John Alden Lambert Sr.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2003, John Alden Lambert Sr. died peacefully of natural causes surrounded by his loving family.
John served our country as a pilot in World War II and enjoyed flying his own J-3 Cub airplane over the local skies.
John was 86 years old and lived in Central Point, OR.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Virginia; his daughter, Ginger Smith; his son, Jack Lambert; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
John and Virginia lived in the local area for the past thirty-three years and owned and operated the Provolt country store in Provolt, OR from 1970 until 1980.
Services will be held at 10:30 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 8, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford.

Stephen Carroll Passmore
Stephen Carroll Passmore, lovingly known as the Walking Man, died suddenly last week after suffering from the flu for several days.
Stephen was born on December 9, 1949. Currently of San Diego CA, Steve lived in Central Point, Medford and Molalla, OR in previous years, as well as Hawaii, Florida, and New Mexico.
Steve was a carpenter, a member of the Madrigal singers in his youth and a veteran of the air force.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessie of San Diego; his father, Arlie of Central Point; brothers, Michael of Longmeadow, MA, John of Waianae, HI, and Matthew of Central Point; and his sister, Mona Bekedam-Passmore of Deventer, NL.
A memorial was held in San Diego on Sunday Nov. 30th and a private scattering of the ashes will take place in Hawaii in the spring.
Albert R. Platt
The funeral service for Albert R. Platt will be at 2 p.m. today (Dec. 2, 2003) at Hillcrest Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Platt, 79, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 28, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923 in Cleveland, OH to Francis and Inez (Strunk) Platt. On June 16, 1945 in Lakewood, OH he married
Maisie Hughes who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Platt retired after 34 years with Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a Power Manager.
He loved working around the house, doing yard work, and ballroom dancing. He moved to the Rogue Valley from North Ridgeville, Ohio in February of 1983.
Mr. Platt was a member of the Republican Club, North Olmsted Dance Club, and Telephone Pioneers.
In addition to his wife survivors include; two daughters, Carol Hill of Medford, and Laura Bartosch of North Ridgeville, OH; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Road, Medford.
Bobby Don Tadlock
A memorial service for Bobby Don Tadlock will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Coleman Creek Estates Recreation Hall, 135 Fern Valley Road, Medford.
Bobby went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003). He was 64 years old and had been battling cancer for the last six months.
Mr. Tadlock was born June 30, 1939 in Durant, OK to Joseph and Rosie Tadlock. He was one of twelve children. On Aug. 3, 1959 he met and married
his soulmate Helen Pointer who survives.
He worked for Medco for 24½ years and Associated Fruit Company for 7 years.
In addition to his wife survivors include 2 sons, Randy and Donald; a daughter, Sandra; two brothers; one sister; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Florence Libby A memorial service for Florence Libby will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 3, 2003, at the West Main Church of Christ. A family graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetary.
Mrs. Libby, 83, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 28, 2003) peacefully at her home.

She was born on July 7, 1920 in Alpin, ND, the youngest daughter of Carl and Agatha Stephens. She moved to the Rogue Valley as a young child and has lived in the valley for the rest of her life. On Jan. 17, 1942, in Virginia City, NV, she married
Leslie Libby, who preceded her in death in 1986.
As a young woman, she worked for C.O.P.C.O. and the Chamber of Commerce. She worked in the kitchen at Crater High School from 1964 to 1985.
Her Christian beliefs have been the center of her life and have guided her actions. She has been an active member of the West Main Church of Christ since 1951, when the congregation first began meeting.
She loved her family and they all loved her. In one of her papers she wrote, "I appreciate my kids very much!! and their families." Mrs. Libby is survived by two sisters, Gladys Bigham of Sams Valley, and Pirena Cunningham of Caldwell, Idaho; three sons, John Libby and wife Meredith of Roseburg, Jim Libby and wife Donna of Klamath Falls, and Don Libby and wife Dawn of Medford; and eight grandchildren, Kim Rammage and husband Scott of Roseburg, Drew Libby of Abilene, Texas, Desiree Moore and husband James of Medford. David Libby of Klamath Falls, Donald Libby of Medford, Jason Libby and wife Monica of Medford, Steven Libby of Klamath Falls and Karen Libby of Klamath Falls.

Frank J. Rose
Mar. 18, 1944-Nov. 22, 2003 On November 22, we lost a soul mate, best friend, devoted husband and loving father to a short but hard battle with cancer.
Frank J. Rose was born March 18, 1944 in Concord, CA. He lived there until moving to Happy Camp, CA with his grandparents John and Lee Thomas, graduating from Happy Camp High School in 1962. In August 1969, in Reno, he married
Carol Stearns. They had two children, Sherri Thompson and Brian Rose, along with two grandchildren, Mercedez Rose and Zac Thompson, who were the love of his life.
They moved back to Oregon in 1975. At the time of his death he was employed by Timber Products where he was active in Woodworkers local I.A.M.W. 261.
Frank had a great love for football and was a long time Rams fan, and for the last several years he had been a season ticket holder and loudest cheering fan for the U of O Ducks.
His generosity, helpfulness and thoughtfulness toward others had touched many people during his lifetime. He will not only be missed by his family, but by his many friends who were there for us with prayers, love, and words of encouragement.

There will be a special memories memorial Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Medford Friends Church, 525 DeBarr Ave. John Hilkey will officiate.

Karen L. Lara-Fleming
Karen Lee Lara-Fleming, 45, of the Applegate Valley, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.
Karen was a hopeless romantic and old-fashioned spirit. She was a lover of dancing, art and horses.
She is survived by her husband Buzz Fleming; mother Ramona Salzer; father Robert Lara; her other mom and good friend Patricia Lara; brother, Kurt Lara; and sister Diana Stanley.
Karen will live on through her four children, Nocean Flower, Buck Fever, Velvet Rose, Dakota Blue; and grandchild Alexia Marie; her nieces and nephews, David and Jenny Lara, Michael, Jade, Jacob, Jesse, Savannah, Nicole and Hailey.
The celebration of Karen's life will be held at the Lara residence on Elliot Creek at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003.
Sis will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Karen lived to love - and loved to live.
Viola Fae Gish
The funeral service for Viola "Vi" Fae Gish will be held at Perl Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003.
Mrs. Gish, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 28, 2003) at home.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1927 in Longview, WA. She was the oldest of four children, Dorothy, (deceased), George and Rose. In Aug. 1950 she married
James L. Gish who survives. They moved to Medford in 1960 to be with their two children.
She enjoyed golf, bridge, camping, skiing, knitting, and entertaining. Her family were the most important.
In addition to her husband survivors include; a son, Greg his wife Sherri, and their two children Jason and Leslie; and a daughter Kim and her son Ryan, all living in Oregon; and a brother; and a sister.
Margaret Vestal Taylor
The visitation and funeral service for Margaret Vestal Taylor will be Monday, December 1, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church, Ashland, with Rev. Michael Powell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. A reception will follow in the church Fireside Room. Private interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Margaret V. Taylor, 90, of Ashland, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at Ashland Community Hospital with four generations of family at her side.
Margaret was born May 22, 1913 in Sand Point, Idaho, the only daughter of Gaylord and Della (Yaryan) Vestal. The family moved to Ashland in 1919 and she graduated from Ashland High School in 1931. On September 12, 1936 in Ashland she married
Loris E. Taylor, who preceded her in death September 18, 1993.
Margaret enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with her beloved husband, and was an avid gardener. Her flower garden included dahlias and roses and was enjoyed by neighbors and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ashland since childhood.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggie and James Irvin of Sultan, WA; brother, Robert Vestal, Ashland; grandchildren and spouses, Cindy and Phillip Jordan of Monroe, WA and Wendy Irvin and Daniel Bowman of Monroe, WA; great-grandchildren, Della McCraine of Oxford, ALc Justin Jordan of Snohomish, WA, Brooke Jordan of Monroe, WA and Jordan Lynn Irvin-Bowman of Monroe, WA; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, cousins, and friends. An infant brother, Virgil, brother Donald and brother, Gaylord Vestal, preceded her in death, Gaylord most recently in June of this year.

Ethel Maebell Allen
Mar. 15, 1921-Nov. 26, 2003 Ethel Maebell Allen died at a local care home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003. She was 82.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Medford First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Bob Roth will officiate.
Mrs. Allen was born March 15, 1921 in Murfreesboro, AR to Marion and Nettie (Hutchings) Lamb. She married
Lois T. Allen in Nashville, AR on August 2, 1941. They moved from Nashville to Medford in 1951. Mrs. Allen worked in food service at the VA White City Domiciliary from 1966 until 1987. She was a member of the Lozier Lane Baptist Church and the AARP.
Survivors include her husband, Lois T. Allen of Medford; son, David Allen of Medford; daughter, Mary Roseland Edwards of Bamberg, Germany; grandson, William A. Edwards of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughters, Kristin R. Allen of Corvallis, Shauna L. Allen of Medford, Lindsay M. Edwards of Bamberg, Germany; sisters, Minnie Lee White of Nashville, AR, Ruby Walls of Murfreesboro, AR, Nellie Hadaway of Foreman, AR, and Mildred L. Austin of Reno, NV; brothers, William A. Lamb and Charles Jewel Lamb, both of Nashville, AR. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Pearl Lamb and a brother, Floyd Ray Lamb.

Mary Edith (Arnold) Harsh
The celebration of the life of Mary Edith (Arnold) Harsh will be at 12:30 p.m., Sat., Dec. 6, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church of Central Point located at 456 West Pine Street.
Mary was born in Denver, Colorado on June 4, 1911. She married
Merril William Harsh of Greeley, Colorado on July 14. 1934. In 1942, they moved to Salem, Oregon and in 1946, to Central Point.
Known to many as the "Lace Angel Lady, " Mary received her wings on November 17, 2003. The family wishes to thank the Hospice program at R.V.M.C. and her two caregivers for their support in caring for Mary in her home.
In 1946, Mary helped reorganize the First Presbyterian Church in Central Point and was an active member for 57 years. She was an Enabler for Presbytery of the Cascades, sang in church choirs for 70 years, taught Sunday school for 40 years, and was one of the original English Handbell ringers in her church.
Mary was a 50 plus life member of Nevita Chapter No. 93 Order of the Eastern Star. serving as Worthy Matron, and as Guardian for the Order of Jobs Daughters.
After retiring from the Jackson County Assessors Office, Mary enjoyed her roses, crafting, and was a perfect "Mrs Claus" for her son, Santa Dwight, at the Central Point Christmas festivities.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Merril William Harsh. She is survived by her cousin Wilbur "Smitty" Smith and his children of Tacoma, WA; nephews Dale Berndt of Colorado and Jerry Harsh of Florida; her children and their families, Douglas Arnold Harsh of Denver, Colorado, Melvin Aaron Harsh of Central Point, Cathleen Ann Godfrey of Talent, and Dwight William Harsh of Central Point; 14 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be conducted by her pastor, the Reverend Daniel Beteta, assisted by the Reverend John Braun.
Mary's family wishes to thank all of her friends and associates for their love and friendship.
In lieu of flowers Mary asked that donations be made to the English Handbell Choir at her church or the Estarl fund of Nevita Chapter #93, Order of Eastern Star, Central Point, Oregon.
Daisy Mae Trowbridge
A memorial service for Daisy Mae Trowbridge will be held Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in Lancaster, CA. Pastor Al Andrews will officiate.
Mrs. Trowbridge, 84, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 23, 2003) at Three Fountains Nursing Care Center.
She was born in Perry, OK, to Carl Almore and Mildred (Bower) Wilson. Mrs. Trowbridge moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Atlanta GA.
She was a member of the First Nazarene Church.
Mrs. Trowbridge enjoyed reading, knitting and Bible studies.
Survivors include; her daughter, Donna Martinez of Springfield, OR; her son-in-law, Larry Anderson of Medford; 5 sisters, Esther Enloe and Janet Bittle of Bakersfield, CA, Wanda Schoenthal of Los Olivos, CA, Betty Carrigan and Frances Henderson of Lancaster, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ora A. Trowbridge in 1981, her daughter, Beverly Ann Anderson, in 2001, and 2 brothers, John and Bob Wilson.

Jack T. Ray
Jack T. Ray, 63, of White City, died November 24, 2003 in Los Angeles, CA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Elks Lodge, 202 N. Central Ave., Medford.
Jack was born in LaGrande on August 4, 1940 to Malcolm and Shirley Ray, who preceded him in death on August 22, 2001.
After attending school, he joined the Coast Guard serving a tour of four years which included trips to the Antartic and Alaska. After his military time he spent 42 years seeing the world through the windshield of an 18 wheeler.
Jack enjoyed his annual elk hunting trips with family and friends, fishing, golfing, camping and most of all, reading.
Most importantly, he loved spending quality time with family and friends, of which there were many. In addition to his wife, of 32 years, Wanda, he is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Peters of White City, Wendy Ray of Orland, CA, and Tammy Barklow and husband, Bryce of Coos Bay; brothers, Mike Ray and wife, Kathy of West Linn, OR, and Howard Ray and wife, Claudia of Junction City, OR; sister, Beverly Perry of Eureka, CA; grandchildren, Amber, Eric, Emery, Mindy, JuliAnne, Jami, A.J. and Jacob. 1 great-granddaughter, Mya. As well as Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
