Albert W. ‘Corky’ Sayers
The memorial service for Albert W. "Corky" Sayers will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National cemetery. American Legion Post No. 28 of Grants Pass will officiate.
Mr. Sayers, 70, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (July 20, 2003) at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Pittsfield, Mass.
Mr. Sayers worked in construction until his retirement. He moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from California.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Sayers was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed animals and painting them, especially birds and dogs.
Survivors include a sister, Joanne Alves, Gold Hill; and a brother, Gordon, Long Beach, Calif.

Alice Drennen
The funeral for Alice Drennen will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point.
Mrs. Drennen, 78, of Central Point, died Saturday (July 19, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Alice Cavanaugh on Feb. 4, 1925, in Dorchester, Mass. In June 1944, in Richmond, Va., she married
Walter Drennen, who died in 1980. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Massachusetts.
She attended what is now Southern Oregon University, graduating as a licensed practical nurse in 1968.
Mrs. Drennen was a licensed practical nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center Neonatal Unit for 23 years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association, local chapter, Mended Hearts and Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church Altar Society.
Mrs. Drennen enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul, crocheting, needlework and playing Paquina.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce, Karen and Mady; two sisters, Gert Finn and Helen DeMille; a brother, Bobbie Cavanaugh; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, May Otis and Hazel Cavanaugh; and four brothers, Johnny, Dick, George and Jim Cavanaugh.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Thomas James Cox
The memorial service for Thomas James Cox will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. Pastor Harmon Dickey of Living Praise Tabernacle will officiate.
Mr. Cox, 72, of White City, died Friday (July 18, 2003) at his home.
He was born May 21, 1931, in Cash, Okla., to Joe and Sarah Cox. In Chickasha, Okla., he married
Drewcella Mae English, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from Texas.
Mr. Cox worked as a transmission specialist and salesman.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952.
Mr. Cox enjoyed playing guitar and singing and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mike, White City, and Thomas Jr., Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Angela Oliver, Eagle Point, and Brenda Cox, White City; a brother, Charles, in Texas; four sisters, Katie, Helen and Mildred, all in Oklahoma, and Marie, in Washington; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Richard ‘Dick’ Wallace
The memorial service for Richard "Dick" Wallace will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Central Point Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Wallace, 66, of Keizer, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Monday (July 21, 2003) at Salem Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1937, in Fillmore, Calif., but lived most of his life in the Rogue Valley. He graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1956. On July 6, 1956, in Medford, he married
Marvena Nelsen, who survives.
Mr. Wallace was a heavy equipment operator in the Rogue Valley. He moved to Keizer in 1987.
He enjoyed racing and had raced at the Medford speedway from 1965 until 1971, when he became track champion. He was also a Portland Trailblazer fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 47 years, include two sons, Richard, Eagle Point, and Rodney, Beaver; two daughters, Roni Mathieson, White City, and Rande Gillig, Central Point; a half-brother, James Gilbreath, Central Point; and eight grandchildren.

Maynard ‘Bill’ W. Dickerson
A gathering of the family and friends of Maynard "Bill" William Dickerson will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the family home. A private service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Dickerson, 80, of Central Point, died Sunday (July 20, 2003) at his home.
He was born June 12, 1923, in Bremerton, Wash., to Eugene Barrie and Daisy Georgia (Maynard) Dickerson. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He married
Ellen Louise Holterhoff, who survives.
Mr. Dickerson worked in the nuclear field for General Electric from 1947 to 1959. In 1960, he went to work for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission until his retirement in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Navy until 1946.
Mr. Dickerson enjoyed traveling, computer software and caring for his home and yard.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two stepdaughters, Ronnelle Gay, Newberg, and Suzanne Benton, Lawrence, Kan.; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a daughter.

Ronald Lewis Baumgardner
The memorial service for Ronald Lewis Baumgardner will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Church, 304 Beatty St., Medford. Maj. Rodger Davis will officiate. A potluck will follow.
Mr. Baumgardner, 70, of Grants Pass, died July 13, 2003, at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass.

He was born March 2, 1933, in Portland and raised in Scappoose, where he met Delores Faye Cook in 1951. They were married
Oct. 17, 1953. They moved to Medford in 1958 and to Grants Pass in 1991.
Mr. Baumgardner began working for the Salvation Army in Medford in 1970. When he moved to Grants Pass, he volunteered for the Grants Pass Salvation Army ringing bells. He retired at age 62.
He was a member of the Salvation Army in Medford and Grants Pass; a seventh-degree and nearly 25-year member of the Phoenix Grange; and a member of the Fruitdale Grange. He enjoyed ringing the bells for the Salvation Army at Christmastime.
He also enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time with his children, working with children at the Salvation Army and watching John Wayne movies.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Deborah Faye Baumgardner, Grants Pass; his adopted sister, Dorothy Elevaud, Gaston; a brother, Orville, Adrian; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lewis Baumgardner.

Olga Louise Cotter
Olga Louise Cotter, 93, of Rogue River, died Sunday (July 20, 2003) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. No service is planned.

She was born March 3, 1910, in London. She came to the United States as a young child and grew up in Southern California.
Mrs. Cotter was an insurance underwriter. She moved to Rogue River on July 14, 2003, from El Segundo, Calif., where she had lived for 41 years.
She was a member of the El Segundo Seniors and the Redondo Beach Seniors and enjoyed dancing, playing pool, her family and her cat.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Irwin, Rogue River; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vernon Cotter and Carl Brown; a son, Norman; and a grandson, Gary Holloway.

Chester Howard Bauleke
Chester Howard Bauleke, 91, of Medford, died Thursday (July 17, 2003) at a foster care home in Medford. No service is planned.
He was born March 15, 1912, in Blakeley, Minn., to Henry and Annie Bauleke.
Mr. Bauleke worked for Livermore Laboratories in Livermore, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 2001 from Portola, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Bauleke enjoyed fishing and John Wayne movies.
He is survived by a brother, Maynard, Lawrence, Kan.

Alton Rex Dutoit
Alton Rex Dutoit, 86, of Phoenix, died Saturday (July 19, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National cemetery.
He was born May 23, 1917, in Dighton, Kan. On Sept. 1, 1940, in Salem, he married
Viola Walther, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1999 from Salem.
Mr. Dutoit worked as a mechanic. He was a pin-setter at Town and Country Lanes is Salem.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Dutoit was a member of the People’s Church of Salem.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Rita Howe, Medford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol J. Sorby; five brothers; and three sisters.

Terry Lee Smith
Terry Lee Smith, 51, of Prospect, died Thursday (July 17, 2003) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born June 12, 1952, in Sacramento, Calif. On June 27, 1990, in Reno, Nev., he married
Laura Peterson, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Roseville, Calif.
Mr. Smith was a heavy equipment operator and a logger.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Sean and Erich, both Prospect; three daughters, Amy Smith and Wendy Smith, both Citrus Heights, Calif., and Jaime Kinsfler, Cave Junction; his parents, Tommy Lee and Sylvia Smith, Sacramento; a brother, Alan, Rocklin, Calif.; a sister, Denise Black, Palm Springs, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Marjorie Caroline Wells
The funeral for Marjorie Caroline Wells was held Thursday at Rogue Valley Christian Church in Medford. Pastor Tim Shields officiated.
Mrs. Wells, 81, of Phoenix, died Monday (July 14, 2003) at her home.
The date of death was incorrect in Wednesday’s obituary.
Maralee Schroeder
The memorial service for Maralee Schroeder will be at 11 a.m. today at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3280 River Road, Eugene. The graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend.
Mrs. Schroeder, 85, of Eugene, formerly of Central Point, died Tuesday (July 15, 2003) in Eugene, where she had lived since 1991.
She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Little Rock, Ark. On Nov. 9, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo., she married
Albert C. Schroeder, who died in 1994. They lived in Central Point from 1973 to 1979, where Albert Schroeder served as the minister of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. They lived in Bend from 1983 until 1991, when they moved to Eugene.
Survivors include three sons, Ed, Springdale, Ark., Bob, Walled Lake, Mich., and Mel, Indianapolis; two daughters, Maralee McHugh, Eugene, and Kathy Braeunig, Salem; three brothers, Ed Hansen, Houston, Bill Hansen, Bali, Indonesia, and Hank Hansen, Seymour, Ind.; four sisters, Gert Swindler, Provo, Utah, Ruth Rodewald, Concordia, Mo., Helen Hall, Seymour, Ind., and Betty Shoemaker, Vallonia, Ind. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Elaine; and two brothers, Herman and Walter Hansen.

David H. Greer
The memorial service for David Hugh Greer will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ashland First Baptist Church. Pastor Dwayne Robinson and Rick Daniels will officiate. Inurnment will be at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Mr. Greer, 59, of Ashland, died Wednesday (July 16, 2003) at his home.

He was born May 25, 1944, in Salem, to Wilma and Hugh Greer and graduated from high school in Myrtle Point. He attended Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay and later earned a bachelor’s degree from what is now Southern Oregon University in Ashland. On July 1, 1973, in Honolulu, he married
Kathy Oshima, who survives.
Mr. Greer was an officer and detective with the Ashland Police Department from 1974 to 1979. He was an insurance agent with Farmers Insurance Group for several years and was part-owner of Timberland Trucking. He later worked for Jim Oldland Distributing and for the past 13 years worked for Croman Corporation managing their truck division.
He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam and Okinawa.
Mr. Greer enjoyed his faith, his family and work.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Dustin, Seattle; a daughter, Leilani Treesh, Tigard; his parents, Hugh and Wilma Greer, Coquille; a sister, Dian Wigger, La Pine; and one granddaughter.
