Merrill W. Morehouse, 93, died Saturday (June 19, 2004) in Medford.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1910 in Seattle, WA. He was married to Wilma Morehouse. Private family services will be held.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Bessie Alfreda Harmon
Bessie Alfreda Harmon, 80, of Medford, died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at her home.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.

Bessie Barnes was born on November 3, 1923 in Wichita, KS. She married James Harlen Harmon on August 2, 1941 in Wichita, KS. She lived in the Rogue Valley since 1955.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Carol Ann Downey
Carol Ann Downey passed away at home on Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was born in Burbank, California on October 15, 1939. At the age of 18, she married her high school sweetheart, Cliff Downey; and they remained happily together for 46 years. They moved their family of five young daughters to the Medford area in 1969. She and Cliff started the family business of Downey Business and Tax Service in 1971. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and family gatherings.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Cliff; her five daughters and their husbands, Joan and Dave Pecora, Patty and Gayland Looney, Christie and Bill Fetty, Linda and Marc Rowley and Carolyn and Mike Terry. She has 16 grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah, Joe, Ty, Stacey, Elissa, Cory, Colin, Devin, J.C., Eryka, Deni, Katie, Aaron, Mandi and Nick.

A rosary will be said in her honor on Monday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at Perl Siskiyou. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Birthright or Magdalene Home.

Juneita H. Saterlee
Juneita H. (Buchanan) Saterlee, 82, of Central Point died June 13, 2004 at her home. A private family memorial was held.

Born October 21, 1922 in La Grand, she married Jack L. Saterlee on May 14, 1942 in Vancouver, WA. She graduated Wheeler County High School in Fossil, Oregon.

Juneita was a devoted wife of 62 years. Her family was her heart and soul. In addition to her love of family and friends, Juneita enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and crossword puzzles. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Medford Eagles, past Madam President, and was part of the drill team.

In addition to her husband, Jack Saterlee, survivors include: Pamela C. Poblano of Springfield; grandchildren: Trina Player, Chareena Shamia, Jack Poblano, and Paul Player; great-grandchildren, Tyron Player, Tazmunai Player, Jameyia Shamia, Lance Poblano, and Cameron Poblano; nephews, Gordon Sundby and Scott Sundby; adopted grandchildren, Bonnie Newsom, Casandra Miller, and Anthony Miller.

She was very much loved and will be deeply missed.

Lucile M. Paul
Lucile M. Paul, 85, of Eagle Point, died June 14, 2004 at Providence Hospital, Medford.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford, officiated by Chris Naranjo of Butte Creek Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Research Foundation, 820 Davis St., Suite 420, Evanston, IL 60201.

Lucile Huebner was born on November 18, 1918, in Borszczou, Alberta, Canada. On June 20, 1942 in Coquille, Oregon she married Jerry R. Paul. Moving from Camas Valley, Oregon, she lived in the Rogue Valley since 1943.

She was a kind and loving person who put her family and their welfare first. She was an avid reader who enjoyed beautiful music and growing flowers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Charles Merron of Eagle Point; brothers, Herman Huebner, Henry Huebner, and Marion "Bud" Huebner, all of Eagle Point; nephew, James and his wife, Anita Miller of Aptos, Ca; nieces, Muriel and her husband, Tom Laub of Fresno, CA and Pat and her husband, Fred Sommers of Cambria, CA; and one granddaughter, Louise Murphy of Anchorage, AK. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Paul and sister, Doris V. Trayler.

Roy 'Preacher' Bradshaw
Roy C. "Preacher" Bradshaw, 92, a Medford resident of 5 years, formerly of Artesia, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at his home in Medford.

He was born, Roy Clifford Bradshaw, to J.W. and Lena Bradshaw on July 18, 1911 in Roswell, NM. As a child, he and his family moved to Artesia, where he resided until his move to Medford, Oregon. During his lifetime, he worked as a farmer, carpenter, truck driver, and a pumper in the oilfields of southeast New Mexico. He married Pauline (Briggs) Blair on July 16, 1961 and had two step-sons by that marriage, Robert E. and Gary L. Blair. Longtime members of the First United Methodist Church in Artesia, he and Pauline were active in their community. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards and dominoes.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Willard; his step-son, Robert E. Blair, and Pauline M. Bradshaw, his wife of 43 years. He is survived by Gary Blair; granddaughters, Sharon Stacy of Ashland, Marcia Legg of Medford and Leigh Blair-Bierwirth of Breezy Point, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Stacy, Mackenzie and Charlie Legg, and Caienna, Sascha and Maia Bierwirth.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 688, Medford, Oregon 97501.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 21st at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Arrangements by Conger-Morris Funeral Directors.

William C. 'Bill' Foster
A private family celebration of life will be held for William Clarence "Bill" Foster, 62, of Medford, who died June 15, 2004.

He was born June 19, 1941 at Oakley, Idaho the son of Nelda and George Foster. In 1974 he moved to Medford from San Jose, CA. He worked for many years as a floor covering installer; then a boat builder at Marlan Boats in White City. Last employed at Exxon, Riverside at Barnett.

Mr. Foster is survived by one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, four brothers, one sister, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Carlton 'Carl' K. Heap
Carlton "Carl" Kenneth Heap, 62, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 12 at Parkway Christian Center with Pastor James Downing officiating. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A potluck gathering will immediately follow the funeral service at Riverside Park Trevillian Pavilion.

For 28 years he owned and operated Carl's 4x4 Service in Grants Pass.

Evelyn Amanda Montague
Evelyn Amanda Montague was born on January 19, 1917 in Edmore, North Dakota and was working as a hairdresser when she met and married Harry H. Montague. She continued her work as a hairdresser when she moved to Omaha, Nebraska with her husband who was transferred there with the Federal Government Corps of Engineers. They retired and moved to Oregon in 1981 where they were active with Ascension Lutheran Church. She devoted much of her time to the church by sewing and doing crafts for the Bazaar.

During her later years in Medford, she was a member of the the Upper Rogue Artists in Shady Cove, where she painted in water colors.

She passed away on July 9, 2004, and is survived by her son John Montague of Portland; and her daughter of Medford.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2617 E. Barnett Rd., Medford.

Gordon Allyn Geer
Gordon was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on October 15, 1914, and passed away on July 5, 2004. His parents were Royal Welcome Geer and Esther Clarissa Phillips Geer.

He spent twelve years in the United States Navy and was stationed in both the Alaskan and Pacific areas of naval operation. At the close of World War II, he was attached to Fleet Hospital 114 in the Philippine Islands and was discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer.

He graduated from Walla Walla College in 1949 and accepted an appointment as a pastor for the Seventh Day Adventist Church. His ministry spanned thirty two years during which times he was responsible for the building of four churches and one school.

After retiring from church work he raised registered Aberdeen Angus cattle and was president of the Southern Oregon Angus Association. He was instrumental in organizing a Junior Angus Association and promoted livestock sales, shows and fairs.

He served as a volunteer for the Veteran's Domiciliary in White City and was awarded a citation and pin for 10, 000 hours of voluntary service.

His hobbies included astronomy, woodworking, birding and a long time membership in the Senior Bowling League. On April 15, 1942 he married Margaret Hammill who survives.

Children are: Gordon A. Geer, Jr. of Roseville, CA, Christine A. Jenkins of Wrightwood, CA, and Brooke E. Person of Glendale, CA; and six grandchildren.

Irene C. McCollum
Irene C. McCollum, 90, died Wednesday morning, July 7, 2004 at the Jennings- McCall II Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2199 Siskiyou Boulevard in Medford. Vault Interment will follow at the cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of fellowship immediately following the services, to be held at the Hometown Buffet in Medford.

Irene Catherine McCollum was born January 15, 1914 in Lockheart, MN, the daughter of John and Catherine (Wolfe) Malakowsky. She was the 9th of 10 children. Her mother died when she was four years old and was raised by her older sister, Ida. She later moved with her sister, Ida, to San Francisco, CA to live with their brother.

Following high school, Irene attended San Francisco State University for three years, where she studied to become a teacher. She was united in marriage to Samuel Mallon in 1934. Following their marriage they made their home in the San Francisco area until 1945 when they moved to Oregon, settling in Central Point. They eventually bought a grocery store, which Sam and Irene owned and operated for seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, in 1956, after twenty-two years of marriage. Her husband was killed in a car accident which left Irene with two teenagers and a grocery store to run. In 1958, L.D. McCollum walked into her store and three months later they married . Following their marriage they made their home on their ranch near Rogue River. They later moved to Medford. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, L.D., in 1968. Irene continued to make her home in Medford until 1995 when she moved to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Forest Grove, where she had resided since.

She was a member of the Methodist faith. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Nevita Chapter No. 93 in Central Point, as well as a member of the White Shrine of Jesus and the Amaranth.

Among her interests, Irene enjoyed cross stitch and sewing. She was an avid reader.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Edward, Raymond, Wesley and Willis; five sisters, Ida, Amy, Ester, Helen and Ruth; and her son, Norman Mallon in 1975.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Mallon) and John Stuckey of Astoria; and five grandchildren and their families: Ron and Joanne Stuckey and their children; Andrew and Michelle; Karen (Stuckey) and Ken Scholes and their children; Monica and Nicole; Gary and Rea (Stanton) Stuckey and their child, April; Vicki (Mallon) and Greg Hess and their children, Nathen and Alexandria; and Dean and Shelly Mallon and their children, Michael and Bailee.

The family suggests that remembrances may be made to the Masonic and Eastern Star Home Endowment Fund, 2221 Oak Street, Forest Grove, Oregon 97116 in her memory.

Fuhen, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove, OR is in charge of the arrangements.

James Nathaniel Dismuke
James Nathaniel Dismuke, 55, of Ashland, Oregon, died in his home Thursday (July 1, 2004) after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

James was born on May 5, 1949 in Albany, California.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Godfrey, his daughter Nora Rose, his sons, James and Daniel Dismuke, his sister Virginia Carver, and his brother Poe Dismuke. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Angela Dismuke, and his sister, Jeanette Iacopi.

James was a loving husband and gentle father, a loyal friend, a caring and committed teacher. His great loves were his wife, his children, and his students.

James attended California State Universities; he received his teaching certificate at the University of Oregon, and his Masters Degree at Southern Oregon University. During his twenty-five year teaching career he taught English, coached basketball, and encouraged his students to be the best that they could be. He was loved by his fellow teachers and will be greatly missed.

A memorial celebration for James will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004, from 4 to 7 p.m., at 1010 Clay Street, Ashland, Oregon. For information, call 488-1764.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Jackson County Public Schools, or to the Providence Hospice Program at Providence Hospital, Medford, Oregon.

Juanita Summers
The memorial graveside service for Juanita Summers will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Mrs. Summers, 83, passed away Wednesday (July 7, 2004) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She owned and operated the Valley Trading Post, an antique and second hand retail store in Central Point for over 30 years.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.

Marjorie Sue Sturm
In Loving Memory of Marjorie Sue Sturm She was born October 23, 1940, and passed away, July 4, 2004.

She is survived by her loving husband Carl of 47 years; her four children, Carlene Morrison, Russelle Sturm, Rochelle Simrose, Lorne Sturm; her nine grandchildren; her sister, Linda Hunt and brother, Danny Boone; her many brothers and sister-in-laws, her nieces and nephews; as well as her friends.

Also many thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and the emergency personnel.

Mary Ethel Sullenger
Mary Ethel Sullenger, 94, passed away on June 19, 2004 in Medford.

She was born in Fort Worth Texas on July 12, 1909. She moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico at age two. She lived most of her younger years in Tucumcari, graduating from high school there in 1927 and then college in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1939, going into teaching. On Nov. 16, 1939, she married Robert Earl Sullenger. They traveled to different parts of the country where Mary could find teaching jobs but finally in 1947 settling in the Rogue Valley where Mary taught school in Jacksonville for 25 years. Mary always derived pleasure from her teaching career, her love for the Oregon coast and her cats.

Through the years Mary was best known for her gardening where she truly had a "green thumb." Her roses were like no others. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, and wonderful humor.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert "Buster", two brothers and one sister. She is survived by a sister, Eva Youngberg; two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Jane of Arry, New Mexico, and Jim Griffith of Prospect, OT; four grandchildren, David and Angela Griffith of Winston Salem, NC, Karen and John Geier of Helena, Montana, Kenneth and Rhonda Griffith Jr. of Hurley, NM, and Susan Griffith Sheppard of Arry, NM; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are being held but a life time of wonderful memories with our "Grandma Mary" will follow.
