Curtis Wynn Mason
Nov. 14, 1911-July 18, 2004 Curtis Wynn Mason, 92, Ontario, died July 18, 2004 at home. Graveside services were held July 22, 2004 at Evergreen cemetery, Ontario, Oregon. Bishop Randy Jensen of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiated. Curtis was born Nov. 14, 1911 in Plymouth, Utah, to Jesse and Louilla, Mason, he was sixth of 13 children. March 28, 1934 he married
Helen N. Andrus in Jerome, who preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2003. Curtis fell timber for many years in the upper Rogue for Jantzer logging and the Steve Wilson Logging Co. He was an avid hunter, rock hound and outdoorsman.
Curtis is survived by four children, Barbara Cheny of Mountain Home, Idaho. Curtis E. Mason of Ontario, Oregon. Georgia Friend of Shady Cove, and Judie Silva, of Trail. 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and one brother, George Mason, also of Shady Cove.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and 3 great grandchildren.
Dorothy Mae Gordon
A Memorial Service for Dorothy Mae Gordon will be held July 29, 2004 at 4 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford, OR. Dorothy, 88, of Medford, died July 25, 2004, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 4, 1916, in Ogden, UT to Jay Earl and Clara Semeyn White. On May 25, 1935 she married
Forrest Gordon in Fresno, CA, who proceeded her in death.
She worked at Hughes Aircraft in Southern CA for many years. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1966. She helped run a family business in Medford until her retirement. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family. She loved baseball, and her most enjoyable pastime was watching her LA Dodgers.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Survivors indude her daughters, Shirley Kohlhoff of Jacksonville and Margaret Moser of Medford, her brother, Lewis White of Utah. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by a son, Neal Gordon, and a brother Jay White.
In leiu of flowers, those who wish, may make a donation to Asante Hospice. Arrangements will be handled by Aboey Funeral Alternatives of Medford.
Duane Edwin Jones
Duane Edwin Jones died Tuesday (July 27, 2004) peacefully at his home with loved ones by his side.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the Apostolic Faith Church, corner of E. Jackson and Sunrise, Medford Rev. Earl Phillips and Rev. Tom Pricskett officiating. A private cryptside service will follow at Memory Gardens.
Duane was born November 14, 1923 in Emmett, Idaho to Woodson and Clara Jones. He grew up in Dallas, Oregon, graduating from Dallas High School as an outstanding athlete. He moved to Medford in 1942.
On May 27, 1948, he married
Marie Mae Dubs, who survives. They had been married
56 years this past spring and were active members of the Apostolic Faith Church. He was self-employed in a domestic and commercial cleaning business.
Duane was a minister of music at the Care Centers and County Jails, also soloist for many events and sang in his church choir for over 60 years. He was also Youth Choir Director, church gardener and custodian for 23 years.
He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and spending time with the family. He and his wife traveled extensively, including a missionary trip to the West Indies in 1989.
Survivors besides his wife are six sons, Stephen and Reggie of Medford, Richard of Central Point, Troy of Eagle Point, Thomas of Bend and Mark of Eureka, CA; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Jewel Hanlin and Maxine Baker of Phoenix, OR; and one brother, Efton Jones of Medford. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Perl Siskiyou Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29.

Lois Tillman Allen
Mr. Lois Tillman Allen, 92, of Medford, died July 24, 2004.

Lois was born August 9, 1911 in Dierks, AR to Ben and Martha (Moore) Allen. On August 2, 1941 in Nashville, AR, Lois married
the former Ethel M. Lamb.
He worked at Timber Products, Medford and Rogue River Packing, Medford.
He enjoyed working on bicycles, helping others, and walking. He was a member of the Lozier Lane Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Kim Allen of Medford; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Roseland and Rick Edwards of Bamberg, Germany; granddaughters, Kristin R. Allen of Corvallis, Shauna L. Allen of Medford, and Lindsay M. Edwards of Bamberg, Germany; grandson, William A. Edwards of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Willie Mae Stone of Nashville, AR and Olene Smith of Altamonte Springs, FL; and brothers, Troy W. Allen of Dierks, AR, Thurman Allen of Apopka, FL, and Bennie J. Allen of Orlando, FL.
Lois was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ethel, in 2003, and brothers, Elmer Allen and Luther Allen.

Mae Cory
Mae Cory, died July 24, 2004 in Medford. She was born on Sept. 29, 1914 in Pasco, WA to Anson Claire Schnellbacher and Emma Jahnke Schnellbacher. The widow of Col Mark E. Cory II, she is survived by her sister, Marjorie Carter of Medford; sons, Mark E. Cory III and his wife Judith Ricker of Fayetteville, AK, and Gregory L. Cory and his wife, Sanlin of San Francisco, CA; granddaughters Genevieve L. Cory of Munich, Germany, Robin E. Cory of San Diego, CA, and Stephanie Schulte of Washington, D.C.; and grandson, Haden Cory of San Francisco, CA.
Mrs. Cory was a inveterate traveler, a passionate bridge player, and a lover of cooking and golf. Mae felt blessed by a life that had three distinct chapters; her life at the side of her husband of forty years during his military career, four decades spent in Marin County, in the greater San Francisco Bay area, which she loved, and ten rewarding years making new friends at Rogue Valley Manor in Medford.
Mae said, "I have had a wonderful life, I have been lucky, in my marriage, in my children, and their children. I loved the military life and our travels. I loved my time in Marin and I have loved my time at Rogue Valley Manor." Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Manor Health Center fund or hospice.

McGregor Lenoir Church, M. D.
McGregor was born to Walter E. Church and Bernice McGregor Church on August 29, 1929 in Portland Oregon. He graduated from Stanford 1n 1951 and from University of Oregon Medical School in 1956. He married
Linda Brown in 1950 with whom he had 5 children. He married
Diane McPhail in 1972. After Diane's death, he married
Catharine Foyston in 1976. Catharine was the love of his life and brought him joy to the end of his days.
He retired as a Colonel from the USAF after serving since 1957 in active service and the Oregon Air National Guard. When he was stationed in Bitburg, Germany he and Catharine traveled extensively throughout Europe.
Mac was a man of keen intellect and deep compassion, a man who loved God and neighbor, a healer and lover of life. His interests were broad and deep. He loved to fly all types of aircraft, travel was a joy for him, and he was a sharpshooter (of both guns and photographs) and a connoisseur of fine wine. His faith was very deep. He was active in the Episcopal Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, Stewardship Chair, a member of the vestry, Campus Ministry, and on diocesan boards. He was a member of Kiwanis and The American Legion. Mac was the patriarch of a large and extended family of 12 children and stepchildren.
Mac died, surrounded by his loving family, on July 25th at Providence Medical Center in Medford.
He is survived by his beloved wife Catharine, his children McGregor (Sarva-drk das), Susan, Catherine, Robin, Charles, John, Christopher, Lise, Alex, Kathy, Jamie, and Meaghan and their spouses; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in thanksgiving for the life of Dr. McGregor L. Church will be held on Thursday July 29, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Fund.
Thomas "Tomi" E. Nelson
Thomas "Tomi" Edward Nelson passed away to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, July 26, 2004 at home surrounded by his family. He had courageously battled metastasized prostate cancer for over five years.
The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Hwy. 62, Eagle Point. Pastor Don Holmes will officiate.
He was born June 9, 1949, in Medford, Oregon. He was proud to say his children were the fifth generation to be raised in Eagle Point, Oregon. He married
Louise Humphrey Nelson July 18, 1970 in Reno, Nevada.
He served as a M.P in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was stationed at Kaneoee Bay, Ohau, Hawaii. Returning to the main land, he worked at Kelso Electronic Service. He served his electrical apprenticeship at Jackson Electric where he worked thirteen years.
After surviving Hodgkin's Disease and seven major surgeries in the late 1970s and early 80s, he and his wife started TEN Electric Inc. They owned and operated TEN Electric Inc. for sixteen years. Tomi was a caring and compassionate man, and his employees were like his extended family.
He was very passionate about riding his Harley, Hawaii, and marlin fishing in Cabo and good jokes.
He was married
for thirty-four years on July 18, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter and son-in-law, Tiffani and David Crandall of Eagle Point; daughter and son-in-law, Stephani and Harley Nielsen of White City. Tomi was so proud of his daughters. His grandchildren, Kaden Lee and Kamren Thomas Crandall and Haley Rae Nielsen were his shining stars. He is also survived by his father, Glenn Nelson of Lake Havasu, AZ; his mother, Lila Nelson Johnson of Eagle Point; sister and brother-in-law, Tonya and Larry Marshall of The Greensprings; a sister, Tamara Nelson of Eagle Point; and brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Kathy Nelson of Eagle Point.

William D. Humason
The memorial services for William Dowd Humason will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford, with the Rev. Chris Ward officiating. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Humason, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (July 24, 2004). He was born Oct. 30, 1913 in Pasadena, CA. As a teenager, he achieved his Eagle Scout Award. In 1938 in Los Angeles, CA he married
Ruth A. Petty, who preceded him in death in 2002.
He moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from Santa Rosa, CA. He received his B.S. from California Institute of Technology in 1936, and worked for Procter and Gamble Mfg. Co. in chemical engineering and manufacturing management.
He enjoyed playing the Recorder with his Medford group and was a master woodworker, a talented gardener, flyfisherman, clock repairman and builder of model airplanes in his lifetime.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Bernt of Sebastopol, CA; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Frank J. Swan
Franklin "Frank" Joseph Swan, 67, of Medford, died Monday (July 26, 2004).
He was born on July 6, 1937 in Watsonville, CA to Marie Josephine Sargent & Franklin Douglas Swan. Frank graduated from Bellarmine Prep in Santa Clara and earned a B.A. in Art and M.A. in Librarianship from San Jose State University.
Frank married
Nancy Lynn Hanselman on June 24, 1961 and had one son, Frederick Douglas in 1964.
In 1970, Mr. Swan became Head of Branches and later Assistant Director of The Jackson County Library System in Medford. In 1982, he moved to Evanston, WY where he served as Uinta County Library Director until his retirement in 1999. In Evanston, Frank was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Gideons, and the Roundhouse Committee, as well as helping found the Evanston Rotary Club & served as President. The Swans returned to Medford in 1999. Frank was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Southern Oregon Philatelic Society and Roxy Ann Gem & Mineral Society. He was President and Scripture Secretary of the Gideon Rogue Valley North Camp.
He enjoyed his cat P.G., gardening and painting landscapes.
Viewing will be at Perl Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30. A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Frank is survived by Nancy, his wife of 43 years; his son Fred and daughter-in-law, Eva, as well as many beloved cousins and friends.
Leland Marion Chambers
Leland Marion Chambers, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (July 27, 2004 at his home. No services will be held.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1919 in Prineville, OR to George and Mary Chambers. He lived in the Rogue Valley for 47 years.
Mr. Chambers enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife Hazel Fern Miller, three sons, Ray of Portland, George of Medford and Bob of Yreka; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mary Irwin Haugen
Mary Irwin Haugen, 96, of Medford, died July 27, 2004.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, August 1, at Medford United Methodist Church, 607 W. Main St., Medford. Ross Knotts (Emeritus) of Medford United Methodist Church will officiate.

Mary was born June 18, 1908 in Olney, Illinois to Earl Everett and Julia Elvira (Bowen) Irwin. On November 26, 1936 in Trenton, North Dakota, she married
Orner Howard Haugen. She lived in Medford from December 1957 to August 1999; and in the Barnett Woods Retirement Home since August 1999.
Mary graduated from Minot State Teachers College, Minot, North Dakota. She was a school teacher, Sunday school teacher and housewife.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, Sunday school teaching, bible study, canning and cooking.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Scandia.
She is survived by her son, Howard E. Haugen of Westminster, California; daughter, Judy Austbo of Jacksonville; brother, Albert Irwin; grandchildren, Kirk Austbo, Kim Austbo, Stephanie Haugen, Natasha Haugen, and Kristofer Haugen; and great-grandchild, Kariana Austbo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orner; sister, Vesta Irwin; brothers, John Irwin and Arthur Irwin.

Mildred Dufour
Nov. 6, 1922 - July 27, 2004 Mildred "Millie" Dufour, 82, of Medford died Tuesday at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born November 6, 1921 in Escanaba, Mich., to Alex Johnson and Hilda (Carlson) Johnson. On June 27, 1942, in Highland Park, Mich., she married
Kenneth J. Dufour. They moved to Eagle Point in 1945, to Butte Fails in 1970, and to Medford in 1998 for health reasons.
She was a great mother, a devout Christian, and a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends.
She enjoyed her family, reading and gardening. She loved playing games, and the outdoors. She was a member of the Butte Falls Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include four sons, Tim of Medford, Brice of Eagle Point, Brian of Central Point, Terry of Albany; a daughter, Cindy Smith of Butte Falls; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at Butte Falls Assembly of God. Her grandson Pastor Kelly Dufour, will officiate. The committal service will be at 12:30 PM Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Conger Morris Funeral Home. Medford.

Richard C. Kirk
The memorial service for Rev. Richard C. Kirk will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the First Baptist Church, Medford. For family and friends there will be a viewing at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, at Perl Funeral Home, Medford, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Dr. G. Walter Hansen, son-in-law, will officiate. Pastor Kirk of Medford, died July 27, 2004 at his home at Rogue Valley Manor.
He was born Sept. 20, 1915 on a farm in Quarryville, PA., a son of farming people in Lancaster County, PA.
He was a 1936 graduate of Quarryville High School. After his conversion at 16 years of age, he felt the call from God to prepare for the Christian ministry at the age of 19. He graduated from Weaton College with a BA degree in 1940. On June 18, 1942 he married
Ruth Becker, the love of his life, who survives. In 1943 he received his degree in Theology from the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.
Pastor Kirk pastored churches in Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, and Salem, OR. His last place of service was at the First Baptist Church of Medford, where he served in Personal Evangelism which was his special calling.
His love for people kept him involved in various aspects of Christian ministry even in his retirement following his 70th birthday.
Among his several interests were gardening, fishing, and big game hunting which he continued throughout his life.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Kirk of New York City; and daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon and Roger Perkins of Holland, MI, Darlene and Walter Hansen of Santa Barbara, and Brenda and Reggy deFeniks of Portland, four grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great-grandsons.
