Helen Angus, 81, of Crabtree, formerly of Irvington, N.J., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in the Oak Hill Nursing Center, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Greenwald, a daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara Wojtanek Lapka. She was retired from Weiss & Co., New York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Angus; a brother, Andrew Lapka; and two sisters , Nellie Kello and Jennie Prostoff. She is survived by two brothers , Fred Lapka and wife, Helen, of Sharon, and Arthur Lapka and wife, Doris; and a sister, Antoinette ``Honey" Lapka (with whom Helen resided the past few years), all of Crabtree; nieces and nephews, Joyce and Mike Cipolla, Richard and Jane Termyna, Andrew Prostoff, Bruce and Linda Lapka, Lois and Larry Lengyel, Artie Lapka Jr., Lori Lapka and Stefanie and Michael Lutzo; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her loving dog, Clancy. Edgar L. Armbrust, 73, of Strongsville, Ohio, formerly of Greensburg, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. Beloved husband of Edith (Hite). Loving Father of Thomas. Son of the late John and Blanche (Gregg) Armbrust. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Eacott; brothers and sisters , Florence Myers of Greensburg, George of Pittsburgh, James, Daniel, John Jr., Gertrude Lohr, Mary Lafferty, Dorothy Sandella and Rose Mitchell. Loving grandfather of three and great-grandfather of three. Numerous nieces and nephews. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as seaman 1C at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. ERNEST DeMONTE SR.
Ernest ``Jack" DeMonte Sr., 79, of Bovard, was born into eternal life Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. He was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Bovard, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Falo DeMonte. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and later by USX in Braddock. He was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Bovard, the Youngwood Sportsmen's Club, the Slovanic American Beneficial Sportsmen's Club, the T.C.A., a social member of the Bovard Volunteer Fire Department, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia; three brothers , David, Sam, and Meade; a sister, Antonetta; and his mother - and Father -in-law, Michael and Antonetta Delle Donna. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Angie Delle Donna DeMonte; a son, Jack DeMonte and his wife, Jane, of New Stanton; a daughter, Janet at home; loving grandchildren, Cynthia and her husband, Timothy R. Howells, of Mt. Pleasant and David Robert DeMonte of New Stanton; a great-grandson, Bradley David Howells; two brothers , Frank and wife, Betty DeMonte, of Penn and Lou and his wife, Anna Mae DeMonte, of Harrison Park; two sisters , Concetta and her husband, George Messich, of Bovard and Louise and her husband, Anthony DeMase, of New Alexandria; two sisters -in-law, Cecelia DeMonte of Bovard and Katherine DeMonte of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Laura P. McDowell Diemert, 79, of Delmont, formerly of Trafford, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Pitcairn, the daughter of the late Warren C. and Marie Smith McDowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl J. Diemert Sr.; and a daughter, Joanne Soles. She is survived by two sons , Karl J. Jr. and Warren Diemert. Also survived by seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the DAVID A. RITTER FUNERAL HOME, 220 Edgewood Ave., Trafford, Tuesday only from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. Carlisle V. M. JANE HEPLER
M. Jane Hepler, 84, of Mt. Pleasant (Wooddale), died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Washabaugh Beal. Jane was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant and she was formerly employed at Frick Hospital as a controller/business office manager, where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she served as the church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. She was the chairperson of the Pastor-Parish Committee and she served on the recent 125th Anniversary Committee. On the United Methodist church district level she served as a district parsonage trustee and lay equalization delegate to the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference. She was also a member and past president of the United Methodist Women, and since 1980 she served almost daily as a full-time volunteer of the Connellsville Community Ministries. Jane was a life member and past master of the Pleasant Valley Grange and she was also the longest living volunteer of the Bullskin Township Fair. She was a member and past treasurer of the Bullskin Township Lioness Club and a member of the Pleasant Valley Lions Club, where she held several offices; and she was recipient of the coveted Melvin Jones Fellow Award for her work in Lionism. In 1992, Jane received the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce Service Award. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Orton W. Hepler, in 1980; six brothers , Russell, Clyde, John, Oliver, Lloyd and the Rev. William Beal; and five sisters , Alma Keefer, Grace Crise, Nora Wilson, Elizabeth Daniels and Mary Basinger. She is survived by a son, Blaine Hepler and his wife, Linda, of Beaver, Pa.; a daughter, Linda Rose and her husband, Louis, of Wooddale; eight grandchildren, Thomas Pietrzak and his wife, Cindy, of Lansdale, Pa., Amy Landman and her husband, Roger, of Mt. Pleasant, Denise Harrison of the state of Arizona, David Hepler and his wife, Denise, of the state of Georgia, Danny Hepler of Beaver, Darla Hepler of the state of Arizona, Dawn Bufalini and her husband, Chris, of Beaver and Darin Hepler of Beaver; seven great-grandchildren, Tonya Hepler, Thomas Pietrzak III, Danny Hepler Jr., Shayla and Reana Landman, and Ryan and Nathan Hepler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Paradise United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Burns and the Rev. Terry Guiste co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlick Cemetery. The Pleasant Valley Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. MICHELLE M. KUCHINKA HEARN
Michelle M. Kuchinka Hearn, 54, of Manor, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in the UPMC Pittsburgh. She was born Oct. 15, 1945, in Cherbourg, France, a daughter of Janine Kuchinka Eble of Pemberton, N.J., and the late Michael Kuchinka. In addition to her Father , she was preceded in death by a brother, Francois Kuchinka. In addition to her mother , she is survived by her husband, William J. Hearn; a daughter, Sonya and her husband, Charles Schlegel, of Westmoreland City; a grandson, Cody Schlegel; four sisters , MaryFrance Duvost of Quneville, France, Christine Troger of Seattle, Wash., Charlene Lane of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Janine Kuchinka of Irwin; five brothers , Michael Kuchinka of Windber, Raymond Kuchinka of Jeannette, and Marc, Daniel and Jeanjacques Kuchinka, all of Browns Mill, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Herr, 78, of Irwin, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born May 17, 1921, in Grass Flat, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Adam and Verona Matejcik Dresko. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was retired from the Homestead Health Center-SHHS. Survived by daughters , Shirley Sidun of North Irwin, Barbara Byers of Jeannette, and Carolyn Chatlos of West Mifflin; sons , Dale Herr of McKeesport and Daniel Herr of Charleroi; sisters , Anna Nachman of DuBois, Helen Fenush, Rose Fenush, and Elizabeth Guenot, all of Grass Flat; brothers , John Dresko and David Dresko, both of South Carolina; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Anna M. (Krasnewich) Miller, 94, of Jeannette, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Julian J. ``Jinx" Miller; and a sister, Alice Beggs. She is survived by two sons , Harry Miller and wife, Florence, of Illinois and Robert Miller and wife, Elaine, of Greensburg; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Paul G. Moczydlowsky, 80, of Latrobe RD3 (Trauger), died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Crabtree, a son of the late Frank and Waldislava (Karasiewsky) Moczydlowsky. Prior to retirement, he worked at Overly Manufacturing in Greensburg, and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Calumet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah J. (Duda) Moczydlowsky; and two brothers , Carl and Joseph Moczydlowsky. He is survived by four children, Carol Moczydlowsky at home, Paul Moczydlowsky and wife, Cindy, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Mrs. Bernard (Paula) Cutlip of Pleasant Unity and Dennis Moczydlowsky at home; four grandchildren, Amy Sorbera and husband, Peter, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Brandee Cutlip of Lake Ridge, Va., Michael Moczydlowsky of Ballston Spa, N.Y., and Brian Cutlip of Pleasant Unity; a brother, Walter Moczydlowsky of Jeannette; a sister, Amelia Moczydlowsky of Crabtree; and several nieces and nephews. William D. Mozeik Sr., of Swissvale, on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. Beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Ertman) Mozeik. Father of William D. Jr. of Swissvale and Cheryl L. and her husband, Tony Bilitski, of California, Pa. Grandfather of Sarah and Andrew. Brother-in-law and uncle to many beloved family members. He retired as a master plumber for the Swissvale area with 50 plus years. He was a member of the R.W. Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, the Swissvale American Legion Post #63, and the Swissvale VFW #6679, where he was a member of the Shuffle Board League. Barbara C. Tonkovic Paulcheck, 94, of Penn Township, formerly of Port Vue, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000. She was born Sept. 15, 1905, in McKeesport, the daughter of the late George and Barbara Ropar Tonkovic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Paulcheck; a son, Edward C.; and three brothers , John Tonkovich, Joseph and George Tonkovic. Mrs. Paulcheck was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, McKeesport. She is survived by a son, Richard G. and wife, Martha, of Warwick, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. Robert L. St. Clair, 57, of Latrobe, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Ligonier, a son of Doris E. Scott St. Clair of Bolivar RD1 and the late Harold J. St. Clair. He was a member of the First Church of God, Latrobe, and an employee of the Kennametal Co., with 34 years service. He was a 1961 graduate of Ligonier Valley High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the Shenandoah AD26. He was also a member of the American Legion #515, Latrobe, Loyalhanna F&AM Lodge #275, the Twin Maples Hunt Club, and the Westco 4WD Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was predeceased by his Father . In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife, Dorcas Chappell St. Clair; a son, R. Michael St. Clair at home; a brother, John H. St. Clair and his wife, Linda, of Snow, Okla.; a sister, Karen E. Andrews and her husband, Sam, of Bolivar RD1; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
