Maurice Herbert McDowell
The memorial service for Maurice Herbert McDowell will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glendale Baptist Church. Pastors Steve Peters and Walt V. Kelley will officiate. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mr. McDowell, 81, of Glendale, died Friday (July 5, 2002) at his home.

He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Royal, Ark., to Elva May and Ambrose McDowell. On Aug. 25, 1942, in Meyers, Ark., he married
Audine Tallent, who survives. They moved to Glendale in 1947 from Hot Springs, Ark.
Mr. McDowell worked for Robert Dollar Lumber Mill and then went to work for Gregory Lumber Mill. He retired in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Nicholson and the USS Edwards.
Mr. McDowell was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed horses and automobiles.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Robert, Gig Harbor, Wash., and Philip and Stephen, both Glendale; two daughters, Deborah Clark, Klamath Falls, and Martha Kelley, Lakewood, Wash.; a brother, Calvin, Sutherlin; a sister, Wynena Parrish, Apple Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Ralph.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.
June Marie Olsen
The graveside service for June Marie Olsen will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery. The Rev. William H. Lehmann III of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Medford will officiate.
Mrs. Olsen, 82, of Talent, died June 29, 2002, at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born March 13, 1920, in Arlington, Iowa, to Russel and Leta (Johnson) Pierce. She attended school and graduated from high school in Fayette, Iowa. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and received a bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, and a master’s degree from Oregon State University.
On June 8, 1952, at Pike’s Peak State Park in McGregor, Iowa, she married
James H. Olsen, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986 from Butte Falls.
Mrs. Olsen was a teacher and homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Medford and AARP.
Mrs. Olsen enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and animal care.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, James H. Jr., Talent, and Eric Burton, Elk Grove, Calif.; three sisters, Dorothy McLavey, Tripoli, Iowa, and Wanda Buhr and Charlotte Hoffman, both Waterloo, Iowa; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Harold Pierce.

Margaret Paulsen
Rosary will be recited for Margaret Paulsen at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lima Family Mortuary, 461 N. Winchester St., in Santa Clara, Calif. A Blessing will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lima Mortuary. Interment will be at Santa Clara Mission cemetery in Santa Clara, Calif.
Mrs. Paulsen, 99, of Ashland, died Saturday (July 6, 2002) at Linda Vista Nursing Care Facility in Ashland.
She was born June 7, 1903, in Austria-Hungary. In November 1924, in Bratislava, Slovakia, she married
John Paulsen Sr., who died in 1979. She moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1952 from her homeland, Austria. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from San Jose.
Mrs. Paulsen was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked as a cook in a nursing home in San Jose.
She excelled in baking Austrian pastries and cooking and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Survivors include a son, John, San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irma Hoff; and a grandson.

Otto G. Jeddeloh
Otto G. Jeddeloh, 92, of Hillsboro, formerly of Medford, died Thursday (July 4, 2002) in Hillsboro. No service is planned.

He was born Sept. 16, 1909, in Jeddeloh, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1925. In 1942, he married
Willa Faye Boeke, who died in 1995. He lived in Grants Pass from 1946 to 1962; in Medford from 1962 to 1985; and in Hillsboro since 1985.
Mr. Jeddeloh owned and operated Jeddeloh Brothers Sweed Mills in Gold Hill and Oregon Cutstock and Molding Corp. in White City.
He was a lifetime Shriner.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara "BJ" Jeddeloh; a son, Bruce; a brother, Adolph; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Earl LeRoy Barnes
The memorial service for Earl LeRoy Barnes will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Honor at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Barnes, 75, of Central Point, died Wednesday (July 3, 2002) at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Culver, Kan., to Jesse and Grace (Bowrin) Barnes. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 from Kansas. On Oct. 23, 1948, in Medford, he married
Delora Beeney, who died in 2000.
Mr. Barnes was a maintenance man for School District 549C at Medford High School and Hoover Elementary School. He also owned and operated a dump truck business and a custom landscaping business, all in the Rogue Valley. He worked at Orley’s Stoves for many years and at Payless Auto Sales. He and other family members helped drill the man-made lake, Willow Lake.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Barnes was a member of the Medford Eagles.
He enjoyed working with wood and doing handyman chores.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine Williams and Brenda McKelvie, both Central Point, and Barbara Hanson, Olympia, Wash.; two brothers, Jerry, Ashland, and Barney, Klamath Falls; three sisters, Alma Silvia, Fresno, Calif., Reola Burrough, Visalia, Calif., and Delores Bourbanaisse, Needles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Ethmer and Raymond; and a great-grandson.

Donald Johnson
Donald Johnson, 79, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (July 7, 2002) in Eagle Point. No service is planned.
He was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Holton, Kan., to Lowell and Mildred Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a master carpenter and cabinet maker. He moved to the Rogue Valley one year ago.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include a son, David, Twin Falls, Idaho; and a daughter, Debbie Morgan, Lake Stevens, Wash. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.

Lenora Evelyn Harding
The memorial service for Lenora Evelyn Harding will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Holly Harding, 158 Beacon Hill Lane, Ashland.
Mrs. Harding, 72, of Trail, died Thursday (July 4, 2002) at a local nursing home.

She was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Napa, Calif., to Howard and Carol Osborne. On Nov. 18, 1947, in Reno, Nev., she married
Harry Harding, who died in 1986. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Potter Valley.
Mrs. Harding was a homemaker and a volunteer. She was a member of the Volunteers of the Domiciliary and Library Readers.
She enjoyed quilting and collecting dolls, stamps, spoons, teapots and other antiques.
Survivors include four daughters, Holly Harding, Ashland, Laurie Edwards, Riverside, Calif., Sarah Rue, Bend, and Wrena Alves, Windsor, Calif.; her mother, Carol Henke Minnie, Napa, Calif.; two brothers, Walter Muller, Middletown, Calif., and Timothy Henke, Napa, Calif.; four sisters, Betty Suits, Lodi, Calif., Carol Eichler, Napa, Calif., Pamela Rutherford, Bakersfield, Calif., and Denise Charm Henke, San Francisco; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Beverly Ward-Pandzich
Beverly Ward-Pandzich, 51, of Texarkana, Tex., formerly of the Rogue Valley, died July 1, 2002, in Texarkana, Tex. The memorial service was held in Texarkana.
She was born Beverly Dennis on Sept. 2, 1950, in San Diego. She attended East Texas State University in Texarkana from 1968 to 1972. On Feb. 29, 1999, she married
Nicholas Pandzich, who survives.
Mrs. Ward-Pandzich was a restaurant manager in Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin. She lived in the Rogue Valley from 2001 to 2002.
She was a member of the Eagles.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Ward, in Texas; two daughters, Dusty Garcia, Medford, and Deonna Mabry, in Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Dorothy Elfreda Souza
Dorothy Elfreda Souza, 78, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (July 7, 2002) at Three Rivers Community Hospital. A private graveside service will be held Friday at Granite Hill cemetery. Pastor Wes Winn of First Christian Church will officiate.

William Bayard Boylan Jr.
The graveside service for William Bayard Boylan Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Pastor Rod Howell of Central Neighborhood Church will officiate.
Mr. Boylan, 65, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Madison, Wisc., a son of William Sr. and Ruby Boylan. On July 24, 1960, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married
Linda S. Cossairt, who survives.
He had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1972, moving from Orange County, Calif.
Mr. Boylan worked at North American Rockwell in Orange County for 11 years. In Medford he owned a cattle ranch and worked as a real estate agent since 1983.
He was affiliated with the Medford Board of Realtors and Bear Creek Kiwanis Club and served on the Phoenix-Talent School Board.
He enjoyed his cattle ranch.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, William B. III, Medford, and Bob L., Ontario; a daughter, Gidget Welborn, Portland; two sisters, Stephanie Sproul, Penn Valley, Calif., and Barbara Dixon, Denver, Colo.; and nine grandchildren.

Esther Lillian Hemphill
The memorial service for Esther Lillian Hemphill will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the recreation room of her Phoenix home. A private service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hemphill, 82, of Phoenix, died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born on April 4, 1920, in the Clackamas County community of Colton, a daughter of Charles and Jessie Freeman. On May 23, 1943, in Molalla, she married
Monroe Hemphill, who preceded her in death.
She had lived in the Rogue Valley for 30 years, moving here from Grass Valley, Calif.
She and her husband owned and operated numerous restaurants throughout Oregon. They also owned and operated Hemphill Industries, a Medford manufacturing company that made plastic wedges for the logging industry.
Mrs. Hemphill enjoyed entertaining and cooking, fishing, traveling, playing cards and being a caregiver.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Freeman, Eugene, and Glenn Freeman, Medford; and three sisters, Blanche Frickey, Salem, Dorothy Moore, Ashland, and Alice Cripe, Eugene. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Axmaker, and her parents.

Carl P. Ward
The memorial service for Carl P. Ward will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Medford. Pastor Dan McCulloch will officiate.
Mr. Ward, 64, of Medford, died Aug. 9, 2002, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., a son of Lester and Bertha Ward. On April 13, 1958, in National City, Calif., he married
Mary Jamison, who survives.
Mr. Ward had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy after the Korean War and worked as a respiratory therapist at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, volunteered at ACCESS and managed the West Medford Pantry. He had served as a volunteer scorekeeper for the city Parks and Recreation Department since 1978.
Mr. Ward enjoyed baseball, bowling and stamp collecting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Phillip James, Medford; four daughters, Karen Sue, Beaverton, Cheryl Ritz, Scappoose, Cynthi, and Alice, both of Medford; two brothers, Earl, Taylor, Mich., and Harold, Hamtramck, Mich.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.
