Lena Mildred-Ovela Schuette
The funeral for Lena Mildred-Ovela Schuette will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. Speaker Alvin Woody of the Gold Hill Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate.
Mrs. Schuette, 81, longtime Gold Hill resident, most recently of Central Point, died Wednesday (May 21, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Cade, Okla., to Robert Alexander and Mary Ann (Shellnutt) Schane. On Nov. 18, 1935, in Atoka, Okla., she married
Luther Wilburn Moore, who died in 1961. On Aug. 18, 1957, in Reno, Nev., she married
Robert F. Schuette, who died in 2002. They moved to the Rogue Valley from Ivanhoe, Calif., in 1967.
Mrs. Schuette was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Gold Hill congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mrs. Schuette played guitar and enjoyed composing poetry and song lyrics, gardening, crafts and nature.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Corkey" Moore, Gold Hill, and Shurrell Moore, Omaha, Neb.; four daughters, Wyvonne "Bonnie" Hamilton, Central Point, Tressie "Peggy" Williams, Sams Valley, Shirley Armbruster, Weldon, Calif., and Mary Thompson, Roseburg; a sister, Exie Pulliam, Hugo, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford.
Catherine ‘Kitty’ M. Cooke
The funeral for Catherine "Kitty" Mary Cooke will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Applegate Community Church. Pastors Kurt Krowel and Tom Harvey will officiate. Interment will follow at Missouri Flats cemetery in Grants Pass.
Mrs. Cooke, 97, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (May 22, 2003) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.

She was born June 27, 1905, in Cambridge, England, to Clement and Maude (Wallen) Buttress. She moved to Applegate in 1968 from San Gabriel, Calif., and later moved to Grants Pass. On Nov. 6, 1982, in Applegate, she married
E.V. Cooke, who survives.
Mrs. Cooke worked as a salesperson for Bullocks of California. She was also a longtime volunteer at the old Southern Oregon Medical Center in Grants Pass.
She was very active in the community as a member of the Serenaders singing group, as past worthy high priestess of the White Shrine, and as a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2146 and Oregon State University Home Extension.
Mrs. Cooke enjoyed knitting and singing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Raymond Daly, Whittier, Calif.; a sister, Beth Barker, Santa Rosa, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Maurice Daly; a daughter, Florence Henderson; a brother and four sisters.

Josie Ellen Munn
The graveside service for Josie Ellen Munn will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mrs. Munn, 85, of Medford, died May 15, 2003, at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Maxwell Jay Hawks
Maxwell Jay Hawks, 62, of Fresno, Calif., formerly of Central Point, died Tuesday (May 20, 2003) in Fresno, Calif. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
He was born March 18, 1941, in Central Point, to Max and Claudine Hawks. He graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1960. On Aug. 10, 1991, in Lake Tahoe, Calif., he married
Mary M. Akers, who survives.
Mr. Hawks was a professional truck driver for more than 25 years. He last worked for Arcadian Trucking in Fresno.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964.
Mr. Hawks was an active member of Cascade Masonic Lodge No. 208 in Shady Cove.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Ladon Hawks and Rebecca Werburt; a stepson, Joseph Taylor; four sisters, Darlene Stone, PatreciaDuff, Maxine Spangler, and Sandra Schaecher, all of Oregon; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Hawks.

Everett Russell McGraw
The memorial service for Everett Russell McGraw will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel in Medford, with the Rev. John Braund of Asante Hospice officiating. Inurnment will be at Memory Gardens.
Mr. McGraw, 89, of Central Point, died Tuesday (May 20, 2003), at Hearthstone in Medford.
He was born April 28, 1914, in Sioux City, Iowa. On Oct. 14, 1933, in Elk Grove, Iowa, he married
Ethel L. Whipple, who survives.
He had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1946, moving here from Southern California.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While living in California, he was employed by Universal Studios. After coming to Oregon, he worked for Texaco Oil Co. for 25 years.
He raised and trained Labrador retrievers. He was a member of the Medford Masonic Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church in Medford.
He enjoyed golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Russell, Salem; a daughter, Dorothy Lucchesi, Newport Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Harry, Sioux City, and Duane, Atlanta; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Geneva ‘Jimmie’ Pruitt
Geneva "Jimmie" Pruitt, 97, of Medford, died May 8, 2003. No service is planned.
She was born April 22, 1906, in John Day, the daughter of James B. and Dessa Hurt. On Oct. 3, 1931, in Portland, she married
Wilsie L. Pruitt, who died in January 2000. They were married
68 years.
Mrs. Pruitt graduated from Medford High School in 1925 and from Southern Oregon Normal School (now Southern Oregon University) in 1928. She taught school in Boise, Idaho, and Paisley prior to her marriage.
She and her husband purchased and operated Huson’s Fountain, which later became Pruitt’s Fountain, until her husband returned to the gas station business. Mrs. Pruitt continued to run the fountain for 21 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed pleasure trips with her husband and playing bridge in a ladies club that met at Kim’s Restaurant and in members’ homes. She also enjoyed tennis, golf and bowling.
She is survived by a son, Douglas, Medford, and a grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Hurt.

Helen Madeline Huffman
A graveside service for Helen Madeline Huffman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Central Point Masonic cemetery, with Pastor Tom Sabin of Table Rock Fellowship officiating.
Mrs. Huffman, 72, of Roseburg, formerly of Gold Hill, died Friday (May 23, 2003) at her home.
She was born June 25, 1930, in Potts Creek, Va., the daughter of Charles and Amber Wolfe. On Oct. 16, 1950, in Potts Creek, she married
J.B. Huffman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Huffman lived in Gold Hill from 1976 to 1986. She lived back East for a time before moving to Roseburg. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.
Survivors include three sons, John, Eagle Point, Charles, Roseburg, and James, Myrtle Creek; a daughter, Ava DelaCurz, Roseburg; a sister, Violet Persinger, Coving, Va.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Letha E. Morgan
The funeral for Letha E. Morgan will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, with Pastor Lee Gregory officiating.
Mrs. Morgan, 85, of Medford, died Thursday (May 22, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Montezuma, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Anna Tish. On June 1, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif., she married
Harry Morgan, who preceded her in death.
She had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1980, moving here from Long Beach. She was a waitress and enjoyed crocheting and canning.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores Anderson, Judy Perry and Darlene Pa; two sons, Earl Parkhurst and Gene Morgan; four sisters, Margrete Main, Bertha Burke, Iona Latchum and Wilma Burlough; a brother, Calvin Tish; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and six great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Roger Kern, and a sister, Leta Willbanks.

David Lester DeArmond
A memorial service for David Lester DeArmond will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Central Point, with the Rev. Daniel Beteta officiating. Inurnment will be at the Eagle Point National cemetery.
Mr. DeArmond, 76, of Central Point, died May 10, 2003, at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was born June 30, 1926, in Ashland, the son of James and Mary DeArmond. On Sept. 4, 1949, in Calistoga, Calif., he married
Jean Evans, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in the 78th Infantry and received the Silver Star and Bronze Star.
He graduated from Oregon State University in 1950.
He was the superintendent for Double Dee Lumber Co. in Central Point from 1950 to 1969. He graduated from what is now Southern Oregon University in 1975 with a teaching certificate. He worked as a substitute teacher.
Mr. DeArmond was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 40-plus years.
He was on the organizing committee for the Central Point Rural Fire Department; a 40-plus-year member of the Central Point Lions Club and Medford Crater Lions Club; and a youth exchange host.
He was the district governor with the Lions in 2001-02; the Rogue Council Camp Fire Girls board of directors president in 1972-73; a member of the Central Point Budget Committee from 1980 to 1995; and a member of the Central Point Masonic Lodge 135, the Shriners and Hillah Temple.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Jim, Portland, David Michael, Boise, Idaho, Frederic, Ashland, and Norman, Portland; a daughter, Rebecca Hilkey, Grants Pass; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Loda Smith.

Dorothy Martha Hingste
A memorial Mass for Dorothy Martha Hingste will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford, with the Rev. Liam Cary officiating. Mrs. Hingste, 82, of Medford, died May 14, 2003, at home.
She was born May 30, 1920, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Charles and Dorothea Clement. In March 1968, in Linden, N.J., she married
John Hingste, who survives.
She moved to the Rogue Valley from New Jersey in 1978. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, REACT, Eagles and Catholic Daughters. She also volunteered in the soup kitchen. Mrs. Hingste enjoyed crafts.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Douglas, Jacksonville; a daughter, Dorenda Sullivan, Ocala, Fla.; a stepson and stepdaughter, John Hingste Jr. and Dianne Hawk, both of Piercy, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Henry Clement Jr., in May 2000.

Maxwell Jay Hawks

Alexann Katelyn Krumm
A celebration of life for Alexann Katelyn Krumm is planned at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Christian Church in Central Point, with Dr. Aaron P. Veach officiating.
Alexann, 6, daughter of Frederick and Wendy Williams Krumm of Central Point, died Wednesday (May 28, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born May 31, 1996, in Medford.
Alexann was a first-grade student at Central Point Elementary School, and a member of Hope Christian Church in Central Point.
She was full of life and laughter and enjoyed reading and telling stories and playing with friends and her little sister. She also enjoyed E.T., Sponge Bob, animals and the color red.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her sister, Tanna Krumm, Central Point.

Phyllis Mary Blodgett
Phyllis Mary Blodgett, 84, of Central Point, formerly of Grants Pass, died Thursday (May 29, 2003). A private service will be held. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born April 3, 1919, in England, to Arthur D. and Agnes May (Ayers) Message. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1965 from Whittier, Calif. She married
her first husband, Alexander Eadie, in British Columbia, Canada. She married
her second husband, Paul Blodgett, in Las Vegas. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Blodgett was a homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Oregon Coast.
Survivors include two sons, Fred Eadie, Central Point, and Rod Eadie, Rogue River; four stepchildren, Richard, Donna, Margret and David; two sisters, Joyce Ellis, Pico Rivera, Calif., and Dorothy Moran, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Arthur Message, Medford; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
