Robert Andrew Shibler
The Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Andrew Shibler will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass. The Rev. Gregory Moys will officiate. Committal will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, Grants Pass.
Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Viewing will follow.
Mr. Shibler, 85, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (June 8, 2003) at his home.

He was born June 20, 1917, in Homer, Mich., to Albert and Margaret (Wernette) Shibler. On June 21, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif., he married
Alma Winkleman, who died March 6, 2003.
Growing up, Mr. Shibler worked on his uncle’s farm raising chickens, potatoes and other crops. In 1935 and 1936, he was a section line surveyor for the Civil Conservation Corps working out of Rapid River, Mich. Later he worked as an engine and body mechanic in a family garage in Remus, Mich., and as a glass packer and inspector with Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich. In 1940, he moved to California to attend the Curtiss Wright Technical Institute and in 1941 began his career as an aircraft mechanic, engine installer and engine tester at McClellan Field Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., and at San Bernardino Army Air Field in San Bernardino, Calif.
He and his wife moved to Rogue River from San Bernardino, Calif., in 1956, and he raised cattle, alfalfa, wheat, barley and Christmas trees on his 51-acre farm. He also worked as a paint and tire salesman at Montgomery Ward in Grants Pass. He moved to Vintage Suites in Grants Pass in 1998.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army toward the end of World War II.
Mr. Shibler was a member of Rogue River Catholic Community and St. Anne Catholic Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette T. Shibler, Grants Pass, and Darlene Stout, Reno, Nev.; three sons, Ronald A., Portland, Richard, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Larry, Olympia, Wash.; a sister, Maxine Lenon, Remus, Mich.; three brothers, John, Avon, N.M., Ed, Weott, Calif., and Jim, Atlanta, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Jerry Ray Bolien
A celebration of the life of Jerry Ray Bolien will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Medford. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Bolien, 66, of Medford, died Sunday (June 8, 2003) at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1936, in Ellensburg, Wash., to Forrest and Gretchen Kathleen (Johnson) Bolien. He attended several Oregon colleges including his favorite, Oregon State University. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1965 from Portland. On May 21, 1983, in Phoenix, he married
Linda Jahnke, who survives.
Mr. Bolien was a financial adviser for 32 years. He spent 26 years with Smith Barney and then worked as the first vice president financial adviser for Morgan Stanley.
He was a 30-year member of the Medford First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Oregon State Alumni and was an avid Beavers fan.
Mr. Bolien was a pilot. He enjoyed travel, especially to Hawaii, snow skiing, playing golf, and collecting Lionel trains.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include six daughters, Carol Terry, Azalea, Diane Bolien and Kathy Bolien, both Central Point, and Hope Bolien, Jennifer Lucas-Bolien and Brittany Lucas-Bolien, all Medford; a stepson, Scott Lucas, Shady Cove; a stepdaughter, Lezley Lucas, Talent; and four grandchildren.

Gemina Catabay Cerdan
The funeral for Gemina Catabay Cerdan will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Cerdan, 83, of Medford, died Saturday (June 7, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born Gemina Catabay on Feb. 14, 1920, in Anda, Pangasinan, Philippines. On June 23, 1943, in the Philippines, she married
Marcelo Cerdan, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cerdan was an elementary school teacher in the Philippines. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from the Philippines.
She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include six daughters, Felicitas Arquero, Angeles Chan, Teresita Asuncion, Gemina Gabrillo, Gloria Garcia and Lena Delfin; five sons, Marcelo Jr., Benjamin, Ernesto, Sotero and Francis; two sisters, Hilaria Casis and Christina Rafanan; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Alfredo; a sister, Juanita Hidalgo; an a brother, Tiberio Catabay.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
William Ralph McElfresh
The memorial service for William Ralph McElfresh will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Masonic Lodge on North Phoenix Road in Medford. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mr. McElfresh, 84, of Medford, died Sunday (June 8, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born June 19, 1918, in Elwood, Ind. On May 25, 1946, in Anderson, Ind., he married
Ethel Errick, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Chula Vista, Calif.
Mr. McElfresh served in the U.S. Navy as a aviation store keeper during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 23½ years. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and in civil service as a store keeper and supervisor. He also worked as a bookkeeper for a cabinet-making company.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason and was a member and worshipful master of Medford Masonic Lodge and a Scottish Rite Shriner. He was also a member of the Central Point Independent Order of Odd Fellows, where he was a past grand master.
Mr. McElfresh was an avid reader and enjoyed old movies and country music.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Zia Curry and Sue McElfresh, both Medford; a son, Bill Jr., Manteca, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Young, Elwood, Ind., and Carolyn Rose Thomas, Hartford City, Ind.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild and two brothers, Eugene and Victor.

Constance G. Cummons
The memorial service for Constance Geraldine Cummons will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Medford. Pastor Kevin Gowland will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.

She was born July 24, 1924, in Woodmere, N.Y., to Clarence and Nellie Dickson. On July 5, 1957, in Stevenson, Wash., she married
Charles Lincoln Cummons, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1983 from Lewiston, N.Y.
Mrs. Cummons was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was active with the Church Home Bound Ministry.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Paul, Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Loren, Vancouver, Wash.; three daughters, Beverly Cox, Central Point, Wanda Gemaelech, Medford, and Jenean Withrow, The Dalles; a sister, Frances Hillis, Boyertown, Pa.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris P. Caster
The memorial service for Doris P. Caster will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff will officiate.
Mrs. Caster, 78, of Medford, died May 16, 2003, in Medford.

Jane Birk Jacobberger

Mrs. Jacobberger, 83, of Medford, died Saturday (June 7, 2003) at her home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Kokomo, Ind., to Charles A. and Mabel Ursula (Thatcher) Birk. On Nov. 5, 1941, in Omaha, Neb., she married
Francis M. Jacobberger, who died in 1992. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from Omaha.
Mrs. Jacobberger was a homemaker and a member of the LDS Church.
She enjoyed genealogy, word games, piano and studying German.
Survivors include four sons, Francis, Salt Lake City, Thomas, Tiburon, Calif., Douglas, Boston, and Henri, Port Orchard, Wash.; four daughters, Jennifer Benson, Mesa, Ariz., Jannette Davis, Omaha, Frances M. Anderson, Merced, Calif., and Mary Austad, Portland; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John; and two brothers, Charles and Allen Birk.

William ‘Bill’ C. Waugh
The memorial service for William "Bill" Charles Waugh will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Tabernacle in Ashland. Pastor Dan Prince will officiate. Inurnment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Waugh, 73, of Talent, died June 2, 2003, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 8, 1929, in San Francisco. He earned a bachelor’s degree in insurance from San Francisco University in California. On May 28, 1954, in San Francisco, he married
Nelly M. Rocha, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1974 from San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Waugh started his insurance career in 1954 working as a marketing representative at The Hartford and stayed with them for almost 30 years. After his retirement, he opened the Woodland Insurance Agency in Ashland. He then moved the operation to the Talent Insurance Agency, where he worked until his death.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Waugh was a member of the Ashland Duplicate Bridge Club, Ashland Pinochle Club and the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship. He served on the Talent City Council for two terms.
He was a member of the board of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and later, the Ashland Foursquare Church.
Mr. Waugh enjoyed bowling, swimming and playing bridge.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Philip, Medford; a daughter, Jennifer Hanson, Ashland; a sister, Eleanor Hatt, Napa, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Frank E. Collins
The visitation for Frank E. Collins will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home in Grants Pass.
Mr. Collins, 84, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (June 11, 2003) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.
He was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Boulder, Colo., to Frank and May Collins. On June 22, 1940, in Menlo Park, Calif., he married
Arlene Lindland, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass from Palo Alto, Calif., in 1999.
Mr. Collins was a former scout leader with the Explorer Scouts in California for many years. He enjoyed computers, traveling and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Don, Livermore, Calif., and Doug, Cupertino, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gary F. Leonard
A celebration of the life of Gary F. Leonard will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Applegate.
Mr. Leonard, 58, of Jacksonville, died Thursday (June 12, 2003) in Portland.
He was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Eugene. He lived in the Rogue Valley for at least 25 years.
Mr. Leonard was a baker at Ashland Bakery and Cafe.
He was a chef, pastry/bread baker and a poet.
Survivors include a son, Timothy, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a daughter, Tiffany, Seattle; his parents, Anne and Fred Leonard, Philomath; a sister, Teresa, Loveland, Colo.

Olaf ‘Ole’ Walter Severson
The funeral for Olaf "Ole" Walter Severson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses, 965 W. Harvard Blvd., Roseburg. Ralph Preston will officiate. Members of Elks Lodge No. 326 will provide ritualistic services. Interment will follow at Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars District No. 12 Honor Guard.
Mr. Severson, 87, of Roseburg, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (June 10, 2003) in Roseburg.

He was born May 5, 1916, in Medford, to Olaf Tobias and Ethel Laura (Potts) Severson. He served as a tail gunner in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific.
After the war, Mr. Severson moved to Klamath Falls, where he went to work in one of the downtown markets. In the early 1950s, he moved to Myrtle Creek and worked in a meat market to become a butcher. He moved to Roseburg in the late 1950s, where he operated a butcher shop at the South Stephens Market, and worked as a butcher for Byrd’s Market, Boyer Meat Co. and others.
In 1952, in Reno, Nev., he married
Ruth Watkins, who died in 1976.
Mr. Severson was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge in Roseburg.
Survivors include a sister, Thelma Shelton, Medford; a step-grandson; and a step-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew.
