived by two sons , Charles Swiderski and his wife, Lois, of Mt. Pleasant and William Swiderski and his wife, Victoria, also of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, David Swiderski and his wife, Tammy, Karen Kepple and her husband, Craig, Charles W. Swiderski, and Kathy Gilkey and her husband, Rick; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Gilkey, and Sean and Skylar Swiderski; a sister, Mary Sistek and her husband, Charles, of Mt. WILLIAM H. WELCH
William H. Welch, 70, of Homosassa (Sugarmill Woods), Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Friday, April 28, 2000, in Tampa, Fla. He was born in Greensburg, a son of Frances Welch of Sun City, Fla., and the late William H. Welch. He was director of materials management at Borg-Warner, Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River, Fla., a past member of the Elks Lodge in Homosassa, the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., past president of the Citrus County Audubon Society, and co-chairman of Citrus 20/20 and the Citrus County Code Enforcement Board. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Welch; a son, Richard K. Welch of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters , Wendy L. Welch and Linda A. Welch, both of Washington , D.C.; two sisters , Nancy Smith of Greensburg and Linda Meadows of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Wayne D. Bossart, 63, of Pleasant Unity, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Pleasant Unity, a son of the late Arch H. and Catherine C. (Myers) Bossart. Prior to retirement, he worked for Operating Engineers Local 66 of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Richard J., Carl V. and Jerry Bossart. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Miller) Bossart; two sons , Wayne A. Bossart and his friend, Kathy, and Mark E. Bossart and wife, Lorraine, all of Pleasant Unity; six grandchildren, Jeremey, Josh, Jeff, Katie, Christopher and Brian; his sister, Mrs. Ray (Isabelle) McGinnis of Youngwood; two brothers , Archie N. and wife, Elsie, of Pleasant Unity and Samuel S. and wife, Fran Bossart, of Greensburg RD2; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Frances R. Ciocca, 88, formerly of Grapeville, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in the Beverly Healthcare Center in Murrysville. She was born June 21, 1911, in Italy, a daughter of the late John and Maria Felice Basile. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former National Plastics Corp. of Jeannette, and was a member of the Ascension Church of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alesandro Ciocca, in 1955; two sons , John and Alex Ciocca; two brothers , Nick and Frank Basile; and three sisters , Mary Peperato, Angeline Petrill and Ann Salvatore. She is survived by a sister, Camile Basile of Jeannette; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. She attended the Christian Science Church of Greensburg and was a member of the F.O. Eagles of Scottdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Curtis; a son, Dale Curtis; an infant daughter, Alice Curtis; six brothers , Bernard, Harry, Fred, George, Ralph and Charles Walker; and two sisters , Jane Swope and Ruth Cunningham. She is survived by a son, Kenneth H.
