William R. Haas
William R. 'Bill' Haas, 59, died at his home in Medford on February 6, 2004 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born September 19, 1944 in Whittier, CA. He graduated from Lamar High School in Rosenburg-Richmond, TX in 1962 and from the University of Southern California in 1966. On September 9, 1966, in Arcadia, CA he married
Cheryl Ann Paulson who survives.
He was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1969 serving at Fort Knox, KY and Bamberg, Germany. After his discharge he worked at the Fullerton, CA and Conejo Valley, CA Chambers of Commerce before moving to Medford. He managed the Medford Chamber of Commerce from 1980 until his retirement in 2000.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Michele and Scott Ashpole of Medford; his son, Brian Haas of Talent; his brother, Robert Haas of Richmond, TX; his father and step-mother Frank and Marguerite Haas of Schulenburg, TX; and grandchildren, McKenzie and David Ashpole of Medford.
He was a member of the Medford Neighborhood Church where he served as an elder. In the past he was an elder at Applegate Christian Fellowship and Rogue Valley Fellowship as well as teaching financial management Bible studies. Over the years he served on the boards of the United Way, the Airport Commission and the Advisory Board of Southern Oregon State College. He was President of the Oregon Chamber Executives from 1985-1986. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bocce ball and R. V. travel.
A memorial service will be held at the Medford Neighborhood Church on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider giving to the Medford Gospel Mission, Youth for Christ, the Medford Neighborhood Church building fund or a charity of your choice.
He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. His godly example of faith in action will be missed.
Bud Lee
A celebration of the life of Bud Lee will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Perl Funeral Home, at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Rick, Sandy and family would like you to join them in remembrance of a great Dad, brother, grandfather and friend. An open house will follow the service.
Mr. Lee, 59, of Medford, died Feb. 2, 2004 at his home He was born Feb. 12, 1944 at Camp White Military Base, White City to Robert and Jean Lee. He married
Bonnie J. Rowan of Medford. They later divorced.
Mr. Lee was a construction project manager in the Rogue Valley.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, where he loved throwing darts.
Mr. Lee loved fishing and a fun afternoon surrounded by his friends at a local pub watching his favorite football team, the 49ers.
Survivors include, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Lee) and Tim Carter; his son, Rick A. Lee; his sister Carol A. Botwinis; his mother, Jean Lee; and his grandson, Branden M. Lee. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee.
Peggy L. Hubbard
Peggy L. Hubbard, 88, of Phoenix, died January 21, 2004 in Medford. At her request no service is planned.
She was born Louise Margaret Vander Sommen on September 6, 1915 in New York City to John L. and Marguerite Vander Sommen.
Peggy retired from the jewelry business in California before making her home for many years in Oregon. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed bingo and being with friends and family.
She is survived by her son and wife, Pete and Nancy Hubbard, CA; sister, Johnaca Davis, Salem, OR; brother and wife, Albert and Barbara Vander Sommen, CA; sisters-in-law Mary Mollica and Alice Tish, CA; grandchildren Ron and Jennifer Dittmer, Jake and Matt Hubbard; nieces and nephew, Judi Parker, Salem, OR; Susan Frisch, Diane Myers and Mike Vander Sommen, CA; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Carole Dittmer, her parents and two brothers, Harry and Billy Vander Sommen.

Ruby Patten - April 12, 1922 - Feb. 3, 2004
Ruby Patten, 81, of Phoenix, died in Medford on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford. Please park in south parking lot. Rev. Alan Jackson will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mrs. Patten was born April 12, 1922 in Randolph, NE to Leonard and Esther (Hughes) Griffith. She married
Irvin Patten in Grants Pass, OR on February 21, 1944. They lived in Medford most of their lives where Mrs. Patten worked in management at the Knights Inn and Capri Motel.
She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Royal Neighbors of America. She volunteered at the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and delivered food to seniors with Food & Friends.
Mrs Patten enjoyed working in her garden, fishing and doing crafts.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Jana Patten of Eagle Point; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Raymond Palmer of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Denise McGahuey of Medford; sister, Vivian Rennard of Wyoming; cousin, Georgia Wallis of Arizona; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Patten's husband, Irvin, preceded her in death in 1992.

Annabelle Zahnow
Annabelle Zahnow, 78, of Medford, died February 3, 2004 at home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Central Point Conger-Morris with Committal at Eagle Point National cemetery at 1 p.m.
A visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Annabelle was born March 16, 1925, in Butte, MT, the daughter of Bert and Mary Houchin. She married
Theodore Zahnow, Jan. 22, 1955 in Ashland.
She worked at the White City Domiciliary for 35 years.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, loved animals, gardening, crossword puzzles and shopping.

She is survived in addition to her husband; two sons, Ted, Dan and his fiance, Annette; a sister, Velma Deppa; 4 grandsons, Michael, A.J., Brendan and Andrew; 2 granddaughters, Molly and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Carma Catheryn Chipman
Mrs. Chipman, 88, passed from life to Life Sunday (Feb. 1, 2004) at her foster care residence.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1915 in Elk Grove, California to Lulu Mae and Carol Ray Latson.
Mrs. Chipman graduated from the University of California at Davis. She worked as a laboratory technician until her marriage to Harry Chipman on April 18, 1943. They lived in Ashland for a short time before moving to Medford where Harry pursued his career with the Medford Mail Tribune and later as Jackson County Clerk.
Mrs. Chipman was involved in the activites of her three children, A.A.U.W., the Southern Oregon Historical Society, and various charitable organizations. She worked for 17 years as a proofreader for the Medford Mail Tribune. Both she and Harry were active in Kiwanis for over 20 years.
She enjoyed learning about Southern Oregon history. She loved the outdoors, wild flowers, butterflies and going for rides in the woods.
She is survived by her sister Caro Lou Rodda of Sacramento. CA; a son Wayne of Central Point; daughters, Sharon Myers of Central Point, and Lyn Rush of Mesa, AZ; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Her husband of 55 years preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Carma Chipman will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at First Christian Church, Medford.

Georgia Joanne McFarland
Georgia Joanne McFarland, 71, of Ashland died peacefully in the arms of her husband, Jim, at home on February 3, 2004. She was born June 3, 1932 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Herschel and Ina Pearson, now deceased. She graduated as salutatorian from Fife High School in 1954 and in 1989 received a BA in Fine and Performing Arts at SOU, completing one of her lifetime goals. She married
James McFarland in Corvallis, OR, on September 4, 1954. They have lived in Ashland since 1969. Georgia chose to stay home and raise her children during their early years. Professionally, she served as administrative assistant to the Dean of the School of Home Economics at OSU and the Dean of Students at SOSC. She also worked as a legal secretary and in a medical office.
She was a past president of Chapter AC of P.E.O. She served as a volunteer at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival for many years. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, for 34 years. She taught and played piano for the children's Sunday school, was a member of the Altar Guild, choir and Memorial Committee. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vinette Gross. Survivors include her husband, Jim; a brother Harris Pearson, Newberg OR; son Jeff McFarland, Jacksonville; daughter, Michelle Parton, Olympia, WA; and six grandchildren.
Due to remodeling at Trinity Episcopal, a memorial service will be led by Trinity's Rector, Rev. Anne Bartlett, at the Presbyterian Church, Siskiyou Blvd. and Walker Ave., Ashland, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 North 2nd St. Ashland or to the Georgia and Jim McFarland Scholarship Fund at SOU.
Joe Gordon Denison
Joe Gordon Denison, 76, of Canyonville, died Tuesday (February 4, 2004) at Hearthstone Manor, Medford. No services are scheduled at this time.

Joe was born on May 9, 1927 in Payden, OK to John Wesla and Mary Etta (Craig) Denison. On June 2, 1973, he married
Donna Lee Hill, who survives.
Before retiring in 1985, he worked for 40 years for McDonald-Douglas in Huntington Beach, CA.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Denison of Canyonville; four children, Joe Denison and his wife Rose, Debra Maciel, Sheila Mangino, and Chris Hill; a sister, Mary Butterfield; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren, Arrangements; Perl Funeral Home, Medford.
Mary Eveline Parker
The memorial service for Mary Parker will be at 3 p.m., Sunday at First Baptist Church, Central Point. Pastor Damon McCoy will officiate.
Mrs. Parker 93, of Medford, died Thurs., Feb. 5, 2004 at Providence Medical Center. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 100 Oak St., Central Point, OR 97502.
She was born in Caney, Kansas on Sept. 17, 1910. Parents were Joseph H. Brown and Mary E. Day Brown. She had 7 brothers and 1 sister.
On June 14, 1930 in Tulsa, OK, she married
Clarence W. Parker, who preceded her in death on April 2, 2003. They had a happy marriage of 73 years. Mary was a homemaker. She was a Christian and truly loved her Lord and Savior.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces, and many friends.
S. Bon Cordier
S. Bon Cordier, 69, of Rogue River, died Tuesday, February 2, 2004 at his home.
At his request there will be no services. He asked that people remember him in their own way. Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.
Bon was born on November 28, 1934 in Dover, New Jersey to S. Bon, Sr. and Irene Cordier. He moved to the Rogue Valley when he was 6 years old, living in Central Point and Jacksonville. He graduated from Medford High School in 1953 and Oregon Technical Institute in 1955.
Bon worked for Safeway before completing 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he worked for Flahrers Bakery and Smith Lumber Company in Medford, retiring in 1991.
On December 27, 1991 he married
Lois A. Fowler in Reno, Nevada. After three years in Salem, they moved to the Rogue River area near Wimer, where he was closer to his beloved hunting and fishing spots.
Bon never knew a stranger. He loved people and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include: wife, Lois; son, S. Bon Cordier III of Medford; daughter, Shelli Benjamin of Davidson, Michigan; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Maryhugh Cordier of Medford; honorary mother, Ruth Warner of Medford; 3 grandchildren; and 6 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Clare McCarroll, brother, John Perry Cordier, and nephew, Michael Cordier.

Betty Robbins
Betty Robbins, 79, of Ashland, died peacefully at home on February 19, 2004.
A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at 1:15pm at Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 E. Main St. in Ashland, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Scenic Hills Memorial Park. Rabbi Marc Sirinsky will officiate. The family will receive friends after the burial at Betty's condo, 960 Golden Aspen Place at Mountain Meadows Retirement Center, for a time of remembrance all Sunday evening.
She is survived by her children, Judd Robbins of Ashland, Steven Robbins of San Diego, CA, Sandra Robbins of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and Jacqueline Robbins of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Joshua and Eli Robbins, Alix and Greg Snyder and Shelief and Alyeska Juarez-Robbins.

Gregory Calvin Hayes
Gregory Calvin Hayes, 50, of Talent died Thursday (Feb. 19, 2004) in Talent. A memorial service will be arranged in March.
Greg was born on Jan. 20, 1954. He lived his entire life in the Rogue Valley. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1972.
He enjoyed a bliss-filled life of music, philosophy, football, military history, cycling, and his dear friends and family.
He is fondly remembered by his family: father and mother, Calvin and Roberta Hayes of Talent; brother, Lou Hayes of Talent; sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Bob Stewart of Medford.

Michael Roy 'Mike' Gibson A memorial service for Michael "Mike" Gibson will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at SW Church of the Nazarene, 1481 S. Columbus, Medford. Pastor Don Farnsworth will officiate.
Mr. Gibson, 54, died Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2004) at his home.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1949 in Medford to Boyd and Temple Gibson. He was a lifelong resident of the Rogue Valley, graduating from Medford High School.
He worked in several fruit industries until his retirement.
Mr. Gibson enjoyed fishing, camping, his truck, people and his family.
Survivors include his parents, Boyd and Temple Gibson; his brothers and their wives, Mitch and Paul, Kelly and Karen; Kent and Teresa; and his close family friends, Helen Puckett. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jennie Schnieder, George Gibson and Harry and Esther Rose.
