Bessie R. Hill
Bessie R. Hill, 88, of Talent, passed away at Hearthstone Manor in Medford on Saturday, Mar. 27, 2004.
Private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hill was born on September 25, 1915 in Coldwater, KS to Morton and Iris (Bird) Hadley. She married
Lewis A. Hill in Coldwater on July 17, 1941. They moved to the Rogue Valley from there in 1948. Mrs. Hill worked as a housekeeper and enjoyed sewing, flowers and was especially fond of babies. She and Lewis were members of the Talent Friends Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Hill of Talent; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Bob Holt of Medford; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Sandy Hill of Moss Beach, CA; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Donald 'Don' M. Jones
Donald "Don" M. Jones, 77, of Central Point, died Thursday (March 25, 2004) at Providence Medical Center. Services will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Jones was born on Sept. 26, 1926 in Huntington Park, CA. On July 16, 1948 in Montebello CA, he married
"Mickey" (Grady) Jones who survives. He lived in Medford from 1962 to 1970 then from 1986 to 2004.
He went to high school in Montebello, CA and college in Whittier, CA.
Mr.Jones served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 1945 to Aug. 1946.
He worked in sales and marketing for Texaco, Inc., retiring in 1985.
Mr. Jones was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.
He enjoyed fishing, square dancing and camping. In addition to his wife survivors include a son, Steven Jones of Pleasanton, CA; a daughter, Donnis Parker of Medford; 7 grandchildren; and 5½ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Jones (1949- 2003), Arrangements; Perl Funeral Home, Medford.
Ivan Henderson Jester
Born on May 19, 1938, in McCaskill, Arkansas, passed away on March 26, 2004 at his home in Jacksonville.
Ivan was the loving husband of 22 years to his wife Suzanne Gygax Jester, and a wonderful father to his son, Paul Jester of Wisconsin, his daughter Sara Huff and her husband Kevin Huff and to his daughter, Alison Huff and her husband Kye Huff.
He is survived by his brothers Charles, Dwight and his wife Penny, Terry and his wife Ginger, sisters, Dean and her husband Harry, Lenda and her husband Jess, Shelby and her husband Robert. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Yvonne Moriarty, brother-in-law, Frank Gygax and his wife Kathy, and his sister-in-law, Lynn Gygax.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at Castlewood Country Club, 707 Country Club Circle in Pleasanton, California.

Lawrence 'Larry' DeVore
A memorial service for Lawrence "Larry" Earl DeVore will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at Butte Creek Baptist Church, 429 N. Royal Ave., Eagle Point. Pastor Chris Naranjo will officiate. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. DeVore, 68, of White City, died Sunday (March 21, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Mr. DeVore was born on July 3, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to James and Elizabeth (Hunsburger) DeVore. He moved to Eagle Point in 1978 from Gilroy, CA. On March 4, 1989 in Eagle Point he married
Betty Jo, who survives.
He worked as a saw filer for Cal-Or Carbide until his retirement.
He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, camping and enjoyed membership in TOPS Club activities.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three daughters, Carol Orsetti-Connolly of Medford, Joan Schermerhorn of Wood Village, OR and Deanna DeVore of Parkdale, OR; a step-son, Lain Ivie of McDill AFB, FL; a brother Harvey DeVore of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Stephen 'Steve' M. Blore
A memorial service for Stephen "Steve" Michael Blore will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at the First Assembly of God in White City. Pastor Skip will officiate. A potluck will follow the service at the church.
Steve, 50, of Medford died Friday (March 26, 2004) at his home.
He was born on March 17, 1954 in Medford to John Blore of Radcliff, Ohio, and Frances (Foxworthy) Baker of Canby, OR. On Feb. 14, 1999 in Medford he married
Gayle, who survives.
Steve was a truck driver. He was a lifetime resident of the Rogue Valley.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing chess with Kyle.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, step-son Kyle Foote; brother, Myron Blore of Talent; sister Teresa Carroll of Canby. OR; half sister, Laurie Hernandez of Medford; step-sister, Linda Sherry and Barbara Burke both of Klamath Falls, step-sister, Donna Baker of Grandview, WA; step-brother, Robert Kesterson of Glide, OR.

Thelma M. Lininger
Thelma M. Lininger, age 88, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Anna Maria Creekside (822 Golf View Drive, Medford), her former residence.
Thelma Myrtle Stringer was born to Lena (Lindsay) Stringer and William Scott Stringer on May 2, 1915 on the family homestead along the Applegate River in Josephine, County. She was a descendent of early pioneers who crossed the plains on the Oregon Trail in 1846, searching for a safer southern route which became the Applegate Trail. She attended New Hope School, which was a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1935. She then graduated from Southern Oregon Normal School (SONS) with a degree in teaching and taught in a one room schoolhouse in Azalea, OR. At SONS, now Southern Oregon University, she met Raymond B. Lininger and they were married
on May 22, 1938. Raymond died on March 19, 1965.
Mrs. Lininger was the last surviving member of the second generation of the owners of the M. C. Lininger and Sons general contracting and material supply business. That business eventually became LTM, Incorporated.
She was a member of Fortnightly Study Club of Ashland for 50 years and a 41 year member of PEO Chapter AC in Ashland and of Chapter BE in Medford. She was also a Rogue Valley Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer for 25 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford.
Mrs. Lininger had traveled extensively and did so until her health prevented her from continuing.
Survivors include, a daughter, Carol Hergert; a son Dale Lininger and his wife Judy, all of Medford; a granddaughter Leah Rozett and her husband Rocky; great-granddaughter Malia, of Central Point, and grandson Joel Hergert of Medford, as well as by grandson Jeff Lininger and his wife Wendy and their daughter Callie of Medford and grandson Rob Lininger and his wife Elise of Bozeman, Montana.
Other survivors include her sister, Lavada Middleton of Oroville, CA, and her brother Cal Stringer and his wife Doris of Medford. In addition to her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Stringer, who was killed on Wake Island in World War II, and by her parents.

Camaren M. Luehmann
Camaren Michael Luehmann, 22, of Hillsboro, (formerly of Central Point) died Wednesday, (March 28, 2004) at OHSU Hospital in Portland, after losing his battle with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia.
Camaren was born on Nov. 12, 1981 in Portland, OR and at the age of 8 was adopted by Bob and Becky Luehmann.
He is a 2000 graduate of Crater High School and lived in Medford until May 2003 when he moved to Portland for medical treatment.
Survivors include: his adoptive parents, Bob and Becky Luehmann of Olympia, WA; a brother, Thomas Luehmann; three sisters, Kristall and Jennifer Luehmann and Crystal Ward; and his grandfather, Clarence Luehmann.

Camaren was deeply loved and will be truly missed by all. Your brother's the "Shepherds" Tony Hernandez and Travis Sprague will forever hold your memory true. They would also like to thank all those who shared their love and support for Cam during his last days and weeks.
Charlotte Brown
Charlotte Brown, 89, of Medford, peacefully left us here on earth to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2004.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Congregational Church of Christ, 1801 E. Jackson St., Medford at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 3.
Her survivors include: her daughters, Charlene Brown of Jacksonville, Pamella Smith of Selma, Jeanine Hull of Yucaipa, California; brother, Harlan Kumler; sister, Mary Ann Bush; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Brown; her son, Danny Brown; and daughter, Diane King.

Johnnie Deane Dailey
Johnnie Deane Dailey, 69, of Central Point died Thursday (April 1, 2004) at his home. At his request no services are planned.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1934 in Bellingham, Washington, to Walt and Mayme Dailey. On Oct. 20, 1956 in Portland he married
Dolores "Dee" Vance Dailey who survives.
Mr. Dailey served in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Timber Products for 27 years, retiring in 1997.
Mr. Dailey enjoyed yardwork, camping, reading non-fiction, and music.
In addition to his wife survivors include: his children, daughter, Shannon Lutts of Newberg, OR, and Kelly Cullen of Gold Hill; brothers, his twin, Jackie Dailey of Medford, Bill Dailey of Talent, Douglas Dailey of Ashland, and Gene Savoy of Reno, NV; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, James.

June Worden Smith
June Worden Smith, 77, of Grants Pass died Friday (March 26, 2004) at her residence. A Quaker Memorial Service will be held at the South Mountain Friends Meeting House, 543 South Mountain Avenue, Ashland at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 18.
June was born on June 5, 1926 in Rushford, New York to Clifford & Anna Worden. She married
John Smith on September 20, 1952; he preceded her in death on March 30, 1983.
June worked as a civil service secretary for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service until her retirement in 1984. She moved to Ashland from Texas in 1987.
June was a member of the South Mountain Friends Quakers, Oregon Watercolor Society, Kerrville Art Club (Texas), Art & Soul Gallery in Ashland & was the featured artist of the month in September 2001. She also served as the secretary for the South Mountain Friends Quaker group in Ashland. June was an accomplished oil & watercolor artist; she enjoyed playing the piano, the organ and the recorder.
Survivors include: Companion Merrill Barnebey of Grants Pass; brother and his wife, Cliff & Mary Worden of Grants Pass; niece and her husband, Julie & Michael Claydon of Grants Pass; niece and her husband, Patricia & Kenton Breidenthal of Applegate; niece and her husband, Gayle & Pete Moore of Tehachapi, CA; Nephew Mike & Heather Breidenthal of Huntington Beach, CA; nephew and his wife, Doug & Melanie Breidenthal of Medford; cousin and his wife Robert & Simone Coffan of Medford; cousin Bob Coffan of Eureka, CA; grandniece Jennifer Claydon of San Pedro, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband John Smith in 1983; and a son, Richard Smith in 1968.

Marvel Lattimer Vukich Marvel Lattimer Vukich, born in Seattle, WA on June 14, 1914 to Emma (Van Luik) and William Lattimer, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 26, 2004 in Bend, Oregon.
Marvel was a natural beauty and had a talent for attracting all the right attentions as a model, spokesperson and actress in the 1920s and 30s. She won Ms. 20th Century Fox in 1933, the year her first daughter, Naujean, was born.
Marvel was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Richard Cuadra. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Vukich; her daughters, Naujean Barrett and Debra Larson; and numerous grandchildren.
Marvel was a beautiful, fun and vivacious lady to the end and everyone around her benefited from her presence. She was an excellent mother, wife and grandmother. Marvel was a success in everything she did, exerting a powerfully positive influence on her family. She will be deeply missed.

Richard V. Kengla
Richard V. Kengla, 61, of Grants Pass, died on March 29, 2004 after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Victor Kengla and the late Mary Janeva Kengla of Medford.
Mr. Kengla received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Oregon in 1964. He graduated from Willamette University School of Law in 1968 and moved to Grants Pass where he practiced law until his retirement in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jeanne Temple Kengla; step-son, Jonas Stewart, both of Grants Pass; and by his brother, Donald Kengla of Atlanta, Georgia.
A memorial service is planned for 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Chapel of the Valley, 2065 Upper River Road, Grants Pass.
Steve McCallister
A celebration of the life of Steve McCallister will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Hawthorne Park.
Steve, 37, of Medford died Monday, March 22, riding his motorcycle, one of his favorite things to do.
He worked as a carpenter. He was a devoted Dad.
