Gordon A. Brainerd
The memorial service for Gordon A. Brainerd will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass. Pastor Steve Parker will officiate. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Brainerd, 85, of Grants Pass, died March 20, 2003, at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass.

He was born May 31, 1917, in Havre, Mont. His family moved to Grants Pass in 1927. He attended Grants Pass High School, was editor of the Toka in his senior year and graduated in 1935. On June 15, 1941, in Grants Pass, he married
Marjorie L. Talbot, who survives.
Starting in his teen years, he worked with his father and brothers at the Artcraft Camera Shop and Portrait Studio. On his return from World War II, he took over ownership of Artcraft, installing the first color photo finishing plant in Grants Pass. He retired in 1982.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, stationed in Morocco, Italy and France.
Mr. Brainerd was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for 75 years and was a member of the church choir for his entire adult life. He was a charter member of the Grants Pass Knife and Fork Club and was a member of the Rotary.
Following his retirement, he and his wife went on cruises and tours to China, Korea, Japan, the Panama Canal, Italy, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, New Zealand and Australia. They also enjoyed traveling with his church’s RV club, the Holy Rovers.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Judy Riker, Grants Pass, and Kathy Schlaefli, Medford; a son, Richard, Corvallis; and six grandchildren.

Wanda L. Asbill
The memorial service for Wanda L. Asbill will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. Pastor Ron Welch of Trail Community Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mrs. Asbill, 73, of Shady Cove, died Monday (March 10, 2003) at her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Eugene, to Russell and Ruth Gower Potts. In January 1948, in Santa Rosa, Calif., she married
William Russell Asbill, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 25 years ago from San Ramon, Calif.
Mrs. Asbill was a member of Trail Community Church.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Ronald, Klamath Falls, Greg, Trail, and Scott, Crescent City, Calif.; a daughter, Tamra Irwin, Sebastopol, Calif.; two brothers, Louie Potts, Lodi, Calif., and Carol Potts, in Idaho; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Potts.

Hermion ‘Hermie’ D. Clower
The memorial service for Hermion "Hermie" Dorothy Clower will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Clower, 80, of Medford, formerly of Springfield, died Sunday (May 9, 2003), after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 1, 1922, in Bismarck, N.D., to Fritz and Cora (Rise) Hagen. She graduated with honors from North Bend High School. On June 26, 1941, in North Bend, she married
Floyd Clower. They later divorced. She lived in North Bend and Coos Bay from 1928 to 1956, in Springfield from 1956 to 1966, and in Medford since 1966.
Ms. Clower was a welder in shipyards in Portland and Seattle during World War II. In Medford, she owned a gift shop, Colonial Bouquet. She also worked as a designer for Kirkland Flowers.
She was a member of the Lions Auxiliary in Springfield.
Ms. Clower enjoyed braiding wool rugs, flower arranging and crafts.
Survivors include two daughters, Kerry Daun Harris, Springfield, and Jeri Lynn Vanderford, Boulder City, Nev.; a brother, Conrad "Fritz" Hagen, Redding, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a grandson, Kirk Vanderford.

Myron Lyle Lambert
The memorial service for Myron Lyle Lambert will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.
Mr. Lambert, 45, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (March 9, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

He was born Jan. 24, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa. His family moved to Grants Pass in 1962.
Mr. Lambert was a cook for China Hut for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include his companion, Marianne Christmann, Grants Pass; his father, Earl, Grants Pass; three brothers, Carl, Grants Pass, Gary, Harrisburg, and Melvin, Rogue River; six sisters, Janet Goff, Peggy Egbert, Beverly Walters and Barbara Michael, all Grants Pass, Donna Timmerman, Medford, and Angel Lambert, Roseburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Lambert; and a sister, Nancy Page.

Judith Stewart-Worsham
The graveside service for Judith Stewart-Worsham will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jacksonville cemetery. Pastor Rick Booye of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mrs. Stewart-Worsham, 65, of Medford, died Monday (March 10, 2003) at her home.

She was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., to Walter and Thelma (Taylor) Mooring. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 1946 to 1957 and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1955. She returned to the Rogue Valley in 1976. On Sept. 13, 1997, at Lake Tahoe, Nev., she married
Frank P. Worsham, who survives.
Mrs. Stewart-Worsham was an insurance agent and had owned Jacksonville Insurance Agency since 1981.
She was a member of the Medford Eagles Lodge.
Mrs. Stewart-Worsham enjoyed golf, watercolor art, dancing and shooting pool.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Doug and Barry Wortman, both Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Ginny Buck, Medford; two brothers, Walter and Denny Mooring, both Medford; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Stewart.

Mary Lou Gentry
Mary Lou Gentry, 77, of Grants Pass, died Monday (March 10, 2003) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Louann, Ark. On Nov. 27, 1971, in Grants Pass, she married
Paul Benjamin Gentry, who died in 1998. He was related to the pioneer family of Benjamin Dimmick.
Mrs. Gentry worked for the State of California Highway Division until her retirement.
She was a past president of Grants Pass Elks Emblem Club No. 444 and had been a member since 1972.
Mrs. Gentry enjoyed music and was an avid reader.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Harmon, Valley Springs, Calif., and Greg Harmon, Lodi, Calif.; a stepson, Tom Gentry, Grants Pass; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Harmon.

Mary B. Alliston
The graveside service for Mary B. Alliston will be at 2 p.m. today at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mrs. Alliston, 85, of Medford, died Friday (March 14, 2003) at Hearthstone.
She was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Stillwater, Minn., to William and Alice (Joy) Beyer. She attended four years of college. On Sept. 14, 1949, in San Francisco, she married
William Alliston, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 23 years ago.
Mrs. Alliston owned and operated her own accounting business.
She served in the U.S. Navy Waves.
Mrs. Alliston was a member of the American Legion and the Retired Waves of Grants Pass.
She did tax returns for seniors through AARP and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Ann Elizabeth Alliston, Ashland; a son, James W., Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, John Beyer, Brainerd, Minn.; a sister, Jane A. Quist, Stillwater, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.

Robert Carl Fremd
The private graveside service for Robert Carl Fremd will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Fremd, 85, of Ashland, died Friday (March 14, 2003) at Ashland Community Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1917, in Red Bluff, Calif., to Albert Carl and Winnie Fay Woodward Fremd. He graduated from Lassen High School in Susanville, Calif., in 1936. On Dec. 8, 1945, in Albion, N.Y., he married
Norma E. Bibby, who died in 2001. They moved to Ashland in 1958.
Mr. Fremd was a lumber salesman in Susanville and Hilt, Calif., retiring in 1979.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
He was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, nature, taking walks and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda J. Namanny, Ashland, and Judy M. Brown, Stanwood, Wash.; two sisters Opal Fremd Yeager, Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Fremd Barbour, Stockton, Calif.; a brother, Albert LeRoy, Redding, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Liam Joseph Williamson Shannon
The funeral for Liam Joseph Williamson Shannon will be at 10 am. Wednesday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Liam, 4, son of Joseph and Kiley Shannon, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at his home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1999, in Santa Rosa, Calif. His family moved to Ashland in July 2001 from Santa Rosa.
Survivors, in addition to his parents include a sister, Hope Elizabeth Shannon, Ashland; grandparents, Mary Conn, Ashland, Richard Williamson, Forestville, Calif., Pat Shannon, in Mexico, and Sally Shannon, Lemoore, Calif.; great-grandparents, Mary Christiansen, Santa Rosa, Calif., Muriel Sample, Fresno, Calif., and C.R. Shannon, Visalia, Calif.

Billy L. Clark
The graveside service for Billy L. Clark will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National cemetery. Chaplain Wayne Bell of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary in White City will officiate.
Mr. Clark, 68, of Medford, died Friday (March 14, 2003) at his home.

He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Medford, to Delbert and Frances (Bayou) Clark. He was raised and attended school in Fortuna, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Humboldt County, Calif. On Sept. 24, 1977, in Reno, Nev., he married
Linda Feierabend, who survives.
Mr. Clark was a planesman in the timber industry.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957, then served in the Naval Reserve until 1961, achieving the rank of GM3.
Mr. Clark enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Gina Unruh, Medford, and Karen Clark and Kimberly Clark, both in Nevada; a son, Allen Fox, Central Point; his mother and stepfather, Frances and Francis Hines, Medford; three sisters, Lorreta Whipple and Geraldine Calvin, both Eagle Point, and Betty Head, in Washington; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John Henry Pierson
The memorial service for John Henry Pierson will be at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Longview, Wash. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Elaine and Bud Cockrell.
Mr. Pierson, 77, of Longview, Wash., formerly of the Medford area, died Thursday (March 13, 2003) in Longview, Wash.

He was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Slidell, La., to John and Gladys Wilson, who died when he was a child. He was raised by Irwin and Mildred Pierson. On Dec. 30, 1969, in Sparks, Nev., he married
Meta MeGhan, who survives. He lived in the Medford area for 32 years, and in Ontario prior to that.
Mr. Pierson and his wife owned a Belton Hearing Aid franchise and a restaurant-bar in Central Point for several years. Prior to that he managed the Chevrolet dealership in Nyssa.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Birmingham.
Mr. Pierson was a member of the Ashland Elks and the Nyssa Eagles.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Craig Pierson, Gresham; two stepsons, Kelly Kurtz, Eugene, and Craig Kurtz, Peoria, Ariz.; a daughter, Lynda Anderson, Greenbank, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Elaine Cockrell, Longview, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
