Nellie Camp Smith, 96, of Swissvale, on Friday, April 28, 2000, in the Presbyterian Senior Care Home. Mrs. Smith was born April 10, 1904, in Garrett County, Maryland, to the late John and Amanda Camp. She was the wife of the late Jonas W. Smith. Beloved mother of Robert Smith and his wife, Dolores, of the state of California, Donna Dougherty of Swissvale, John Smith and his wife, Patricia, of Swissvale, Eileen Karnavas and her husband, James, of the North Hills and Nina Milliron and her husband, Robert, of Jeannette. Also survived by 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Friends received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. SUNDAY ONLY at the THOMAS L. Mary Stricek, 71, of Belle Vernon RD4, died Friday, April 28, 2000, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. She was born April 4, 1928, in Monongahela, a daughter of the late John and Anna Matinko. Mary was the co-owner of the former J and M Bar in West Newton. She was a member of the AARP. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stricek, in 1995; and four brothers , Michael, Johnny, Andrew and Joseph Matinko. Mary is survived by a daughter Carol Ann Pearson of Orange, Calif.; a brother, Edward Matinko of Pottstown, Pa.; a sister, Ann Olenski of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the RICHARD F. DODSON MEMORIAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday, May 2, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.

Mary E. (Billy) Sveda, 91, of Lynnwood-Belle Vernon, died Friday, April 28, 2000. She was born April 5, 1909, in Lowber (Sewickley Township), the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Liptak) Billy. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Fayette City. Wife of the late Michael Sveda. She is survived by two sons , Michael J. (Thelma) Sveda of Fayette City RD and Thomas G. (Florence) Sveda of Charleroi; a daughter, Joanne (Edward) Wiggins of Lynnwood-Belle Vernon; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons. Laura A. Morelli, 80, of White Valley, died Monday, May 1, 2000. She was born April 22, 1920, in Export, a daughter of the late Peter and Tresa "Tracy" Arbore Morelli. Also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Morelli. Laura was a retired employee of General Tire of Jeannette and a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Delmont. She is survived by a sister, Martha Morelli of White Valley; a nephew, Bernard and wife, Cheryl; a niece, Mrs. Thomas (Christine) Harper; and great-nieces and nephews, Mrs. Michael (Michelle) Brix, Michael and Caleb Harper, Nicole and Krista Morelli. Jennie A. Planinsek, 91, of Latrobe, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 17, 1908, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances Smith Kebe. She was a member of St. Cecilia Church, Whitney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Planinsek Sr., on April 1, 1997; three brothers , Louis, Edward and John Kebe; and three sisters , Mary Cvitkovic, Frances Bradish and Irma Piazza. Survivors include a son, Louis J. Planinsek Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Bel Air, Md.; three daughters , Joanna Dorko and her husband, Emil, of Bradenville RR1, Ernestine "Teena" Anania and her husband, John, of Wexford and Dr. Frances Planinsek of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, William Kebe of Greensburg; two sisters , Margaret Bell and Evangeline Saffron, both of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Suzanne Dorko, James Dorko, Carol Dorko, Kenneth Dorko, Elizabeth Goodwin and Vivian Fuchs; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Austin, Luke, Paige, Ethan, Emary and Spencer; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. THOMAS A. ROCK
Thomas A. Rock, 68, of Hannastown, died Monday, May 1, 2000, in the Integrated Health Services at Mountain View, Unity Township. He was born March 29, 1932, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late John and Anna Kula Rock. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree, and the Hannastown Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by several cousins. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., the time of a blessing service in the funeral home with the Rev. SAMUEL R. SCHRODER
Samuel R. Schroder, 67, of Manor Borough, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 1, 2000, in Jeannette. He was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Manor, a son of the late Howard O. and Dorothy (Spackman) Schroder. He was a special freight distribution manager at Conrail for 39 years. He was a member of the Gideons International, former president of Westmoreland County Library Association, president of the Manor Public Library, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Manor, chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee, and White Mountain Lodge and Church. Also he was a trumpet player for a local group, "The Keyboards, Horn, and Jane." He was an accomplished oil painting artist and was a former member of the Norwin Art League. He devoted years to community affairs in Manor. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Scheuerle) Schroder; a son, Jeffrey Schroder and wife, Charlene, of Manor; a daughter, Diane Brown and husband, Thomas, of Greensburg; and six grandchildren, Melissa Schroder, Amy Schroder, Christina Schroder, Joshua Schroder, Taylor Brown, and Andrew Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard F. Schroder; a sister, Meredith Allshouse; and a grandson, Jason Schroder. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. CATHERINE FADROSH SWIDERSKI
Catherine Fadrosh Swiderski, 89, of Mt. Pleasant RD4, formerly of Brinkerton, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Passaic, N.J., a daughter of the late Ignatius and Ursula (Mokrzycki) Fadrosh. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Calumet. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Westinghouse, Youngwood, and previously worked for Porceliar of South Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and by the following brothers and sister, John and Joseph Fadrosh and Estella Fadrosh Keifer. Survived by two sons , Charles Swiderski and his wife, Lois, of Mt. Pleasant and William Swiderski and his wife, Victoria, also of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, David Swiderski and his wife, Tammy, Karen Kepple and her husband, Craig, Charles W. Swiderski, and Kathy Gilkey and her husband, Rick; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kayla Gilkey, and Sean and Skylar Swiderski; a sister, Mary Sistek of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Michael Fadrosh and his wife, Gladys, of Norvelt; and a sister-in-law, Mary Fadrosh of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received at the JAY A. William H. Welch, 70, of Homosassa (Sugarmill Woods), Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Friday, April 28, 2000, in Tampa, Fla. He was born in Greensburg, a son of Frances Welch of Sun City, Fla., and the late William H. Welch. He was director of materials management at Borg-Warner, Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River, Fla., a past member of the Elks Lodge in Homosassa, the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., past president of the Citrus County Audubon Society, and co-chairman of Citrus 20/20 and the Citrus County Code Enforcement Board. In addition to his mother , he is survived by a son, Richard K. Welch of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters , Wendy L. Welch and Linda A. Welch, both of Washington , D.C.; two sisters , Linda Meadows and Nancy Smith, both of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bertha V. (Lipke) Bittner, 90, of McCandless, formerly of Shaler Township, on Sunday, April 30, 2000. Mrs. Bittner was a homemaker. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward H. Bittner; mother of Betty Jean Reed of Shaler Township, Grace Jack of O'Hara Township, Ruth Spencer of Hopewell Township, Alice Bittner of Mt. Hope, Calif., and Edward G. Bittner of Upper St. Clair Township; sister of Ida Stickney of Oakmont; also 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends received at the FRANK R. MILDRED M. CADZOW
Mildred M. Cadzow, 88, of Greensburg, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Aug. 26, 1911, a daughter of the late John and Christina Cadzow. She was a teacher, retiring after 35 years from the Greensburg-Salem school district. She taught kindergarten and was principal at the Welty Street School. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Greensburg College Club, a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member and past matron of the O.E.S. 281 and a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter AJ of Greensburg. She was also a member of the N.E.A., P.S.E.A., and the G.S.E.A. She was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels after her retirement. She was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Caughey; and a brother, John M. Cadzow. She is survived by two sisters , Mae Pierce of Greensburg and Rachel Piribek of Morgantown, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. She had also served St. Colman Parish as a C.C.D. teacher, lector, and Eucharist minister. Wife of the late George Hoegle. Sister of Mildred I.
